Anyone know the time estimate until MAID is at the level of functionality and usability as SC now? Also what are the major differences between the two? Both look very promising to me but I'm a n00b.

It's actually not a fair comparison to either project. For one, a lot of people are harping on the time frame for Maid since the crowd sale. They rewrote the code into Rust creating efficiency. That should be common knowledge and a given; the only other project that uses Rust, that I am aware of, is ETH...and I am unsure that they were using it before Maid (Maid was using it before Rust's official launch - My twitter feed exploded on that day and I only subscribed to Rust relevant people because of Maid). SC isn't bad. But their scope isn't the internet nor is it beyond that of Storj. That is a better comparison. Give props to the SC team for what they do - they deserve it. But they aren't a Maid competitor. No one is. Not even ETH. Maid is a niche project that happens to be really ambitious and I am okay with waiting to see what they do. They're inventing something. And the market can do what it wants but they are miles ahead of everyone in what they are trying to create. I'm already expecting things for summertime. They should take all the time they need. You're comparison of SC to Maid is unfair to both projects. |

Just think of Safenet (the network) like this: - You install a client, just like JAVA it runs when you start your computer
- A map is created on your desktop just like "Dropbox". It gives you cheap storage paid for with Safecoin
- At the same time you can surf safe:websites or websites that end on .safe in your browser
- People can create an address in a DNS (decentralized) like safe:yourwebsite
- You can log on to the system using a username:pass and PIN. Once done, you register a unique profilename for the whole network
- You can send someone some Safecoin by just using that profilename. No long addresses like Bitcoin
- All data on the network is Self_Encrypted and split into chunks. When you download something your client put it back together.
- People can run a Vault where they offer disc space to the network. When chunks out of your Vault are requested you can earn some Safecoin out of the network
- There's a messenger App in the system as well. You can chat fully encrypted with peers.
- There will be a so called App launcher where people can build Apps that use Safenet as the backend.
These are a lot of big ideas. When the MVP (Minimal Viable Product) is launched we probably can: - Visit safe:websites or websites that end with .safe in our common browsers
- Put your own HTML website online and register a URL in the DNS (Decentralized Naming System)
- Create an account on the network with your own username:PIN:pass
- Register a profile name for use on the network
- Use the messaging system
- Store up to 1GB of data
There are some big warnings in the dev-update. Your stored data might get lost, they might take the network down for some time due to bugs. New binaries might be forced to re-join the network again. This MVP is just to test the software and see how things work on a bigger scale. Safecoin isn't build in the system right now. This will happen when the network is stable. They'll create a new sprint to add Safecoin to the system and they might even start with "test Safecoin" to test out the Farming system. Very interesting times are coming. Expect a lot of testing, some bugs etc. Feel free to join the group that already has their websites ready for launch. It's like the beginning of the old internet all over again. |

MAID is literally - will be an encrypted new internet for all , so anything that is online now will be on MAID safecoin system but with real data encryption and your password will only be know by your pc so not sniffed, the coin will be farmed putting hd space like SC is doing more or less but without contracts,
SC is great but is a step under what will be storj at least for now . So as i see it valeu will be
MAID -> storj-> SC
Right now the value of the market are indicating that SC and storj are moving . MAID is the future
as decentralized provider.

Safecoin isn't implemented at first. This will take some months. When the Farming starts (with Safecoin live)
So no farming for months. My interest just vanished. Wake me up when safecoin goes live pls. |

You can see the buy/sell whales manipulation walls for many weeks on MAID (polo), and some smaller ones on trex lol. So to me it seems they are accumulating until next big announcement launch then MAID will fly in price (no idea how high but I think x3 to x5 is easy guess). If more then hey great.
At least it seems like good coin and legit / solid devs and development, so I hope/think it deserves big price hike in due time.

What is the daily supply or the rate at which MAID is distributed?
Did a lot of searches on this, but either information is not very clear or didn't find the right information.
I read at the beginning of the topic, that 10% was sold at start as an IPO and the remaining 90% is left for the people sharing their space for the network.
Am i correct with this one?

Currently 452,552,412 MAID , there will be roughly 4.3 billion in 10 years time. Distribution is difficult to accurately say , it depends on many factors mainly, amount of data on the network and the amount of farmers/users Distribution will be faster if more people are farming and using it and offering to be nodes. Distribution will see a direct relation to adoption. |
