[XMR] Monero Speculation

I dug thru it all, read the dev responses and it seems more of a marketing ploy for the coin he's planning to release.

He is releasing his coin since years.

XMR has only one competitor, Zcash and that one has a flaw because it has a trusted setup and anonymous transactions are a pain in the ass to do at this moment.

Other pseudoanonymous coins basing on BTC+TOR protocols without obfuscating the blockchain transactions (and are paid shilled) are not even worth to be mentioned as they are technologically vastly inferior.

What about the breeze wallet with TumbleBit that Stratis is coding. Wouldnt this make Monero huge concurrence, because you can send BTC and Stratis anonymously?

Anonymint is obviously shilling for his own coin by dragging all of the competition through the mud. He's been doing it for years. What doesn't make sense is why he thinks attacking others is a more effective use of his time than building his own coin.

No jury rigged solution (transparent chain with sidechains, mixers, etc. tacked on) will ever match the effectiveness of mandatory privacy at the base layer. As long as your base layer is transparent, there will always be a myriad of attacks (e.g. timing attacks) that can result in a loss of privacy. Tumblebit, Mimblewimble, and other similar options would however be very useful for Monero. They would allow some percentage of transactions to be moved off the base layer, thus improving Monero's overall transaction capacity.

I agree with your interpretation and your explanation. I think mnx is an important platform support in the future. I don't know when. but this project, I trust you. I'm thinking about investing very little. I'm waiting for bitcoin to calm down. I'm follow and I'm looking forward to it.

Not to mention its ran by an American company, which is totally illogical for a coin which is supposed to be privacy focused.  And that the founder tweeted they could make Zcash traceable for criminals.

Interestingly - someone on 4chan pointed out that Monero dropped pretty harshly and never recovered after Anonymint released his theoretical attack vectors on Monero.

Does anyobody really take Shelby seriously among the older users in this forum.  Sometimes it feels like he's on something everytime he makes one of those long ass posts with the quotes and all.

And do you think he's really capable of building a 'good' cryptocurrency?  The only other crypto I'm looking forward to is Bram Cohen's.

I slowly starting to get some 2015 flash backs as well. There is so much brewing development wise, but as well the recent shutdown of BTC-e, Alphabay, Bitmixer. The writing is on the wall, and I grew very patient over the years. Monero is a solid project and is already serving the world today. Thank you very much is all I can say to anyone contributing or using Monero today.

Would it be wise to buy bitcoins with 10 procent of my xmr stash? Or u guys think it's to late and Bitcoin wil come down when it reached 5000$?

XMR has pretty underperformed for 2017, it is on daily chart oversold in BTC, RSI oversold. Usually this is the point where a pump is near. If XMR pumps in BTC with this high BTC price, we can see 100 or 150 USD pretty fast.
I would hesitate to sell XMR now especially as the emission curve is going down and XMR thrown on the market every day by miners will drop in quantity.
