1541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top 5 most hilarious ICOs ever on: February 10, 2020, 05:55:24 AM
I already heard those coins and it's totally funny how they create those cryptocurrency and how they end up on those ideas. Actually, I finish to read that article few days ago and among those ICO the Jesus Coin totally got my attention like it will be the coin that will save you from hell lol!. Another funny ICO in the article is the project that about Vitalik who is the founder of Ethereum. And, even it get some attention on the internet, it was not able to succeed. We don't really expect that there are some people who will create those kind of cryptocurrencies and for me, it's totally funny.
1542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is this time to Sell altcoins before BTC Halving on: February 09, 2020, 04:15:28 PM
What is your suggestion please comment.
Have you ever seen that some of the altcoins have now a great improvement today and basically, they will also rise again just like what happens to bitcoin right now. The best option that you can do right now is to diversify your portfolio and try to focus on other altcoins then not only in bitcoin. The performance of altcoins and bitcoin is now pretty good and if ever you have good altcoins in your portfolio it's better to be patient and sell it out in the best time. There's nothing to be panic and it's normal to see the upside-down of the market and keep your eye in bitcoin because you will really see the improvement on its price this year.
1543  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Slow Access forum on: February 09, 2020, 03:13:45 PM
@theymos has confirmed on Meta that it’s a DDos attack (see Slow accessing the forum). This does happen every now and then. The forum seems to be going pretty smooth now, so perhaps it’s over by now. Check the above referenced thread later onto see if there are any more updates.

The forum is now behaving normal and there is no signs of slowness. I hope the DDoS attack is over and everything is fine for now.

All of us are experience the slow access in the forum lately, then upon waiting for a couple of hours, it seems the forum is now back to normal and there's no problem at all.
1544  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Kingdom Filipina Hacienda: scam or not? on: February 09, 2020, 02:32:39 PM

Last month I made a topic about Maharlika Money kung saan isang organization/group ang mayroong sariling pera na nafeature sa kmjs. At ngayon habang nanonood, isang episode na naman ng panibagong organization na nagcaclaim na may sariling currency sa may Iligan. Pero compare to Maharlika Money, masasabi kong isang malaking scam ang pinaglalaban ng Kingdom of Filipina Hacienda which is sinasabing monarchy type of system dito sa Pilipinas na isang democratic country.

1545  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy only bitcoin or take chances in altcoin casino? on: February 09, 2020, 08:55:33 AM
Why not enjoy both of the worlds?  Grin

I have my largest portion of portfolio based on BTC, but I have some altcoins too, but only the top altcoins, like ETH, XMR etc
I prefer not to invest on unknown altcoins because there is a lot of bad projects and I don't have a lot of time to research, I have to do my regular job everyday, so I'm satisfied with my strategy
Same with you, having a huge portion of bitcoin in our portfolio might be a good option and it seems other members here also have this kind of portfolio. We all aware that bitcoin is a very valuable cryptocurrency that's why some people only stick with this investment. But, we should still diversify our investment to different good cryptocurrencies. Investing in a unknown altcoins will gonna waste your time and money so it's better to avoid it, just focus on the good altcoins. And, if ever you don't have enough time to do research maybe it's better to stick on the altcoins that you know because investing in a new project gives you a hard time like you need to check their background, website, the team behind the project and many more. Lastly, just keep on investing in bitcoin but not also forget to invest in the top altcoin just like what you have mentioned.
1546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: To All Bounty hunters on: February 09, 2020, 07:47:39 AM
Don't expect 2017 to be back again for bounty projects because now a days all the ICO projects are shit and very less likely to be successful which means you are wasting a lot of your times with no gain almost.
Even we can't see a bounty project that was like in the year 2017 there's a good project out there that will also bring an income to us. But, based on what I see there are more scam and failed projects than good projects. Most of the ICO last year 2019 and 2018 have more cases of scam that's why it's hard to invest now and actually, it's hard to regain the trust of the investors especially if he/she got scam multiple times. So far, it's better to invest in all old projects than wasting your time and money in investing in a new project which has no guarantee that will succeed.
1547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin banking system on: February 09, 2020, 07:07:13 AM
I doubt that. First is, the bank is everywhere and the government is regulating them. So do you think that the government will let  that happen? Bitcoin cannot easily kill the banking system since people are still dependent on them and fiat. When you ask random people, majority of them still trust the bank. The government as well as banks might end up adopting digital currency, but that doesn't mean it will kill banking system.

We cannot really conclude that banks are afraid of btc because it's too early and we're still far from massive crypto adoption. You're right about Bitcoin having an advantage over fiat, and so does fiat. Both of them has an advantage that's why they can really work together in the future.  And I never really see Bitcoin killing banking system because both of them has their own function.
1548  Economy / Scam Accusations / Don't fall for this fake Libra Site! on: February 08, 2020, 04:48:46 PM
So upon reading some messages on telegram and something took my attention. I have searched about it to gather info and found out that this has been discussed before, and it's all about Uplibra.io being a scam site. There's already a previous thread where they have discussed this issue. Here's the link to that topic if you want to see more opinions about Uplibra:

Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5180645.msg52349206#msg52349206

It was posted last year yet up until now, there are still people who fall for this scam. Maybe they are not aware of it so this thread might somehow help you.

Centralized and Decentralized Idea: That's fake.

Here's a screenshot of my telegram where one member of our group chat asked about libra because he thought Uplibra is a legit one. It is said that it was just a fake Libra and even the twitter account is not official at all.

When you go to their so-called official website, you can sign up using your Facebook account which is very risky. You can also get your free Libra as a welcome bonus, claiming a bonus, loyal bonus, affiliate, and app bonus. (You can find this info on their website). It looks so good that people easily give their trust and for the fact that the name Libra is already known by most of us.

With the free 1,000,000 Libra they are promoting, their own site, a twitter account with over thousands of followers, and a Facebook page, no wonder why people are believing in Uplibra. However, their team already said that they are not connected to the Facebook team and that it is not an official product of Facebook Libra, so how come people still believe in this project? Since I have made short research, seeing how many people are commenting on their tweets show that they are good at convincing people.

This is the reason why I created this thread, it's to inform everyone, especially newbies that we should always be careful when trusting different projects. Sometimes it looks so real and legit but will end up being a scam project so we really need to be cautious.
1549  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull run confirmed ? bitcoin ready to $10.000 on: February 08, 2020, 04:08:54 PM
I am impressed by this crypto world, when the price was  $6500 and have many negative forecasts that said that if the price broke the  $8200 we would already be in the bull run, then it changed and said that we had to break the $9000, then they changed and said must break the $9500, now they are saying must break the $10,000 to be in the bull run? impressive
Looks like people are not satisfied for all the effort of bitcoin. Well, its just a speculation and its normal nothing to panic. The bull is already started since we pump last year and bouncing back from the bull is good for the bitcoin market. People wont be satisfied not unless they make money, then so be it. We are ready for more and we will go for more, this is bitcoin the bull will make big impact.
Maybe they will get satisfied once the bitcoin goes back to its all-time price but at this moment we still far from that. I'm positively satisfied with the great improvement of bitcoin since I invested around 6000$ to 7000$ something like that. People always greed on money that's why even think the improvement in the price of bitcoin still not enough. Bitcoin is now on the way of reaching the 10,000$ which is more exciting and I guess those slowly rising is another phase of the new bull market.
1550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What would make you stop gambling? on: February 08, 2020, 02:45:10 PM
- making enough or a lot of money.
but can you see other things than that?
Whenever I gain profit from playing and I already regain my capital I will instantly stop. Although, it's hard to stop if you already earn profit still we need to control ourselves or our eagerness to earn more profit because it might end up losing entire funds. Yet, we should be more responsible for playing so we can control ourselves if we going to stop. Aside from that, once you already earn profit maybe try to stop or try to withdraw the profit that you have gain then play again, and if ever the funds that you left got lose maybe that time is the time to stop playing.

Not everyone gambles for money. Some gamble just to have fun and enjoy different risks they are taking. They just accept their winnings as a form of reward. Even if someone earns a lot of money, you shouldn't be surprised if they gamble. If you go to a high stakes table in a casino, you will mostly find rich people playing over there who doesn't care much about the money they are about to lose.
Passion might help someone stop gambling (more like an gambling addict) if he manages to focus well on his passion during his leisure hours.

My all intention when I play gambling is to enjoy my time when I'm bored and I just play for fun and nothing more. But now, I just focus on doing trading than gambling that's why I limit myself when spending money on it.  For me, it's better to risk my money in trading rather than risking it on temporary happiness which is gambling. Some people have a passion for playing gambling but still, you need to manage it because all your money is in high stakes.
1551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bull run top 5 Alts for 2020. on: February 08, 2020, 10:23:37 AM
Among all the altcoins that you have mentioned OP, I only have Ethereum and some of those cryptocurrency is my first time to see and heard. We have different choices when it comes to this and I don't know why you not list the Binance coin, Ripple, and Litecoin (still undecided whether on buying or not) which is now starting to rise again and they are the preferrable altcoins of other members here. For me, I will go with Ethereum, Ripple ,and Binance coin and they are my top altcoins for this year. Although, you already have your top altcoins for this year, we should not forget to invest in Bitcoin. Even the situation of market is now in the good condition, we should be prepare on all things that will happen in the next couple of months especially the halving is near and that might be cause of another bull run.
1552  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ways of earning merit. on: February 07, 2020, 04:47:22 PM
I have been saying this a lot, and for sure everyone too. It's about the quality of your posts and topics. Ways of earning merits from the past year aren't different from 2020, it's still the same. If it's worthy of receiving merit, someone will give you. Most people here are kind when it comes to giving merit, you just have to make sure that you are deserving. But most of the users are looking for quality content, the one who gives information that can give additional knowledge here. Some are also looking at the attitude towards other users. So basically you just need to be you and give a contribution.
1553  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A lesson learnt on: February 07, 2020, 02:38:40 PM
And I think its same thing that's happening with new IEO projects now, this is why I recommend people to go for old projects instead of new projects, while holding new coins in your wallet they will become useless just in time, old projects have proven their worth and they are here to stay
So far, I didn't even go with the new projects due to seeing the different failed projects. It's riskier to invest your money in the new project than in the old one and honestly speaking I haven't seen any successful project today and if ever there is I hope they have more advancement and they have more useful use-cases. The old project just like what you see in the Coinmarketcap is the evidence that they totally worth it to invest and no matter what happens Bitcoin will still on rank 1. To the OP, maybe it's better to use money in the wise investment than still doing the mining and if you intend to continue it make sure you will mine the good coins.
1554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TOP 6 BEST WALLETS TO STORE YOUR ERC-20 on: February 07, 2020, 10:13:23 AM
Based on my experience, the Myetherwallet, Metamask wallet, and Trust wallet (I just recently used) are the good wallet when it comes to storing of ERC-20. In fact, in just a couple of minutes, you can instantly set up those wallets. I've trust wallet in my phone and it is also easy to set up just like other wallet and upon seeing the feedback on the play store seems many people already download this app. Aside from that, you can set up a pin code or fingerprint on the Trust wallet to add more security to your wallet and it can also able to create multiple wallet accounts. You can also use the mobile of MyEtherwallet which is the Mewconnect but as of now, I still don't have any experience with this wallet. But, I guess it just like a Trust wallet and it seems you just need to connect it in your Myetherwallet account. We should always consider the security of the wallet if we going to store our investment.

Hardware wallet can also support ERC-20 and you should add it in your choices when it comes to the best wallet for cryptocurrency. Then, do not forget to keep your private key and make a back up of it. And, Never ever share or show your private key to anyone.
1555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Usage Among Merchants Is Up on: February 07, 2020, 04:38:47 AM
Pro bitcoin payments by Merchants are increasing. That's a good sign for adoption, yeah. I remembered one Merchant I got a chance to talk to him for a few minutes. I ask him how's the progress for bitcoin payments. And yeah, the answer is probably same like other Merchant's owners. It wasn't yet  often used. And that our countrymen isn't yet ready to spend it thus still majority, considering it as a store value than of spending it as a payment.

It's no surprise that most customers don't use them as payment. It's either they don't know about bitcoin or they don't want to spend it. They are indeed increasing although in my case, I haven't seen one in my country that accepts crypto payments. I know there are some merchants in my country that accepts crypto but I just haven't encountered one yet. The thing is, although I know it's increasing, I can't feel it myself. I guess we're still early for mass adoption but it's the start.

The adoption of bitcoin as another mode of payment to merchants is still starting that is why we can’t compare it to credit cards and debit cards. As the adoption of bitcoin increases every year more and more merchants are also thinking of adopting it just to survive and be ahead from there competitors, we may see still a few merchants who accepts bitcoin but is t is only a matter of time that bitcoin will be considered another way to make payments for our goods and services.

Just like what you have said, Bitcoin payment is just starting so it is nothing compared to the number of usage of credit and debit cards. It's almost everywhere like almost everyone has one. But the good thing is that even though there's debit and credit, the merchants still have a space for crypto payments. That they are still willing to accept it even though there's no much customer who uses it.

1558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Usage Among Merchants Is Up on: February 06, 2020, 05:14:45 PM
Bitcoin usage on the merchant is increasing every year. Although it's nothing compared to the use of credit cards. Bitcoin has a $4 billion purchasing power while credit card has $3.7 trillion, but not bad for Bitcoin since Bitcoin is still growing.

“In 2020, we’re hyper-focused on providing a complete merchant experience with business features and insights, better serving other geographies with internationalization, adding more currencies, and building seamless integrations that leverage other Coinbase products,” Coinbase Commerce lead Sahil Amoli told CoinDesk.

A merchant in Paris was interviewed regarding crypto transactions. According to him, people are still not ready for crypto payments and that they prefer to keep it rather than spend it. He has a point and it's obvious why. But for him as a merchant, he prefers receiving crypto payments than PayPal. Because of the nature of his business, he often receives payments digitally because their products cost a huge amount of money. But since his business is about lingerie boutique, customers (mostly men) prefer Bitcoin than credit cards to avoid showing up on their bills what they had both.

Source:
https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-usage-among-merchants-is-up-according-to-data-from-coinbase-and-bitpay

This just shows that some customers and merchants prefer crypto payments, no wonder why Bitcoin usage increases. As it continues to grow, customers and store owners are starting to see the real value of cryptocurrency. It can give them benefits that other payment options can't. It will make them realize that bitcoin is a lot more advantageous by making the transaction much convenient for the merchant and the customer. Like the customer doesn't need to bring money to purchase a product because they can easily pay with bitcoins using their phones as long as they have internet access.

Quote
“People are not ready to pay with crypto. They prefer to keep it rather than spend it,” Daumas said.

Although just like what he said, most of us would rather choose to keep our coins than to spend it, and I'm somehow guilty about it. Most of us see the value of bitcoin as an investment that we need to store than a currency we can use for day to day transactions. One issue I see is that there's still no enough merchants that accept Bitcoin unless it's a luxury brand.

Every day, crypto adoption is increasing so I really think that there should be something that will help merchants to learn crypto payments.

Also, I've seen this poster and it catches my attention because it suits the merchants. This kind of lesson should be included in the curriculum to teach young people especially those who are in a business-related course to know cryptocurrency. Business students are the future businessmen and entrepreneurs and in the future, we will achieve more adoption so it should be taught to them. Millennials will be needing it sooner and when they grow up.  If they teach students about credit cards, why not start teaching them about crypto right?

Do you guys feel the growth of Bitcoin among merchants, like do you see increasing of shops that accept Bitcoin payment? And does add crypto to the curriculum would really make merchants accept Bitcoin?

PS: I'm not posting this to promote the site, I just want to share the news with everyone.
1559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: For newbies only on: February 06, 2020, 02:16:06 PM
When it comes to the cryptocurrency wallet we should definitely choose the trusted one because it is also for the security of our coins. Mostly some of the new cryptocurrency wallets are usually suspected as a scam and if ever you going to use it try to check all feedbacks or the team behind it so you can distinguish that it is safe to use.

Most of the hackers always target the newbie due to having a lack of knowledge and experience in the field of cryptocurrency. But, they can still avoid it if they are responsible for making research on a certain thing. Do your own research (DYOR) is always the advice of other members here and even me because if you are good enough on doing it then you will easily determine if the crypto wallet is a scam or fake.

If you going to download a cryptocurrency wallet maybe stick with the trusted and reputable wallet so there's assurance on the safety of your coins.
1560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are the best project for investing in 2020? on: February 06, 2020, 06:09:31 AM
Hi guys,
I have one bitcoin and I want to invest it in 3 or 4 projects that have a good potential for return of investments. And because of existing a lot of projects, I hope that you suggest to me some projects according to your visions so I can study them and choose which I can invest in.
Thank you.
If you intend to put your funds in good investment why not keep it in the solid coin or basically the top-performing cryptocurrency. If you still undecided try to look in the coinmarketcap where you can see the list of ranking of all cryptocurrency. I don't have any idea about new project and I already witness different scam new projects that's why its better to stick with the top-performing cryptocurrency. If you still intend to invest in new project make sure you conduct a background checking on their team, whitepaper, website and etc. By just doing it you can find out if the new project is worth it to invest.

Bitcoin and Ethereum might be considered for the best investment, but not with XRP, even though they have many good partnerships. I only focus on the two good cryptos for 2020, Bitcoin and Ethereum, Halving Bitcoin and ETH 2.0 are among the factors that I see.
Ripple (xrp) is also worth to invest and it just like bitcoin and ethereum which have great potential in the future. Then, try to look it in the market where it also ripple is climbing and there is also some news about it than can trigger the price to increase. So basically, I can say that we should include the xrp in our portfolio because this coin will also brings you an income.
