1201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if social media apps start launching their own cryptocurrency? on: June 07, 2023, 09:03:16 PM
The failure of FB won't stop other social media channels in launching their own coin.
It might not stop them, but chances are pretty high that if they launch their own coin it'd end up like Diem coin. Creating an altcoin isn't the problem, but the thing is that they usually do not have any actual use case and survive only on hype, once the hype is gone, the coin is gone too. I would not bet on any social media app succeeding if they launch their own coin, it would survive for sometime, but i am pretty sure it'd not last long, there are already enough altcoins copying one another but solving no problems.

I haven't seen Inter parking the bus against a team for a long time. They have been used to playing with 3 defenders and an offense-oriented game at the same time.
Inter Milan aren't really an attacking team, of course they have their own way of approaching games and getting goals, but they are not the kind of team that holds possession and attacks constantly, they do not have the necessary quality in their squad to do that. Having said that, there's no doubt that Inter would park the bus against City, even most of the best clubs in the world would do that, when you come up against City you have to respect them and accept the fact that they would control most aspects of the game, Inter have to do one thing, defend and wait to hurt City on the counter.
1203  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does anyone still stores their crypto in any exchange on: June 07, 2023, 07:09:28 PM
I never did. I was always using OWNR wallet. I think that if people didn't think about using something else besides exchanges after the FTX crash then nothing will help them.
OWNR wallet isn't open source, so whatever happened to Atomic wallet can happen to it without anyone knowing what the cause is or why people's funds is suddenly disappearing. The bad news that happened with Atomic wallet is enough for people using closed source wallets to move it to open source wallets; in closed source wallets you trust the devs, in centralized exchanges, you trust the exchange, thus they are somewhat similar.
1204  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Understanding the Dynamics of growing in ranks in the forum on: June 07, 2023, 06:29:21 PM
To grow in rank is basically to post quality stuff that other users (and MS's) would like and find merit-worthy. The thing is you must earn merits from others, thus you might be a high quality poster, but the boards you frequent is different from where the users with the most merits visits, and in that case you might stay a long time before being noticed.

If you post naturally and learn at your own pace, you'd prolly rank up; but the speed at which you rank up depends on the knowledge you have at your disposal, this is the reason why certain users would definitely rank up quicker than others, so just be yourself and grow at your own speed.

now Inter must prepare their best defender to stop Haaland's movements.
Inter Milan are not going to prepare for this game with the intention of stopping Haaland from scoring, if you concentrate on only Haaland, City have more than enough players to punish you, Haaland didn't even score against Real Madrid in the SF, but City won 5-1. Haaland has the ability to attract defenders to him, which gives other players the space to penetrate and score. Inter Milan will have to prepare for this game to stop the entire Manchester City team, i am pretty sure they are going to park the bus, they'll surround their box with their players and wait for City to try and break them down, it is not about stopping Haaland, but City.
1206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 06, 2023, 10:37:23 PM
No disrespect to Jude, but I'd rather have McAlister on my team than him. Both are good players, but only one ticks all of my boxes. Liverpool has made a good signing.
Whilst there is no doubt that Liverpool made a very good signing and Mac Allister is top quality, but you must be kidding to say you'd rather have him that Jude Bellingham right? I know that both players haven't really won anything in terms of trophies, but Jude Bellingham is obviously more talented than Mac Allister, we're talking about the most sought-after midfielder in the world currently. What's all your boxes that Mac Allister ticks?
1207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if social media apps start launching their own cryptocurrency? on: June 06, 2023, 09:44:18 PM
My thought happens to be what if a social media app management like Facebook decides to launch its own cryptocurrency? (A currency that is decentralized as Bitcoin as well as it having other properties and functions than meets the eye and qualifies as investment worthy or trade worthy coin.)
These companies you've mentioned are all centralized, thus there is no way they are going to create a decentralized cryptocurrency, let alone something as decentralized as Bitcoin, quite a lot of altcoins have tried to copy Bitcoin or claimed to be the next Bitcoin, but they have all failed woefully, mind you that altcoins hardly have any actual utility.

Having said that, as regards social media apps creating their own coins, Facebook tried something similar a few years ago with Diem coin and it was a colossal failure, it would be hard for a social media app to create something that has any actual utility or value that people would desire to use.
1208  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 06, 2023, 08:49:15 PM
Rumors about Mac Allister and Liverpool had been swirling for months now and it's been great they are working quickly to bring in this player now. but indeed for Jude now it's a bit complicated I think.
Their rival is Madrid and when talking about Dortmund's business of course big money is the priority so if they really want to hijack Jude then they have to be prepared with bigger money than Madrid.
Liverpool have zero chance of signing Jude Bellingham this summer, he is all but certain to be heading to Real Madrid and i expect that deal to become official in a few days/weeks from now, Liverpool pulled out from the race to sign Jude Bellingham many weeks ago, they could not afford to pay the money that is involved.

Having said that, Mac Allister is no Jude Bellingham, but he is definitely a decent player who is going to greatly improve this Liverpool team, Jurgen Klopp would also have his eyes on other midfielders, because that is one area i think the club needs proper reinforcements. Liverpool are going to have quite a busy summer in the transfer window in order to be able to compete with City again.
1209  Economy / Reputation / Re: 12 Years on Bitcointalk Today! on: June 06, 2023, 02:58:05 PM
It is great to see that some of the old guys are still around and very active. 12 long years on this forum! That is remarkable to say the least; you have more or less seen it all and can tell nearly every tale that has happened here. Many congratulations OGNasty, you are a true Bitcointalk legend, if i may ask, are you staying for another 12 years? Grin
1210  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Have you learned about open and close source wallet? on: June 06, 2023, 01:44:14 PM
...we need to take it very serious when warnings and cautions are being released from the platform like this concerning using those centralised wallets and exchanges, if not your keys it's not your coins, how could someone hodl upto this amount on a centralized exchanges wallet without moving it to a personal decentralized wallet, could it be that he was never informed of the danger or he has decided to show non challant attitude concerning that.
Atomic wallet isn't an exchange wallet, it is in fact a non-custodial wallet because its users have the keys, but where the problem stems from is that it is a closed source wallet, and so being closed source we cannot verify if truly it is a non-custodial wallet and that the Atomic team do not have a copy of their users keys in their servers or that they are not doing anything dangerous with the keys generated for users.
Open source? Close source? I don't care TBH.
I'm not a coder (though I tried to learn at one moment in my life), so I guess I don't care about these type of wallets. After all, this will not remove the possibility of a wallet being hacked. Close source isn't secure, and at the same time open source isn't as well, so what's the difference.
You don't have to be a coder to use what is most secure. Bitcoin itself is an open source project and quite a lot of people know nothing about its technical part or how to verify its protocol, but they use Bitcoin because they trust the large community of developers and nodes as well as the technical individuals who constantly check for bugs and other whatnots. Open source wallets are most secure because their codes can be verified, and even if you can't do it yourself, then use what the community has vetted and pointed out as being recommended. If there is a malicious update in an open source wallet, the community will be aware, but in closed source wallets you can prolly just update your wallet and your wallet will be emptied.

Hazard might be questioning his decision right about now!
The move happened quite a long time ago for him to still be regretting, he had a lot of seasons to get his form back, but he couldn't, all of these makes me think he might have lost form and become this bad even if he was at Chelsea, and they prolly may have been forced to sell him, but we can only speculate on what would have happened had he remained in Chelsea, but one thing is certain, Hazard's time at Real Madrid would is one to forget for him and his family. To think that he is even considering retirement just shows how bad it has been for him, i wish Hazard good luck in anything he decides to do going forward.
1212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: June 05, 2023, 03:32:57 PM
The Newcastle team has been and continues to perform exceptionally well in this season's Premier League. But with no chance of securing the Premier League title this time around, Newcastle will be able to prepare remarkably for next season. Newcastle team will be stronger if they add some players to their squad.
The good thing for Newcastle and their fans is that they have achieved quite a lot this season without really spending too much, we all know they have the resources, and now that they have qualified for the CL, they can fully utilize it. I am pretty sure Newcastle would make very good signings this summer, good things are happening in the club, enough to attract really quality players. Having said that, next season will be tougher for them, they would be playing in four competitions, this is something they are not really used to, so they have to increase their squad depth in order to compete effectively.
1213  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Subsidy removal and all you need to know on: June 05, 2023, 02:30:59 PM
Fuel subsidy removal no be bad thing, mind you say no be Tinubu government remove subsidy, 2023 budget only carry money for subsidy reach half of this year, wey be June, thus normally money no suppose dey by this June to continue payment for subsidy, anyway our new president just affirm say him government no dey renew fuel subsidy, say nothing like that in his adminstration.

Having said that, the government gats get to work immediately, removal of subsidy go give them chance to focus on other sectors of the economy. Why Naija government they borrow Dangote money to build his refinery when all the government owned refineries no dey work, if to say all of them they work, including Dangote's own, fuel go choke na, and the price go come down, e hard for me to understand our government sometimes.
1214  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do beginners know what closed & open source wallets are? on: June 05, 2023, 02:00:29 PM
The importance of open source wallets cannot be overemphasized, quite a lot of people think all that is necessary is for the wallet to be non-custodial, so they can have their keys, but when you have keys/seed phrase to your funds that you are not sure how it was generated or what the developers are actually doing, then you cannot say your funds are safe.

Having said that, take a look at the situation with Atomic wallet, it is a good reason to use only open source (non-custodial) wallets, thus as newbies and others get to know the difference between open and closed source wallets, it is imperative that they choose the one that's safest, and that is open source wallets.
1215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 05, 2023, 10:37:49 AM
The most reliable football transfer source Fabrizio Romano just confirmed a few minutes ago that Brighton's Mac Allister is moving to Liverpool with personal terms already reached between Liverpool and the player. I think it is a great signing for Liverpool, they had a pretty bad season, and that's why they are starting their transfer business pretty early. Mac Allister will greatly improve their midfield, just as he did in Brighton and does for Argentina. What do you guys think about this move, both for Liverpool and the player himself?
1216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: June 05, 2023, 10:15:52 AM
I'd like to discuss about the most worthy bet in this match, betting on moneyline option isn't worthy if you pick Manchester City. So what do you think? do you think there's will be many goals scored in this match or not.
I don't think there'd be too many goals in this game, it is quite obvious that Inter Milan are coming into this game to defend for their lives, if they attack too much they'll be well beaten, thus they'd want to park the bus and wait for an opportunity to hurt City on the counter. It would be an interesting game of two teams with completely different tactics. As for placing a bet on this game, i'd most likely put my money on a correct score prediction, City winning 2-1.
1217  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Naira exchange unification on: June 03, 2023, 10:55:42 PM
What do you people think would happen if the president make sure there is naira unification? Is it going to help Nigeria economy? We all know that if that is what would happen, CBN rate is going to become the parallel rate or there will be more decreasing of foreign reserves in Nigeria because we depend more on imports.
If e go work, then e no go bad; but for it to work other factors go gats come into play, a unified exchange rate go mean say parallel market traders no go fit make profit like that again through arbitraging, thus if scarcity dey for the bank, those wey they sell for parallel market go gats increase their own rate, and this go defeat the idea of a unified exchange rate.

Having said that, production and alluring investors na the factors wey go make this kind policy to work, because if e go work then the banks go gats get enough foreign reserves, and e go only happen if we dey attract investors or if we get adequate exporting commodities (via local production). I believe say the government get all these ideas, and before them make move dey suppose don plan ahead, make we dey watch with fingers crossed and see if dem go get this right.

Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan is on the verge of joining Barcelona when his contract expires this summer, with the La Liga side swaying the Germany midfielder, 32, with an offer of a three-year deal.
Not after that performance in the FA Cup final, Ilkay Gundogan is one of the most underrated players in Europe, he is an exceptional footballer who always shows up in the most important period for City, i am pretty sure they will convince him to extend his stay. TBH, it can't really get any better than City, thus i don't see a reason why a player who is a regular starter in the club would be pushing for an exit, except for personal reasons anyway, and maybe the desire to try out a different league/country. Gundogan has lifted two titles as City captain this season, and he is going to lift the third on Saturday next week, and that's the all important one.
1219  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: doing extra effort will help a lot on: June 03, 2023, 08:37:18 PM
Every time I see people doing crypto then complains that they have done everything but still does not work for them.
What exactly do you mean by doing crypto? Is it speculation, trading or using crypto for payments, of course shitcoins can't be used for payments and they are too risky for trading and speculation, but you can use Bitcoin for any of the above, but mind you that trading requires skills and speculation requires patience.
The reason behind why they wont succeed is because they are counting the hours they have done the work, while they are complaining others are hustling and doing things extra mile.
What work? It is quite wrong to take trading or crypto speculation as your full time work.
because once you quit, you will never get those dreams came true
Dreams of 'lambo' or 'the moon', Grin crypto is not a get rich scheme, don't diversify into shitcoins because you want to make the most profit, use Bitcoin that has an actual utility, and if you are a Bitcoin speculator, be patient and lower your expectations of ROI.
1220  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Danger of posting your bitcoin address online on: June 03, 2023, 08:03:09 PM
Posting your wallet address is not all harmful because one can't penetrate your wallet using only the address, they need to have your passphrase which are security key words for a particular acount.
If your wallet is protected by a passphrase, an attacker needs your seed phrase and your passphrase to gain access to your funds, mind you that what your wallet generates is your keys and your seed phrase, but you have the option to extend your seed phrase with a passphrase for more security.
The most important thing to safeguard is the passphrases which servers as a security key to the wallet asides from the password or fingerprint security. To save your passphrase you need to copy and save as draft in your secured Gmail account with a 2factor authenticator, or write it out and secure in a hidden file where it safe from water or fire outbreak.
What you have to secure is your seed phrase, and if you have a passphrase, you have to secure it too, but in a different location from your seed phrase, i think what you want to say is seed phrase, but you're calling it a passphrase, mind you that they are two different things. Having said that, never save your seed phrase or passphrase in your Gmail account or anywhere online you should put it on a paper and protect it.
