A member of the Alliance has written to me because he doesn't agree with the result of the last voting. In brief, he says that our Arabic translators' behaviour is intolerable and that me as the manager of this community should act accordingly. He has asked me not to respond to his PM and made it clear that he won't answer or participate in anything related to AoBT until this situation is resolved (if ever).

It is his right to disagree with the results of the voting, but he's gotta be more specific than this. What kind of behaviour were the Arabic translators exhibiting that was considered "intolerable"? If it's purely their inactivity, I can understand him (hell, I myself am guilty of this since I am stressed out of my mind with studies as I am going to college this fall, hence the lack of Swedish translations), but if there is something else going on that we are unaware of, he needs to voice it so we can discuss it as an alliance.

If he wishes to remain anonymous, again, that is his right, but he's gotta bring us more details than this.

Out of 9 submissions, 7 were in favor of keeping our Arabic translators. I abstained. From some point of view, this is to be weak. From my perspective, respecting the will of the majority of members and avoiding falling into any form of authoritarianism is a sign of strength.

If he thinks that your move to listen to the majority is weak, then it's HIM trying to exert authority over us, especially when he says he will abstain from participating in anything related to AoBT. You exerting any kind of control over the alliance would go against the foundations that it was created upon, which is decentralisation. I think other members would agree with this.

I'm really sad to share this news with us. In Spain we've just started vacations, and this is the last kind of thing you want to hear about when you finally take a well-deserved period of rest, but anyway.
Please, share your thoughts on this topic and hopefully, together, we can reach an understanding.

If it's only because of being inactivity then I'm confused as hell. As Baseplate said, if that's the case, then I too is guilty.
But if it's something else, like having an accusation thread at the Trading board, then that's something we can discuss about. But I checked the trading board as well as trust feedbacks for both the Arabic translator, I didn't see any recent neg tag on any of them.
Lastly if it's a personal thing, disagreement between the users, then I don't wanna get involved. For obvious reason, because it's personal, have nothing to do with me.

Colleagues, we have a multinational community, and we are all different. We need to learn not to resent each other and issue ultimatums, but to seek compromise.

I propose publishing a list of participants and a list of grievances.
We will give participants a reasonable time of 3-6 months (as determined by the community) to correct their actions. If there are no results, I will vote to remove the participant from the community.

When I am asked for an opinion on whether a certain user who is applying to join should be accepted or not, it is sometimes difficult because I do not fully understand whether the translation language they use is already good and correct or not.

For that, what if the moderators on their local board were also asked for their opinion about the credibility of the user who is applying to join AoBT?

Then, regarding users who are not active, maybe it is necessary to provide a more detailed explanation of what criteria make them fall into the inactive category.
The suggestion from zasad above can also be considered.

Let's go step by step:

I'm glad to announce that fillippone's "monster" topic Everything you wanted to know about BTC options but were afraid to ask! is now also available in Spanish!! So I have moved it to the list of finished translations.

I have added the topics Newbies - Read before posting by Lauda and FAQ: Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit by hilariousandco, to the list of Pending Translations as proposed by Gazeta several weeks ago. So we have work ahead of us

Since we have exceeded the max. character limit for that post (again), I have temporarily moved the list of obsolete translations to the next post, under our signatures.


As per the voting, Zwei answered to me soon after I announced the problem we had about their inactivity, he apologised and explained that lately he has been very busy, and that if it's going to cause trouble to us, he's willing to leave.

I appreciate his willingness, but I'm not sure that would be the solution. So, let's think about it a few more days, and, according to zasad@'s and Husna's suggestion, perhaps if we set some minimum objectives with which we all agree, and a maximum period of time to correct the situation in case of non-compliance, it is not necessary to vote every time. If no one can think of a better solution, I'll share a proposal with you this weekend.

Dear AoBTers,

I have been thinking about how to solve the last problem that concerns us, and, although we make our translations voluntarily, it is not fair that some made dozens while others made none and show no intention to change. That's why I would like to propose a few changes in our rules that I believe are necessary and proportionate.

First, I would propose to set a minimum number of translations to stay in the Alliance. For example, 1-2 translations every three months. If not met, I would contact those who did not reach that minimum, and ask them to resume activity. If I get no answer or they don't resume activity in the next three months, the expulsion will be automatic.

Second, thanks to the advice of another member of our guild, it would be appropriate for me to clarify the facts about the two translators in question, and for us to vote again in full knowledge of the facts, because perhaps the votes would not have been the same if I had given more detailed information about their inactivity. But this would mean that, whatever the outcome of this second vote, it would be final and we should all accept it. At least, until another three months pass without resuming their activity, because in that case they would be automatically expelled.

This is of the interest of all the members of the Alliance: cygan, GazetaBitcoin, zasad@, paid2, myself, khaled0111, Husna QA, mindrust, DrBeer, Peanutswar, Hatchy, Zwei, dansus021, DYING_S0UL, katanic97, r_victory, Chilwell, Adiljutt156, M47AK16 and baseplate. Please, share your thoughts on this topic or send me a DM if you don't agree with the proposed solution. Otherwise, I will share with you the details and a new form to vote next week.
