It is official now. Ruben Amorim has become manager of Manchester United by signing a contract until June 2027 with the club retaining an option of extending it for another year but he cannot take up the role before 11th November 2024 because of his agreement with Sporting Lisbon. There is no clarity about the situation surrounding what van Nistelrooy will do after that but there are three games he will be managing before Amorim arrives.

I still think it was a mistake to get any manager in while the interim manager was not given a chance to show whether he was capable of managing on a permanent basis.

This is true but I think they were not just wanting to be dependent on Van Nistelrooy and him falling off later on, after all he was the assistant to Erik Ten Hag though I don't know how much of the decision he was among in then.

Manchester United are only 7 points away from a champions league place in 4th position. To be clear, if the objective of hiring Amorim was to qualify for the champions league next season then it will be a wasted exercise because they could have had that goal in their mind under van Nistelrooy too. Paying out over £8.3 million to activate his release clause from Sporting Lisbon seems to be a decision in haste when van Nistelrooy could have managed until the end of the season.

Until an official announcement has been made van Nistelrooy will make team selections. As of now, Amorim has not openly stated he will take the job. I think it is a mistake to bring in a new manager before the end of the season when a highly respected ex-player (van Nistelrooy) is already there as a suitable interim manager.

Jolly How did you want the deal to be confirmed? All leading tie journalists announced that the deal has been finalised and Amorim has been given a date to resume work. Ruud is simply an interim and lacks senior team experience.Let's not get carried away; he hasn't done anything to qualify for this job. The job requires someone with greater experience, and Ruud isn't that guy.

When ETH failed, no one questioned why Micheal Carrick was not given a chance. Everyone will forget Ruud sooner or later.

This is the fact, but guessed what, the fans and management failed to see this earlier because they were blinded by the fact that he won the FA cup last season and the season before that the Carabao cup, they are so hungry for trophy that they failed to see the truth which was obvious on how they performed in the EPL and UEFA competitions.

Even with too much signings nothing has changed, like I said except he humble himself and try to do better he will be kick out and that's the case now.

He's isn't up to the task at United so he was never an option and giving him more time might cause more damage than good. The positive atmosphere at old Trafford is going to be short lived. The club needs a complete makeover and not just sacking of the manager but the sacking was a step in the right direction. Maybe now they'll focus on other areas that Ronaldo complained about especially their gym equipment and stadium.

United isn't Fulham or some small club that an interim with no background should be coaching. Some player mightn't want to take him serious knowing he won't be there for long.

I really have a good feeling with this one...  Not sure of it's gonna be like when Klopp got in to Liverpool a few years back as Klopp had a proven track record with Dortmund but it Amorim could come out something like the special one.  We'll see...  Would love to see it happen as a fan of the EPL.

So I guess with all the excitement going on at Old Trafford, I guess a new manager boost is in play for United who's playing Chelsea tomorrow.

I expect nothing better from Manchester United this season. Manchester United's squad is strong, it's true. Despite having a lot of talented players in the squad, the overall performance of this team has been very poor. Manchester United cannot produce good results especially because of the lack of understanding between the players. It is also very unlikely that a new coach will develop a good rapport between the players very quickly.

We are all looking forward to Chelsea vs Manchester United match today. Manchester United performed very well against Leicester City in the first match after the change of coach. If United's players can pick up points against Chelsea at home today, I'd say this team has the potential to qualify for the Champions League.

After Manchester City and Arsenal end the day with losses yesterday, both Aston Villa and Chelsea have a chance to close the gap with the leading pack and make it an interesting chase for a top four finish.

Now that Ten Hag has been sacked and van Nistelrooy has they playing attacking football and along with the knowledge he will be replaced within days, the team will go out to make a statement and for those reasons I expect them to beat Chelsea. I also expect Aston Villa to win their game at Tottenham.

Apart from the fact Arsenal lost away at Newcastle United and that was one that could have been expected, the bigger surprise was not only Bournemouth beating Manchester City but the manner they played game was fantastic, they did not allow Manchester City to dominate the game nor intimidate them. The goals were stunning and if Ederson did not make crucial saves the scoreline could have been 4-0 at half-time.

A special congratulations to Nottingham Forest, after thrashing West Ham United they climb to third place in the Premier League table though both Aston Villa and Chelsea could go above them if they win their respective games today.

Manchester United had a better attacking performance, but missed numerous opportunities. Chelsea weren't too bad, but it just wasn't our day. A draw was a fair result; i agreed it could have been hilarious if we had lost to Ruud today. He managed the game brilliantly, and to be honest, I didn't anticipate him to be so good.

Aston villa had a shocker today, losing 4:1 to Tottenham was something I didn't expect to happen especially not after Aston villa scored first.

Tottenham second half comeback was something different, Dominic Solanke brace help tottenham to complete their comeback and still they went on to score a stoppage time goal. Tottenham were just scoring from all angles.

After Chelsea draw against United, I'm now glad Aston villa lost this one because they would have been top of Chelsea but now they're not although we still have equal points and only goal difference is separating Chelsea, Arsenal and Aston villa.

It's been long we sat at the fourth position. Things are looking good for Chelsea this season and we might finally get back our champions league spot then we go on to win it (don't ask me how I know but I just have a dream lol).

I probably saw the last 20 minutes of the game and both Solanke goals as well as the Maddison free kick.  I think the scoreline flattered Tottenham because Aston Villa did not deserve to lose 4-1 however they failed to take their chances to level the game and Tottenham capitalised on that. Solanke has the unenviable task of filling in the void Kane left behind when he was sold to Bayern Munich but he did well to score two goals. Surprisingly, Richarlison set him up for the second when he could have taken a shot himself.

As for Manchester United and Chelsea, it was a fairly boring game. I saw most of it. What I liked about Chelsea was their belief they could get something from the game and they managed a point after going a goal down. Manchester United had plenty of chances to score but failed. Rashford hit the woodwork at the end of the first half and Garnacho put the ball over the bar at the end of the second half. A draw seemed a fair result with neither team playing their best football.

Aston villa had a shocker today, losing 4:1 to Tottenham was something I didn't expect to happen especially not after Aston villa scored first.

I cannot understand how Tottenham won the game 4-1. It was almost evenly balanced at 1-1 but even then Aston Villa looked more likely to score then two quick goals from Solanke put the game beyond them and a fourth from that free kick was scored.

It's been long we sat at the fourth position. Things are looking good for Chelsea this season and we might finally get back out champions league spot then we go to win it (don't ask me how I know but I just have a dream lol).

The first goal was 90+2 and the second goal was 90+7. Fulham climb to 9th place in the Premier League table with a W4 D3 L3 record giving them 15 points.

No bets for me...  I wanted to bet a little something on Man United but decided against it as it would just be a waste of money.  These small impulsive 10 USD losing bets that I usually make add up pretty quick.  Lolol.  I mean I still make bets here and there but it's mostly in the UFC.  It's such a fun sport.

They were the better team and kept putting the pressure on Brentford. Brentford felt they already won the game but Fulham had other plans.

I only read the reports about this game, I did not get t see any of it live or catch up with the highlights but you are right it must have been the atmosphere inside the stadium that kept the Fulham players going. Having said that, it was a West London derby and for that reason alone Brentford must be disappointed. They could have had all three points but after the minute mark they conceded twice and walked away empty handed. Congratulations to Fulham.

It's called nerves.  Imagine holding most of the match, defending with extreme 100% focus, adrenaline pumping anc you're holding on for dear life...  The first goal in surely gave them an adrenaline dump.  So with that, the second one was gonna be more likely than not.

It's prolly just how it is sometimes, you know?

I think Thomas Frank needs to put a couple of fresh legs at the midfield around the 70th minute.  Lol.
