Why does Monero not have a 32-bit visual client for Windows? Developers apparently forgot that in the yard of the 21st century and fuck with the command line no one will.
Who has a 32 bit machine in 2018? i have now one netbook right now i use it in restoraunt it is very comfort for me, and i addicted to this small friend Most netbooks have Intel Atom CPUs. If I remember correctly, except for a couple of early series models, Atoms are capable of supporting the 64-bit instruction set (depending on chipset, BIOS, etc.). Most if not all of these netbooks are shipped with a ridiculously watered-down version of Windows 7, namely Windows 7 Starter (32-bit). I have a few of them that are upgraded with SSDs and maximum RAM (2 GB) to soup up performance. I then loaded them with a full version of Windows 7 64-bit and/or Linux Mint 64-bit. I use them as cold/offline/air-gapped wallets; its portability due to the SFF is ideal for this purpose. Are you absolutely correct in your assumptions, which means that I can also install a 64-bit version on my netbook?  If you have a spinner, it's best to switch to SSD as it improves performance a bit especially with the 64-bit overhead (I see you already have max 2GB RAM).  Edt: It was not an assumption on my part. I've done it on a few netbooks in my possession. I am flattered by such a concern for my upgrade to the 64 bit version. But as I wrote earlier, I'm inclined to buy a new netbook with a 64-bit version of Windows 7 already installed. I have one very horrible flaw inherent in the people - I'm lazy ) And the second factor is that I have already installed some purses and I think it would be a great backup option, in case of an emergency. By the way that I as a superstitious person concerned is the fact that never in the 5 years I have not needed to reinstall the operating system - so it stays ) better advise what sort of netbook with a small screen diagonal of 11" for example. budget is 600$ |

Does anyone knows what will happen with your coins on an exchage site like bittrex after the hardfork at april 06?
Will there be a new coin after changing to cryptonight v7?
Nothing will happen. This is not a contentious HF but a network upgrade the result of which is that only those running the new software will be on the network. The coins themselves don't change in anyway. Monero forks every 6 months so it has gone through this process several times already without any problems. Hard forks are done because Monero is still in very active development. Please note that it is an entirely different code base than btc. Most alts are just btc clones. Monero is a leader. Thank you very much. I thought that a hardfork automatically means a brand new coin as well (and soft forks for smaller changes without a new currency). A hard fork (code) does not necessarily mean a fork (chain) will occur it means that if the clients are not updated that they will not move to the new chain and if there are enough that stay on the old chain then a actual hard fork will occur creating 2 chains. The syntax is ambiguous and should be refereed to as a scheduled update as hard fork has become synonymous with a chain split. Monero has had schedules Hf's it's entire existence as that is when updates and bug fixes are applied. I thought that was supposed to stop though after the beta was over but meh, I can't remember and probably the beta tag should not be removed until all the pre scheduled updates were incorporated, I.E. Multi-sig. We heared xmr hard fork as monero classic on 6 april ...which exchange is supporting

So basically you can get the worst of both worlds now! Adding the the security and stability issues and privacy violations of windows into linux. Makes no sense to me the reason to goto linux is to get rid of the entire M$ trap that most have been forced into. So whats the Linux under windows Blue Screen look like? does it have a penguin? I think it was really nice of M$ to release this as closed source so that we can have full confidence that it has not been tampered with in any way and hence our data is surely safe from prying eyes. Like a VM ?

There are different distributions on it that you can choose from. I'm using Ubuntu, which is what they originally made available. I don't have a dedicated Linux machine that I can use as a node -- I use a Windows machine that I need Windows on for another purpose, hence not being able to move the whole thing over to Linux. The reason I'm trying to do this is that there's a bug I've been running into on the latest *Windows* build of monerod, causing it to crash, so this is a backup option until that gets fixed, given that the upgrade is happening soon and I can't use a previous version of monerod. So far, it looks like monerod at least functions on Windows Subsystem for Linux (Ubuntu). Based on my testing yesterday on Windows Subsystem for Linux, it was successfully downloading blocks, and I tested connecting a wallet machine through RPC, and that worked. The only thing I'm not sure on, is whether outside nodes are seeing my node to connect to (my Windows node was working with the port forwarded). This is supposed to work in WSL, but people have run into some bugs with previous versions of it. Based on what I know, it doesn't look like you can open the port per Linux application in Windows Firewall, so you have to open up 18081 for all applications. It does look like monerod is detecting UPnP on the router to run p2p. I'm not sure that the network stack is stable, though, as I just checked, and the node may have dropped all of its seeding connections at some time in the last couple of hours, as it had zero connections and had gotten behind on the block count. At least it's not explicitly crashing like the Windows monerod.exe was. I've restarted it, and it's downloading those blocks now. WSL creates a mount of the C drive, so, to access the program, as well as if you need to customize any file locations for the blockchain or logs, you just have to use the mounted directory path, as follows. For example, I put the monero binaries in a subdirectory of the default data location, called "monero-linux", for now: cd /mnt/c/ProgramData/bitmonero/monero-linux ./monerod <with all your regular configuration variables> |
