Once whales are done with ETH they'll move on. I don't see a lot of manipulation right now with MAID. I see someone decided to sell early which brought the price down but I don't see it as a major dump. It's likely the coin will continue to slowly climb into the weekend as interest grows. Lot of people in ETH, DCR, CLUB, and CPC right now.

"In a nutshell, the network works like a distributed timestamp server, stamping the first transaction to spend a coin. It takes advantage of the nature of information being easy to spread but hard to stifle." -- Satoshi

What this project needs is a BLOCKCHAIN. Until then it's vaporware.

When the network goes live, Safecoin isn't implemented at first. This will take some months. So you'll be able to use the software as a test for free. When Safecoin is added, the MAID out there can be switched 1-on-1 for Safecoin. So in the beginning, only these half a billion will be inserted in the network at random addresses. When the Farming starts (with Safecoin live) it won't be that different from Ethereum where new coins are created every block. Only on Safenet they are created when someone Farms 1. And they're destroyed when someone buys space on the network to PUT data. The destroyed one can be created back when someone Farms that address again. So the growth is limited by the fact that coins are destroyed (no owner of the address) as well.

That.

It's not like the creation of the network is going to instantly create billions of coins.  It's going to take a lot of time and a lot of users for those coins to be created.   It is also worth noting that once the network is moving along, a lot of coins are going to be caught in the Safe ecosystem, trading their value for real world use such as storage or App access (micropayments).

It's sounds exciting and I am looking forward to it succeeding.  It's a new way of interneting.

It's that same whale on poloniex pumping this now who has been pumping and dumping coins on that exchange the past weeks. Coming down like a rock once this HYPE is over and the whale desides to dump.

What about all these M's of MAID at hands of MSC (now Omni) investors?
1 MSC, had 0.01 BTC IPO, and bought 3400 of MAID (valuating it at 0.2 BTC).

you sure are hopeful they will ever sell if they heven't already ?
and MAID in circulation are already 10 % of the total safecoin no coin will be created at the start if i didn't read wrong the ico and there will not be a blockchain so fastest coin in existence for now.

reality ? you fell to Scammers after being in an ICO , IPO
(more like any other stock and index in the world ICO or not got your portfolio down 25 % or 85 %)
Now  SEC is helping you getting back up your lost money maybe....

Here's the latest Dev-Update:

MaidSafe Dev Update 16th February 2016

Follow the proces on GitHub/Maidsafe.

Join the forum as well. The installers will show up there when they go live. SAFE Network Forum

TL;DR : No network yet, no installers yet, but some good progress over the last week.

Quote
So a very exciting and manic week last week and more of the same this week; however, without being a party pooping spoil sport I think it is essential to set expectations. The MVP will initially come with a set of limitations; I am currently documenting these limitations and these shall be shared with everyone as documentation accompanying the actual release. The MVP will very much be a rolling release, with these limitations being crossed off the list with each software update, which at the outset will occur on a very frequent basis, driven by feature updates. Expect the network to be up and down, with software required to be updated and data stored on the network to be wiped during this community testing period. Initially this may not be for the faint-hearted and will require participants to closely follow updates from the team to stay on the latest network.

Some mocks:

Price rise on speculation of release (or dev update about release, to be exact)... people sell on high ... people buy back in on low, new ground floor established, rinse and repeat until release. Same pattern for the past several weeks.
