Yeah I know it's pretty pathetic when you pay a year up front in hosting costs (which I did yesterday) and then the system automatically suspends my account *again* luckily it looks like they caught it and fixed the problem after only a couple of hours.

Its complete bullshit - and I am really not happy about it - not going to wait for the new web site to be completed - I am moving to a new web host today, GoDaddy since they have a 99.9% uptime guarantee and I know if I pay for a year up front in hosting I wont have to worry about this crap.

btw good morning Grin and happy Columbus day for Americans and happy Thanks Giving for Canadians! Smiley

what bad things?

I have used them for various things over the years and I have never had a problem with downtime. Godaddy used to be a pain with certain things because of their proprietary system makes certain types of web site setups difficult to setup - however they have improved it significantly over the years. Personally I have never had even one of my godaddy sites experience any kind of down time and I have several.

You can read all about in the cgminer thread.  To all appearances, the bulk of what's in BFGMiner comes from cgminer.
Well, that's the impression you might get from reading the cgminer thread.
While a lot of the code in BFGMiner came from cgminer (or cpuminer, which cgminer was originally a fork of), pretty much all the modularity and FPGA-related code originated in BFGMiner.
While I didn't bother making formal releases as long as Con was copying the changes back into cgminer anyway (what'd be the point?), he left me no choice when he put Kano in control of my code and he started breaking things.
Then I called him out on claiming BFL didn't support developers (they do), and he stopped merging any updates - including bugfixes - unless someone paid him to do so. This is why FPGA support has suffered so much in cgminer.
In the case of ModMiner support, he merged the initial code (before any real production units were done) on payment from cablepair and didn't merge any of the updates when the actual units differed slightly. So cgminer probably doesn't work well at all with them (though I did avoid changing the protocol in the firmware to try to keep it somewhat compatible).

Not that I've been on every thread here... but those that I have, I've never seen anyone except LJ say anything bad about the cgminer team, and I've never seen anyone stand up for LJ.
Yeah same here, but my time here has been relatively short.  I have read a large part of the cgminer thread though.
Especially on these forums, best to ignore hearsay and base things on things you observe yourself.
If you don't like me, fine, but at least make that decision from what I say/do myself instead of what others say about me.

Tom, I'm being happy with Site5.com for 3 years and have 99.99% uptime so far (as reported by my 3rd party monitoring service) and yes -- Site5 does actively refused SOPA http://www.site5.com/blog/s5/save-the-internet/20111215/ Smiley

I posted it before:

Not cheap but worth it.

My anger against what is wrong in the Bitcoin community is productive:
Bitcointa.lk - Replace "Bitcointalk.org" with "Bitcointa.lk" in this url to see how this page looks like on a proper forum (Announcement Thread)
Hashfast.org - Wiki for screwed customers

I checked them out, don't really understand why they are so expensive though. I mean this is more than 10x the average price of seemingly similar hosting so what makes this so special?
