642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pi Network is at 5 million users on: August 18, 2020, 09:04:13 AM
Most of my friends already have PI mining on their mobile phones and they even invite me to have it but, I always refuse. It's good to see that PI have already 5 million users and I guess the team behind it need to focus on listing it in the exchange because this thing might bring more users to them or else if they don't have a plan to list this in exchange it can cause loses of users because they might get bored or lose interest on doing mining without any gain. And for me, I would rather put my time on trading than mining coin who don't have plans to get listed in an exchange.
643  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin casinos to surge in German market? on: August 17, 2020, 04:50:46 PM
It's good for now but if the reason why gamblers would adopt bitcoin is to avoid government regulations, I think the government could also implement regulation with cryptocurrency.

According to the article provided
Quote
Gamblers are eyeing the use of Bitcoin to avoid government restrictions when the new law is implemented

If most gamblers would move to bitcoin, it will only take time for the government to also implement new laws on bitcoin in Germany. I think the regulation is to prevent gamblers from gambling in illegal sites. Instead of avoiding the government's intervention, they should also stop gambling in illegal gambling sites

644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: This beach resort is accepting Ethereum!!! on: August 17, 2020, 03:01:07 PM
Even though there is still a pandemic, we can now also travel and go to Korea. You just need to isolate yourself for days after landing in Korea before you can go out and enjoy it. Since there are no many COVID cases in that country, I think you can enjoy most tourist spots is and activities although they are still implementing some protocols.

But this is really good for them. It can help to attract tourists as well to recognize crypto as payment. Korea is also positive about crypto adoption which is good that businesses who accept crypto are growing. But with the situation in the Philippines, we still can't open most beaches due to the pandemic. Also, most beaches are in the province and I think there's still a lack of awareness about crypto in most places in the Philippines so it might take a few years before we can see some big businesses adopting crypto.
645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: VR online casino games take gambling to the new level 🚀 on: August 17, 2020, 01:42:11 PM
VR casino games are actually nice because of its advanced features. However, it may not be that practical since one of its disadvantages is the cost before you can experience VR casino. I mean, if you are just a normal gambler, instead of spending on the equipment, you can use that money to gamble. Or if you want to experience physical casinos, you can simply go to physical casinos since it's cheaper than buying expensive equipment.

It's really a nice idea but I think this is only limited to those who have a budget in spending expensive tools for gambling.
646  Other / Politics & Society / Re: social distancing ? covid on: August 17, 2020, 01:05:08 PM
It's okay to do the things you want and have fun amidst the pandemic especially if there's a low case of COVID in your country and also following the protocol. I mean, there's nothing wrong having fun as long as it's safe, but not with countries with a high number of cases because there's a higher chance of spreading the virus.

In my country, we can't do that kind of gathering but I think other countries were able to do different activities without social distancing and can even go outside without wearing a mask since there are low or no new cases.
647  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be carefull Newbies! Fake exchange promocodes scams on: August 17, 2020, 10:53:08 AM
I have seen a lot of similar cases with that kind of tactic here, and even if a lot of people are already giving awareness, there are still who fall for this scheme. Although some newbies may not be aware of this scheme, a few free satoshis are not worth it if they are asking you to deposit a certain amount of money first.

Good for the op that even if he tried to redeem the promo code, he is still cautious and did not end up falling for this kind of scam. Since scams are everywhere, it's really better for us, not only for newbies to always be careful to avoid being a victim of scammers.
648  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: [MEGATHREAD] Pilipinas Coronavirus/COVID-19 Thread on: August 17, 2020, 06:48:30 AM
nakita nyo na ba yung bagong ulat ng DOH 40k na gumaling sa covid-19? (here's the link to an article if you are interested https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1112441)

reading through the article I wish DOH could elaborate more about this new "40k" new recoveries instead of saying that 39K+ of the new recoveries was "time-based" recoveries.

if anyone has seen a more detailed report about I'd appreciate if you shared the source.

Quote
COVID-19 patients who are mild and asymptomatic will be counted as recoveries after they complete 14-day isolation periods from the time they start showing symptoms of the disease or their samples are collected for testing.

649  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How you can earn money from bitcointalk.org? on: August 16, 2020, 01:54:29 PM
The good thing about here in the forum is that you can do all those things together. You can both earn and at the same time, learn. But the thing is, we should not prioritize earning here since there are different ways to earn more income outside the forum. For me, the best thing that this forum can give us is updates, discoveries, and knowledge.

Some newbies thought that they can easily earn money here, but it's not like that since it takes a lot of effort and time learning in order to utilize that knowledge to earn a profit. In fact, there's more to discover here in the forum that can help us not only in the future but also earning more than what we can earn here from joining campaigns.

651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think the house can counter your strategy? on: August 16, 2020, 12:07:25 PM
Maybe they can, but they won't probably do that to their customers. I mean, if the casino has a lot of customers, they won't focus on you and try to counter your strategy (maybe if you bet a huge amount of money). But I also doubt that legit and trusted casino sites would do such things since it will lose the trust of their customers.

Also, even if you exposed your strategy, it's not even a hundred percent sure that it will work. The house edge has the advantage so I think there's no need for them to do that to their customers.

653  Economy / Economics / Re: COVID19 VACCINE AND ECONOMIC GROWTH? on: August 16, 2020, 09:03:38 AM
Other countries are only depending on the creation of the vaccine because they can't fight the pandemic anymore. Just like the Philippines, the government is obviously just waiting and depending on the vaccine because if you will look at the current situation, they can't flatten the curve. Rushing the vaccine can be dangerous but in order to see the effectiveness of this vaccine, they need trials and it depends on people whether they join the trial or not. Personally, I won't participate in the trials and I will just wait until it is proven safe for the majority. For now, the best thing to do while waiting is to be cautious and always wash our hands.
654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Covid-19 and Bitcoin on: August 16, 2020, 05:21:22 AM
It's not specifically because of the pandemic. But the quarantine may help since a lot of people are staying in their houses and mostly spending time online. So there is a chance of discovering bitcoin and crypto while browsing the internet.

As for bitcoin scams, they are already rampant even before the pandemic but scammers find this as an opportunity to scam more people because some are desperate for "easy money" due to the unstable income.
655  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will "De-Fi" replace traditional banking in the future? on: August 15, 2020, 03:16:26 PM
DeFi may be increasing its popularity nowadays but it's still way too far to reach or even replace traditional banking. We are seeing the hype with DeFi but the recognition is still limited mostly among crypto space. Although we are not sure whether this hype will remain for a long time, it will be hard to replace the traditional since the majority are still relying on the banks.

But honestly, DeFi does not really need to replace the traditional bank as long as DeFi is getting recognized and be able to do its purpose.
656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make old people understand Bitcoin? on: August 15, 2020, 11:49:55 AM
You need to know first if they are interested in bitcoin or not. Because it can be tough knowing that not all older people can cope up with gadgets. It might just waste your time trying to teach them when they are not even interested, same with younger people. But if they are really interested, that makes it easier to teach them since they are willing to learn. Then you can probably start with the basic explanation and try to avoid using a lot of technical terms, I guess? When you tell them some technical terms, explain it to them in a way that they can understand. For me, teaching older people is not impossible, it's just a matter of interest and approach.
657  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: CHRISTIAN ALBERT GAZA a.k.a "Xian Gaza" Introduce his own coin on: August 14, 2020, 03:29:00 PM

658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Germany Continues Shutting All Unlicensed Bitcoin ATMs on: August 14, 2020, 12:34:24 PM
Expect for the government to take action if it's illegal operating. If they were able to able to crack and confiscate multiple ATMs, it means that there's a lot of illegal bitcoin ATMs operating.

If they want to make business with bitcoin ATM, they should have at least know how to follow rules by the government. I mean, having a license to operate is a part of having a business. If they are one of the bitcoin ATM providers in their country, why can't they get a license first so they can operate without having problems with the authorities.
659  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you a man or ...? Buy something right now ! on: August 14, 2020, 10:45:02 AM
You don't have to tell it since for sure all of us here are still buying things that we need for day to day life. That's how we survive right? Even if not everyone here is buying things they want like luxurious things, we still all buy essential things. And I can say that is already contributing to the economy. We don't have to push other people to buy things they don't need especially if they are not financially capable but regardless of that, they can still contribute to the economy.
660  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Las Vegas Casinos are open - end of the Pandemic era. on: August 13, 2020, 04:48:30 PM

I read that thread, getting sued is normal as they can't control the minds of the people, and I think they have already expected that kind of possibilities and have prepared for it, and if they follow all those required to be implemented by the authorities, there's nothing to fear if they get sued.

They have to prove it in court and I don't think it's that easy to prove it since the virus is invincible and it has no print where and how you get it people can just speculate, even those who are very careful and do not go out caught this virus and they have no answer how did they got it, that is one of the defense of these casinos if people bring it in court.
Since the virus is cannot be seen by the naked eye, they can't use that as a defense. Yes, the customers will never know how they really got the virus especially if they are going to a lot of public places like casinos. But as part of the casino operator's duty, they need to ensure safety and implement protocols. They can sue them or report to the authorities if they saw that the facility is not implementing the protocol. A simple picture or video can already be proof if they lack proper distancing or something.
