1781  Economy / Speculation / Re: I've been confused in BTC on: August 30, 2022, 09:13:45 PM
No one knows if the price of bitcoin is going to fall further or not, but if you hold, the price will later rise and reach all-time-time. Even if bitcoin price fall further, likely it is not going to fall below $17500, if it continues to fall further, it would only slightly fall further. If you are able to hold till 2024/2025, people will fomo after 2024 halving and all-time-time is possible.
I guess seeing chances for bitcoin price to drop further is never a big deal anymore as we know in the first place that bitcoin price fluctuates from time to time. So expect that its price will fall further only if there are attacks that triggers bitcoin. However, if you are into long term hodling, then you should be more patient and flexible because bitcoin price won’t never give a fixed value no matter what.
1782  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can One Actually Do Crypto Trading As A Living? on: August 29, 2022, 09:36:11 PM
I've heard of many people talk about cryptocurrency and its potentials all the time and at a point I begin to wonder if one can just depend fully on cryptocurrency as a means of livelihood.
It depends on his own skills and capabilities. If he is a professional trader and knows the best entry and exit in trading, then most likely he will make a good living with crypto. But as an advice, no matter how good you are, trading has its always associated risks and the market is not always good to trade. If you can find other job opportunities in crypto, that will be a lot better so you can have multi sources to generate an income.
1783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be worth zero? on: August 29, 2022, 08:40:21 PM
But what would happen if the oldest and most valuable asset on the market, Bitcoin, dropped to zero?

Such thing would happen only if an unrecoverable and very big problem would be found in Bitcoin. Until now no such thing has happened (the big problems were early and recoverable), so we can say it has already passed the test of time and 0-value scenario is pretty much unlikely.

However, was this a genuine question or just some attempt to advertise a website?
Obviously it’s more on the advertisement of this website he posted. But anyway, bitcoin will never reach zero value if there will be no world events that will leave huge effects on its price. Although the market had experienced a lot of struggles because of some inevitable events but all those have only come and passed, and up to this moment, there are still no reasons that bitcoin will end up being useless and end up in zero value.
1784  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Haney vs Kambosos II (Undisputed) on: August 27, 2022, 02:12:52 PM
So George Kambosos is fully aware that this rematch is a do or die for him. If he losses again especially in a wide decision or stoppage, people will start to believe that his Teofimo victory was only a fluke. And he will get back into the drawing board again. Mentioning that he won't go back to fighting domestic fighters in Australia might mean that he will fight overseas against hometown fighters which is kinda difficult for him as he is not a KO artist. Personally, I want Kambosos to win to shake things up. And I always want underdogs to win as much as possible.

Quoted from Yahoo Sports;
Quote
"It's a great division but for me, I'm 29 so for me it's do or die," Kambosos told reporters.

"If I don't overcome this fight you will not see me back in Australia fighting domestic guys; that's not me.

"Everything I have I will be putting into that ring and me training, and god willing I will be victorious."

At least he knows himself how important this fight is, he wants to push his limit and will try to even the W. Yes, obviously he is not a KO artist as in his 20 wins, only 10 of that are coming from KO. Just like you, I also like betting on the underdog, but honestly, I'm quite disappointed with his performance in the first fight and I think we will be seeing the same outcome in this rematch.
1785  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Shakur Stevenson vs Robson Conceicao - Sept 23 on: August 27, 2022, 01:18:43 PM

Bettors is also what they are after and this one sided match is a money maker. Shakur is just too much of an accurate skilled fighter compare to Conceicao. And to make sure he wins, the fight its also going to be held in Shakur's hometown. He has all the advantage in this fight.
For bettors, it's 50-50, I mean there's no easy way to win as although our guess maybe right most of the time because w are favoring the heavy favorites, however, the odds is also very small.

That's the norms in betting, there's no way our bookies would allow to lose money, they should make money as that's their business.

As we can see here, https://www.oddschecker.com/boxing/shakur-stevenson-v-robson-conceicao/winner

It reflects that  Shakur Stevenson is the heavy favorite, while Robson Conceicao is 9/1 in the betting.
Judging on the betting odds, it looks very obvious who will easily win here.
1786  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Crawford vs Spence on: August 27, 2022, 11:55:21 AM

We still have plenty of time, and I believe as the fans are calling their attention, they will eventually make an announcement about the finality of the fight.
I know that, but if we don't have a positive development, I'm afraid we will only be left speculating.

Be optimistic my friend, this fight is not rumored for nothing, we are speculating but we must remain positive. The biggest fight this year, possibly, so it will give us the kind of entertainment that we are wanting to see.

Hey @wheelz1200, can I request you put a poll?

I'm sure the votes will be very close.
1787  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Fernando Martinez vs Jerwin Ancajas rematch - Oct.8 on: August 27, 2022, 10:33:35 AM
The Ancajas team will have to make significant adjustments for the upcoming fight with Martinez, since in the first fight Ankahas could not restrain Martinez's attacks and turn the tide of the fight in his favor and acted, as it seems to me, without initiative, I hope now he will have more motivation.

I think in the first fight, Ancajas failed to adjust since Martinez is just a replacement so the strategy that Ancajas works for months had been wasted.  So I think that is a fair enough reason to mess up on their first fight.  Even Pacquiao in his post-fight interview stating that he had trouble adjusting to Ugas during the fight shows how difficult it is for a boxer when there is a sudden change of opponent.  But I think this 2nd fight will be different since Ancajas has ample time to review and scout the opponent and create a sound strategy to beat Martinez.

Let's take that as a valid excuse, but if you look at the other side, Martinez could also use that as an excuse if he loses the fight. now, there are no more excuses because they are given a rematch if Ancajas think it's the adjustment that made him lose the fight, then for sure, he can make the right adjustment in this fight given he had plenty of time to prepare.

That's why excuses are not good in boxing, because it will only lose respect to the winner of the fight, why not give credit to the winner and for the loses, he has to work harder next time, make the right adjustment so the opportunity of the rematch will not be wasted.
1788  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: August 27, 2022, 09:13:08 AM
Just 20 days to go!!!

I can't really believe that I waited so long (4 years) for this fight to happen. Could have happened in 2019, but then Canelo gave some silly excuse to delay it. Anyway, I hope that this time we will get an outcome without much controversies. And this is going to be the last fight from this franchise, and there will never be a GGG vs Canelo 4. And that is also the reason why I want to have a clear outcome from this match.

Possible outcomes:

1. Canelo KO Golovkin - low probability, but possible
2. Canelo UD Golovkin - highest probability
3. Canelo SD Golovkin - high probability
4. Golovkin SD Canelo - moderate probaility
5. Golovkin UD Canelo - moderate probaility
6. Golovkin KO Canelo - almost impossible

I would choose Golovkin to win via a split decision. That would make the fans happy, and of course, it could be a controversial fight that might result in another big fight. KO really has the lowest probability here as we had already witnessed the last two fights, and no one was even get knocked down.
1789  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 27, 2022, 08:28:55 AM
Here's an article that talks a little bit about why picking up Patrick Beverly makes it very likely that Russell Westbrook will be out the door sooner than later.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/the-lakers-acquiring-patrick-beverley-makes-it-more-likely-that-russell-westbrook-will-be-traded-or-sent-home-says-team-insider/ar-AA1175Za?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=cbb820dfa584252781ee54cfb0f5ef9d

I was surprised to see in the article that they're predicting Westbrook will be moved by the start of training camp.  That's right around the corner.  If that's true, we could see an announcement as early as the end of next week that Russell Westbrook has been traded for Buddy Hield.
This is flooding my social media account, I don't know why, I don't even follow PatBev.  Cheesy
Why drag THT in the process? That's a young player on his way to being an average roleplayer. A backup. I think the Lakers lost at this trade but it doesn't mean I am underrating PatBev, that veteran got a lot of heart for the game, is very competitive and the goal is always to win.

About the Westbrook issue, I believe yes they might trade him but it will still depend on how much the Pacers are offering, if the Lakers won't find it fair then we might not see a close.
Rumors have it that it's Buddy Hield and Myles Turner on the line. I doubt about the Pacers letting go of the big star Turner.

That would be to the benefit of the Lakers if the trade will happen.

Turner could be a good backup for Davis or will play as a center, while Buddy Hield could help Lebron since he is an accurate shooter. Imagine, how big they are if that's the line considering the trade will happen.

This is just a rumor but I'm excited for this to be realized, maybe Westbrook does not really fit in a team that he is not the main man.
1790  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: August 27, 2022, 07:55:25 AM

Gotta give credit to the hustles of other Beermen too. We know the team is missing the production of T. Romeo but Ross and the other guys are stepping up. You never know who is going to come up with big shots at crucial moments.

They always play good defense, yes, no Romeo but they have Ross, Lassitter, and Perez. Also, they have more big men compared to the TNT, so in short they have a deep roster, and when Fajardo would always play like an MVP, no way the TNT will make it a close series.
1791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: August 26, 2022, 03:51:11 PM
Looks like TNT is not missing Chot Reyes, they are competing very well against the SMB. Anyone here knows the handicap in this game? I was too busy and forgot that there's a game today. If I was able to place my bet, I would still go with SMB.

It's -3.5 for San Miguel Beermen, not that high and very attractive if you are a fan of SMB but looking at the game right now it seems that whoever wins, will just have a lead of not more than 5 points because it's a close one not like in game 2 where SMB separated in the early minutes of the fourth quarter.

Okay, good thing I didn't bet, this game goes to OT because of a bad mistake.  Smiley

There's a chance that SMB will cover here, or TNT to win, Jayson Castro this time did not make the last shot attempt, he was defended well.
More extra minutes, more fun. GO SMB!

Lucky break, they really cover the spread because they dominated the TNT in overtime. I think the final score is already 108-100, there are a few seconds left but SMB will already get this win. congratulations backers, SMB win, and covers.

Thanks to that error by Herndon, if not by that mistake SMB could have won by one point or TNT by a point or two depending if it's a three point shot or just a two.
I'm assuming you bet on SMB, well, the result favors you because they will not cover the spread if they win.
That's what you called luck on the gambler's side, TNT was very eager to beat the SMB but they fell short.

Another monster game by the Kraken, registering 27 points and 27 rebounds in a game, this could be a personal record for him or might be a PBA record if i'm not mistaken. When we look at it, seems like TNT has no match to the firepower of SMB but they just refuse to llet go and give the Beermen a good fight.

He is back on his MVP form (I must say), getting 27 rebounds is just a monster performance, I am not surprised with the points as anyone can generate that, but boy, getting both points and rebounds with high numbers, that's just unbelievable.
1792  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 26, 2022, 03:00:49 PM
Too bad that the young lad had to suffer an injury early in his career but it's a good preparation for his career. He already started some weight training and shooting exercises as mentioned in the article so he could be scary when he returns. Chet has a decent shot outside and he could reach Toni Kukoc's level or maybe surpass it.

It's fine he's not the only one who had hurt himself before his NBA debut and made an amazing season after that. Most likely they will still gonna have some light practice to condition their body and will gonna be ready once they are fully recovered just like Zion Williamson this upcoming season. It's not just his time yet this season and maybe when he gets back he is fully aware of what role he gonna play to further strengthen their team.
I was hoping I could witness early on why he was picked by OKC rather than Jabari Smith. We might not see that in this season. Yes, this is just like the expectation with Zion, the only difference was Zion was the number 1 pick and even after resting for a year the hype doesn't end although Ja Morant had proven so much being a pro than him.

What I wish is for the kid Chet is to not let this become a mental problem. It's just an injury it will heal and he can still go back.
Lisfranc injury is said to take a year before it heals fully. That will mean we should not expect for him even if the OKC go far as post season.

This season he wasn't going to play much anyway.  Just because offensively he is polished, there is zero way he can guard an nba center or even power forward in the post.  He would be a liability on defense.  Jabari has much more of an nba body to be able to defend the post.  My guess is chet was only gonna see around 10 or so minutes a game anyway, when the other teams go small ball.

In that case, he should continue in getting more weight (right after the healing period), so he will be able to compete with the strong Centers in the NBA. Giannis did not enter the NBA with the kind of body he has now, he was also thin, so there's a chance that Chet could improve in the areas where we think he is weak.
1793  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Crawford vs Spence on: August 26, 2022, 01:59:11 PM
^^ I don't think there is "testing of waters", they know already  that it will be big, and so it boils down to money. Maybe not the boxers directly as they could be settled on "XX amount of dollars as guarantee", but it's more on the people behind them, their Promotional Company and the Network executives, they might be recomputing the risk involved as well, like PPV numbers because for sure it will be illegally stream, thus cutting what will they got as revenues and it will be enough to make them huge profits as well because we all know that boxing is a business.

Agree to that, they are computing the potential profits before both camps will agree to any settlement, they both know that the

risk in terms of careers is very high and with the big hypes under their names they needed  to make sure that the profits that they will be

getting from this possible big fights will guarantee both camps for huge amount of money. It's a business and promoters and handlers

will take all the cut from each venue of possible money making side.

We know that already, they can make a big amount of money in this fight, but if there greediness will come in and they won't agree with one getting a bigger share, then there's a possibility that the fight will not happen, but the chance is very low IMO.

I would not think of that chance as we have been speculating so much, so this fight should happen soon. Both fighters believe they are the number 1 in their division, so they have to prove that in the ring. Too much demand about the purse or income in this fight is not good, one should accept a lower cut and don't think it's not fair so we will see a very entertaining fight.

1795  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Longterm Price Target on: August 25, 2022, 09:19:14 PM
I'll say that sky is the limit if it's about the truest potential and price of bitcoin in the future. Take all of those halvings for example and when we say long term, it'll depend on how long you're looking at it.

With halving, as the reward for the mined blocks will become lesser for the miners. That will result to the lesser supply and higher difficulty for it to mine a block and as well as higher price.

Well, I don't have a price in my mind but I'm very much optimistic and waiting for it to come. Many might laugh at us for now if we tell them about 6 to 7 digits but who knows, right?
I can’t set a fixed future price of bitcoin but the fact that its value grows every year, then I will always hope for the best price of bitcoin, a price that is way lot higher from all those all time highs being achieved. As long as there are potentials of bitcoin that keeps meeting the demand of the crypto community, then we can expect for the best and highest price of bitcoin to be achieved.
1796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Teaching Bitcoin To My Friends| You're invited too on: August 25, 2022, 08:41:15 PM
In fact, I found that they are interested to learn about Bitcoin. Also, one of them wants to buy some bitcoin and give it to his wife as a wedding anniversary.
Well, that's quite an odd anniversary gift, not sure about the romance behind it, but if it triggers interest in Bitcoin, it could give more value overtime than other more conventional gifts which are given during such periods.

Great that you're teaching Bitcoin to people around you; I'm beginning to find many of the posts about this subject performative, but if as little as one person gets interested in Bitcoin through them, then it's very worth it.
Bitcoin will gain higher value in the future, so it’s certainly a good anniversary gift for keeps. And the more bitcoin you give, the bigger the profits will be, as long as they’re intended for long term investments.

Bitcoin is a very interesting topic I guess and people who have sharp minds and wise mindset will definitely fall into bitcoin. I just hope OP that you will also explain to them that investing in bitcoin brings a lot of risks too, that is why they should only invest amount that they can afford to lose.
1797  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Taking the awareness of crypto and Btt forum to the youths on: August 24, 2022, 09:59:14 PM
Good initiative, but I do hope that you focused on what they can learn from bitcointalk and not on the ways to earn from it via bounties and signature campaigns because so many users got stuck in altcoin section doing bounties fro years, without ever realizing that bitcointalk is so much more than a cash cow.
Well in the end it can't be prevented as long as the forum still has a bounty section. I understand that a lot of people here have taken forum as a side job that makes a few bucks to help them make ends meet. I wouldn't blame them for this but when they all end up in the wrong section then in the end they will never get any good knowledge other than just a few bucks off a non-potential altcoin.

We've actually touched on this issue a few times where we sometimes give some advice so that beginners don't fall into the false expectations of many altcoin projects. Some beginners manage to develop their skills even they manage to have their own business by adopting bitcoin, but that's only a small percentage of people.
Bitcoin means profits for most of us so it’s always expected that people mostly come into the forum because of the profits that bitcoin could give. Particularly for newbies, I believe most of them are motivated with money only and they are only after with quick profits they hope to find in bitcoin. However, in reality, bitcoin is not as easy as that. Yes, there are really good profits to find when we talk of bitcoin but you also need to be knowledgeable and skilled  particularly in the bitcointalk forum because if you learned to understand the forum more deeply, the bigger chances that you will also learn to understand how to make easier profits with bitcoin and with the bitcointalk forum itself.
1798  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do real traders care about bear & bull market? on: August 24, 2022, 09:43:45 PM
I do not know what a "real" trader means, I mean I do trades, I am usually a long term investor but I do have a few trades per week, just when I think things are looking like prime to buy and sell. Does this market impact me? Of course it does, and it doesn't really feel like it is a special situation that only I feel, it must be something that everyone is feeling.

By "caring" do we mean that we stop or something? Because we do not stop but we do not like it neither. It's best if we could have a bull market because in that market everyone wins, but just because we are in bear market doesn't mean that we have to run away and hide and not do anything at all.
There are always opportunities to make profits both in bear and bull market, but you have to be an experienced trader for you to see every opportunity that comes. However, in my years of trading and long term hodling, best profits will always be possible when there is bullish season as we always know that bull market always create possible profits into reality.
1799  Economy / Economics / Re: The BTC price must stabilize in the long run. on: August 24, 2022, 09:19:22 PM
The only way to get people to stop worrying and shying away from Bitcoin, is to banish the volatility aspet of it, naturally.

I put emphasis on the word "naturally" because you cannot force a monetary process to establish itself in a few short years. The price and users must gradually reach an inflection point on their own.

It is similar to implementing the Euro as the official European currency. By no means were the governments rushed to scrap their central bank currencies, they were give ample time (about a decade or two IIRC) to phase it in, in stages.

So Bitcoin, and anything that wants to follow it in market capitalization, must be introduced to the public in phases, which could take a very long time.

The rest of the altcoins that do not stabilize can disappear (e.g. Solana), I have no pity for them as they only serve to give larger cryptocurrencies (and crypto in general) a bad name in the news.

As I see Bitcoin as time goes on, its price in the market is going up, and we have all seen that since 2009 which started with less than 1 $ each Bitcoin is now priced at 20k $ more than one. Although it has fallen from a high price of more than 69k $ and it can be said if it really stabilizes, especially now that many believe that bitcoin in the future will possibly be 100k $ each or more so many are buying now and they are holding it's a few years from now.
It’s hard for bitcoin to get stabilized, as its volatility will always be present no matter what. That is why using it as a currency or a legal tender might create more confusion on part of the people, the reason why the government is still hesitant to adopt it as a currency. However, in terms of market stabilization, I know in the long run bitcoin will bound to recover and will reach new all time highs once again. For now, let’s just grab the opportunity of buying it at a discounted price.
1800  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What your ideas about bitcoin adoption in the future? on: August 24, 2022, 08:58:14 PM
Now the demands of bitcoin was reduced due to the reduction in bitcoin price. But in parallel, new people was get into the crypto currency.Specifically they make some investment in the bitcoin. So the bitcoin had good future by considering as an asset. It also had great scope by the mean of stock market trading.
Bitcoin will always have a good future when it comes to being an asset because people nowadays are more interested into digital currencies. However, when it comes to bitcoin adoption, I believe there is always progress every year as some of the country’s government are now starting to be more open into adopting cryptocurrencies particularly with bitcoin as its demand from the people keeps growing every year.
