ETC being on Polo adds an interesting dynamic to the saga.

You must remember that there are cases in history where the inferior technology won the race against superior technology due to market forces and where an ethical decision lost to an unethical decision also due to market forces. e.g. it is good not to cut down trees and destroy the rain forests, but as long as there is a high demand for wood and people that live at the forests don't have alternative income, the forests will be cut down.
Similarly, one can argue ethical and all sorts of arguments for and against the hf, but if the market forces are at the new fork and the VBs dev team, then that fork will be the winning fork. Any alternative forks will just be that - alternative forks that will most probably be on the losing side.
Until developers realize they don't want fbi, vb or ef as their boss. People are human beings and human beings have human nature and part of human nature is to take the path of least resistance, blend in under the radar and go with the flow, especially if that path of least resistance puts food on the table. A small percentage will be different and take a stand but it is only in rare cases where resisting the flow will be successful and the attempts usually come at a high cost. e.g. high cost in this case could be mining on a chain that eventually will be dead anyways so why lose all the income between now and then?

We shall call In a community developer to take over the coin Just in case the community clearly realises that ecchi coin has hit a dead end, but I still believe the dev will come back.
Stranger things have happened.

This is a self sustaining financial disaster that will take a long time to peter out, along the lines of drk only larger.
What do you base your viewpoint on? There is only 100 threads on it, if your late to the discussion I certainly can't catch you up. I am aware of all the discussions and have my own view, I was just interested in which elements you took into account for your view e.g technical, chain functionality, currency, markets price and interest, centralize vs decentralize, trust/loss of trust, security, distribution etc. Also, what do you define as a financial disaster.

It would be interesting to know why you say this?

positif ecchi die ? Anybody with add nodes that are working go help me, my wallet can't synchronize for two days now I have started to believe that something is not going on write here. Help with working nodes please, thanks Dev has not been on since 1 July. There are examples of devs coming back after a long time, but that is rare. Chances are much bigger that you are wasting your time.

Im having big issues synching.
Tried jumping 9 days back.. still problems.
Are there multiple forks going on or wtf is up?
it's generic shit of the coinbase, wallet processing tons of orphans, and it's progressing.... so it takes too much resources, and may hang itself or even brake the system. my wallet still can make it thru, and always gets synced, with lags and load spikes, but already not very good at solo mining, folks with more powerful machines may have trouble much later, but they will for sure, just a matter of time (and number of staking blocks on the network) This type of wallet does tend to become very slow and difficult to manage over time. I hope nightz would be able to fix the code so that performance improves.

tldr;
what is the status of Rise atm?

Come on people make some noise to get the bass kicking ! This thread is getting quieter by the day Maybe the dev dumped his premine (200k+) and bailed. It is nowadays the norm for devs to make $100 per coin and move on. Pity though because I like the staking dynamics of the coin.
|
|
|
What gives a better yield - waiting 16.5 days and doing one stake or doing one stake after 8.08 days and another after 8.08 on the compound of the previous?

If someone's eth gets hacked now in the "new" world can he request a hard fork?

The winner is where the money is at. That is how the world rolls.

Well on YoBit this coin just made a Pump & Dump.
Better watch it for the next time!
There wont be a next time. Coin is long dead and the trades on Yobit is jut a bot buying and selling to itself and tricking people to put actual buys in. Trade at your own risk.

For chain check post #1154 above it is a day or two old or are you looking for a later chain?
Where is that ?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1438233.msg15597868#msg15597868Download the zip file and extract the bootstrap.dat into the same folder as your wallet.dat. Load the wallet and it will import the blocks. It says "importing blocks" in very faint white letters bottom left of the wallet just to the left of the green bar.

GUI: libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile
its in my debug file, whats that ?
Can you pass me latest block chain ?
Dont worry about the libpng it is not material. For chain check post #1154 above it is a day or two old or are you looking for a later chain? For your error, start from scratch with a new wallet.dat and sync up. Then just replace your wallet.dat with your loaded one and the conflict should be gone. Or just replace with an old backup and it will rescan to current and conflict will be gone.

Not sure what to do with this wallet most of time it is unresponsive, like 30-40 seconds not responding, then 4-5 seconds responding again
It is normal for this type of complicated wallet. There are worse things that can go wrong at high block count but *fingers crossed* those have not materialized yet.

Yes I have noticed there is already a wave of buying going on right now. It looks like the people are having confidence in buying again.
Those are the losers. It is obvious now that profiting from a smart contract on the eth network is a risky business as it will be hardforked if the majority of losers decide you're too profitable. I doubt that a hard fork will just happen because people think it is too profitable. What I do agree with is once the devide is crossed and the rabbit hole is entered, there is no turning back and the potential of more hard forks is there that business must be aware of. What is the truth today might not be tomorrow if the powers at be decide so for some reason, which has to be factored into a risk assessment.
