Some technical question. If i have 1 computer with crypti client, but 2 internet accesses with 2 different IPs. So, will i have 2 nodes and forge twice better?

Forging is based on your "stake" (PoS) not your CPU power (POW).

So no, you will forge the same amount.

Actually it isn't based on stake but on how long a node has been running continuously and how many spends the node has made, but, true, it is not dependent on CPU power and will run fine on an ARM board with Ubuntu or Debian.

I thought it was based on stake, age and activity. Thanks for the correction.

I dont want to take any chances with peoples BTC deposits. Will you guarantee that bitcoind will NEVER go on a fork for more than 3 blocks? I have seen quite a few things that should never happen, yet does.

Didnt Mtgox go under because they only required 1 confirm?
3 is the bare minimum and it is set to 4 now, but with the difference in NXT blocktimes, sometimes it adds another block.

Not sure why it goes to 6 blocks sometimes, maybe a long NXT block and a couple fast BTC blocks?

No, MtGox went under either because Karples stole the bitcoin and claimed he was hacked. Or, they actually were hacked. I don't recall reading anywhere that it was due to double spend issues.

That said, I can't guarantee anything. But, if the mgw and AE is supposed to compete with exchanges.... Has there ever been a BTC fork the invalidated a spend with 3 confirms?

Anyway, my spend to the mgw was at 9 confirms and over an hour and still I hadn't been sent the assets.

For whoever wants to know more about how Multigateway works  v.01 of the Multigateway Service Docs - http://multigateway.org/downloads/Multigateway_docs.pdf

James

P.S. Teleport is a descendant of MGW

I finally got a chance to try the mgw today. It works very well, and was quite easy. But, why oh why do you have to wait for 6 BTC confirms? Most every exchange is happy with 1 confirm and surely 3 should be more than enough.

From the op:

Quote
Install a Client

Download the one-click Nxt Wallet for Mac and Windows: Nxt Wallet.

clicking on Nxt Wallet takes you to http://nxt.org/client-download but there's no download button...unless I can't see it for looking  Smiley

That is the right link: http://nxtra.org/nxt-wallet/

Download this, then after you downloaded the blockchain, it will ask you to upgrade to the newest version, you should do the second upgrade before the end of the week!

Why take two steps?

You can D/L directly NRS 1.2.4. But I suggest this one, since it includes the mutligateway:

Blockchain download taking forever today ..
Have version 1.2 and NRS 1.1.5
Just me ?? or is there a problem ..

TIA

Triff ..

No issues for me, try closing everything down and re-opening.  That usually works for me.

It's time to update to 1.2.4

Alias transfer supposed to be implemented in 1.2, right?

Block 213000

But the client should have it in the interface as far as I understand. The only difference is that it's not activated before block 213000. But I installed a new client and don't see tools for alias transfer.

Did you install the 2.1.4 NRS?

Anyway the DGS and the other features will only appear after block 213000!

I installed the last client from https://nxtforum.org/index.php: "News:UPDATE to the latest NRS client 1.2.4 BEFORE BLOCK 213,000 !!"

You won't see the new features until block 213000.
1107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★ on: August 13, 2014, 07:44:22 PM
Usually the #seller shouters missed the train. and the people shouting buy are the ones holding.
Take a step back and look at via on the market you should notice people are not selling ask your self why.

Well I know the guy with 1.2m via hasn't sold or burned. So he has faith!

1.5m actually. And faith isn't strong enough for his belief

You suggesting he has an inside scoup? Or that he's waiting to dump?

I think he is saying "faith" is believing in something without proof. So, faith isn't strong enough, he probably is using science. Wink

too many pages on this thread
can anyone tell me what was the ipo price? without bonus...

Around ~890 sat. I don't recall the exact price. But you can do the math which is 750 BTC / 85'000'000 XCR which Google tells me is:

0.00000882352

So, 882 sat.

Thanks,

I get my NXT client from here

http://nxtra.org/nxt-wallet/

No version 1.2.4 that I can see

Triff ..

Notified Wesleyh about http://nxtra.org/nxt-wallet/ not update. Instead, you can use 1.2.4 from https://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt/downloads/nxt-client-1.2.4.zip

Or download installer from multigateway.com which includes NRS 1.2.4 and the Lite multigateway ui.

and some people's sarcasm detectors are broken. Wink
1111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★ on: August 13, 2014, 04:26:21 PM
The problem is no one would want to create an application on top Viacon blockchain, they would just create their own scam coin. Enjoy your dream now and soon you will see .01 cent

That's ok. already in profit by selling 10% at 11x ICO price. But, thanks for watching out for us.
1112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: August 13, 2014, 03:10:16 PM
hey guys, we have the twitter marketing going for a while. You guys think we should do more kind of marketing? Maybe we can do marketing with approaching news crypto sources.. are there people experienced with this? or do you got more ideas for marketing? let me know.

I don't think we should think I terms of 'marketing' as in twitter, reddit etc but we have some great tools in Qora to pro the it. We have a fully functioning voting system, make some polls for areas that people have an opinion, make a thread for it. We can even vote for areas not concerned with Qora but crypto generally or we can vote for a bunch of funny memes etc.

Plus we can use the AE. one thing I would like to see is an attempt at a serious gold hook up, maybe with an established gold dealer etc or we could get anon guy to do a silver one like he did with NXT. I wonder how hard it would be to do with Qora what some are already doing with Bitcoin? http://www.coinabul.com

Let's forget NXT is not our model, Bitcoin is.

AE is an areas that had huge potential to show people what can be done with Qora. Anyone got contacts in a commodity industry ideally precious metals? Or even fiat with a small bank.

I would suggest for Gold we get XNF to create tokens on the Qora AE.

so, i had some coins during the test period, all taken, where do i buy some

You can't buy testnet coins.

You can buy the pre-launch coins on BTER on the open market. The ticker is XCR.

But you have to wait for mainnet and wallet launch before you can withdraw them.
1114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★ on: August 13, 2014, 02:50:10 PM
still trying to get my head around xch.

i get the part of needing xch if you want to create an asset. but when you purchase an asset is in in via or xch? will there be a market (i assume it's the clearing house) for xch so i can trade out of if i end up with xch i dont want or need in the future?

You can trade any pair in Clearinghouse from what I see. But, trading against XCH is basically free and clears automatically/faster. At least from what I understand.
1115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XCH] ★ ClearingHouse ★ Initialization Stage ★ on: August 13, 2014, 04:00:42 AM
The first decentralized smart contracts protocol built on top of an altcoin block chain is now live.

Can someone explain to me how this is "the first"? Or is it semantics? The NXT Asset Exchange seems to be pretty much the same as clearinghouse.
1116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XCH] ★ ClearingHouse ★ Initialization Stage ★ on: August 12, 2014, 09:29:20 PM
xcp high value would also be a flaw. Lets say that at some point in the future due to the lack of available xcp that 1 xcp is worth $1,000. No one in their right mind would pay $1,000 just to complete one single transaction on clearing house. The system would eventually be to expensive for anyone to consider using.

Exchange fees are paid in Via.
1117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XCH] ★ ClearingHouse ★ Initialization Stage ★ on: August 12, 2014, 06:54:44 PM
drak,

I created an asset on testnet called VIAVENTURES. Then I went to the market and entered a sell order of 10'000 VIAVENTURES for 10 VIA each. The order book shows total Via as .001. Isn't 10 * 10'000 actually 100'000? Did I do something wrong, or did I read it wrong?

I expected it to take more than 1 XCH to create an asset.

Also, it doesn't take any XCH to pay a distribution?

Finally, I couldn't do a distribution, got an error. Is this supposed to be working?

(BTW this was all on testnet.)

What are the steps to buying NXT with BTC via the mgw?

Are they basically, deposit BTC, get mgwBTC tokens and sell those tokens for NXT?
1120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XCH] ★ ClearingHouse ★ Initialization Stage ★ on: August 12, 2014, 05:39:30 PM
BIP32 means it generates the same addresses every time. They have an index, so #1 will always be the same, address #2 will always be the same etc. It is therefor unnecessary to store private keys on the server.

Right, but where does it store how many PK's I have generated and the watch addresses I have added? If it isn't on the server I assume it is on the client, local storage perhaps?

Also, is anyone else getting invalid cert message on the clearwallet? I'm getting this in FireFox:

clearwallet.co uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

Seems like your Firefox version is out of date. I have installed Comodo's intermediate certificate which should solve the issue for you. Please check and PM me if you still have problems.

I see. I am up to date. Firefox only includes root certs with it's installer.

I shouldn't have to install intermediate certs. Your server should send them. Please google this issue there are instruction to fix this for both IIS and Apache.

Also, as far as I know, IE 10 & 11 do support Content-Security-Policy you just need to use the ms vendor prefix.
