16941  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinye Coin the future alt trade coin? on: January 18, 2014, 10:47:03 AM
This coin is dead.

If it hadn't been premined by the dev and insta-sold on the 'first day' then maybe it would have had a chance. I have some in my wallet, but I'm just gonna forget about it and tell my friends that I posses it.

Love the attention the coin is getting the crypto community too! I'm a huge KW fan personally and I thought the whole thing was funny

Coinye was the moment that got one of naysaying friends into Bitcoin. At least it was good for something Cheesy

Hmm this sounds familiar... Wink

Yeah, but sometimes these newbs come on here and end up spreading their FUD and misinformation. Seen it happen too many times  Roll Eyes Wink.

And isn't Coinye dead now, or is it going to be resurrected like Yeezus?
16942  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New alt coins good or bad? on: January 18, 2014, 10:43:46 AM
Hi all my first post here. Smiley

What opinions do you have on the amount of new coins appearing?

Is it a good thing?

More competition and dev staff having to keep 'on the ball' or a bad thing in that it makes the whole alt coin arena seem somewhat a joke and rife with scams? (I belive it may well kill the alt coin market)

Comments??

Cheers all.. Smiley

It's a double-edged sword. Personally I think most of these crapcoins are exactly that, but you can make a little cash from them if you get in early and mine them, then trade them for BTC etc. But there's also a lot of naive newbs that are left holding the coins thinking they’re gonna become rich off them in the future, but when the miners and users move on to another coin, the value drops and they're left holding a load of worthless crap.
16943  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A friend's idea to promote on: January 18, 2014, 10:40:04 AM
Oh, and use a trusted escrow if you do whom will send the money to me and the charity upon completion of the deal  Cheesy.
If we can gather enough donations together, I'll gladly arrange for an escrow. However, I don't anticipate I'll be putting in a great deal of effort if we can't scrape up what you need here.

LOL are you actually gonna do this? I'd donate in your quest to earn a fleshlight lol
Well, I wasn't requesting the picture but since you asked count me in! Wink
So how much would you both be in for? PM me if you'd prefer.

Fresh idea!
Are you in for a donation?

We may have enough in donations to make it go, guybrush. Might want to get a head start on shaving that body hair this weekend.

If he doesn't do it; I will. But I'm putting a sock on my schlong haha. No way I'd do it with my knob out... well, it'd have to be for a lot more than a fleshlight  Grin.
16944  Other / Off-topic / Re: Place your bets on “12 Years a Slave” to win an Oscar or two or... on: January 18, 2014, 10:34:06 AM
I really don't understand why Gravity is nominated for best picture, it's a crappy movie with a crappy plot and awful acting, can someone explain me what's so great about this film?

I haven't seen it yet, but you're the first person I've seen say something negative about it. I'm looking forward to e
watching it.
16945  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why so much spam? on: January 18, 2014, 10:30:52 AM
it's not so many spam if you get used to it, I see bitcointalk as a crosstype of a forum and a chat Cheesy
so everyone is expressing their minds in short posts but longer then in a chat room if you know what I mean? Smiley
So, that makes it ok?  Do you try to sell something to every single person you talk to in real life, or beg them to go to a store and drop your name so you get a kickback?

Do you wear branded clothing or eat and drink from branded packaging? Nobody is selling or begging you try anything here, nor is anybody forcing you to do anything. You can also turn signatures off in your profile.

I'd also like to mention that PD3 will have a very strong affiliate program, our PD2 program has been inactive since the beginning more or less for most users. We're going to make it so users can see a wide range of analytics with regards to their referrals as well.

That will be interesting info to have. Is there any details you can give us on the referral program / payments, or will this be released soon?
16947  Economy / Services / Re: Earn up to 0.8BTC/month just by posting! - Advertise for PrimeDice.com! *Updated on: January 18, 2014, 10:14:48 AM
Today is the day! Opened up bitcointalk and have 100 unread messages in inbox currently  Shocked

Please allow up to 24 hours to get your payment, if you sent the correct format it shouldn't take too long.

I'm actually very surprised you actually send payment out as quick as you do as there's a lot of people taking part in this deal. Are you a one man team?

Feedback has been left. Thanks again.

I got only half of my payment Sad

Probably discounted half of your posts from this thread haha. I've just had a quick look through your posts and some are only one or a few word answers and there's a lot of wallet address giveways. etc. Maybe that was why? Are you sure you're not getting confused with the double pay Stunna offered for the other giveaway like a couple of us were?
16948  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: U.S. announces forfeiture of $28 million of bitcoins belonging to Silk Road on: January 17, 2014, 01:53:57 PM
Can anyone clarify for me:

How does the FBI have access to the bitcoins? They have unencrypted wallet.dat file or they  know the password?

I read all the time about how bitcoins can't be seized... so what happened in the case of DPR's bitcoins?

They arrested him with the laptop open and got the private keys. Pretty sure they compromised the server too. If he was smart, he would have used a brain wallet. One of the few recommended reasons.

He's an even bigger idiot then if this is what happened.

I think the NSA cracked his personal stash or got the passwords one way or another, not 100% though.

Yeah he was in a library chillin on his laptop. He obviously had delusions of grandeur and other mental problems.

The kind of money he was earning must've gone to his head. I bet being DPR would’ve been a bit of a rush.

That kinda money obviously did go to his head when he's hiring people to whack users who become a possible threat to his business empire. And I think a bit of a rush would be an understatement. The levels of smug he must've achieved would be staggering. Not so much when he got caught though  Grin.
16949  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I've been published in the Guardian, defending sex work. on: January 17, 2014, 01:47:39 PM
Well done, Magpie. Will you be writing any more pieces? I know you mentioned you submitted one about using Bitcoin as a sexworker but was rejected?
16950  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The last posting from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago on: January 17, 2014, 01:42:01 PM
Welp, this is incredibly annoying. I just want to post in a support thread for coinmine pools.

i have NOt ONCE been able to post, why is no one addressing the fact that this is a catch 22. i keep seeing people say "the more you post the less your restriction is!"

IF I CANt FRIGGIN POSt I CANt GEt RID OF the REStRICtiON!

Wait six minutes before you try post or after you log in. Simples.
16951  Other / Meta / Re: Images in signatures. on: January 17, 2014, 01:38:12 PM
I don't think we're at too big of a risk seeing that image everywhere... considering that guy hasn't been online since March 2012.

Yeah, but not if people keep necro-ing his posts Grin. There's a few other sig images dotted around.

Out of interest, what was the reason for removing them?

The same reason we're thinking about getting rid of signature advertising... it was super fucking annoying.

Would it be possible to add a ignore sig function like the ignore Button? While I find the sig advertising annoying, I don't want to totally ignore sigs. Some of my favorite YouTube channels are from sids here. Beeiing able only to ignore sigs of specific users would be great.

I was thinking about that or maybe an option to chose to ignore paid sigs etc.

Rat

Haha. None of them have logged in in over a year anyway, and if they did I'm sure the sigs would've been removed.

16953  Other / Meta / Re: Why my activity doesn't increase? on: January 17, 2014, 12:29:30 PM
Maybe someone can help me out with this: if activity = min(post, twoweeks*14), and my post count is near 100, then how can my activity is showing up 42? I think that I even spent more than 3 times twoweeks around here, so anyway should be higher.

Any help would be very welcome.

Depends on when the forums 'two week periods' start I think.

Website is indeed currently down, we are looking into this.

Will my 1000 Satoshis be safe?  Grin.

I'm also looking forward to the new site and how the referrals will work.

I wouldn't worry about losing your balance.

You will all be glad to know they are indeed safe  Cheesy. Looking forward to the new site and giveaway.
16955  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why so much spam? on: January 17, 2014, 11:08:33 AM
It seems like 95% of the crypto 'community' has only one goal... to sell you whatever garbage someone will pay them $2/month to shill.  It's pathetic.

Reminds me a lot of this:
http://www.bumvertising.com/

So much spam. Spam everywhere.

Id' stay out of the newbie or alt currency sections if you don't like walls of spam and crap everywhere  Grin.

Anyone want to buy cans of spam $2 each? NO PAYPAL.

16956  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Has anyone been using Bitcoin marketplaces since bitmit closed? on: January 17, 2014, 11:05:49 AM
I think if there's a decent Bitcoin or crypto market that has reasonable fees they're going to make a lot of money. We definitely need one.
16957  Other / Off-topic / Re: Accused of hacking by cops. need some expert thoughts. on: January 17, 2014, 11:04:26 AM
Hi,

One of my friends has been accused by the police for hacking.

Oh one of your "friends". Nice try, hacker  Grin.

He has wireless, but the cops said if that was the case, when the wifi gets hacked, then the IP would be different.

If they're telling your "friend" stuff like this then I wouldn't worry too much.
16958  Other / Off-topic / Re: Place your bets on “12 Years a Slave” to win an Oscar or two or... on: January 17, 2014, 11:01:23 AM
One of Bitcoin's betting sites come to mind, albeit I'm not citing one of them thanks to last April's fiasco.

The awards will air on February 30, 2014, (March 2, for those who don't observe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_History_Month).

I first learnt about this flick via NPR late last year, and just now viewed the trailer. I truly believe this one will win Best Picture of the Year, considering...

~TMIBTCITW

You think it's going to win an Oscar based merely on the trailer? Actually, I haven't even seen the trailer but I reckon it'll probably win  Grin.
16959  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is a Drone? on: January 17, 2014, 10:57:29 AM
Drone is a really shitty genre of music. Here is a mini documentary on Drone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYadgUJ_pGk
16960  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you have done? on: January 17, 2014, 10:31:21 AM
It doesn't matter if he insulted your dead mother, you don't ever punch a person out of anger, you just mock them like I do or move along and if they attack you that's when you can fight back Tongue mind you, people tend to just move along themselves if they ever get on the receiving end of my mocking Cheesy

Sounds like you're quite the Insult Assassin there. Something tells me you wouldn’t decide to mock someone who was twice the size of you. And being on the internet doesn't count  Grin.

You don't know me very well Tongue size doesn't mean shit to me Cheesy

To quote Minsc from Baldurs Gate 2: The bigger they are! The harder I hit!

The fact that you are quoting Baldurs Gate leads me to be doubtful of such claims  Grin.
