1701  Other / Meta / Re: Does the forum system skip out on updating some user activities? on: March 12, 2023, 02:28:02 PM
Activity is updated every hour, not only on Wednesdays.
I don't think that's the case with the every hour thing. Except you meant it as on rotational basis for different members. From my experience when I started, my activity count changed for every single post made until it got to 28 posts and 28 activities and then it stuck there. It remained at 28 until two weeks later to update. It has remained that way till date. My activities don't change until every two weeks. It's usually on a Wednesday. I don't know if it's same for everyone.
1702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Shiba Inu still worth it? on: March 11, 2023, 04:29:19 PM
I'm not going to say that Shiba Inu is just an ordinary meme coin but can take as well to think that it was worth enough to invest with.
But of course, Shib isn't a mere meme token. It's way beyond that, by my assessment of it. I believe there must be something the numerous exchanges see in it to warrant them rushing to list it that ordinary observers may not see. At a point Binance offered staking on it with other coins. I ain't sure that feature is still there any more as I didn't get to find it again (I just checked it now). Shiba Inu isn't a bad investment for me. However, like every other crypto investment, the caveat emptor of investing only what one won't miss should still apply.
1703  Other / Meta / Re: How can I increase my merit? on: March 11, 2023, 01:49:41 PM

Hi I'm a newbie here and would love to ask for advices on how to have a good background here?
I don't know why you would still refer to yourself as a newbie, despite being registered here in May 2019. That's almost four years, isn't it? You got in here when the merit issue was a hot take and I can't find any reason you didn't have this issue sorted out. Either by deliberate omission or not, I want to hope you didn't have anything that will later expose your account as having done any wrong in the past. Going forward, I guess you should lock this thread to avoid spamming. Your question has been answered. Just read up on all the links supplied you.
1704  Other / Meta / Re: Merit questions on: March 11, 2023, 11:17:06 AM
You have been here since 2017 but you do not know about how merit and smerit work? That is funny.
May be, it's not that funny. Life happens. We can go with the flow that OP is the original owner of that account but only went on a hiatus here so as to concentrate on other stuff. Merit system then happened in their absence and took them by storm. Again, that someone has been here longer than you're doesn't mean they know much about the forum than you're. I've come across veteran members in rank who post like rookies. BTW, I know OP has got the response to their question. So, it's pointless adding any more suggestions to them.
1705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let them make the choice of bitcoin on: March 11, 2023, 10:02:10 AM
The floor is open for everyone to discuss about their thought and feelings towards this.
Note; I don't intend to discourage anyone from spreading the max adoption of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies at larg.
Your narration is something most of users who got in here before the 2017 Bitcoin boom would've encountered by now. It's not a bad idea to persuade anyone to invest in Bitcoin or any alt at all. However, it's very imperative you let them know what they're getting into before hand. People like the good side of things and not the bad side. Bitcoin has its loss angle as well as its profit angle too. Let people in on it so they know that they can also lose all the invested cash as much they can also make profit from it.

I've someone I talked to a few years ago about Bitcoin investment. After a while dude decided to invest because he was passing through financial meltdown. At the time he did and sent me the cash for it, I wanted to put it in altcoin (launchpad token) but decided against it because of high risk. No one knows what can happen when it comes to alts. The whole thing can go down the drain within a day. However, if I had invested it in that launchpad token I would've doubled the capital within a few weeks of investing in it. Instead, I invested it in Bitcoin, knowing that whatever happens I can still get out the capital. I'm still hodling the fund and if the dude wants his capital while the market is dipping from when I invested it, all I've to do is pay him off his invested capital and keep the Bitcoin, then wait for bull season to set in. If the person in your story had done that, the incident wouldn't have landed him in police net.
1706  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is the last chance to exchange stablecoins for Bitcoin on: March 11, 2023, 09:11:59 AM
Bitcoin market is down now so now is the right time to convert stubble coins to bitcoins.  Bitcoin price is now at $20,404 and Bitcoin price is likely to move lower.
I find this part of your comment contradictory. Perhaps you didn't get in the right grammatic usage. You called for stablecoins to be exchanged for Bitcoin but on the other hand you're saying "Bitcoin price is likely to move lower." I don't know why that ambivalence is.

However don't think now is a last chance to get in. I know you're saying it in the light that now affords us a better lower entry point but we can't be sure it's. Price can still go down but what is certain is that price will still soar more than what it's now. Anyone interested in Bitcoin should buy whenever they can and not think much of their entry levels, especially if they're going to hodl.
1707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trust in cryptocurrency? on: March 11, 2023, 07:11:34 AM
Recently, I've been wondering, and based on the people I live with, I'd say that only 20% of them know what cryptocurrency is.
I'm sure it will come as a shock to you too if you get to find out that an appreciable number of people globally don't also know how fiat works apart from it's use as a means of exchange for financial transactions. You see, the point isn't even to know how something works before we can use it. Just trust the process.

Quote
But do you think it will be time when cryptocurrency will come into our lives and be normal for all people? Will people be able to trust crypto?
I believe for those of us here, cryptocurrency is already in our lives. I'm here because I trust in cryptos and what it can achieve. With time this is likely going to be the largest financial market globally, well above the Forex market of over $6 trillion daily cap.
1708  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Starting now. on: March 09, 2023, 07:56:36 PM
If you want to trade, you don't need a crypto wallet to store your coins because you still need them to sell and buy. But when you want to save the profits you earn from trading, you can use one or several wallets such as Trust wallet, Blue wallet, or hardware wallets such as Ledger, Trezor or others. But many people will advise you to use hardware wallets to store your coins. Trading and investing or depositing coins are different and it is not recommended to store your coins on an exchange.
You can sell on crypto wallets using DApp. Trust Wallet also has that feature and a lot of traders and hodlers have been utilizing that feature. You can sell any crypto into a stable coin and then rebuy whenever you feel like. The only nag there is the limited tokens one can have assess to because of difference in chains. With DApp you don't have to pass through the hassles of KYC which centralized exchanges demand.
1709  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Too late to start? on: March 09, 2023, 02:32:11 PM
So, as the title would suggest, is it too late to start investing on crypto?
There's a saying in my local parlance. I will translate it to the closest so as not to make it lose it's meaning – When a man wakes from his slumbers, that's his morning. You may have delayed getting into it but that doesn't mean it's too late for you. This is that proverbial morning for you. You can still achieve even more than those who started ahead of you if you set your mind and work towards it.
1710  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it legal for our kids to learn trade? on: March 09, 2023, 01:10:15 PM
Given the age in question, I guess the kid will still be in high school. To that effect, it's not a great idea to get them hooked on trading. I think it's distraction to expose people of that age (10-15 years) to financial earnings, especially one that's online. I like to keep trading away from anyone in high school or below it because of the emotions it brings. It's okay if they're in tertiary institution, regardless of the age. Tertiary institutions are known for exposing people to the realities of life far ahead of other cadres.

1712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 🐞 Dogecoin Will hit $1? on: March 07, 2023, 09:52:44 PM
Three years ago or so there was an online challenge to get Dogecoin to $1. That caught the attention of many crypto lovers and fans of Doge. Most people never gave it a chance as a meme token it's but it put up a great performance and did $0.7+ as its ATH. I believe it will fire up again once Elon Musk adopts it for payment on his bird (Twitter) app. Demand will rise, price will soar and hodlers will be all smiles when that happens. Doing $1 won't be much hurdle to cross.
1713  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Experience on Bitcoin on: March 07, 2023, 09:22:24 PM
During the last two bull runs that happened, I was blaming myself for why I didn't find a way to buy bitcoin when its value was still low in the market.
We tend to regret stuff like that on the hindsight, after seeing what we've missed. We feel satisfied opting out while the action is on until we look back and realize it was an opportunity that shouldn't have been missed. Now that we can take a guess at what the future portends, having learnt from history that every bull year has done better than the one before it, I want to believe you're positioning already for the next bull run that will likely happen in 2024/25? Don't miss this one for anything.
1714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: XRP - yes or no? on: March 07, 2023, 08:38:34 PM
With a market cap of $21m already, how high can this really go if all goes well?
I thought I was the only one into crypto who isn't keen on having XRP. Going by the level of publicity and collaborations XRP had done in the past, it should've surpassed its price by now. Though I've to admit it had a good run first quarters of 2018 when it hit an ATH of $3+. I thought it would've continued with that show but it slumped to default setting. I guess its huge supply that runs into billion (about 100b) is a stumbling block to its price increase. It's basic economics that price tends to correspond with the forces of demand and supply. I see this play out in this industry more often than not.

Quote
Are you for or against XRP?
To be frank, I'm still nonchalant towards that coin.
1715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are investors so sceptical about Altcoins? on: March 07, 2023, 07:07:21 PM
Alternative coins are not dependable like bitcoin that's why many investors are very skeptical about putting in their money and in addition to proliferation of altcoins that has been circulated all over the exchanges platforms and this makes it difficult for investors to pinpoint which coin is dependable and reliable. And the high volatility of most of these altcoins is some that's worrisome
Altcoins are high risk and high reward. Those who invest in them don't stay long on them and would be satisfied to run with whatever profit they get out of it. Conservative investors don't like that. They want investments they can put their cash on and feel relaxed. The reason being that an altcoin that's in massive profit today can lose steam within that same day and all the profit made gone with the wind.

On my part, I like what gives me the excitement when it comes to investment. I also have a substantial amount in altcoin spread out than I've in Bitcoin.
1716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: In the best interest of investors, Bounties shouldn't be paid in Tokens on: March 07, 2023, 06:09:20 PM
OP, your perspective has been canvassed in the past and it raised divergent views with some bounty hunters surprisely defending the position of projects to pay with their own tokens. My take on this is that most of these projects coming to the industry aren't financially buoyant and as such would depend on their own tokens to pay hunters. The sad thing about this is that there are some projects that also come to the industry with the sole intention of scamming hunters. These ones have no intention of paying at all. In the true sense of it these projects don't have any token to distribute. They run bounties with the aim of trapping investors and then disappear once the bounty is over. So, they scam both hunters and investors.

For me, I believe it will be better to make it a rule that the least that should be accepted for bounty reward should be tokens already listed and traded on the market if these new projects can't pay with stable coins.
1717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bounty really pay? on: March 07, 2023, 04:17:16 PM
This makes me to wonder if bounties really pay.
Not any more. In the past, bounties used to be the money spinner but that era seems to have gone now. Bounties are known now as cheats, both for investors and bounty hunters. It's that bad this day that people are getting advised to steer clear of them. Even here in this forum, activities of most companies that run bounties haven't been any better. Check the bounty section and you will find complaints regarding how they're managed and the inability of most of the projects to fulfil their promises of payment to hunters.
1718  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Villagers welcome bitcoin ideas. on: March 07, 2023, 02:16:31 PM
...he has heard of bitcoin changing lives and finances but is like lately the project wasn't doing great he guess. I say YES you're right
Well, to the best of my knowledge I think Bitcoin is doing fine at the moment. It may have dipped from its ATH of $68k+ to $22k+ now but it's still in a nice place of profit for those who started hodling in 2020.

Quote
I will pay you and I said that's fine sir.
Nice one for the chief. I takes a man of value to recognize and appreciate the value in others. For offering to pay you for your services shows he knows the value of education.

Quote
Chief actually show humility by fulfilling his promised of giving us $400 but we gladly turn it down because that's our community people, our home and our youths.
You did well by refusing the cash. That gesture alone has sold you beyond words and into a place of reputation among those men. You proved to them that money isn't everything. I hope the crowd that gathered there will take the teaching seriously and advance from there. If you're bringing any of them to this forum, please teach them how not to tie their wallets to one another so they don't get accused of being alts or from an account farm in the future.

I wish I had more merits to give...
1719  Other / Meta / Re: I'm New and Have a Question on: March 07, 2023, 01:04:16 PM
In my opinion the topic you have created here is the best place. You can get all kinds of help from legends here.
Leaving it here in Meta isn't appropriate. Basically, Meta is the board for discussing stuff directly related to this forum, its rules and regulations and the way it's run. Meta is a kind of "I need to know" section of this forum. To that effect, it's obvious OP's topic shouldn't belong here. User Blackboss_ has rightly pointed them to the board.
1720  Economy / Economics / Re: How to spend money determines whether you can avoid unnecessary problems on: March 07, 2023, 08:49:33 AM
a lot of peole complain that their income is not enough to cover their daily expenses so they can't save much money while...they spend seven bucks on a cup of coffee almost every morning, throw a hundred dollars on some gym membership cards but never show up training, have dinner with some random girl in an expensive restaurant, buy drinks in bars and waste hundreds of dollars...
Those who behave in such manner shouldn't be taken any seriously when they complain of financial lack. It's stupidity in itself to fret away one's meagre resources just to sound big and relevant.

Quote
I can not provide any statisitics but I am sure that many people have fallen in the trap and can not get out.  I hope you are not one of them.
So true. I once walked into a restaurant a few years ago to have lunch and a dude there ordered extra pieces of meat for his meal but didn't eat any. He ate the normal meal without picking the extra. Dude paid and left. I was really spooked (so to say) on the day. I saw it as an unnecessary childish behaviour. Till date I see such pattern and people seeking validation through it.
