I'm not sure what to do but being that I have no more btc on an exchange I decided to send some so that at least I'm prepared.

I go to login to bittrex where they recently added a picture captcha where you select the correct pictures.  The captcha I just received had me select all the pictures with popcorn.  Being that that correlated perfectly with my intentions I felt like sharing. Cool

There certainly is a great deal of btc and alts on Polo now.  Does anybody know how this compares to what was on the alt exchanges in 2014 when I hear there was a great deal of activity?

it is probably 1/4 of what btc-e was doing in volume on a weekly/monthly basis.

So it is rather eye opening to see this much trading on polo going on.

The only other thing I keep remembering after a huge influx of funds going to an exchange is usually they get hacked (at least in the past it has happened).

Even BTC-e had the same issue.

But this remains to be seen.

Maybe it's just time for our little Polo to grow up.  I remember when they started as little more than an altcoin student project in 2013.  They quickly became more robust and more professional in every sense of the word.

And now look at them.  You think it's nuts seeing 20,000 bitcoins of volume floating around in there?  Well let's hope they pass the stress test.  I'm sure there are whales that will eventually aim to have 200,000 bitcoins of combined volume floating around on there.

I for one have been thrilled with Polo's performance over the years and am excitred we have a legitimate US-based exchange to trade on.  They are a boon for not only Monero, but the entire cryptocurrency community.

Account is back under control of the real AmericanPegasus.

Do you know who can one pay to create such pumps on specific coins? I have heard some pumper trader whales are doing it for a fee.

That may be the dumbest thing I've ever read on this board.

Congrats.  That's a serious achievement.

Did you guys notice, that suddenly on almost one day every coin on Poloniex had a large buy for several BTCk`s...
I don't know how to interpret this, but oil price is dumping, gold price is shootung and suddenly crypto coins are bought in masses...
I suspect that this is a work of large inverstors, that will eventually dump the coins as oil prices rise or gold prices fall..

I have not looked at that pattern but trading bots using models based on other commodity and currency prices would not surprise me.

Yeah well, who would buy EXPANSE went up by 600% in nearly one day, the same day when XMR, and many other coins, went up with a massive volume. I do not know how to interpret this, but it could be

1.) Crypto is the new Oil
2.) Some entity may want to destabilize the crypto market by buying large ammounts and then drop that suddenly.

XMR marketcap before the large buy was about $7.000.000, in a few days it went up to over $9.000.000, thats ~30% in a few days, other coins had a similary rise...

Let's have a cup of tea and watch what will happen  Roll Eyes

Quick psychological analysis of Herp. Sees his dash investment stagnate, then suddenly sees, what is in his mind, the main competitor...

Except that Dash fans don't consider Monero as the main competitor. This can be seen from Monero never being even mentioned in Dash thread / forum unless some Monero troll brings it up first. Compare this to Monero thread / irc where the most talked about topic after price speculation and the missing GUI is Dash.

Lots of margin, I am guessing.  Squeeze should come quick, if so.  Someone remind me where to look up the margin positions on poloniex?

Can confirm lots of margin.  I've got >1k out at rates well above the normal dust generation.

seem like XMR is proving itself to be better than any other coins.
I've move some of my coins to monero as well, hope i can gain thru this and hope its value won't depreciates much.

Not to rain on your parade but this approach I disagree with.

If you are only buying XMR to "profit" then it is the wrong reason to buy them (in my opinion).

Agreed, historically buying XMR has caused more losses than profits.

I would sort of like to see margined shorts get punished for stupidity, rather than rewarded for it.  Tempted, but no -- I won't hit that.  I would end up over my self-imposed cap share limit, take on excess risk, and add volatility where it is already high -- the opposite of what a good market maker should do.

A slow squeeze can do that as well as (if less flamboyantly than) a fast one.  I will just maintain my disciplined cost-averaging trickle buy and let cowboys be cowboys.

EXPANSE going up 600%, with a tiny market cap (<$500K) is probably not very related to anything, although a rising tide can tend to lift all boats so to speak.

But if you want to look at broader trends I would stick to the larger alts with consistently higher volumes and market caps and ignore the flash-in-the-pan alts, another example being CBX that was up 10000%+ today.
