Does anyone know what username and password could I use for SSH access to S4? The device is freezed but SSH is live.
Thx.

ssh username is root, and the password for the S4 is "admin"

I've been ssh'ed into mine.  Contemplating upgrading cgminer myself... Dare I?  The author posted an ant miner-patched version and instructions (well, for the S3 I think)...

I suck at Linux, but I'd like to ssh into a few of my miners to see what's going on behind the curtains. How would I go about seeing cgminer once I'm connected?

Edit: Gave screen -r a try and that worked. Any other tricks I should know? Tried the same on an Innosilicon A2 Terminator, but it isn't the right command.

Here is how to do the update on a S3, dir's might be a little different on a S4 don't know as I didn't order one. I did do on my S1's back when I had them and the scare started circulating and it went smooth. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=671189.msg9071790#msg9071790

Directories are the same but alas, the architecture is different :-( when I downloaded that 4.6.0 binary it wouldn't run.  it gave the error:
Code:
  ./cgminer: line 1:
  syntax error: unexpected "("

And when I ran "file" on them both, they say:

Code:
$ file cgminer-3.12.0 # this is the one on the S4
cgminer-3.12.0: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, ARM, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.32, stripped

$ file cgminer-4.6.0 # this is the one you can download for the S2 and S3
cgminer-4.6.0: ELF 32-bit MSB executable, MIPS, MIPS32 rel2 version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), with unknown capability 0x41000000 = 0xf676e75, with unknown capability 0x10000 = 0x70403, stripped

Is there a Dogie's miner setup guide for the S4?

SoonTM. Had some other units that have been waiting a while to be published that I should have done first, so I've done most of those first. Quite busy tomorrow so might be Sunday now.

3.12.0

As I feared. Your S4's are working fine - it's just that someone is stealing your hash....... Cheesy Cheesy

Bitmain fail.

Can this be prevented in any way in the mean time? Use of a proxy, or something? Why doesn't this happen with all pools?

Not that I'm aware of & it can.
If you put a proxy between your miner and the pool locally on your lan, and ONLY point your S4 at the proxy, you should be good to go and it will prevent it being redirected. ckproxy (linux only) which supports failover as well can do all the failover work for you if need be. Link to ckpool/ckproxy code in my sig.

P2pool works.  Cheesy  Pools were selected from http://p2pool-nodes.info/

If there is a specific pool, you want a try, please let me know!

Hi Bitmain

when I started the device everything seems to be okay. But after 4 minutes a lot of (x) appeared in ASIC status. When I do power cycle the situation is after 4 minutes the some. What should I do?  Sad

Are the S3's ever going to launch?

Dogie warned we might not like the S3 price when released, but when will it be released and how much?

The price of the S4 was just TOOOOOOOO high a BTC price tag for me. Bitmain equipment all the way but not at the price of the S4.

With the first wave of retail S4's being delivered with just a few 'technical issues' the S4 is looking even more of a NO, NO in my book.

Dogie, you have the ear of Bitmain is there any news on the S3 B10 launch other than "It's the Chinese New Year"?

I am tempted to buy a few of the 1.4T Prisma miners if the S3's don't go back on sale soon.

"It's the Chinese New Year"?

It's not New Year but it is a holiday and posting in the middle of it won't get you any answers. And Bitmain rarely if ever announce prices before the product actually goes on sale, so you might need to just wait until that happens.

TLDR;
Mine on BTC Guild and manually set the difficulty to 2048 until the new firmware is released.

+1
Confirmed.
Thank you!

Until Bitmain gets their sh*t together and upload a proper working firmware update...... Angry use the method above. Manually set your difficulty for whatever pool you are using to 2048. You will notice a difference.

Tried applying this update.  It failed, saying:

  System Upgrade Failed
  cp: omitting directory 'SD'

Use the above method temporarily. I am disappoint too. But we won't likely see any resolution until after their Chinese holiday.
Looks like they failed to pack the firmware TAR file properly.

My power went down for 2 seconds, and my S4 units rebooted claiming they were giving 2TH/s each.... whereas the pool reported around 100GH/s, and also paid for that much.... for FIVE HOURS!
Setting my difficulty manually as suggested, resolved that in about 2minutes.
Not very impressed.

Bitmain better hurry up with that firmware. Angry

Firmware won't flash, any specific instructions?

Yes. What I said.
Set your difficulty manually to 2048 on whatever pool you are mining at.
This will avoid a portion of the ill effects of the current firmware.

Aside from that, wait for Bitmain to get their sh*t together and support their products properly.
This is very disappointing.
The S4 should not have been shipped with this firmware.
Providing a firmware package days after release which will not properly flash only adds insult to injury.

I can't imagine how much BTC is currently being lost by inefficient and improperly configured miners, helping to further kill any chances of ROI for many many people.
Nevermind the security risks involved with running the outdated 3.12.0 version of CGminer forever.

Unzip and rename  to initramfs.bin.SD-20141003.tar
Does this actually work? been trying unsuccessfully for a while now Undecided
