1261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports Betting vs Real "Sports Feelings" on: October 15, 2020, 12:00:19 PM
If you want to make some money using sports betting, you should follow stats and predictions, weather and ground conditions and bet accordingly on the option that you find is more favorable and risk worthy.
But people don't always gamble for money. People have their favorite teams and in some case, the team they hate (not in my case). They may go betting on them without any reasoning.
And there are some people with absurd strategy, Once I had a friend who always bet against his favorite team. The reason he provided was "If my favorite team win, I'd be happy but if they lose, I get the money as a compensation."
It's hard to generalize emotions of people.
1262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: China's digital yuan vs US dollar on: October 13, 2020, 12:55:12 PM
China is actually integrating its money with it's social credit system and facial recognition system. It plans to have a complete information of people and their income and expenditure. They are testing digital payments made through facial recognition so that everyone would be paid on their face(eye) account and they spend their money through their face. For all of these to be reliable, safe and efficient, they needed blockchain technology.
Though it's an improvement in technology and scope of blockchain, it's against the original idea of satoshi and cryptocurrency.
1263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is DeFi benefiting Bitcoin? on: October 13, 2020, 12:51:05 PM
The Defi craze and the buying of new and old Defi coins has increased bitcoin and overall crypto transaction and trade volume. That could be considered a benefit.
Defi at the moment are not directly influencing bitcoin use but with the development in interchain operations, bitcoin would again rise as the prominent pair.
Bitcoin itself could evolve itself so as to boost the integration.
1264  Other / Off-topic / Re: Tennis G O A T: Who Will Eventually Be Considered the Greatest of These Three? on: October 13, 2020, 12:02:12 PM
These three are legends themselves. I'd consider Federer and Djokovic to be the legends of their time as Nadal is always in shadow of either Federer or Djokovic. Federer was once an unbeaten player until the younger Djokovic beat him. It's a surprise how long Federer is playing and competing with youngsters. It's about time for Federer to retire while Djokovic rule for some more years. Nadal would always be the king of clay.
1265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Card Counting in Blackjack on: October 13, 2020, 06:51:30 AM
There are some live casinos that are played through video streaming where the table operator and cards are real. But they mostly use automatic shuffler machines which hides the cards while it shuffles. And they also use a different card deck for every games.
For completely online platforms, the game is virtual, though they are provably fair, the shuffle is just an animation and it's all random, there are no actual card counting on virtual casinos.
1266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What was your Worst losing streak at bitcoin dice with 1.5 payout? on: October 12, 2020, 04:02:37 PM
I generally do a 200% increase on loss when playing x1.5 as that's the way to plain martingale it. Since theoretically, there can be any number of loss streak in any odds, loss streak on 1.5 should still be less than that of 2 (0.75x of loss streak on 2).
I haven't counted my exact number of loss streak on x1.5 but I remember one being of 14 straight bets, my bankroll busted by then.
I have realized that martingale works better if you skip a few bets when you are on a long losing streak, but again it's has no statistical evidence.
1267  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 12, 2020, 02:35:10 PM
Let's talk about today's match RCBvKKR. RCB won the toss and elected to bat first. Both team have made one changes at the Playing XIs for today. Both have equivalent opportunities to win however I've more certainty over KKR, that's the reason putting bet on KKR today. Since both teams has run machines so hope big score today.

RCB has started off well. 58 without a loss on 7th over.
But it's too early to decide for the game. Bangalore and Kolkata both had some close contested wins but overall, KKR team has always been a more balanced one in every of the IPL and I do believe KKR team would come victorious over RCB in today's match as well.
1268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Did anyone bet on the sharks yet ? on: October 12, 2020, 01:27:51 PM
People are betting on political and social events for quite a time now. But I think betting on natural objects and beings are not a good idea.
It would have an unhealthy pressure on the nature and that human interference may affect how the animals behave.
A person who have a good bet on a route could go into any level to turn the sharks route to have a win for him if his reward is larger than the expenditure.
1269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Enough is enough! Good bye Bitcoin! on: October 12, 2020, 11:43:55 AM
The problem here is lack of bitcoin adoption. We are depended on exchanges to change our bitcoin into cash. Bitcoin is just used as a manipulative currency while there are just a few business and merchants that accepts bitcoin. It's again largely due to regulations from the government. To solve it, people should start accepting bitcoins without a middlemen. A shadow economy should flourish which don't depend on the IMF's currency. I believe it would happen as bitcoin is much reliable and trustworthy then money issued under IMF.
1270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Chinese central bank to airdrop 10 million digital yuan on: October 11, 2020, 05:09:24 PM
It's not for everybody though. The Chinese city Shenzhen, often referred as Silicon Valley of China, would distribute 10 million yuan ($2 million) worth of new Chinese digital currency to 50,000 of it's lucky residents. The people would be put into a lottery to bring out the winners.
It is done to test the new system and boost the adoption and use of Chinese Digital Yuan currency. The Chinese digital Yuan is already accepted in a number of retails.

1271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gold or Bitcoin on: October 11, 2020, 03:52:25 PM
Both are a good invest. Both have limited supply and huge demand.
But the state of these two makes Bitcoin more popular. Gold are either bought and store on gold bars or invest in a gold mutual fund or a gold future.
In the first case, it would be difficult for you to store and protect it, it would be hard to move and sell at ease. On the later two case, you don't actually own it and should depend on the third party. Your holdings are also easily know to any authorities. While bitcoin if practiced well are invisible value that can be easily redeemed anywhere. It's easy to carry, store and protect.
1272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Yield farming Unicats allegedly stole $200k thru backdoor code on: October 11, 2020, 01:39:14 PM
Where there is money, there is scam. Defi was a slowly advancing technology and a few of them attracted interest. As people came to know about it, thousands of cloned and scam defi started mushrooming. The so called defi didn't even needed to show anything except the name and people just jumped into it. Now there's equal attraction to yield pool. There are surely some coins that rewards for staking/freezing, there are some exchanges that even give you a small interest for liquidity. But there's no way an independent business provide you a high yield on a non-stakable coin.
Such white scams are just tax for being a fool.
1273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 11, 2020, 11:02:14 AM
@Swordsoffreedom I believe that CSK has underperformed this season, because there’re many old player’s in the squad, who cannot accelerate the run rate when it’s required, and this brings pressure on other player’s which is a key reason for their downfall in this year’s IPL.

Yeah, it is the reason. Too many old players in their squad. But they were very skilled and like a t20 specialist. I think they lack coordination among themselves. So, they are not able to present themselves properly. Their coach should pay attention on this.

The aging team could be one of the reason for it. The team has performed well for years and there are not many changes on it for some years now. MS Dhoni have already taken retirement from international cricket. With this defeat, I don't think they'll be back to play the playoffs. Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata would again be on the top 4 while the last spot for playoff would be contested between Bangalore, Hyderabad and Rajasthan.
1274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are you involved with Crypto? on: October 11, 2020, 12:33:19 AM
I searched for an alternative to Paypal and found bitcoin in late 2012. I used it as such for the rest 2 years. I was so stupid that I didn't predicted the rise in value it could offer. No one guided me that this rare token would moon someday. So my initial bitcoin use were not for monetarily value but ease of use. I found bitcoin because Paypal froze my account.
Now I can say I'm stuck with bitcoin and crypto because of the money it could make. I'm just holding it till I get a good price.
1275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis: French Open 2020 on: October 10, 2020, 01:58:37 PM
It understandable that Nadal and Djokovic are the two greatest tennis player of all time and they were also consider as the greatest rival in tennis history which make me believe the final of this year French open will be an outbreak.
With that been said, I dont consider Djokovic health status as an obstacle since he have today to go through different medical examination and treatment. However, Djokovic won 55% of all the game he played against Nadal so theres still chance for him to win tomorrow.

55% overall. But the odds are likely to be heavily on Nadals side on a clay court. Nadal is the king of clay court. Most of his Grand Slam wins is French Open.
I don't think Djokovic would be any match for Nadal this year too. Nadal have won 12 of last 15 French open.

The women's single too is getting excited on the first set. Kenin is giving a tough competition to Swiatek. I still think Swiatek would come victorious without a doubt.
1276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DeFi Bubble Burst? on: October 10, 2020, 12:55:05 PM
I never thought that the hype would end up this soon. I mean considering the amount of projects that switched to DeFi, this is unforeseen. Youd think it would stick much longer.

For me it lasted longer than I thought it would be. DEFI according to my idea are highly efficient way of doing doing P2P exchanges, P2P loans and other financial activities that would not involve a middleme. When there's no middlemen, the users would be the one that's rewarded most. The platform too makes a profit but the profit made by the platform is a small fraction, which itself can be high if they can move large volume of coins. i.e. for a Defi to sustain, they should have lowest fees and large volume. For that to be true, there would be just a small number of successful Defi and in no way would it be money generating machine for investors.
1277  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 10, 2020, 11:43:46 AM

I think now KXIP needs to think seriously about including Chris Gayle in the playing XI. The reason why they haven't included him till now is that they don't want to disrupt the opening pair of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal. But they need Gayle now (probably in place of Maxwell). And on top of that I think they should also include Karun Nair. Players such as Prabhsimran Singh and Mandeep Singh have failed to impress.
Disrupt the opening pair of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal? That's is not a valid reason as they only pick up 1 win out of their last six matches. KXIP are at No. 8th spot in the Points Table. KXIP are searching for win and Chris Gayle is the good option to replace of Glenn Maxwell, who has flopped up until this point. Anyway, what do you all think will Chris Gayle return as struggling KXIP?

Whatever they are trying to experiment with, it's not working at all. It's nonsense to leave a costly popular international player in the bench while the team keeps loosing.
Kolkata had another slow game and the target they set for Punjab is an average one. If even today the Punjab's batsmen mutilate the game, the change would be inevitable.
CSK and RCB would be another good match to follow. Both of them would be aiming for next round. RCB has always performed weak against CSK but things are much different for CSK this season.
1278  Economy / Economics / Re: I lost my job, how about you guys? on: October 10, 2020, 06:50:01 AM
I didn't lost my job but I'm forced to carry on with it. The virus cases are out of control here and we are forced to open up with me required to deal with 100s of customers form different background. Though we have implemented strict no mask no entry, people often pull down their mask when they talk.
They provide us sanitizer, masks and face shields but those things are not always protecting us. A number of staff has already been diagnosed as positive. Some are back after the isolation while some are on leave. And our office doesn't let us have a test unless we have fever. That's for saving money on test as well to ensure they won't have less staff. I haven't heard of any healthy person dying with it here. So, I think I'll carry on.
1279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: October 10, 2020, 05:11:02 AM

What's wrong with Man. United and Liverpool? It's a loss with a big number of conceded goals. Which one is the problem, on the strategy or the quality of players? I think this matchday is the worse day for these two clubs. I can understand if Man United can be defeated by Tottenham, but really surprised to see what's happening with Liverpool. They won the trophy in the last season, mate!! Do they lose motivation to play?  Huh

I'm too out of my words. Everything seems upside down on this year's league. I thought these odd results are for some initial games till the team comes to their rhythm.
But Most of them have played 4 games and the table still looks unimaginable. Neither Everton nor Aston Villa had won the premier league in my lifetime.
And above all, betting on the league have been another pain. There are no any stas, opinion, reasoning and analysis working.
1280  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING: Square & Twitter's Boss, Jack Dorsey buys $50M worth of Bitcoin. on: October 10, 2020, 02:20:26 AM
It certainly is a small amount, about 0.025% of circulating coins. And the company involved is a payment processor that is also venturing into crypto.
But all investors and traders needs are these small things to get the price moving upward. Bitcoin has been influenced by much smaller events.

As of why aren't microsoft and Google investing in Crypto, they are working with it, but they would not buy a good chunk unless the US government insures crypto would be a legal investment. It might be legal as of now but the regulations and limitations enforced by the government aren't showing an easy road ahead.
