1341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH GETTING DUMPED HARD!!!! on: December 03, 2016, 12:18:53 PM
As the BTC price will hike the eth/BTC price will move downward , all the truth is that you will be in profit according to rate.

Not necessary true. The Ethereum bitcoin price has dropped a lot recently. But the dollar price has also dropped.

Most people look at exclusively the dollar price. Ethereum has attracted a lot of new investors, and not just the old ones who moved from Bitcoin into Ether. Its price in BTC has reached 0.01 BTC, a level not seen since March 2016. This was not seen even when the DAO was hacked.
1342  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: December 02, 2016, 02:37:11 PM
Manchester City vs Chelsea : both teams having great results lately and this match not want to lose this because it will be crucial points for getting top of the table now Both teams have some problems in defense due to injured defenders so I expect an interesting clash with goals from booth teams.

Chelsea have played great football to get to the top of the league tables, but Manchester City are just a point behind them. Manchester City have a solid record at home as well. I would go for a draw in this match.
1343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Zcash? on: December 02, 2016, 02:32:25 PM
There was hype about Zcash for sure. But it has been beaten down badly and now it is getting stabilized. I think this is the time to start mining it and if you are looking to buy into it, then I suggest you to wait till January as by then you should be able to get it for much better rates. By then, the slow start period would have ended and supply will be more.

The market capitalization of Zcash seems to be on an upward trend, although the price seems to be slowly declining. I doubt if buying it as an investment is prudent, given that not enough cash seems to be coming into the system to maintain Zcash's price. Miners seem to be selling coins at a lower and lower price.
1344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the alternative cryptocurrency market flooded? on: December 02, 2016, 02:24:31 PM
There is no doubt that the alternative cryptocurrency market is flooded. The problem is not just the number of alts. If a large number of alts were created with genuine ideas and the fittest ones survived, I would have no issues with that.
The problem is that a large number of alts are created, just to ensure that that the developers make a quick buck. This reduces the confidence that the public at large have in ICOs.

In the real world, there are regulators and a number of people are responsible if the information presented is false - the promoters, lawyers, investment bankers, auditors, etc. In the crypto-world, people can take investors for a hike and walk away scot free,
1345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where is the STEEM Community hanging out? on: December 01, 2016, 04:29:44 PM
I could not find channels where the STEEM Community is gathering.

- Slack http://steem.herokuapp.com closed
- Bitcointalk Threads inactive
- Telegram Chat not available
- Reddit Subs inactive

When I look at http://steemtools.com they seem to be very active. So where are they dicussing stuff related to STEEM?

Thanks for hints!

Bitone

It isn't surprising to see interest in steem decreasing, with the price going for a toss.
Few altcoins have a fanatical following which will stay together even when the value of their holdings gets decimated.
1346  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the Bitcoin price ever drop back down to $500? on: December 01, 2016, 04:25:43 PM
Do any of you that follow the price of Bitcoin closely think that the price will ever drop back down to $500 or something close to it? And why or why not?

Looking at current interest and momentum, I don't think so.
Even if it does, I don't think it will be an earth shattering event. We should just use the opportunity to pick up some cheap coins.
1347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Monero over eth? WTF on: December 01, 2016, 04:24:18 PM
It's really depressing that people still don't get that price comparisons between coins are meaningless without considering market cap.

actually it is depressing to see people still think market cap is a worthy comparison for altcoins! let me break it down for you. ETH has 86.5 million coins and only a small amount of it is available to public and the rest is controlled by the owners who manipulate it. and because of this huge available coins the market cap is "artificially grown"

the same thing goes for any other altcoin which has ridiculous amount of coins available to "artificially increase" their market cap.

the things to look at is neither market cap nor price. and if you want to compare you have to consider many factors at the same time a combination of price, volume, premine, daily volume and how it has changed, code, ...

Your arguments against market cap hold true for any asset. The only point being that liquidity in the crypto world is extremely low, compared to liquidity in other asset classes. Even Berkshire Hathaway has a market cap, although you won't be able to buy the whole company at that price.  Smiley
1348  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: December 01, 2016, 04:18:27 PM
Arsenal lost against Southampton by 0 - 2 this is unexpected when at home ground a strong team will get failed. I was with Arsenal -1.5 but they played so bad into that clash and gave up easily there.

Thankfully, the other match went on expected lines. Manchester United eased into a 4-1 victory over West Ham. They might have felt a little bit uneasy with the score tied at 1-1 at half time, but the final result is not a surprise.
1349  Economy / Services / Re: A task you may or may not be interested in! on: November 30, 2016, 01:48:46 AM
I would do this task for 50,000 satoshis.
Send me a pm with what you need to have done with this requested task needed to be complete.
Just hope it is a one time only registration with a paypal account and not receive countless emails from them afterwards. Undecided

If spam emails are a problem, just use a filter and direct all the spam straight to the junk folder.
I use disposable email ids to avoid this problem.
1350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: RIP Monero? on: November 30, 2016, 01:46:01 AM
I just bought a bunch because its coming back and coming back in a serious manner. Just watch and learn and remember that patience is key.

So happy I bought back in. XMR to the moon baby. Dont stop now!

XMR is a great coin and has been so for some time now. This little upset will do nothing to the greatness that is Monero !
It does have some backing here and there as some companies have adopted it as a payment method and not many altcoins and boast that now can they ?

Long live Monero !!

Well, a successful cryptocurrency will attract obituaries once in a while. People have stopped counting the number of times that obituaries have been written about Bitcoin. This won't be the last obituary written about Monero as well.  Smiley
1351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH under 8$!!! on: November 30, 2016, 01:43:18 AM
Maybe ZCash / ZClassic take the ETH Place after that Fork disaster Wink

Zcash? Ethereum offers something different compared to other altcoins, so it is unlikely that its place will be taken up by another altcoin.
Zcash currently has a market cap which is 1% of Ether's market cap.  Smiley
1352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: November 30, 2016, 01:32:36 AM
Arsenal vs Southampton - I would go with Arsenal here. Some injury worries for Arsenal - Olivier Giroud (groin injury) and Mathieu Debuchy (hamstring). They have not had a good record at home against premiere league opposition, but have a very good record against Southampton.

1355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What does Zcash mean for Ethereum? on: November 29, 2016, 01:39:59 AM
The only connection between Zcash and Ethereum is that both are over-hyped, over-priced alts.
Zcash corrected quite quickly, while all of us are still waiting for ETH to discover its true value.
1356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Casualty List on: November 29, 2016, 01:34:49 AM
Having shown the Bitcoin companies that are dead or showing a loss in their balance sheet. What then are the companies that are making money? I can only think of some of the darknet market places are making money, some high traffic gambling sites like NitrogenSports and maybe a few of the more dominant exchanges. I would think that even a Bitcoin company that is highly funded like 21 Inc. has no revenue and profit as of now.

This is true of any emerging technology. In the initial stages, they are cash guzzlers.
Once they scale up and have enough customers, they begin throwing out money. So Bitcoin companies are no different.
1357  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Joinmarket - Coinjoin that people will actually use on: November 28, 2016, 02:56:45 PM
An article on JoinMarket, although I would have preferred it if the final article mentioned joinmarket in the title

1358  Economy / Speculation / Re: [prediction] Next spike $560,000 14 months from now on: November 28, 2016, 03:42:20 AM
My recent log log plot would predict next spike of 80'000 by end of 2018 and 1Mio not before 2025.

The y axis (time scale) doesn't have any markings. So it is not possible to infer when the price will cross $1Mn from the chart.
In any case, I am ready to wait till 2025 if it means I get a windfall after that.  Smiley
1359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: time to buy Dogecoin on: November 28, 2016, 03:35:52 AM
I never really liked doge because they had a bunch of problems during launch

They became a success because the meme caught on. The community is what gives it value.
It is an alt which has far exceeded its initial potential.

The mainstream alternatives are litecoin, doge and gulden. Guldens 1.6.0 update coming this week will most likely catapult it to new the new mainstream alternative. Not in marketcap but value in what you getting.

Best bang for buck coin.

Gulden is in the top 20 right now, but too much volatility / volumes in the last couple of months.
I will wait for things to steady a bit, and then look at it.
1360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin 0.003 BTC by year's end (mega crash, LTC has 3 months left!) on: November 28, 2016, 03:20:21 AM
There was a time when Litecoin closely tracked bitcoin and 1 bitcoin was worth 100 litecoins.
This is no longer the case. Right now, no reason to invest in litecoins.
