Why is it immoral?

Unlimited immigration might be immoral. But that has happened ever since the 15th century. Native Americans constitute only a small fraction of the population in all the countries within the North American and the South American continents as a result of this. Same with Australia also.

I don't think it's immoral, but it's not a good idea.
17582  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox withdrawal to Japanese account on: January 06, 2014, 01:29:29 PM
Is anyone here provide firsthand confirmation re: ability to withdraw fiat from Mt. Gox into a local (Japanese) bank account? What is the experience/service like?

*I've seen it posted on the board that withdrawals to Japanese accounts are seamless, but I'm skeptical ...

I've never heard the word 'seamless' used with Gox, but maybe Japanese accounts are different. Maybe ask in the local boards.
17583  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BAD NEWS: Bitpay has been hacked? on: January 06, 2014, 01:27:57 PM
I'm seeing some posts in Twitter about BitPay being hacked. Over $80,000,000 worth of bitcoin gone. Can anyone confirm this?

If this is true that's terrible when the new years was starting off so well. Shit like this will discredit bitcoin more than countries banning it.

edit: link from reddit-- http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1uexyh/bitpay_hacked_early_reportsstay_tuned_anyone_with/

So no sources other than Twitter and Reditt?

And I need glasses as I thought the title said Bitcoin has been hacked  Cool.

Again some dumbass jumping to the wrong conclusion. A load of rubbish imo

This is why I put a question mark in the title and asked if anyone here could confirm. Not trying to troll or spread FUD. I'm glad this is turing out to be false

LEAVE THE CAPS LOCK OFF AS WELL

Can a mod amend the title or delete the thread?

Ammend it to what? It has been amended to a false alarm.

They state clearly that they have offered Kanye a bounty for his approval? Damn these premines to hell. However if the fish takes the bait I could see lots of money coming into cryptos.

This is what I love about these celebrity coins. They will bring in many new enthusiasts, more money and our coins will go up up up! Doge meme is something that morons and idiots are into.

Fixed that for you  Cheesy
17585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Taiwan’s Government Says No To Bitcoin ATMs on: January 06, 2014, 01:24:46 PM
Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) will not allow the installation of Bitcoin ATMs in the country because it believes Bitcoins are not a currency and should therefore not be accepted by individuals or banks as payment, said FSC chairman Tseng Ming-chung. Tseng Ming-chung’s statement was reported yesterday by the Central News Agency (link via Google Translate), Taiwan’s state-run news service.

Bastards. What reasoning do they have for believing it's not a currency?

17589  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paypal discussion... on: January 06, 2014, 01:03:38 PM
There is a new paypal tv ad campaign in the uk at the minute.  They are advertising the benefits of paypal which they dress up a little like bitcoin, obviously without mentioning bitcoin.  They neglect to advertise the robbing fees they charge though.  If bitcoin gets too big to ignore then they'll probably have no choice but to accept bitcoin if they want to keep their customers.

I agree. If people had any sense Bitcoin should destroy PP.

17590  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOW to avoid the FALSE "your IP posted too soon" error on: January 06, 2014, 12:57:21 PM
Once you get rid of your newbie status it drops to like 60 seconds, or something really short like that.
Or you could just change your IP after every post..

You could always use tor. It will change your ip in less that 10 sconds.
But there are problems with tor since lots of the those ips are banned in this forum because of people abusing it.

Mine is less than 30 seconds now. It decreases with more activity.

And TOR is probably worse and more annoying since you have to re-log in every-time you get a banned connection.
17591  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paypal discussion... on: January 06, 2014, 12:52:26 PM
Is there already a discussion somewhere on these forums about the likelihood that Paypal might begin accepting bitcoin, and what the effects on bitcoin might be were this to happen?

TIA...

There's a few in Bitcoin discussion, but I guess you can't post there yet.
17592  Other / Meta / Re: Unreasonable Account Banning, Help Please. on: January 06, 2014, 12:50:55 PM
What signature deal was you participating in and do you have a link to your banned account or posts, or are they gone from the system now?

So was the account banned for spamming? I'm starting to think these paid signatures are not the best idea they are basically promoting people to spam.

I think they're fine as long as the rules on posting/spam are enforced better and anybody found to be spamming is given a warning and then either banned or refused payment if they continue. I don't think people would even dare spam or post crap if they're not going to get paid out a cent/satoshi.

17593  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MtGox withdrawal hell? Anybody getting fiat out? on: January 06, 2014, 12:43:44 PM

I placed three withdrawals from MtGox in mid to late November and still haven't received a wire transfer into my bank account. I am aware that there is a backlog due to banking issues and the holiday from Dec 24 through Jan 6, but can anybody tell me that they actually have received a wire transfer withdrawal from Gox? How long did it take? Was there anything you were able to do to speed up the process?

I may just cancel the withdrawal, buy coins, and transfer them the fuck out, but would like to know if there is a glimmer of hope that I might actually receive my funds.

Any information appreciated. I did see the thread about this but cannot post there.

Thanks

This is standard practice with Gox. Avoid at all costs. No idea how they're still in business.

I'm a cross dresser so this is great news.

I'm not really, but I'm looking forward to Gyft being rolled out in the UK.
17595  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how does trust work? on: January 06, 2014, 12:41:29 PM
Well it's almost exactly like eBay feedback used to be, very much abused.

It's far easier to abuse this one. You don't even need to actually do a trade with anybody and people can leave feedback.
17596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ICOIN] Vote for best logo, get reward too! on: January 06, 2014, 12:39:55 PM
We are closing off the logo competition now.

As we want to establish complete trust with the community we found that there was a bit of campaigning and also suspicious account voting going for some logos.

Haha, these kind of votes are always going to be manipulated.
17597  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ICOIN] Help me get votes for iCoins logo! I will donate for every vote made. on: January 06, 2014, 12:36:45 PM

That is already one of the finalists haha. Told them they're gonna get sued.

17598  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: This is exactly why I believe in bitcoins ! VISA & Banks are thiefs ! on: January 06, 2014, 12:35:34 PM
I just hope the governments doesn't make bitcoin illegal.  Undecided

It's just one the best things since internet porn.

They really can't make it illegal.

They can put in regulations, but without banning the internet I don't see how they'll stop people from using it.
17599  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Told you so, OverStock.com pushed price of Bitcoin over $1000 on: January 06, 2014, 12:32:12 PM
Told you so, OverStock.com accepting Bitcoin pushed price of Bitcoin over $1000

now you have Zynga accpeting Bitcoin.
http://www.businessweek.com/news/2014-01-05/bitcoin-tops-1-000-again-on-adoption-by-zynga-amid-wider-usage

Very soon, Facebook, Google Pay Per click, ect...

It was Zynga not Overstock that pushed it over $1000, and it's the fickle people that push the price up.
