For 5000 series cards 2.1 is the best but only by 2% or 3% or so.

Any hard evidence or just speculation. I am using 2.1 myself but I don't think it really is that much better than 2.4.

I want to see actual 2.1 vs 2.4 results for a 5xxx card showing 2.1 is better if that exists anywhere and also core to memory ratio analysis.

Thanks !

Not only Today ... I will payout 0.1 Per Day with min 10 Posts.

If you write your Post over 2-3 Days than you get 0.1 or 0.3 BTC , depends on the quality of your posts.

For the first time i will test it with 5 Btc.

I am confused Huh

What do I have to do since I have 1500+ posts and regularly post on the forums ?

Will I get 0.1 BTC / day as long as I keep your ad in my signature and regularly post ?

Besides, your signature is meant to be "bitcointrade.com" not "bitointrade.com", right ?

I will Pay 0.1 BTC Per Day / Per User for minimum 10 NEW Posts.

If You write 100 Post per Day you get only 0.1 BTC per Day.

The only thing you have to do to use the forum as normaly

But after 24H you can get 0.1 BTC again thats 3 BTC per Month

Ahh right Mybitcointrade  was a mistake O.o

OK. I will keep this for 0.1 BTC daily as long as you want me to ( or somebody makes a better offer ).

Thanks !

Done.

So I will have to post 10 posts anywhere else on the forum today, right ?

I think people using Spartan 6 will not get any higher hashrate from now and it looks like 180 - 200 MHash/s is the cap.

Doesn't eldentyrell three ring structure improve the performance or at least it will when the clock rate improves?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=49971.0;all

Yeah the prior person likely mispoke.  Some higher performance is possible.  ztex has boards running at 212 MH/s.  Still nobody is going to get 400 MH/s out of a Spartan so there will be no massive performance boost where a board costing roughly the same gets 25% or 33% or 50% higher performance.  The Spartan-6 is pretty well analyzed how so it is in the fine tuning.  A couple MH/s here and there.  Maybe someone gets a board going @ 220 MH/s which would be a nice 10% "free" compared to existing bitstreams but significantly higher performance is going to require a new class of chips.

There is no other 45nm chip which delivers the LUTs/$ that Spartan-6 does (without special "sweetheart" pricing) so that means waiting for the Artix-7 28nm chips to become available and at reasonable cost.  The largest Artix-7 chips likely can (eventually with a lot of bitstream analysis) achieve 500MH/s+ so a pair could provide the first GH/s board.  Still who know how long it will be (Q1-2013 ?) before Artix-7 provides better MH/$ than Spartan-6 does.

My point was exactly this. There is no way people using expensive 45nm parts will match BFL power hungry but cheap 65nm high performance parts like BFL.

Just wait till ArtForz gets his unit.

He will expose the chip in 2 minutes using JTAG probing Grin

BFL : all your secrets are belong to us !

Can anyone say Chinese BFL copy in 3 months or less Cheesy ?

I'm sorry to say that a part of every business (include ours) includes trade-secrects
which unfortunately cannot be disclosed. We really wished that this would not have
turned into a challenge for our users, since our business goal is to deliver high-tech
equipment for our targeted industry. JTAG probing will not help either...

Regards,

I bet ArtForz would disagree.

There are ways to make the chips talk just as there are ways to make people talk Wink

Im aware of BFL, forgot to mention that I live in Europe.

Reasons,

1.Insane prices to ship from US and pay toll and taxes.
2. And Ztex offers better guarantees and discounts.

Thats why im asking Smiley

Regards
Robin
Well I think somebody will end up being a EU reseller with manageable prices and no import duty etc.

But ZTEX offers 2 year warranty while BFL only 6 months Huh
1448  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ZTEX USB-FPGA Module 1.15x: 210 MH/s FPGA Board on: February 27, 2012, 10:58:50 AM
Maybe not the right thread to post in, but is anyone know if ztex(stefan) is working/planning to release on a new board with higher hashspeed? And maybe an eventual date?

Regards
Robin

I suggest going to look at the BFL product.

These results are BS. You are using SDK 2.6 which is not good at all.

I just took mine out to try the fix. Adding the lubricant helped for about 15 minutes of running. So I just ordered a replacement from ebay.

Yeah. I think if the bearing is shot / damaged then there is no point adding lube.

What lube did you use ?

Thanks !

I don't know what he used but sewing machine oil is a good choice for oiling fans.  Never use WD40.  It isn't an oil for some reason people think it is though.

Is there any thing better than sewing oil ?

Is this FanLube stuff just marketing ( expensive too ) or really worth it and better than regular sewing oil : http://www.noisy-computer-fans.co.uk/

See here the last points comparing this and sewing and 3 in one oils : http://www.sunbirdmanagement.co.uk/FANLUBE/FanLubeFAQs.htm

As always, I appreciate your detailed and researched insight D&T !

OK. As said tens of times here is what I am owed on the PPS 120% offer ( not proportional ) :

I mined for him a total of 205501 shares ( this was 2 days before he supposedly got hacked ; I stopped mining 2 days before the hack because my router broke )

He last paid me at 184168 shares.

He owes me 21333 shares at rate ( 60 / 1,379,647 = 0.000043489385328276 ) so total of ~0.93 BTC.

Proof I submitted 205501 shares right here : http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:Lr_rRazJ9zoJ:www.a1bitcoinpool.com/stats.php ( now unavailable but I am sure I did submit that many shares since I stopped 2 days before server got hacked and the page showed clearly 205501 total )

Thank you very much to Raize for the generous donation and for legolouman and everyone for compiling the data together.

I never thought I was going to get my $5 back ...

Thank you again and for me it is lesson learned : I will start learning all I can about P2Pool so we can be sure none of this ever happens again and Bitcoin can succeed and not succumb to greedy pool operators and the like.

Thank you again Raize and legolouman and P2Pool FTW !

Operation Get him a scammer tag was a success. I assume he can still redeem himself though?

Yeah. Maybe once payday comes he decides to be a man and face up to his wrongs and pay us back, but I doubt it.

Strange way to lose your reputation for $5 Sad

Minimum 20% (VAT) of total value (including shipping cost) goes to her royal majesty if I am not wrong.

If it arrives by courier, they may charge another fee on top of that for the handling.

BFL has now put international shipping cost at $88 (forgot what it was before but lower I think), that smells like courier to me.

Yes. This is absolutely right.

I imported a laptop from the US once and I had to pay 2 things : about 30 GBP to Parcelforce for handling it in the UK and about 20% VAT from the declared value of the package as import duty.

So, in summary : EU / UK guys get SCREWED by import fees.

Let us do some calculations : 450 GBP just price + 30 GBP handling fee + 90 GBP duty = 570 GBP price for everything ( just one single ) ?

Does it come with 240V and UK plug support ?

Anyone in the UK can confirm actual figures once they get a unit, if possible ?

Thanks !

1458  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: FPGA - 1st Quarter 2012 Summary (BFL vs. Icarus ?) on: February 24, 2012, 11:29:00 PM
ztek board is interesting but 200MH/s is just too low in face of 800 MH/s from BFL.  There is something to be said about the simplicity of a single large hashing engine.  But don't count ztek out (OP I think your BFL vs Icarus comparison is too narrow).

ztek has:
highest MH/W
highest MH out of a Spartan-6 LX150 (most efficient bitstream).
the company has also been around a long time and provides non Bitcoin products (some permanence is Bitcoin market dries up).
EU regulations require them to offer a 2 year warranty.
Regular firmware and software updates boosting miner performance.
overheat detection, and floating mhz adjustment in realtime based on error rate.

The problem is 200 MH/s is just too small.  It makes it very difficult to get costs down.  Likely nobody is beating BFL on cost but they need to get close.

I think a 4x LX150 board would be interesting.  It would have higher unit cost but power consumption should be ~35W
850 MH/s for 35W would be very impressive.  Now the LX150 costs ~$150 ea in bulk so that puts $600+ just for FPGAs.  In large volume the boards cost $100 over FPGA cost.  A 4 FPGA unit should have some reduction in parts (i.e. 1 USB controller vs 4, 1 40W DC PSU vs 4x 10W.  It may be possible to put a single large heatsink with 120mm (or 1400mm fan) across all 4 FPGAs ? reducing heatsink and fan costs.

Although it wouldn't be as cheap as BFL single, a 850 MH/s @ 35W board made by ztek for $800 would be a solid competitor.  Even $900 would be viable if BFL raises their price to $700 after pre-orders.

Yeah. This is music to my ears. A EU based BFL competitor is desperately needed.

4 chips on one big FPGA board = hardcore mining !

Just ordered one today with PayPal how long is UK delivery?  Emailed them this morning and they haven't got back yet?

PLEASE let us know when they arrive and how much you are taxed, VAT, import duty, shipping etc.

Eg all in all how much does a single unit cost fully in GBP to my door with all the extra $$$ included etc.

I bet they won't be marking them as "gifts" Roll Eyes

Thanks !
1460  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU FPGA overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC linux/windows/osx 2.3.1 on: February 24, 2012, 11:21:10 PM
Great job on the 2.3.1! I gained some 1% or even a bit more with my 5k series cards on both SDK 2.1 and SDK 2.4 systems, compared to 2.3.0 on phatk kernel.   Smiley

What kernel is this ? Still phatk one ?

I got 5870s. Can memory still be underclocked to 300 and you get still good performance ?

Thanks !

phatk as I mentioned  Wink

And on 2.1 & 2.4 SDK, yes they can. Not sure about 2.6, never used that with 5870s.

Currently hashing away at 444.4MH/s on a 950/300 5870, SDK 2.1 -g 1 -I 10 -w 256 -v 2, although -g 1 is probably not a good idea, just something I've stuck with . SDK 2.4 gives me the same, perhaps even very slightly faster hashrate Smiley

Can you try 950 / 300 on SDK 2.1 and 2.4 and see what the difference is ( make sure to delete the bins etc. ) ?

Maybe also try 960 core / 300 memory ?

What OS btw ?

Thanks !
