hello there, bitcoin forum!
i'm quite new to this forum... well, to be honest: im using it since 3-4 months to get the latest news and launch dates of certain coins, but never spent some time to register  Undecided   i really would like to post my wallet adresses in the giveaway-threads and have a lot of questions about aliencoin and some other coins but this is just not possible due to this forums post restrictions. and i think lots of people out there would like to do the same! one can only post when trusted and trust comes with posts... brace yourselfe! its the chicken and the egg thing.
at some point its not really fair not being able to post in all those giveaway-threads... the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. thats quite the oposite of a crypto currencies spirit, i would say...

dear admins and moderators, please consider a different way of keeping spam and useless posts away from this forum. it's not fair the way it is  Sad

sincerely,
fipsminingOD

You think having to browse the forums for four hours after making one post is unfair? You already did it for months any way. You should've just signed up earlier. All of us have to deal with it at some point, but you're a Jnr member now any way so you should be good to go.

Investing in buying or mining? Regardless of that, no one can really give you valid answer as to what will be a better investment, so you'll just have to decide for yourself. But look at the total number of coins for each. DIGI has 21 Billion Total Coins whilst USD has 1.6 Billion.
16923  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Litecoin Mining - is it profitable? on: January 18, 2014, 11:46:10 AM
Fair play. Good to know  Smiley I suspected that would be the case. I'm into my raspberry pi stuff so wondered about setting those bad boys to work. Think ill stick to investing/earning.

I would definitely advise against mining on a Raspberry Pi haha.

Well, unless you have built one of these:

16924  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Using Bitcoin in Burger King... on: January 18, 2014, 11:41:12 AM

I think I've got a fair grasp on the basic theory of Bitcoin.

But so far, it appears to me that Bitcoin is only suitable for use where a vendor can wait for payment to validated - tens of minutes - before delivering the goods that were purchased.

So, per my topic title, you couldn't go into Burger King (or your favorite fast food joint or any other meat-space store), whip out your smartphone, shoot some bitcoin at the cash register, and they let you walk out with your burger and fries.   Or your grocery store, and they let you walk out with $200 worth of groceries.

Is that correct?   Would anyone be interested in discussing a BIP or altcoin that makes that possible?

Thanks

Do they let you walk out of the store after you've used your credit card? You could go home ring your bank and cancel the transaction.

Once you send the Bitcoin the money is as good as received so you don't need to wait for the full confirmations. Retail businesses will use payment processors that will insure against double spending etc anyway so it's a moot point.
16925  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What / Where are the VERY best faucets currently ? on: January 18, 2014, 11:38:11 AM
What / Where are the VERY best faucets currently ? BTC Please link to the one you have had the most success with !!!! Thanks !!!!

I wouldn't really waste my time with faucets but PD has a decent one where you get 100 satoshis or 1000 if you asked to be whitelisted, but you need to gamble with a bit to cash out. Good fun though.
16926  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Centralised crypto currency on: January 18, 2014, 11:35:18 AM
Hi,

Do you guys think there is a future in centralised cryptocurrencies? If all or most of the coins are pre-mined by a party you can have some of the advantages regulatory currencies have like managed inflation. This could be used by small companies for example.

I don't think there's any advantages to us in this, although I'm sure there will be corporations or entities that try it, but why we would need or want to use them is another question.
16927  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Purchasing bitcoin if your in the UK or AUD on: January 18, 2014, 11:33:40 AM
Hey!

So I have an English bank account and an Australian bank account but am finding it really quite difficult to buy bitcoins with either currency! What kind of websites are you guys using atm to purchase bitcoins? I'd prefer to avoid avenues whereby I have to wait 5 working days for the transaction to go through or I have to meet people IRL etc.

I'm envisioning this method whereby I put my card details into the website, within moments bitcoins arrive! I dont mind providing documents, getting verified etc!

Cheers
Mark

I recommend Bittylicious for the UK. Very simple and easy to use and you'll have your coins in around ten minutes.
16928  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: wanna here a joke on: January 18, 2014, 11:32:05 AM
free joke?

It's not free as you have to pay 0.00001BTC to hear it.
16929  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello everyone on: January 18, 2014, 11:31:07 AM
Is mining bitcoins really dead? I was thinking of mining but then a friend said it was not worth it. Any suggestions?

It's not dead obviously, but it might as well be to beginners. You need to invest a hell of a lot of money to get into the BTC mining game now. You might as well mine a newer alt coin then exchange it for BTC.

16931  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Altcoin Trading on: January 18, 2014, 11:26:22 AM
I have been hearing about bitcoins and the such for awhile now, wish I had jumped in when I first heard of them. But anyway missed that bus. A couple of my friends have been talking about trading altcoins on cryptsy, much like trading on the FOREX. I have gone over started an account but it seems like there is not that much info to make good sound judgement calls. From what I am seeing its like playing Hi-Lo with a double deck of cards. I was wondering if anyone would share their strategy for trading altcoins (besides the pump and dump scheme). Is there any real way to accumulate coins from trading?

There is no foolproof way to generate or guarantee profit. You simply have to use your own intuition and play the markets, and you might win on some and lose on others.
16932  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What coin besides BTC/LTC would you like to see in CoinMap.org? on: January 18, 2014, 11:23:10 AM
I like coinmap.org and I check it constantly to see new places added, I wonder what crypto should be the next one listed there.

FTC as it's already accepted in a few places, but I think all cryptocoins should be noted on there with the option to only search for a specific currency.
16933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vending Machines? on: January 18, 2014, 11:21:04 AM
We're already starting to see Bitcoin ATM's (or whatever the hell you want to call them), so my question is: when will we start seeing vending machines that accept Bitcoins? Or are they already in existence and I've been living under a rock the past few years?

I'm just fascinated by seeing Bitcoins enter the public sphere with things like ATM's. Considering still that most people don't know what the hell Bitcoins are.

Somebody already adapted a drinks vending machine to accept BTC. There is a thread and video of it in action somewhere. This would definitely be a good idea as it's very easy to use fake money in a lot of vending machines.

16935  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Litecoin Mining - is it profitable? on: January 18, 2014, 11:09:34 AM
I'm an investor of bitcoin and quark, just wanting opinions.

Is joining a litecoin mining pool still a profitable venture? I haven't done ANYA math yet, but wondering about other people's experiences. Is it worth the electricity bill. I'll be using everyday pc equipment, nothing special.

Not at all on an average computer. Best off trying to mine a new crapcoin and then trade it for LTC or BTC etc, but I still wouldn't bother.

Is this same as COYE or not? I am confused))

Oh, I think it might be but just trying to rebrand it.

16938  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Online Wallet Scams (Post the names/urls of sites that may have scammed you!) on: January 18, 2014, 11:00:01 AM
Instant-E.com online wallet is what most people would call a SCAM!

My first experience with mining was an eye opener. I thought keeping your own digital wallet was potentially insecure and looked toward online wallets to store my initial Litecoin mining.

Instant-E.com online wallet was a BAD choice for me to store my LTC. They took my first 0.59 LTC deposit and scammed me!!

Thankfully it was only 0.59 LTC taken!!

Please list sites that have taken you money so that other may not be subject to the same fate.

I wouldn't use any online wallets for alt coins. BTC's Blockchain.info is legit and very safe if you take advantage of all the security features.
16939  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin's confirmation time problem in retail stores? on: January 18, 2014, 10:58:26 AM
I'm pretty new to all this crypto currency stuff, but I'm wondering one thing. It takes a while before a bitcoin transaction is confirmed. Won't this be *the* problem for becoming used in retail stores for example?

I can't imagin waiting several minutes before my payment for my groceries are confirmed. Any thoughts on this?

Have you actually spent or transferred any Bitcoin? I usually find this question or argument coming from people who haven't. Once they've been sent they're as good as received. Retail shops will use a payment processor that will insure against any problems like this anyway so it's not a problem either way.
