I was about to jump off a roof when my physics professor shouted through the megaphone below, "Stop, you have so much potential!"

Isn't that a play on words.

I think you will find this is how a lot of jokes actually work haha.
16902  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why didn't Ross Ulbricht use a brain wallet? on: January 18, 2014, 03:03:16 PM
If you read the report about how he was caught you'll find that the reason he was caught was because of bad luck more than anything else, they actually found fake ID's he'd purchased through random searches, the problem is the media are going to report this as if it was a deliberate and cunning move on their part rather than admit they just got lucky when taking down Silkroad.

That's not actually true. He was caught using good old fashion detective work and he fucked up in the beginning when he was setting it up by posting on forums he'd signed up with under his personal g-mail account and using the same usernames etc.
16903  Other / Off-topic / Re: A good film recommended on: January 18, 2014, 02:29:26 PM
Bad guys stole some kind of rare bird to make money. A very smart lawyer protected bad guy to avoid policeman in the court. Bad guys didn't pay full money the lawyer, the lawyer made them nice expensive car to fill the rest money. In the large and no man land can the lawyer drove the nice expensive car out of the no man land?....NO ! Bad guys wanted to get car back, hired one to kill the lawyer....

Still none the wiser but intrigued by this film at least haha.

16905  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinye Coin the future alt trade coin? on: January 18, 2014, 02:19:40 PM
This coin is dead.

If it hadn't been premined by the dev and insta-sold on the 'first day' then maybe it would have had a chance. I have some in my wallet, but I'm just gonna forget about it and tell my friends that I posses it.

Love the attention the coin is getting the crypto community too! I'm a huge KW fan personally and I thought the whole thing was funny

Coinye was the moment that got one of naysaying friends into Bitcoin. At least it was good for something Cheesy

Hmm this sounds familiar... Wink

Yeah, but sometimes these newbs come on here and end up spreading their FUD and misinformation. Seen it happen too many times  Roll Eyes Wink.

And isn't Coinye dead now, or is it going to be resurrected like Yeezus?

Time will tell I suppose, but my money is on Coinye being dead. No exchange will touch it.

A coin doesn't need exchanges to survive, but it helps.

It needs an exchange for traction, without that it is nothing.

It needs people using it to gain traction. When did Bitcoin gain its first exchange? Exchanges will come naturally if the coin is used enough, but I guess Coinye is a new case as it's probably the first to be barred by threat of law haha. I think people are desperately trying to re-brand it, but I'd just leave it, but then again I guess I don't have millions or worthless Coinye's floating around haha.

Thanks for the input all..

Im mining Noble atm. I belive they have a good ethos and devs/admins. May not bring much new to the table but honesty and transparency are needed imho more than ever.

Agree with comments on let the market and users decide. It all needs time to settle and find a level.

Will we end in loops of speculation? forever (forgive for the comment) taking advantage of newbies hoping to be millionaires?

Cheers all..

As long as there’s fools then there will be fools that take part. The only way to stop them to not even bother mining them, which will probably happen soon since there's so many being released.

If Jackson Pollock's No. 5, 1948 is worth $140 Million:

Hi,

I design stuff. Not only graphics - I have a healthy can-do attitude and like challenging projects (as long as they're interesting).

Tell me about your project. Don't hesitate to get in touch.

Here's my latest project (a collaboration with a local design studio):

Then I reckon this is worth at least $1 Million.

Venture Capitalist Chris Dixon Believes Bitcoin Will Hit $100,000
Bitcoin was on a wild roller-coaster ride for much of 2013.

The digital currency has been trading in the triple digit territory for weeks, but there is no shortage of optimists who believe it will soon go north of $1,000 – and then some.

http://www.coindesk.com/venture-capitalist-chris-dixon-bitcoin-will-hit-100000/

I don't know why predictions on the future price like this hold any weight or value. Regardless of it coming from a venture capitalist it's still just pure speculation. Bitcoin could become worth a million; it could also become worth little-to-nothing.

Yeah, there was an article the other month which said that it could be worth a million, it could be worth a cent. While I agree with the principle, I can't see it ever be worth anything near as little as a cent.

Too much money has gone into it, and it will still serve a purpose, I can't see it going any less than $50. I mean who would sell for that little?

Unless there's a flaw exposed or becomes apparent, or a new coin comes out which is infinitely better.

Ok this game is so scam i had 12 and then 14 looses same day in a row ! If You flip the coin you will have more chance to win than playing this shitty game. If i have no luck then I should die a long time ago on sidewalk crushed by the plane falling from the sky... or driving a car on highway and smashed by the train that have derailed and moved to the highway.

Did you change the bet each roll or stick with one?

And this isn't the thread for this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=208986.2980

They already do accept bitcoin.

Is this legit? Why would they not add a proper little Bitcoin button instead?

I'm thought somebody said the proxy removes exif data? I guess people can remove that themselves though before posting, or am I missing something here?

16915  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New alt coins good or bad? on: January 18, 2014, 12:18:31 PM
Let the market decide.
Let the users decide.

Some of alts will die, others will be fine for years.

Scrypt coins with reasonably low diff will be mined by GPU owners when ASIC scrypt hardware will overtake Litecoin. First gen sha-256 ASICs will be used to mine low diff sha-256 altcoins.

I hope obvious premined & instamined scamcoins will die, those which are fair will last.

I wish these people would take heed of your first two points.
16916  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin's confirmation time problem in retail stores? on: January 18, 2014, 12:17:23 PM
I'm pretty new to all this crypto currency stuff, but I'm wondering one thing. It takes a while before a bitcoin transaction is confirmed. Won't this be *the* problem for becoming used in retail stores for example?

I can't imagin waiting several minutes before my payment for my groceries are confirmed. Any thoughts on this?

Have you actually spent or transferred any Bitcoin? I usually find this question or argument coming from people who haven't. Once they've been sent they're as good as received. Retail shops will use a payment processor that will insure against any problems like this anyway so it's not a problem either way.
Yes I transferred some coins. They appear pretty quickly in my wallet, but it takes a while before they get confirmed and I can use them.

But from what I understand from the other answers is that you can be pretty sure an unconfirmed transaction will get confirmed.

Has anyone ever ran into a transaction which did not get confirmed?

Nope, but it's very rare that will happen. I don't think it will be a problem for retail businesses at all. It's safer than accepting a cheque or credit card, and there's a lot of fake money floating around that Bitcoin solves. I think even with tiny flaws BTC is better than fiat and credit cards etc.

I don't really understand the process of PD.. Would someone kindly explain it to me?

Thank you

What are you confused about? How to use the faucet or placing bets?
16918  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Ukash reversible? on: January 18, 2014, 12:06:40 PM
I cant seem to find a definitive answer to this.

It's the safest for selling bitcoin isnt it?

The safest way would be cash in hand.

I cannot answer your question as I've never used it, but maybe you should contact UKash directly to be sure: https://www.ukash.com/en-GB/about-ukash/
16919  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NEW Marketplace: Evolution. on: January 18, 2014, 12:01:52 PM
There is a new marketplace that looks really promising, it is called Evolution and it's made by the reputable owner of TCF, Worth a look.
http://k5zq47j6wd3wdvjq.onion/

What's TCF? Most of these markets are hard to trust because of their nature, and most of the new ones that pop up tend to be scams. What items does this market deal in or prohibit?

So this is the true meaning of Trolling!

Trolling and hodling are two completely different things.
