1041  Economy / Economics / Re: Did COVID-19 Bring Any Positive Sign? on: May 19, 2020, 06:36:18 AM
Generally, that can be the positive effect of quarantine and lockdown, not the virus itself. The virus is the one bringing a negative impact on everyone. But if we are going to look at the other possibilities or another perspective, not everyone can feel this kind of positive effect.

First, about spending family bonding, not everyone has a caring and loving family. Some can be abusive which is not healthy for others who have no choice but to spend the whole quarantine with them. Plus, people who are less fortunate can't think of bonding with their families because they need to worry where can they get money to fees them. The use of technology and other related online activities is only for those who are knowledgeable and have enough resources.

You can still see the difference between those who have the privilege. Just like what others have said, some of this positive effect can only be felt by those who are more fortunate.
1042  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel this pressure on physical gambling? on: May 18, 2020, 04:44:35 PM
In physical gambling (whether it's a big casino or just small gambling), do pressure on your opponents or playmates actually happen? Like for example, you only set a limited capital but since your friends still want to play, you will end up using all of your money. Or let's say in a casino, you have used all of your allotted money on gambling but since your opponent is winning and he wants to play more, do you exceed on your limit? Just because you don't want to look like you are afraid, that you don't have enough money already, and that you are losing?

Since I do online gambling, I don't feel this kind of pressure. I can stop whenever I want or when I have used all of my money. I don't feel embarrassed or what.
That's sure to happen if you are so friendly to your friend and you don't know how to say no, I can't say no to a friend but not to someone I don't know and playing against with, but be sure to tell your friend before you start playing that you only have this money to play, so he will not expect more from you, it's better to be honest with your friend.
I think it's easier if your opponent is a friend of yours. Because they can understand if you really don't have enough money to gamble more. But if it's a stranger, he could judge you for quitting. Your right, it's better, to be honest than to push yourself to your limit just because you are embarrassed about quitting.

Why get pressured? It is your money that you are spending, you should not think of other people inside the casino. You get pressured, you will be wasting more money than you should be. That could also mean your family or yourself is deprived of something because of gambling. Remember that your money is precious and gambling is honestly a waste of money. If I gamble, it should be limited to the smallest amount. The hell I care about other gambler pressuring me.

Maybe he feels not right if he doesn't follow to spend like what his friends did, so that makes him spend more money on gambling. But yes, I think that he needs to remind that his money is something that he owns, and he doesn't need approval from other people to spend more or stop gamble. Limiting cash is something that we must do because if we cannot limit the money, we will lose all of the money in a short time.
Well, I have not experienced that kind of pressure since I don't gamble in physical casinos. I prefer online with no pressure. That's why I'm asking if physical gamblers have that kind of pressure. Yes, it's our own money and we can decide what to do about it but sometimes friends can give you pressure without them knowing it, by simply teasing you that you are afraid to bet more money, right?
1043  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 3 Altcoins Set To Explode in 2020 on: May 18, 2020, 02:35:17 PM
I've never heard about the Polis token before and just what others said, it seems the OP shilling this coin/project. Besides, no one will ever believe that that token will gonna explode this year 2020 unless you are a fan of this token.

I am not a fan of their coin, but i use their mobile app a lot. I like the fact that they don't force you to buy Polis, you can pay in any coin you want. I pay my Netflix subscription and my mobile bills with their app and never had a problem. And some big updates are coming in the next few months, when the app will be available worldwide. I am sure Polis will become a important part of the crypto ecosystem in the near future.

I made this topic to help people who want to invest in projects with a real use case, and Ethereum, Binance Coin and Polis are the best investments you can do right now.

Always do your own research.
Actually, no one really forces us to buy any cryptocurrencies. Besides, it's our choice when it comes to this. I'm not entirely sure if you are really not a fan of their coin because sometimes in order to fully use the app (all features) of a project you need to buy or use their token. You are using their app so probably you are also a holder of their .token? Am I right? Only Binance Coin and Ethereum are worth it to invest right now and not Polis. Based on your profile, there's a feedback that you are shilling this Polis project. Personally, I will never include this token in my portfolio.

That's right, we should always do our own research especially if we are going to invest/risk our money, and not to easily believe in what others are recommending without giving prior knowledge about a certain coin.
1044  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling hiding, rules ignored. on: May 18, 2020, 12:37:12 PM
You can report it to the authorities so that they can learn their lesson. It's prohibited yet they are doing it.
I have told several local officials, the results are not satisfactory, they have official permission from the highest official, I do not know who it is....!

For various reasons, after all the casino guards included members of the military desatemem, which were paid.
The casino is already old age around the 1990s.
I do not know behind it all, whether it was on purpose or there are other elements.

That should not have happened, with circumstances like this.
But it's prohibited for the moment because of the pandemic, how come they have permission? I think that's something fishy. Your country imposed a policy regarding gambling, but then there's an exclusion? If that casino is really being backed up by higher officials, it means that there is a double standard. If it's a normal citizen, it's not allowed and they are violating the rules, but if it's the authorities, they are allowed? As if authorities can't be affected by the virus.

Maybe the operator of this casino is being backed up by politicians or police maybe as they can still perform even that the government are locking them down.
good question, that's for sure anywhere, they are the most active, but 'not them, (person).....certain...!
If that's the case, then I think it would be a good idea to report these assholes to a higher officials other than your local government units. We can't just easily risk our health safety only because we want to gamble and enjoy and take advantage of this draconian event. LOL Roll Eyes
Yes, they won't stop using their power for their own benefits unless they get caught. These people are abusive of their power. People like this should not serve the country.

I know the Government said we cannot afford a second wave pero tingin ko doon pa din pupunta seeing how people flocked the malls in Metro Manila after being downgraded to MECQ from posts on social media.

1046  Economy / Economics / Re: US is so poor that president trump constantly attack China. on: May 18, 2020, 10:26:14 AM
China is not cheap to manufacturing goods.
but cheaper than manufacturing it in the US.

Apple pay so much tax to the China government to the point that nobody know how much it’s paid, no data is leaked to the public, and China can buy the entire USA with cash that’s generated from tax money.
What I'm saying is that the reason for an incompetent government is not related to why they choose to manufacture in China. The reason why they are paying huge amounts of money in China is that they are producing it in China so they are obliged to pay there. But I think it's too much when you say that the amount of tax that Apple is paying to China can buy the US.

You already said that nobody knows how much they pay China so how can you say that it can actually buy the entire US?

Nobody know why apple refuses to return to their home land, US has whatever China have, young talent, manufacturing fab, low cost labour that willing to work for Amazon, easy credit, raw materials, everything they wish for, but apple refuse to return.
It's the manufacturing process that is held in China but it does not mean that everything is from China. They own the design and the material is from different parts of the world.
1047  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling hiding, rules ignored. on: May 17, 2020, 03:31:54 PM
You can report it to the authorities so that they can learn their lesson. It's prohibited yet they are doing it. People won't stop and won't regret something until they were caught.

I have not seen anything like that personally but I have seen in the news that there are really some people who would risk everything just to gamble even if there's a gambling ban. Worse is that they would use the financial support given to them by the government. These people won't learn their lesson and will keep on doing it again and again because they think they won't get caught. They are risking their health and can also get arrested. Masks and gloves are not enough to prevent them from the virus, especially that they are gathering just to gamble.

1048  Economy / Economics / Re: US is so poor that president trump constantly attack China. on: May 17, 2020, 02:52:06 PM
If you are talking about the production that are mostly being made in China, it's because China has a low labor expense. It's not only the US but most products are being made in China because of cheap labor.

If I’m a honest tax payer I would pay my tax to the one who will use the money for the better good of all human being. No wonder many productive company start moving their production to China, they rather pay tax to their enemy than pay tax to fund their own government. That include company from US, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, German, EU, UK, India, Russia, Australia, Canada, Africa, Dubai. Who’s willing to pay taxes to US government please hand down. Who is willing to pay taxes to the China government please hand up. Ask yourselves do you like to pay taxes to the US government? And ask yourselves again do you like to don’t pay taxes to the China government?
Everyone wants to see that their money is in good hands and the taxes they are paying are being used in an effective project. Although for me, it's not about which country is earning money on production. It's more practical for some big producing companies if the production was held in China because it will lessen the expenses on labor. And after all, when you sell your product in your country, your government will still receive your tax payment. Production in China doesn't necessarily mean that there would be no available job for US citizens. The whole process is not only about production.

I don't think that Apple would rather give their money to China because they think that their country's government is incompetent. I also don't think they will benefit from paying China when they are not even a citizen of that country. Actually I think, the US government is earning enough because Apple has a worldwide sale. They are selling their product in different countries, and the US is the one benefitting from it.

If you think that the US government is not good at their job, it has nothing to do with most company production in China. And you could also add a link or source where Trump is attacking China to connect it with your title.

I've never heard about the Polis token before and just what others said, it seems the OP shilling this coin/project. Besides, no one will ever believe that token will gonna explode this year 2020 unless you are a fan of this token. Though you advise us to do little research, I'd still not gonna risk my funds to this kind of project and it's better to spend our funds on the project that js capable of bringing profits. And to be safe, we should stay away from this project. I'm currently holding a few amounts of Binance coin and Ethereum. Although we really don't know when will they gonna explode, I'm still quite confident that these tokens have the potential to hit new ATH prices in the market. There are many tokens out there that might gonna hit this year that's why we need to be good on choosing and always to conduct deep research if you are planning to invest in new projects.

The update of Ethereum will gonna be in the month of July and we also don't know if this huge update will have a great impact on its price. As for now, we should watch this coin and if you have a spare amount of money try to invest in this coin.
1051  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some People Cannot Stop The Urge To Sports Betting And Gamble Even In Pandemic on: May 17, 2020, 07:56:31 AM
I heard from my Mom that some of our neighbors who received financial support from the government were used to buy alcoholic beverages and gamble instead of using it as an emergency fund during the pandemic. Gambling addicts lose their sense of responsibility, as mentioned by some people the worse case scenario would be for some people sell organs to black market to satisfy their greed.
Yeah, I don't know why people have this kind of poor mindset, the government is trying to help them in the pandemic of COVID-19 but they have this kind of mindset and use the money to their greed use it to gamble or buy things that is not essential. A lot of people here in our country are caught gambling even though it is not allowed to go outside since digital currency is not really adopted here in our country they just go in the neighborhood and play.

Having this poor mindset will make you poor and stay poor, without a job to make a living they should be wise where to spend their money especially the money came from the government.
Maybe because that is the reason.
They received support from the government, they were being helped that's why they don't mind if they just spend the support money in gambling or in any activities. People tend to burn the money especially if it is not coming from their hard work. Also, this might be their reason to satisfy themselves because there is no such thing they can do during this lockdown.
They can't use the reason of boredom why they are gambling because it's not enough. And if they are bored, how can they gamble the money they asked from the government that they said they need to feed themselves? They come asking for the government's help looking like they're poor and that they don't have something to eat. But when the government gave them financial support, they will use it in unnecessary things. If they did not receive any help in the first place, they will cry and blame everything to the authorities why they are struggling and starving.

Even the government officials who supposed to be the one to stop people from gambling, they are also gambling. It's very ironic how these people really have the guts to violate the rules wherein it's either, they can't afford to feed themselves, or they should be the one imposing the rules since that's their job.

I really agree with you op. And para sakin, it's not even that harsh. It's the reality.

Kasi kusa namang dumadating yan.

For me, the family of gambling addicts is the one who can say if the person is addicted to gambling. And they should be the ones to help them. People will only realize when they are already suffering from addiction. The role of the family and friends are really needed for a gambling addict to conquer its addiction.
I doubt that the family of these ill people will surely help them in the first place. Mostly, the family members are not the one who will actually help to mitigate the problem but rather they just make the scenario even worse. The only option could be your bestfriend or any other people who will give an attention to your problem.
It depends on how the family makes actions. Of course, not every family can help them. Like you say, sometimes the family can trigger them more. But there are families who know how to handle this kind of situation. Your family members are the ones who can first see the changes in you, and they are the ones who can give attention to it. Personally, I think that friends are just friends. They don't have any responsibility to you unlike your family, but you are still lucky if you have that friend who is willing to help you overcome your addiction. Just like what they say, your family is always there for you (although it does not apply to every family).

We have a different perspective and I understand yours. Actually, it depends on a person's life whom he thinks can help him cope up with his gambling addiction. And for me, it's my family even though I am not addicted to gambling.

1056  Economy / Economics / Re: MENTAL HEALTH ANG WELLBEING on: May 16, 2020, 01:39:04 PM
Even in lockdown, we can still be productive in our own ways. Use this time to make something useful and worthy, not just by watching movies, playing games, and doing nothing. If you are a student, you can still study at home. If you are an aspiring artist, go practice. Want to cook, go, and do it. Want to earn online, there's plenty of things to do. How we are going to spend our quarantine time is our own choice, but we need to use it wisely. We can't let this virus be a hindrance to what we want.

Maybe others can't seem to find peace with the lockdown since they are worried about how can they feed their families, but for us who are more fortunate since we don't have to worry about that kind of problem, let's be productive. If we think we are suffering because we're stuck inside our houses, remember that some people want to stay in their homes but they can't since they need to work to support their families.

Let's be thankful that the only thing we need to do is to stay at home. If we keep on thinking about boredom, we will really feel bored not being able to go outside. But if we set aside our negativity, we can still do a lot of meaningful things and activities even we are staying inside. It's just about the proper mindset and positive thinking even when we are facing a huge problem.

1058  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy after COVID-19 on: May 16, 2020, 05:12:11 AM
I don't think that the changes in the economy will apply to every country. These changes will probably and mostly apply to developed countries. Not every country and people are capable of doing digital transactions. Yes, it's now an option but I think most people would still rely on the traditional transaction using paper money.

What changes could be applied because of this pandemic is the safety barriers and precautions when two people are making a transaction to lessen physical contact. What I can see during this pandemic is that people are relying on e-commerce but people still use paper money to pay for what they bought.

After this COVID, I think people will be more conscious and careful about their environment and will be more hygienic. The economy won't collapse because that's what they are preventing, neither central banks. People don't easily adapt to sudden changes like every transaction would be digital. And when we say digital transactions, it's not only decentralized crypto. They more likely to accept digital payment using e-wallets or cards.

Every gambler knows sites and places like this but the main problem of these addicted gamblers is that they don’t agree that they are addicted and don’t listen to persons telling them to stop. The ones who realize that they have become addicted they call the above services and go there to seek help without any additional advice.
I agree with you. An addict would not admit that he's addicted to gambling. Because they often think that they are still normal gamblers. It's normal that they won't seek help because they are thinking that seeking professional help means they are not mentally healthy. For me, the family of gambling addicts is the one who can say if the person is addicted to gambling. And they should be the ones to help them. People will only realize when they are already suffering from addiction. The role of the family and friends are really needed for a gambling addict to conquer its addiction.

And for the OP, this is also great. Thanks for sharing this. This can also be useful if you know someone who is struggling with gambling addiction.
