>If bitcoin goes up to anywhere near it's [sic] projected

Projected by bagholders pimping their bags?  Those projections proved to be a touch optimistic.  Or did you mean $0?

Smiley Only time will tell, I hope naysayers like yourself stick around when the price goes into orbit.

plz dont quote lambchop ,most people have ignored him because of the garbage he spews

btc is worth $0 yet lambchop spends every day on a btc forum /
says it all really......
1242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: McDonald’s might start accepting Bitcoin soon on: February 12, 2015, 07:59:40 PM
the main reason they probably dont want it yet is a lot of the retards that work there can barely make a normal transaction with cash

they have a lot of people just working summer or casual jobs that dont have clue what thyre doing and the cost to train the ever changing staff in 35,000 branches how to handle a bitcoin tranaction at this time probably doesnt seem worth it in a cost/ reward ratio

hopefully the will see it and embrace it but i dont think a corporation that size will jump in for just a few potential users

any extra burgers they would sell in btc at the moment would not cover the staff training at this point IMO so it would have to be a "for the future " to get it installed
1243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Moolah Scam on Mintpal - MintpalJustice.com - Report Missing Funds on: February 12, 2015, 05:45:23 PM
News about this situation ? Has someone receive his money?

Nobody receive anything.

That's very bad  Undecided. The people *must* learn to keep their own coins in their personal wallet and not in the various exchanges.

So, I transfer bitcoin to an exchange in order to buy/sell a coin, wait a day, then the exchange goes belly up, and it's my fault?Huh

Why do you have to wait a day ? Make this "trade" , withdraw your coins and enjoy them in your personal wallet (in your pc).

What if the price of the coin went up 20% from the time I sent bitcoin from my wallet, to the time that it was received in mintpal? Can I not wait a day to see how things shake out?

I'm not questioning your advice, I'm just saying shit happens. The mindset that people just let their coins sit in an exchange for months isn't always the case. A lot of people had their coins in their for a day or two, maybe less.

and its gone....... Smiley

IF YOUR BTC IS NOT IN YOUR SOLE  CONTROL FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME YOU ARE RISKING TAKING THAT LOSS

Of course, but accepting that fact does not oblige us to be serene about the theft of our money.

There are alot more of these threads from where this one came.

are there any threads where early adopters start to realize they are millionaires and then later on show off their lambos?

seem to be deleted now for some reason ( maybe tax lol ) but there was a few in the past

http://articles.latimes.com/2013/dec/12/local/la-me-ln-lamborghini-bitcoin-20131212

Ooh, I hope they didn't HODL  Grin

the smart would have cashed a few to live in relative comfort  and hodled the rest
anyone who thinks btc cant go higher than the last ATH is deluded

last time was a crazy speculative bubble ,next time there will be solid network and foundations to support crazy spurts of growth .........watch,listen and learn Cheesy

That was a car dealership. A dealership that sells cars of $100k+. They aren't into speculation, at least not enough to keep many coins. They see Bitcoin as another avenue to profits. I fully believe there will be a new ATH eventually, but they would be idiots to hold those coins in the hopes of selling higher. The coins spent on that Lambo are worth a whopping $20k now. You can barely get a Honda for that. Sadly enough, that Honda would last longer Tongue

I'm not talking about the car dealer speculation
I was referring to the speculation and greed that drove us up  to $1200 briefly  in late 2013

I am fully aware the car dealership converts to  usd with bit pay immediately

That was a nice deal for that Lamborghini, considering goat probably got those coins for pennies and bought his Lamborghini at the top of the spike lol

There is so many different incotrect versions of this story is embarrassing to even read them never mind publish them, it's just all sensationalist clickbait with the most exaggerated numbers they can think off and buzzwords like Bitcoin thrown in to make it more interesting than the typical scaam involving money

These people should be fired for such sloppy journalism
3 million or 387 million or 400 million or 3.1 billion hk as if  the details don't matter

I will not be clicking on another update of this "news"  even though I have full ad blockers enabled and they will not make anything from me......
1246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 20MB Fork on: February 12, 2015, 07:52:22 AM
yes, i know. Gavincoin proposal is an attack on bitcoin. I just wanted to figure out which public channels to watch so i can be among the first ones to sell in case the community is forked and bitcoin hijacked.
I guess i'll just sell now and wait until the dust settles. Won't go anywhere before the halving anyways.
I think i might buy Mpcoin later if it comes to the MCA

Why do you think Gavincoin is an attack on bitcoin while MPcoin isn't?

MP coin is not intrusive, It is just the basic aftermath of hard forking bitcoin.
You are using mpcoin as of now btw ;-)

actually we are using satoshis coin now  ,which was always  intended to scale up as necessary
calling it gavincoin or mpcoin  is just spam
we need more than 7 tps ,if not today then when the next rally happens which could be anytime
so may as well just get it done

1247  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm All In - Sold My House! on: February 12, 2015, 07:30:46 AM
because it's an inherited house, it's totally cool that he squandered it all on Internet magic beans! /bitcoiner logic

does he have any more extra houses to chase his losses with?

the game is not over ,its only just beginning
how can he have lost ?

if hes a young man ,those coins maybe worth millions when he decides to spend them

2 many cnuts on this thread tbh .......probably just jealous of someone who can afford to gamble

1250  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MyCoin Went Bankrupt? Were you a victim? on: February 11, 2015, 10:57:15 AM
there was no bitcoins ,3000 people bought noin existant  bitcoins WITH CASH   as far as i can gather at a vastly reduced price
then when they went to withdraw them after a few months the site naturally collapsed since it was built on smoke and mirrors like all ponzis are

who really expected to make hundreds of % in profit in a mere 3 months or so ? if that were even possible the ponzi owner would have just invested his own money

its like these sites that offer to double your btc in 24/48 hrs etc

if they could really do that ,they would just be doing it instead of hanging out looking for fools on forums to "invest"
1251  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm All In - Sold My House! on: February 11, 2015, 10:39:24 AM
Still waiting for the OP to respond to see his next moves.

Well hes clearly not posting here again, with the amount of people commenting...

tim draper and the winklevoss twins dont post every day either and theyve got hundreds of  thousands of coins at stake

some people are in this for the long haul ,others will never understand that philosophy and will sell as soon as they can make $10 profit on a coin

All these people posting with such certainity...

Bitcoin could still fail, don't get overconfident. Overconfidence about the outputs of a large system (i.e. 7bil irrational humans running around buying, selling, socializing, governing, inventing, and doing wacky things) often indicates that one does not truly grasp the true complexity of the system.

If I had to guess, I would think that the jump from 5bil market cap to 50bil market cap is going to be much more challenging than any prior growth periods. That isn't to say it won't happen tho Smiley

it doesnt have to jump from 5B to 50B
5-10
5-20
5-30etc would all be good too over a certain time period

market cap is only useful for today ,its impossible to put a time frame on a 50B marketcap
it could happen in 2 years or 10  or 20 or never ...........
1254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: McDonald’s might start accepting Bitcoin soon on: February 11, 2015, 06:53:08 AM
If it makes business sense to MCD they´ll do it. And they won´t consult BCT know-it-all-before-it-happens experts. Maybe for counter-indicator purposes but that´s unlikely.

MCD accepts BTC = Massive publicity and demand takes BTC to $150

MCD´s competitors and other big rings accept BTC = It´s a full blown crisis. BTC tanks to $100

Starbucks accepts BTC = Doomsday, BTC is months from ceasing to exist

get your head outtta your ass .......starbucks = doomsday LOL

Just making fun of the experts around here. Idiots that have told others to hodl a tanking BTC for a year now. No wonder that they now think that publicity and demand will lead to a fall in price.

i bought 5K btc in the $2 range and hodled them by accident (forgot about  them until i seen bitcoin on tv in the november  2013 rapid uprising )

luckiliy i was able to retrieve the wallet they were in and when it finally synced a few k was worth  5-6 million usd and i nearly had a heart attack, i havent worked a day since

the point of the story is ,there is nothing wrong with hodling for a year or 2

$200 coins in a 2 years will likely be $2000 coins ,maybe a bit later or maybe even  sooner but i cant stress enough these are still early days ,we are all still early adopters

miss another  train if you like but dont complain about it because we have had ample "cheap" months to acquire  some btc

1256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 20MB Fork on: February 11, 2015, 06:24:43 AM
I posited back in 2011 that the most effective way for TPTB to kill Bitcoin would be to embrace it and make it grow it's way into a situation where subversion was possible.)

Otherwise known as Embrace, extend and extinguish

Embrace: Development of software substantially compatible with a competing product, or implementing a public standard.
Extend: Addition and promotion of features not supported by the competing product or part of the standard, creating interoperability problems for customers who try to use the 'simple' standard.
Extinguish: When extensions become a de facto standard because of their dominant market share, they marginalize competitors that do not or cannot support the new extensions.

With BTC this will happen like the fall of an axe: relentless and abruptly, a mortal blow to a before perfectly fine and united network.

fuck off back to altcoin land, you only want to pimp your monero horseshit by making it somehow relevant once btc blocks are overloaded
1257  Economy / Speculation / Re: How Much Lower are We Going? Already at $2.25 !!! on: February 11, 2015, 06:06:22 AM
That is a hilarious thread, thanks for resurrecting it  Cheesy

I think there was a $1 bitcoin, wasn't there? So OP was right. I am pissed I did not buy these expensive $2.25 bitcoins (didnt know about it  Cry )

So could it be that we see $100 bitcoins and people buying them at 220 now, will still be OK in 5 years?  Grin

exactly ,but most  are thicker than pigshit and  want instant profits
1258  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cryptsy lock my account for no reason (180 BTC lost) on: February 11, 2015, 05:59:02 AM

I feel that this guy was lying. he is a newbie, and so i dont believe him to have 180BTC with him.
I feel that he just wanted to thug cryptsy by making false claims.

If that was true, I am sure we would have seen Cryptsy Comment on the thread on Reddit.
It was on the front page for a long time.

even if it wasnt true ,they would still need to issue a comment on it ,prefarably ASAP in their own interests .............

why someone would comment on Reddit or on any other forum?

Because it costs money in lost revenue if someone is slandering your business to an audience of thousands of potential customers.....

It would be in their  best interests to prove it didn't happen
Or at least get out both sides of the story for damage limitation if nothing else.....
1259  Economy / Speculation / Re: First day I have doubts on: February 11, 2015, 05:23:34 AM
definitely best to sell all coins! this thing is tanking bitcoin will be gone before surise..or sunset depending
where in the world you live. Cool

Sunrise? It'll be dead and gone within the hour.

Why, it's tanked by almost $10 in the last 15 hours alone.  Grin

why do you have 630 odd posts and hang around on a forum thats dead and isnt going anywhere
it just doesnt add up

is someone paying you to spread the FUD or are you trying to drive the price lower ? either way its pathetic and everyone can see through all these doom and gloom preachers who spend most of their waking hours here telling people btc is dead ..........Cheesy
1260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 20MB Fork on: February 10, 2015, 04:05:02 PM
Guys i am trying to understand the whole thing, but please ELI5 how will be my coins, stored in paper wallets affected??? I will have to sell them and buy new coins on the new fork or i will be able to use my coins on both blockchains....? I don't get it  Huh If this is the case, that we will have to sell our coins and buy new ones, i don't want that....

Nope.  You don't have to do anything.  If there is a fork you would need to upgrade your client if/when you decide to spend coins.  That is about it.  Seeing how Gavin and the other developers moved forward with P2SH it won't happen until there is a super majority of support.

So coins will be usable in both forks if you use the proper client right?

do you mean like double spend the coins on both chains at the same time or just freedom to choose either chain ?

If you had say 100 coins before the fork, afterwards you will have 100 in the 1MB chain and 100 coins in the 20MB chain.
They will be separate chains but not compatible. For example, I cannot send bitcoin to the litecoin chain they are incompatible.

i think the 1MB chain is doomed
il be going with the foundation bitcoin core's decision as will the majority of big  exchanges etc

to stick with a minority who want to mine the MPcoin would be crazy imo
