861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Favourite coin so far on: June 27, 2020, 02:21:28 PM
Bitcoin and etherium are the first two coins that I know since I first started working here in cryptoworld. And eventually, they became my favorite coins because they give me high profit and help me a lot with my finances 😊
Bitcoin is the first ever cryptocurrency I had and actually it acquires a big portion on my portfolio because I know it will become worthy in the future. I don't have any worries about putting too much portion of bitcoin in my portfolio. So far, I have a lot of favorite coins but I always focus on the coins that will definitely bring to me a good profit just like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Binance coin. Right now, I can say that my new favorite coins are Zilliqa (Zil), Chromia (Chr), and Elrond (Rrd). But if I'm going to choose my favorite coins that I will hold for long term investment, I will definitely choose the Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Binance.
862  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chess on Sports/eSports betting on: June 27, 2020, 01:21:20 PM
I like playing chess, but watching it is quite boring. One match can take several hours and sometimes it can take up to 1 hour before a player makes a move.
I know some betting platform where you can bet on chess (but they do not accept cryptos).
I kinda agree that only a few people will enjoy watching a chess game since it takes a lot of time before a player decided to make a move. It's not that I don't find it entertaining, but in my place, there's a nearby park where some people are playing chess. But looking at their age range, older people tend to appreciate chess more than younger people. But since I think that younger people are more into online gambling compared to older people, they prefer more entertaining games and sports.

However, it's good to know that chess is starting to gain interest among players. Maybe in the future, we will be able to see a lot of sports betting platforms that will accept chess.

863  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: June 27, 2020, 09:48:28 AM

864  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UK rules will hit loot boxes games hard - as they’re turning kids into gamblers. on: June 26, 2020, 03:57:14 PM
I don't consider this as gambling because the players or the kids don't earn any money as a reward whenever they will spend money on that game. Because for me, gambling is risking something valuable in exchange for getting something valuable. But since they reward they will get will only be useful in that game, I don't think it's gambling. I mean a lot of games also offer rewards if you will spend money on that game.
You're right, it's not gambling - it's even worse. You spend cash to get fake currencies to receive in-game weapon skins or decals through a mechanism similar to gambling.. and can't even cash out. In other words, you lose any way you take it besides having some pixels on a game that will not be played anymore within 1-2 years. It's honestly horrible and so many children are spending too much money on it - think Fortnite.
I wonder how those kids get money to spend in a game? If it has the permission of their parents, I think it's fine since they allowed their kids but I don't think it's right for kids to get used to buying things for the sake of the game because it won't be a healthy habit. They might grow up thinking that it's always good to spend money on such things that can probably be one of the factors that they will learn gambling.

Just like what I have said before, parents should be responsible for what their kids are doing, especially in using gadgets. It's fine to spend on games if you are already capable of proving your own money for that, but since they are still a minor, they should avoid it.
865  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Las Vegas Casinos are open - end of the Pandemic era. on: June 26, 2020, 02:53:30 PM
I want to share this article:

https://www.reviewjournal.com/business/casinos-gaming/las-vegas-strip-to-come-back-with-differences-analysts-say-2009472/

Seems experts vary on their opinions as with regards to Las Vegas opening. And I'm not familiar that there are Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3 as far as business in Vegas. So casinos are tag as Phase 1 that's why they are the first to re-open. And maybe it will be under observation until the next Phase are implemented like strips and restaurants.
If they are planning to reopen casinos, they surely need a concrete plan on how to implement those protocols for the safety of workers and gamblers. I think casinos are part of those businesses who will reopen first because casinos are popular and it's one of the major businesses in Las Vegas.

I checked the link you gave, and there's a short interview regarding people's opinions about mandating facemask. I don't really get why some don't want to wear face masks when it's for everyone's safety. There's always a lot of people in Las Vegas and it makes it more dangerous, yet some of them don't want wearing a facemask.
866  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "NEW NORMAL" Betting on: June 26, 2020, 01:21:14 PM
Casinos are the most affected in this pandemic because social distance is an impediment to providing their services in full and are now limited. The Covid19 can be presented even following the strictest controls because a small error could open the door and infect anyone. We can only take advantage of bets on games that can be carried out with a lot of effort today.
I disagree with this 100%.

If you will say that casinos are the most affected in this pandemic then there is a problem with you or maybe you are just an addicted gambler and that is what you only see. For me the most affected here are:
1. Employees of different companies/establishments who doesn't have job anymore because of the pandemic.
2. Small and Medium Business because some of them are closed either temporarily or permanently because of bankrupt.

These casinos have money that they've kept for a long time so they have funds to use in times like this. Yes the business sector is the one who got affected the most but casinos are not the most affected ones here.

All industries are affected, its unfair to say that casinos are "most" affected, And I am not thinking about the casino itself, I am more concerned about its employees. They are the ones who are already affected by this pandemic. Casino owners can survived years without even earning a single cent, I bet they've secured generations of their family already.

Agree with the employees and small, medium business owners who are affected by these pandemic. They are the ones who are really need help, if there's a reason for the casino to slowly start opening again, its because its an industry with people working for it.

Everyone is badly affected by this ongoing pandemic, it's not only the casinos. And I definitely agree that those who are at the bottom are the most affected by this, from work to income, everything is unstable for workers while casino operators still have a lot of money in their pockets.

Now that some casinos are starting to operate again with some limitations, they can still earn income even if it's lesser than before. But those employees, they are risking their lives for the same (or even lesser) amount of salaries.

vaccine is the only solution to our problem.
Although it's a long wait but at least we have something to wait and although it's just announce in Thailand but for sure, other countries can benefit this.

no way . we can slowly find ways to continue living for now even without the vaccine yet . vaccine isnt the only way to solve this problem we have now but we can solve this if people will just obey to everything that they said to them if whats right for them .

its only the people are the ones that making situation longer to recover and even if there are vaccines , if people are not obeying rules there will still be cases that can be found . this is why im not excited to those so called vaccines that they said .
I also believe that vaccine is the only solution but it does not mean that we will just have to wait for the vaccine and do nothing. Even if we follow and implement strict protocols and rules, the virus will still be there and the threat won't disappear. For me, those protocols are just the prevention but not the solution because it's the vaccine.
867  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PAGCOR waiting for the approval to reopen land-based casinos. on: June 26, 2020, 12:43:09 PM
It might be soon, but for now the number of infected are still increasing here in the Philippines. I know Philippine government still working on that. Hoping for there best  response if they allow to reopen the gambling industry or they have to remain it close for the safety of there people.

Still increasing and the government can't stop it.

In the same case, we will never be able to stop the approval of PAGCOR since as far as I know it is already approved. All we can hope right now is for them to follow the new norm. It is the best choice for the people and the country itself since we will be able to regain slowly the dumping economy of the country and the people getting back to their jobs.

We are talking of over 100k jobs, so it's not possible that they will close PAGCOR and will just allow it to open when the vaccine is release or this problem is over. They can actually make some statistics, which I'm pretty sure if there's cases due to PAGCOR operation, they would not lead in number of cases.

What I'm saying is it's possible that virus can be transmitted in a casino, but other industries or businesses will be more prone to that.

It's almost the same as other businesses. They need to reopen to earn income, as well as their employees. The government also needs businesses to operate to save the economy. The only difference is, workers are risking their lives to make a living while gamblers are risking their lives to risk money.

Talking about resuming of operation, I saw this article saying that PAGCOR already allowed POGOs to resume their operation. However, those who haven't cleared their tax obligation was not granted approval to operate.  Only 11 POGOs secured their clearance to BIR and permitted of Authority to Resume Operation (ARO), while some were remain pending. It is also stated that there are 60 licensed POGO in the country yet the majority still have an issue with tax so they still can't resume their operation.

868  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FOX prepared to add virtual fans and crowd noise to NFL broadcasts on: June 25, 2020, 01:54:30 PM
It's not a bad idea since fans were all used with loud cheering and crowds during games. They can maximize the use of technology with these virtual fans. Also, it's understandable that fans will have a hard time adjusting to watching games without the crowd noise so it may be a good idea as an alternative. It would be better if those cheering will fit on what's happening in the game. I mean if it's a live game, it will be hard to adjust the noise. Fans can decide if it's good or not maybe after trying including the virtual crowd.

It's really one of the downsides of this pandemic that we really have to deal with and adjust almost on everything. I wonder how long should we live like this?
869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold Medalist Bought Bitcoin on: June 25, 2020, 09:08:10 AM
I wish a lot of people, not only celebrities are also willing to get educated about crypto just like the hashtag she used. It's really interesting to see influential people recognizing bitcoin and crypto because their accounts are good platforms in promoting it to the public, regardless if it's paid or not. But I also hope that the public won't just easily believe in what the celebrities are saying without researching it because scammers can also use this as an opportunity to deceive them.

So I checked her account a little bit, I hope that she already know other possibilities in crypto. Also, she has over 300k followers on twitter, probably some of it will get attracted in learning bitcoin. It's not that big of a contribution in the crypto community, but at least she was able to publicize her support towards bitcoin.
870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Venezuelan can now renew their Passport with Bitcoin as payment. on: June 25, 2020, 08:36:20 AM
One of the cases that we can actually see what bitcoin can really do in a community. Because of what happened in Venezuela and the ongoing hyperinflation, bitcoin becomes a good alternative for the citizens, and now the government is also trying to test the ability of bitcoin. Others might have not seen the importance of bitcoin before but during hyperinflation in their country, they have realized what bitcoin can do.

We have been hearing news about bitcoin acceptance in Venezuela, from individuals to businesses adopting crypto and bitcoin, no wonder why the government is also doing this. If this becomes successful, I guess this will also help other countries to recognize bitcoin and might as well try to adopt this innovation in the future.
871  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to improve my skills? on: June 24, 2020, 02:31:28 PM
For me, you will improve by constantly reading, not only here in bitcointalk but also in other platforms that will help you gain knowledge. After reading the rules, start by reading basics threads and gather information for you to learn, or you can also research things you don't understand.

But since they already gave you tips on what to read, aside from the technical part, also try observing how most members here approach and interact with each other. Posting requires quality, so you can share a lot of your opinions if you have enough knowledge so learning is very important. Accepting criticism from other members is not really obliged, but if you are willing to accept and change it, it will help you to improve a lot here in the forum.
872  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Las Vegas Casinos are open - end of the Pandemic era. on: June 24, 2020, 01:54:53 PM

Which is wrong, it's weird.. that woman should not be wearing mask, how can we see here face. lol.. (picture was taken from the article shared).

Maybe they are trying to protect their employees so the casino are 100% covid-19 free but we don't know about their customers or clients.
Even if gamblers want to see their faces, I think they should understand that wearing a mask is needed, it's to keep everyone safe, unless there's an exemption that those girls won't get infected by the virus. And also, they are not the only ones who will be at risk. Imagine if they had a contact with someone with COVID then made a contact with other customers, then it will spread within the casino.

I guess it's also a part of the "new normal" that gamblers should get used to. And if your purpose going there is to gamble, girls wearing face masks won't be a big deal because you know it's part of their protocol.
873  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "Poker Tournaments" are reopening little by little. on: June 24, 2020, 11:10:57 AM
It's nice that poker tournaments are starting to resume again but I don't think it will bring any development in the gambling industry since it's still the same as before. Just like any other gambling activity, going outside or in a public place to gamble is still risky to our health so there's no specific exclusion.

After months of temporary closure, we will really see casinos starting to reopen because they also need income. However, we are not sure how are they going to attract gamblers to visit casinos because there is still a threat unless they are willing to risk and go to casinos. But regardless if it's poker or any other games, it's always a risk going to casinos amidst the pandemic so if we're talking about safety, for me, it's online gambling. Even with safety protocols, there is no assurance that everyone will be safe from the virus.
874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ethereum (ETH) Price on Course to $300 on: June 24, 2020, 09:59:45 AM
We still don't know if Ethereum will really hit the 300$ and besides I agree with @Dr.Osh, it can't even touch or surpass the price of 250$ in the last couple of weeks but the current price of Ethereum right now is around 242$, and it nearly to hit the 250$. But of course, it's possible that Ethereum will hit the 300$. And probably, the Ethereum 2.0 will definitely bring hype on its price so we just need to wait until they launch it.
875  Economy / Economics / Re: What if this pandemic persists till the end of the year? on: June 24, 2020, 09:08:57 AM
There is really a possibility that this pandemic will still be here at the end of the year since it will probably take a year before the vaccine will be made. I think the global economy will face some struggles due to the pandemic. We can't easily go back to how the economy normally runs. Most businesses are trying to operate again but the pandemic is still limiting us with our activities.

I think the best thing we can do right now is to adjust to the changes and protocols to survive the pandemic as well as saving the economy. As I have seen in normal day to day operations of some businesses, some are working from home while others are taking turns with their new schedule when will they go to work, it's to keep social distancing even at work. However, it's affecting their salaries since they cannot work with the total number of days in a month compared before. That's why it feels like it is up to us whether to risk our lives to live, or not to risk to live. It's undeniably affecting all of us, from school, work, salaries, doing errands, and the whole economy. It's not easy for an economy to recover from this so I guess we will really see the changes in the performance of the economy and how it will affect us.
876  Economy / Economics / Re: The Covid19 Curve is Flattening on: June 23, 2020, 04:20:33 PM
In my country, we were not able to flatten the curve, in fact, it keeps on increasing that it reaches over 30,000 positive cases already. But for those countries who were able to flatten the curve, there's always a threat of having a second wave as long as there is no vaccine available. That is why governments should always be ready for the possibilities that might happen especially that most businesses were starting to reopen. It is also the reason why they are very careful with their decisions because a second wave can badly affect the economy.

Debts are increasing so it will be difficult for most countries to overcome another wave of infection. If during the first wave, thousands of people already lost their jobs, families can hardly feed themselves, lives at risk, then it will be worse during the second wave. So let's hope that things won't get worse since poor countries might not be able to handle such situations.
877  Local / Pamilihan / Re: [UPDATED]Watchlist for Active Filipino Posters/Campaigners on: June 23, 2020, 02:03:26 PM
I already made an update on the list and I added some users who I noticed being active in the local and in the forum.

878  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to spot a scam ? on: June 23, 2020, 10:07:43 AM
I don't really look for a scam gambling site, instead, I look for a legit site. If I still doubt a certain site, I won't explore and I will just go with the trusted one. I also don't explore a lot about new gambling sites since I prefer to stick with the one I know and the one who is popular with a good reputation. Looking for reviews is fine as long as you will gather enough reviews since sometimes some can be a paid review. This forum is also good to known other's recommendations and insight on a certain gambling site.

Personally, I also ask recommendations with my friends since I can trust them better than those online reviews. But as I have said, I stick with the one I have experienced playing. I don't immediately get bored with a particular site since I don't often gamble so it takes a while before I will try to look for other sites.
879  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Binance Donate 3.5million worth of medical supplies to Philippine Hospitals. on: June 23, 2020, 09:04:21 AM
That's great!

Binance did a great job to help our fellow Filipino frontliners.
880  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Overcoming Systematic Racism with Bitcoin on: June 23, 2020, 08:35:16 AM
Racism is a wide issue that it does not only include the financial system. It's been there for decades, and until now racism is still there. I agree with @avikz above that it starts by teaching the kids how to look at everyone equally with the same respect regardless of nationality and color you have.

It may be hard connecting racism and bitcoin since it's not one of the main factors to stop racism. But I think it can also make a small contribution. As mentioned in the article OP gave, there is a book called "Bitcoin and Black America" that tackles about the racist banking system and how bitcoin can help black Americans overcome this with the help of bitcoin. I have only heard about it, but not ready had the chance to read the book, but here's an article I found about the author talking on the current issue, as well as the issue about George Floyd. I think it will help us to understand how the author sees the potential of bitcoin in the black economy.
