1501 Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should we ReBrand Bitcoin? on: February 16, 2017, 09:58:16 AM
When it comes to even rebranding of a product in the corporate world, you dont just go for it because you feel like no, there are several factors responsible for that among which include getting to the end of its life cycle and to rejuvenate the interest the company goes for rebranding and even looking at it, bitcoin is not a product that reaches the end of its life cycle with a short period of time, no its a currency and currencies dont get to end their life cycle they just depreciate which in this case bitcoin is appreciating and by so reason, I dont see the need for such re-branding...
1502 Economy / Speculation / Re: How Will It Affect The Bitcoin Price, If Satoshi Tell The Truth ? on: February 16, 2017, 06:58:22 AM
I will see the effect just marginal and the reason for that is because the project of bitcoin has grown beyond the dream of one individual or what he could have envisaged as at the time of building the project and now we have more normal users to the best of my ability than those who dont want to be found or see the traces of their transactions online. These set of people are those who will see the coming out of Satoshi as a threat to their own business and then move to another currency...

1504 Economy / Economics / Re: China and price on: February 15, 2017, 07:14:37 PM
Now I know China has been accused of keeping the price of their fiat down, so this leads me to a question.

Why would china want to keep the price of btc at or below 1000? And I'm not asking for answers around curbing the use of it, because I don't believe they want that. I'm asking for genuine thoughts on how it would benefit china to keep the price low. What long term strategy would they have? Because we all know china doesn't just do things because they want to. They've probably had meeting after meeting on how best to optimize bitcoin for their benefit.

The only way one can influence price is if its within one's control and in this case the only price Chinese government can control is theirs alone and not bitcoin because the origin and source of bitcoin, does not rest solely on China. If they make some moves against it, it will only influence the price in relation to their own currency and definitely not a determining factor. The earlier they know this the better for them...
1505 Economy / Speculation / Re: It is more like PBoC who? in China right now. Volume is through the roof! on: February 15, 2017, 06:32:57 PM
From the way the Chinese government is going about it, the only sure thing I can see here is them being successful at stopping new entrants into the world of bitcoin from their end and not those who are already in it because the set of people who are already in it will always find away out in making their transactions whether the government likes it or not because where there is a will, there will surely be a way...
1506 Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have Banks conspired to Kill Bitcoin Startups? on: February 15, 2017, 11:11:15 AM
This article claims that over 36 bitcoin exchanges have closed shop around the world, since October 2015, due to discontinuation of banking services to them.

Is it that commercial banks have conspired to make it difficult for bitcoin startups or they are just trying to abide by the present laws and regulations?

http://www.forbes.com/sites/rogeraitken/2017/02/12/bitcoin-or-bust-taking-british-banking-out-of-exchanges/#1e942876588e

The same thing we will continue to face until government can take position on the positive side. For me, its not the fault of the banks because they are there to make money and they will try every means to make that happen, imagine the revenue that will accrue to them from the volume of transactions of exchange sites but they will go against government regulations in other to avoid sanctions even over here the few exchange sites will ask you not to put anything related to 'bitcoin' when making deposits or transfer to their bank accounts...
1507 Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nigeria is Following Venezuela’s Bitcoin Trend on: February 15, 2017, 10:59:36 AM
Venezuela currently stands as one of the countries where Bitcoin has been embraced to a very large extent.

The world should expect a Bitcoin revolution out of the most populous black nation in the world.

A curve that is developing in Nigeria points in the same direction as what is happening in Venezuela, maybe to a lesser extent, though.

Link: http://www.valuewalk.com/2017/02/nigeria-following-venezuelas-bitcoin-trend/

Having read what is posted in that link of yours, I beg to disagree that because of the inflation being faced, then the way out is definitely the adoption of bitcoin, according to the article. In that same article, you only make reference to Venezuela without saying out rightly that they are using it over there and it has help arrest the country's inflation trend. To me, this article is not informative enough to actually say this is the way to go...
1508 Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is no longer a currency on: February 14, 2017, 07:50:06 AM
https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2013/04/bitcoin-is-no-longer-a-currency/274859/

An article from The Atlantic magazine - from 2013, way back in 2013 - declaring that bitcoin is not a currency, but "the ultimate tech stock"!

The four years since the article was written has proven that bitcoin is akin to an Amazon or Facebook (stock, not company), and much less "Pets.com". That's a good thing.

I have to agree with them. Every week that passes without a new company in any local metropolitan area deciding to accept bitcoin as currency is a two weeks further away from bitcoin actually being adopted, mainstream, as a currency.

Bitcoin is an investment. A stock or an asset class/commodity can be debated, although it doesn't much matter. Bitcoin is a store of value not a medium of exchange.

What do you think?

Your argument is slightly true but the issue of acceptance every week is not a determining factor that it is no longer a currency because it can happen that in a week several businesses might just adopt the currency without recourse to happen or how many adopts the previous week. Also, all over the world bitcoin is being known by at least one more person but not all are reported. And the massive inflow of acceptance will happen when government gives the go ahead and companies can come out to say, we accept this...
1509 Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We Have A Bitcoin City! Soon We Will Have Bitcoin Country! on: February 14, 2017, 06:26:40 AM
I would say this a major step and its something I am happy about but in as much as we give credit to those guys that started the movement over there we should also not be unmindful of the role government plays in making that a success, because without that, I am sure they won't have gone far and that is the problem we are having over here as government has come out to "we are not recommending this and if you do, you are doing at your own risk" that will make such movement likely impossible over here...
1510 Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any insurance service for gamblers to retain heavy losses....??? on: February 14, 2017, 06:20:36 AM
There is no insurance for this whatsoever, even in the real world no one will insure for a gambler. And for this service you are proposing, how will you calculate the premium and how many times will you pay for the loss. For someone who will patronise virtually all gambling sites, or who made losses on all the sites. How will you calculate the amount to indeminfy him or her. Insurance is not for business that is as risky as gambling because of its complicated status...
1511 Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BITSANE.COM Cryptocurrency Exchange Platform Is Now Live on: February 14, 2017, 06:06:07 AM
If I was open to ICOs, which I am not, I might prefer an ICO that is backed by legit people in the Bitcoin industry. People like Barry Silbert or someone who has been a known Bitcoin investor. If Roger Ver started an ICO I would surely line up to participate to get some coins.

The Chronobank project you mentioned is not something I have in mind. It has to be something bigger.

The chronobank project is something I won't give a serious thought because I just begin to wonder if the ICO will even end for months now, I have been seeing their advert on all social media platforms. The conditions set out by Bitsane is actually good to guide against their reputation and to not be labelled as a dumping ground because that's what developers will want to get an exchange site to boost their status and then dump...
1512 Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: is there any dice site with free giveaway? on: February 14, 2017, 05:59:39 AM
i keep hearing about gambling dice, so i wanted to give it a try but i don't want to deposit my money yet.

also i have heard they usually do giveaways.

so is there any of them currently giving away some amount that i can play with?
(no deposit bonus)

Virtually all the sites have freebies especially dice site or high and lo ones but the issue there is you need to be careful and read the rules embedded in the freebies while some are very straight forward, others comes with some form of conditions and if you violate, you might get to lose your winnings after much effort in growing it. Also, don't expect something big that you will use to win 1btc because it won't happen...
1513 Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel shameful for being a gambler? on: February 13, 2017, 08:07:34 PM
That will be a shameful if you turn into gambler addict, you will lose control of yourself, start to borrowing money to people around you, have a lot debt and could be end into jail.

Personally I'm not really often do gamble and since I used bitcoin only for payment people around me don't know my gambling activity.
If people know my gambling activity, I'm not ashamed, because I used it with my money.

Its only you that sees that until when one becomes addicted to the losing part of gambling that it might be shameful but the community does not see it that way. Over here, the moment you move close to the vicinity of the gamblers even if its for sight seeing you are already judged and this brings shame. For me, when I want to gamble, I stick to my bitcoin so I don't have to report my activities to anyone...
1514 Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: lucky ! does it influences by a woman beside of us? on: February 13, 2017, 07:43:03 PM
I have been reading some of the messages on the thread and I have not seen anyone who agrees that this theory actually worked, if that had been, I would want to also practice it and will even gambling beside a random girl that I have not even spoken to before since that would have been my lucky charm but it is not and it will never be. If it happens, then its purely coincidence...
1515 Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you still use Bitcoin if price would be stable for years? on: February 13, 2017, 06:05:37 PM
For me, I would even preferred a stable price if and something high enough to make everyone happy. From the way I see it, an increase in the price of bitcoin from the price I had set in my mind is a bonus to me while a decrease, I see it as a loss so the driving force of myself to bitcoin is not the continuous increase and I am sure if that can be achieved then we can debunk the myth that bitcoin is a ponzi scheme that would soon crash...
1516 Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as Main Currency on: February 13, 2017, 05:42:31 PM
I was just curious but, what would you guys think if Bitcoin was the main currency of America. Would you like it and agree with it or would you agree with the current main currencie(s) we have.

Even if individuals wanted the coin to be the main currency, the government still have the final say on what becomes what. And looking at the historical analysis, as developed as America is, people have grown to known dollars as their currency in which other countries have even keep their foreign reserves in that currency in which we can still not separate the influence of America from. Also, the notion that bitcoin is used by hackers so they cannot be traced is even still there among other campaigns against bitcoin. So in my own opinion, I will go with the idea that, bitcoin should be what it is until when its time for people to absorb it...
1517 Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Taxation on the alts on: February 13, 2017, 05:31:29 PM
Hey

How do you calculate taxes on alt-coins bought and sold with Bitcoin? For example if i bought 10 bitcoins worth of Monero, and monero rose 10% and i decides to sell for that extra bitcoin, how does that become taxed? Furthermore if/when i decide to sell the 11 bitcoin i now have for fiat, how might that be taxed? Thank you in advance.

Why would you bother yourself when government that is saddled with the responsibility of collecting taxes has not asked to come and pay tax and even if the government of your country has asked you to pay tax then you shouldnt bother yourself so much about the technicalities because they will know how to do the computation and if you are not ok with it, you can ask for how they arrive at that amount if your tax liability...
1518 Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for 0.03 loan on: February 13, 2017, 04:31:08 PM
Don't have much in terms of collateral but willing to work with someone and provide something. Will pay back 2/7/17 0.036btc. pm with questions

You are definitely a joker because what you have done here is actually an insult on the good people of this forum who are here to do business and do it with good at the same time not willing to soil that name for any reason. But you, even as a JR Member in the forum which shows an appreciable level of understanding of the rules of the forum but it appears you are not even reading or observing those rules.

The BTC I was expecting came early, so I'm sending over now. Using preev.com I come with 0.0325. I'm sending to

A confirmation of my position...
1519 Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Free $10 (0.01 BTC) on: February 13, 2017, 02:53:50 PM

Anybody have tried this website:??

Earn free bitcoin

They're giving free $10 (0.01 BTC) per day by completing task. Did anyone have received payment from this site. Let's open discussion for this thread. Kiss

Good for making us know but one thing I am so sure of, is that this will definitely be simple as it seems even if it is true I am sure there is much more to this than what is being posted here.

I just tried and it is very complicated as they are asking to post the link of HTML what they are giving to your webpage but i dont have any web page so i am not eligible to claim, and the offer is for only coinbase wallet holders

Even if you are eligible, I am sure there will still be tasks upon tasks in other to get the amount promised until you are not able to complete the tasks again then you give up. Afterall nothing is FREE...
1520 Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a chance Satoshi is dead? Car accident, heart failure, ect on: February 12, 2017, 03:49:06 PM
Nobody seems to have a good answer to where Satoshi has gone and why he and his coins have not been seen for years.

I can think of only a few reasons why that might be.

1. He wants btc to succeed and knows spending his coins will cause a massive panic.
2. He is already rich and has no need for more money.
3. He was hired/tagged by an agency or institution and is under NDA.
4. He is sick of btc.
5. He hates attention/spotlight and does not want the leadership role.

What if the answer is even simpler? He had a car accident / heart failure and died. His wallets are lost and therefore never spent.

This is so much more reasonable and probable than "satoshi is an AI" or other crazy theories here. It's sad, but I think this might be the truth.

Its a possibility that he is truly dead because whether he is alive or dead has not stop the growing and popularity of bitcoin and the only thing for me that it has added is the fact that we have so many people claiming they are bitcoin but if he is not dead he should just let us know so that when he eventually dies because everyone will surely do that one day. But he should just help us solve the controversy surrounding his personality and everyone claiming credit for this project...
