Why did the exchange that caught the devs dump not split it back here to the money losers? Instead handing it to the quora foundation who are nothing to do with either thing?

I'm not sure what you mean. It was Qora coins that were involved in this issue. The SHARE coin community has nothing to do with that.

I think that Poloniex also froze bitcoins from Zip's wallet. Do you know what happen with this? Are the bitcoins going to Qora too?

Not as far as I know. You will have to ask Busoni.
1562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: June 13, 2014, 07:52:28 PM
No i dont think so. Im pretty sure that a password that you store in a text file on your desktop and copy and paste into your client is less secure than one that you memorize and type into your client.

There's two issues here.

1. Will a sufficiently long/complex password protect your NXT account. YES. It will take ages to crack strong passworded NXT ids.

2. Are you able to keep your password safe? Um, storing it in a text file doesn't seem safe to me. But, I agree, memorizing a "pin" (call it that last 4-6 digits of your password) and never writing them down or saving them in a file is a nice idea. Also, make sure you are running a fire wall and good mal ware software to prevent key loggers from getting to your PC.

Any idea if anyone is working on a wallet like Armory that lets you create/sign transactions on a warm storage device and then transmit them from a hot wallet?

Where? I want to buy cheap! Cheesy
NOT on MINTPALL they dont do scamming shit coins.

Hmm... Starting at the top of their coin list going down.

Guess I'll stop there.

Why do you care? If you don't like them, don't buy or trade them. Why am I feeding trolls?
1565  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: June 13, 2014, 04:00:09 PM
I plugged some numbers into that calculator. Problem is, it is very dependent on difficulty increase.

Assuming a purchase of 100 GHS at current pbmining and btc value would be $235.

$235 at 10% interest (if you can get it) compounded annually for 3 years is 344.06.

(3 years is the most full years the BTC calculator would give me)

Per the bitcoin calculator assuming a 10% difficulty increase the return in BTC is .1921 or $113.41. (a loss)

So, compared to investing the cash it's a loss. But, can you get 10% annual return on your money?

Will the value of bitcoin be the same in 3 years as it is today?

But, that calculator shows EVERY miner (you chose at the top of the page) is going to lose you money at a 13% difficulty increase with $0 electric cost and $0 pool fee. How can that be right? If that was the case, no one would be mining.

So, I'm not sure how accurate the calculator is. Who knows. I can only go by my actual earnings and those of others that say they are break even in about 3 months and everything after that is profit.

1566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NAUT] Nautiluscoin - First Coin w/Stabilization Fund - Digishield on: June 13, 2014, 03:35:32 PM
My vote goes towards more activity on the reddit page.  I'd like us all to get naut-i over there.

i was a .css master in a prior life, so i could spruce up the reddit page if needed.

I have not been active on Reddit...it seems that I need to be?
my observation is why not fork the code and make it easier to mine or increase the block reward by 4 or 5 times what it is right now.

I mined for an hour this morning with 180 MH and on a pool I was in found one measly block (and I found it)- it's not worth mining any longer - the difficulty is just way too high - there's no excitement any longer for people to mine the coin - just about all of us have moved onto other coins because this coin is a waste of mining resources.

It will most likely only be mineable a little while longer anyway Smiley

hardly - we're at block 23,101 out of 101,512
That's assuming we won't switch to POS before that. I could be wrong, but I read BK's post as POS might come much sooner than that. Especially since the mining process has been slowed down due to problems with Digishield.

I would like to have PoS implemented before all the coins are mined

Will the PoS be granting/minting new coins? Or will it only be giving out fees thus keeping a CAP on the total number of coins constant providing an inflationary currency? Or will it mint new coins to X amount of circulation and then only provide fee's for securing the network?

Respect for being honest utopianfuture! Thank you

Are you being honest if you apologize AFTER you are caught? Isn't being honest not doing this stuff from the beginning?

But I do give him kudos for his response to being caught of bowing out for the good of the coin and community.
1568  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: June 12, 2014, 08:24:14 PM
Haha, you really should remove butterfly labs from that. Also, ROI is definitely possible within 5 years.

Yes, it seems like ROI in the crypto world assumes everyone should be able to buy a coin for $2 and have it be worth $600 3 years later.

If you can earn 10% per year, that is a very high return. $100k will become $259k in 10 years.

I don't know how much that $2.5 (a number that has been mentioned by someone many times) will be worth in 5 years at PB mining. But, I expect it will be more than $4.03, which is 10% compounded annually for 5 years.

1. We exercise self-censorship.  We will voluntarily remove all the useless posts in the last 10 pages or so.  If you guys do it, I will surely follow suit. I'm making you a deal to make this thread look better. It'll be good for Qora.

I agree with this plan. But, I'm not sure why you can't go first?
1570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NAUT] Nautiluscoin - First Coin w/Stabilization Fund - Digishield on: June 12, 2014, 07:10:36 PM
Did you try what newra suggested above??
Not yet. I  PM'ed Newra a few questions regarding on what happens during a repair. I don't want to lose 90 Nautiluscoins and all my "evidence" that something might be wrong in the case that something is wrong. Right now I have a transaction log on my laptop wallet that differs from the blockchain explorers. I do not want to lose that transaction log. I just thought to check mintpal to see if they received an extra 90 NAUT but they had not.

Are you sure all your coins are on the same address? It is possible that you have 90 in a change address that your wallet knows about. A change address would be a different Address from you main address.. but if you wallet owns it then it will show in your wallet balance.

I think there is a menu item that shows all your addresses and the balance on each address.

But, this would explain the discrepancy because the block explorer would only show you coins in an "address" not in a "wallet".

What PilotofBTC said is exactly what I was thinking too. I was going to suggest that to you next.
This time goto debug console and type:

listaddressgroupings

That should list all the addresses in your wallet and their balances (including change addresses I believe). Add them up and see how much you've ...
I profusely thank everyone who helped me out, especially PilotfBTC, Kehtolo, and Newra. I did the listaddressgroupings and found the missing addresses with 90 NAUT. It is weird to me because I have only used one address for all my inputs and I checked the one other address that was visible to me and unused. I have no idea where the 4 other addresses came from, but I am glad to know I have them. I have used dogecoin extensively with many different receiving addresses for my workers in the past and for some reason always got the total wallet balance whenever I lookedup one of my many receiving addresses. I guess this coin is just a little different in that respect. I will be purchasing a few bitcoins worth more in the next couple days. Sorry for the false accusations and thank you for resolving my problems.

No worries, you should google "change address" and it will explain it.

Basically, when you send X amount of NAUT, the wallet picks the closest amount of "inputs" to make that amount of "output" (your spend). But, if those inputs exceed your output then you will get "change".

Sort of like when you give a cashier a $20 bill for an $8 purchase.

The wallet generates a NEW address for the change to be sent to. This is done for security (obscurity) so that it isn't possible to track every one of your transactions in the block chain.

This is also why you should backup your wallet after every spend. (Well, depends on how the wallet works. Some created extra address ahead of time and use those. Some generate them on the fly. But, backup your wallet at least once a week.)

One good news for Qora is that one major competitor (NEM) looks like its about to fail if what has been said about its leader is true.

Link?

Don't support a coin whose devs are the ones that closed Sharexcoin.
SCAM
Today saw the Bittrex exchange and people to buy a small amount of sharecoin. So not well-informed?Will continue to support a hoax?
We should email or twitter to suggest removing sharecoin bittrex exchange.

It's on coiniex too.

Sounds good. Getting 85% back is better than nothing. Send me any info I need to provide.
1575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] ShareXcoin.com - Sharing its revenue to the community on: June 12, 2014, 04:40:01 PM
Find who? I know the lady who ran sharexcoin, someone hired me to find her. I tracked the phone number they had listed to the site and found the person. I called the phone number listed for then and talked to someone, I played it off like I was interested in buying the website for 5k. She said she would have her call me back and never did.

Do you have a real name and address. If so, this should be turned over to the authorities in the persons country of residence.
1576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 12, 2014, 04:18:12 PM
My deposit issue has something to do with the client, I suppose. It shows 30 confirmations in my client, but there is no fund in my main Poloniex account. That's why I decided to email them in the first place. And they have immediately frozen the exchange. So you know I am not lying.

Is it possible you are on a Fork? You should compare the blocks in your wallet with the blocks on the block explorer and see if they match.

1. Do you want QoraKnight to fuck off and leave Qora thread forever?
2. Do you want gorillajam to fuck off and leave Qora thread forever?

I'm not sure why those are the only two options?

Shouldn't there be a third option:

3. I don't want a decentralized currency system dictated by any one person.

By the way, my opinion is that Trading Qora on NXT really isn't that much different from trading it on an Exchange.

I really hope it cost a 1000 or so (or maybe more) Qora fee to create a vote item so we don't have hundreds of chest banging type polls put up.
1578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: June 12, 2014, 03:55:57 PM
But we haven't figured out a way to prove loss of funds.
Yup...  no way of knowing if someone sold their QORA in the meantime.
I still propose everyone that has a Qora balance on ShareXCoin make a claim to Busoni. He can open the claim period for 10 days. If after that time the claims are = or < the amount he has frozen, he can disburse the coins. Otherwise, they go to the community fund for bounties/givaways. I can't think of any fairer way to do it.

@PilotofBTC I am sorry for your loss but there is no way that the claims are = or < the amount busoni has frozen.
"only" about 23M frozen.

you claim you lost about 20M.
I know TwinWinNerD lost a lot.
I lost a big amount also.
and I am sure there are a lot more people.

community fund for bounties/giveaways is really the best and only fair solution for the frozen funds.

No, I didn't lose any Qora to sharex. I was suggesting a possible solution. However, if the transfer from ShareX was only a small portion of the coins, how do we know it wasn't just a user the moved Qora from ShareX to Polo?
1579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: June 12, 2014, 03:46:47 PM
I received no interest, feedback or PM from people involved with NXT about those 2 paintings or anything
else. I have posted on this thread at least 3 times by now and not received even 1 reply. Complete silence.

What is the copyright of the NXT logo? Integrating that into your picture depending on the license of the logo may require a certain license for your art work.

I'm not saying that's the case, but you are including the NXT logo in your pics. Do you own the copyright of the NXT logo?
