Is is possible to keep the blockchain on an external hard drive to conserve space on my system drive? If so, how do I move it from the Monero GUI default destination?

Yes, see:

https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/7225/how-do-i-move-the-blockchain-data-mdb-to-a-different-directory-during-or-afte/7226#7226

Privacy matters, use Monero - A true untraceable cryptocurrency

Hi all!

Recently i found 2 very old wallets containing 0,5XMR each. The XMR have been mined around Block 56000.

I took latest wallet from XMR HP and synced the complete chain. I copied walletfiles (adress, keys and the other one) and opened them. First everything was fine and XMR were shown as unlocked balance.
So i tried to send them and only get errors...

Sweep unmixable  "Transaction cannot pay for itself".
Normal Transfer "Not enough spendable outputs..."

I also tried rescanning the balance. And all of that with the GUI and the CMD Client.

Maybe someone had the same issue and can help me... i looked up a lot of threads on diverse boards. :/

Does anybody else like to run a Monero cli wallet on a phone?
Used to be you could run the cli wallet on an unrooted Android phone using the GnuRoot Debian app.
But GnuRoot stopped working after Google changed system call rules in Oreo, making it more restrictive.
So I got out my old rooted OnePlus One, which has an ARMv7 processor and runs lineageos.  I installed Kali Linux on it.
Syncing the blockchain was more than the phone wanted to handle, but the cli wallet works quite well connected to a remote node.

I'm still trying to find a way to run Monero linux cli on a non-rooted phone running Android 8.x, if anybody has suggestions I'm all ears.
I'd love to run Monero on my daily driver Pixel XL, on which rooting isn't really an option, for me anyway.  I tried that, had nothing but trouble.

Yeah that, tomorrow new system, different hoops . Just like real work. Bastardrs.

I still haven't found another exchange to use, any recommendations? they are either all KYC or scammy afaik. I'll probably just say fuck it and just use shapeshift and hold when I get back in. Looks like the days of having fun playing the market are over. Sad

What about bitsquare?

I spent alot of time checking that out and haven't ruled it out but I haven't finished reading up on it. I am also hopeing for margin capabilities. But I do want to eventually use p2p. I need to make some time to dig into it more, I've read wildly different opinions on it. What is the skinny on the trading speed?

If you can find a real tight vpn with no dns leaks, you might be able to sign up on bitfinex.
I'm saying that because bfx blocks U.S.ians and seems to reject any attempt to connect from an IP in this country.
But it's one of the best exchanges for active trading, maybe the best.

If anyone has recommendations on this PM me please if you don't want to drop it here. I've never had the need to VPN in the past.

Ths Millionero. Smiley
A possibility is vpngate.net.   It's a service run by a Japanese university and it has volunteers running servers all over the world, so you can pretend to be from Poland or Thailand or almost anywhere.
Just run a dns leak test before you try to use it for anything critical.  I've used vpngate.net, but I never tested it for leaks.
They support Windows, IOS and Android, but not linux.  I'm pretty sure a competent computer nerd could roll his own for linux, though.
thx, break out the ol Gibson leak tester and be right there. And who ever said anything about being competent? Smiley

I still haven't found another exchange to use, any recommendations?

From november I'm at Binance.com, seems fine to me. You can trade without a verification, 24h Withdrawal Limit: 2BTC

The second option for me is Livecoin.net, I like it, specially their vouchers (for withdraw fiat), have an account almost two years, there is no mandatory verification, there is no limits  Smiley

I was not aware of this, I thought Binance forced KYC. Thanks good to know. I read the reason they closed registrations was they could not do all the KYC fast enough. I'll check out livecoin I think I looked at it before and it was EU only or some such thing. My memory is horrible. OK just did a quick check and it's  "based in London, UK, although the servers are located in Metairie, Louisiana" So they are full KYC I would guess.

Voucher? do you take it to a counter somewhere?

Yep, I'm using one of this exchanges to cash out it into my local currency (UAH).

Is there one of these in english?

a really good post, yeah... all of the points that made me join the monero base a year ago. amazing project, great things ahead.
on a side note: i'm looking for ways to use monero directly to pay for my everyday activities. Was thinking of using a crypto credit card. Anyone here tried the uquid card?

Nope, let us know what your experience is if you try it.

Which country is binance registered in? I can't find the information from the site, and the domain is registered through a service that makes registrations anonymous.

It looks like the owner is a owner of chinese exchanges and has moved from Hong Kong to Japan recently and diversified the servers over some islands as well as hng kong and japan from his recent youtube vid. The exchange is legit it's just how they are handling the KYC is what i'm interested in.

abucoins

Looking into this as well. thx Smiley

Even though polo says if you don't verify you can still withdraw 2k per day.

I tried today and my monero is locked up from trading and withdrawal.

Of course a support ticket is pointless in the timeframe  am interested in.

Shit same thing coinbase did to me after I got out of polo.

In the CLI, can you first type -> set priority 1

Subsequently, try sweep_unmixable again.

People here thought that I was a DASH shill, no I said that I was hedging, had a similar amount of Monero and Dash in my portfolio.

Now I am leaning more towards Monero, at the bare minimum I find it more elegant. I am still confused about the Dash masternode and instantsend system. Monero seems more easy to understand, and much safer in my opinion.

I will feature Monero on my blog many times in the near future:

Let me know if it worked. It seems like you have a lot of small outputs which, with the default fee, cannot pay for themselves.
