Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Monero Monero Monero ! Got to love it Cheesy. As this is speculation thread, how big is the chance tot we see 100 this year, 2017?

I give it a 38% chance of holding 100 for 5 minutes or more before 2018, reasoning backward from current pricing, assuming the market discounts information efficiently, and applying uninformative priors.

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day.  Give a man a Poisson distribution and he eats at random times independent of one another, at a constant known rate.

So that they can unjustly enrich themselves at your expense without an excessive fear of civil penalties.  I am frankly surprised that I haven't heard of any actual scammer deaths by mob vigilantism, in crypto, lo these many years.  Wassup with that?
I really don’t think that will happen any time soon (although I could be wrong). First, the cryptocurrency market is international, meaning your “scammer” could be halfway around the world making it very hard for you to try to get revenge. Second, I really don’t see somebody who wants to get revenge over a failed cryptocurrency having the resources to pack up and track somebody down. Third, is the actual killing part. It’s very hard to kill somebody and get away with it, at least in a 1st world country, not to mention you never know what condition your victim is in (for all you know he could have a gun in his back pocket or a black belt).

And soon anyone who owns at least 1 BTC will have enough funds to use these services.

Exactly. That's the reason we will encounter MANY bears until 0.022-0.025. We could have broken this earlier very easily, but now we'll have to wait a long time until buy pressure is high enough to break that wall. Investing in XMR is very long term. Well, very long term in cryptotime, which is still much faster than the regular stock market :')

Well, long term relative to Ethereum, Ripple and NEM with respect to price appreciation.  Cool

They had to accept Monero because it was to obvious they were only accepting a DOD funded coin

I think we’ll get there, although Monero seems stabler that a lot of coins so it probably won’t rise as fast. Nevertheless, it’s probably going to go on a slow but steady upward climb to 50 and beyond.

We might, we are already at 43$. I think there's a decent chance we will end up getting to 50$ somewhat soon.

I'm starting a technology blog T4CH.top, check it out!

I wonder why they're telling people to put in [1] their email address in the clear... Long style payment ids aren't encrypted at all. I can't wait till people start sending monero txes to themselves with other people's emails in the cleartext payment id. Since you can't tell where the monero goes, it doesn't need to actually go to the shadow brokers (unless they published their view key), so you can keep your monero yet troll some poor sod who has a short enough email address.

[1] See what I did there...

Looks like we're in for one of those long sideways periods that Monero is famous for.

I call BS... as we are only talking about a short time period of 24h's and i guess most positions that could hold us back more than before are unwinded already

I think the adoption rate was seriously hurt by the unprofessionalism shown, serious backers are easily scared off from childish acts that paint a project in a unstable light. I don't doubt that new comers were put off and many that were considering getting in were also put off and this is why the expected increase that the other top coins enjoyed was curtailed by this action.

With that being said the code is not effected and all this has done is put a damper on growth for awhile so it's not like the eco system and community are forever stunted as a result.

For me it is a net positive (although one I would not have liked to see) as it will give me time to accumulate some before the next spike. I doubt there was one true believer that has left because of this.

“Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing.”
