Reads like an advertisement for Zcash, which isn't really surprising since I think I read Roger Ver is an investor.

Yes the bias is apparent. The article clearly avoided the biggest concerns about ZCash such as trusted setup parameters and developer mining share.

It blows my mind that early Bitvoin visionaires like Ver and Voorhees will back silliness like this, but still haven't publicly discovered Monero.  I mean, ignoring the major three weaknesses of Z-cash: untested crypto, genesis keys, & too-opaque blockchain, this company is taking a premine of the coins for this chain!

The last thing z-cash would need is to add on more unscrupulous behavior at this point, and a pre-mine says to everyone: we believe in our project so little we demand to get paid up front."

If your project legitimately is good enough, you should be able to buy the underlying tokens off the open market for a pittance (or mine them) and all of your work together will create something of incredible value.  That's how Bitcoin did it.  That's how Monero is doing it.  That's how it should be done.

Account is back under control of the real AmericanPegasus.

The concept of "colored coins" makes me think of coining the term "CRYPTO RACISM"....

"Don't hate me because I'm black!"

Monero does not crypto-racially discriminate. <----- could be a slogan for Monero lol

You're still my crypto, it don't matter if you're black or white

Being able to make private payments is just so crazily important, talking your book for personal gains is immoral.

- You can figure out what will happen, not when /Warren Buffett
- Pay any Bitcoin address privately with a little help of Monero.

Lousy paid or agenda-driven "journalism" is expected in the crypto space but this is exceptionally unethical:

Disclaimer: Bitcoin.com is not affiliated with any of the above-mentioned businesses

and

The publication Wired details that investors such as Naval Ravikant and the Digital Currency Group’s Barry Silbert have invested over $700,000 USD into the startup.

Those investors include Naval Ravikant, an investor in Twitter and Uber, Barry Silbert, the founder of startup equity-trading platform SecondMarket, and Roger Ver, a staunch libertarian who’s invested in bitcoin startups Blockchain.info and Bitpay

Pushing out the last few weak hands before a violent break out upwards? Furthermore, selling volume is also declining which tells me the bears are running out of steam.

Hey - I hate to say it, but volume has declined on both sides.  It's about a third of what it was just a few days back.  And you can't say that of the two other coins ahead of us on Polo, sadly.   I hope we do break upwards, of course - but The t/o of ETH is so strong that it's plain there is no lack of funds in Polo just now.   I was expecting a rise up as BTC fell back - it seems it isn't happening just yet.

Am hodling a fair stash and in for the long term, still buying dips - but even nudging just under 0.002 would feel a hell of a lot better right now.

It continues to make me nervous that so much of XMRs trading volume occurs on one exchange. Hopefully this will change sooner rather than later.

In terms of exchanges, my ideal would be an exchange serving international customers on a non-discriminatory basis, providing a facility for both spot and futures.  (Futures are good for merchant acceptance since they can hedge.  The exchange could provide merchant wallets with transparent hedging, for some small transaction fee, presumably less than a Visa swipe fee.)  Really, it needs to happen.  Probably the best way is to get an existing card processor engaged.  Then all of their merchants instantly become XMR merchants.  Indeed, they could provide XMR debit cards as well.  I top up my XMR debt account, and use the card anywhere on the e.g. Electron network, with a discount for paying in XMR at an XMR-enabled merchant.  (That baked-in consumer discount might be dodgy with existing card processor upstream agreements, I admit, but I think there's a good antitrust case that such non-discounting agreements are violating open competition legislation.)

That's pretty normal for a retrace going into a consolidation. It also means buyers might have to move up their bids or marketbuy, because the sellers are getting exhausted. In other words, the amount of coins up for grabbing by simply putting bids is getting more scarce. Furthermore, I am kind of certain that volume will increase once we move upwards, because Poloniex traders will simply jump on it and "ride the wave".

With respect to TA:

-4h MACD is flipping into green.
-The short term downtrend line / triangle lies around ~180k (the upper line), so that might be closing soon.

Furthermore, there is still strong support in the 165k-170k, because (i) it has been tested multiple times on high volume and (ii) it's approximately the 61.8% retracement level from the surge of 120k to 246k.

EDIT: Some visualization:

This Doc shows Monero's emission rate from inception to Mid 2025.

We have a lot of new Monero Mustangs so this should be useful.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qXi7zUSIh7F6UuSuhOryyFbHEy_LJuym3I3neAga_2s/edit?pli=1#gid=239466694

We are at about 7 XMR per block with a 1 minute block time. I think this year we are in an important crossover point for emission to be exceedingly easy for the market to absorb.

It should be noted that after 18M XMR we go into tail emission indefinitely, which is 0.3 XMR per minute.

The doc also shows a comparison to Bitcoin.
