I'm trying to figure out which board correspond to with chain, i have a chip i can't shake a X
i redid the paste and mightnot of put enough on one but i don't want to redo the chain that works great.

so if i look at the miner from the front, ( the side the cat5 cable plugs in ), chain would be the left or right board.?

power off - DC one of the boards - power up - find out which one is missing. solved!  Wink

(only because I don't know which one is which, myself, yet)

it will not solve anything because only one row of 000000 will be visible, so how would this help?

i tried that, but with no power on one board, the unit doesn't power up at all.

Oh gotcha.

He has a 000000 and a 00000x000  - if he DCs one and powers it up and sees 000000 then obviously the OTHER board is the bad one. Process of elimination.

But, as he explained above, it wont power up that way.

OK, if Bitmain is consistent in their logic of board presentation, then from S2 experience, the farthest to the left from ethernet cables and LCD was the top ASIC row in S2, which also had #1 in front of it. Following this logic, left board would be represented by the top row of ASICs in S3, and right by bottom row. left and right are determined while facing the intake fan/ethernet port.

I think we always hear the bad but never the good

I ordered from batch 5 (missed 4) used my 10% coupons but accidentally paid to my batch 1 payment address.
emailed Bitmain and they had the issue fixed within 6 hours (whew!)

Great customer service. I could have lost BTC on that order due to my own stupidity but Bitmain fixed it for me.

edit: THANK YOU BITMAIN

Youre right of course.

On the other hand, previosuly BITMAIN has accepted purchases on S2 with coupons that had expired. Was very friendly of them.

Oh gotcha. Shoot an email to Bitmain to have them map our their chip location for you, im sure there are documents they could send.

I DID NOT WANT BATCH 2. I was unwilling to accept Batch 2 for 1.5915 BTC. I have no intention of paying that much for Batch 2. I counter offered because 0.02 is inadequate for an overcharge of 0.1115BTC.

The dispute is between distributor and you, but I am not sure where 0.1115BTC difference came from?
Batch 1 was 0.75, Batch2 0.74BTC. Did you order more than 11 machines?
someone already posted that some batch 1 S3 came AFTER batch 2 due to UPS delays.

Ok 1.5915 - 1.48 = 0.1115.

Several peoples batch 3s where supposedly hooked up but mine hadn't shipped.

The three batches at once shipping did no one a favor.

Have 2 B2's clocked @ 212.5, powered by all eight PCI coming out of an EVGA 1300 . Drawing exactly 650W on the Kill-a-Watt.

Stock firmware, no other tweaks save clock speed.

So 325 * 4 = 1300.
Me thinks that's pushing the envelope a little too hard.

Ordering in shipments of 2 units each and using DHL, all of my Bitmain orders have made it from HK to VA, USA in 3 days. Even before they gave the form option, you could always specify DHL in the order comments.
Orders of less than $1000 rarely get stopped by US customs. All of mine have been correctly labeled as BITCOIN ASIC COMPUTER for S1 and S3 shipments.

Just something to consider for the future if you're a US customer.

TLDR: Multiple small orders are less likely to get stopped by US customs. Use DHL.

Have got my 4 s3's up and running, All averaging about 445 gh after a couple hours, I have noticed the PCI-e cables have become warm, Not hot just warm, Is this cause for concern?

I am powering 2 units from a 750w Seasonic PSU, 2 PCI-e cables to each S3, Watts at the wall are 685-690 @ 240v.

yeah 24/7 will hurt you in this case. You are just past what that psu can do if it is the gold one.

which seasonic the plat?

or  this one the gold?

try to ssh in to it and set the freq to 212.5    your gh will drop a little maybe 430gh  for each s-3, but the power will drop 20-30 watts  for the 2 s-3's and the wires should stay safe.

My Batch 3's also arrived today (Phoenix, AZ). Unfortunately Bitmain wouldn't allow me to release them without signature (and I can't wait at home all day waiting for UPS) so they delivered to my nearby UPS Store 20 minutes before closing so I didn't know they were there to pick up. Now I have to wait until 8am to go get them.

I feel sorry for the B1 and B2 orders that haven't arrived yet. I didn't think I was that early on ordering my B3. Guess I got lucky.

I guess some poor employe at Bitmain turned them the wrong direction after being kept awake for a week straight assembling 100xx ants. As long as both of them are mounted "wrongly" it should be just fine.

Why are you folks in the USA picking UPS over DHL? DHL is way better at handling customs. I ordered a bunch of Zeusminer stuff (half of it was free because of their crazy coupons but you still had to pay the shipping) and it always came through DHL like in less than 48 hours from China to my crib. DHL also lets you pre-sign if you are not around.

I would always pick DHL if possible when shipping from China if you are in the USA.

Got my S3's today and they're happily hashing away. They've been up about 2.5 hours so far and I'm getting 445-450GH on one and 440-445GH on the other. I haven't had any chips blink out on me yet so things are looking good.  Cool

My B3 units arrived in California today. I think I was early in the B3 queue, purchasing very soon after they became available.

I'm out of town, but my awesome son did the initial setup to bring the units up on our LAN, then I configured them remotely for the pools, etc. via our home VPN. He did a great job.

With no mods I'm seeing a consistent 440 GH/s on each unit with no unpleasant surprises. When I'm back in town I'll do the firmware update, tweak the frequencies, and probably reduce the queue size. In the meantime, my S3s are happily hashing away (albeit slower than I originally had hoped when I bought them).

Coincidentally my refund also came in today. Hats off to BitMain who really delivered. Now I'm a believer.

All and all it's been a good day...
