1421  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Willing To Get Educated On The Bitcointalk Forum on: December 28, 2022, 09:58:15 PM
I recently joined Bitcointalk.org and now I realize there are many things to comprehend on this topic that I can't achieve on my own.

You'll only have trouble if you don't understand Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in the first place. Because in the end, Bitcointalk is almost just like any other Bitcoin/cryptocurrency community.
The reason why there is a need to do a lot of research first before you can finally understand bitcoin and this bitcointalk forum. And for you to be able to do that, you have to widely open your mind not only in the forum but also to the different ideas coming from different resources. And prepare yourself for a good discussion, as bitcointalk forum is not only a place to learn, but you should also be a source of good and quality information so that others will also learn from you. In short, this forum will enable everyone to learn and benefit from all members.
1422  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If your friend would tell you this... on: December 28, 2022, 09:37:06 PM
I do not need to be a genius to know that gambling other people's money is always a bad idea.
At first I would try to convince my friend not to gamble that much but rather invest it, if he insisted I think I would try to go for live poker. I would try to learn more and improve my technique first, since it has been a long time since I played it.

The other options would be dices, but that would be too risky, in my opinion.
Gambling that huge amount is highly risky, but if he really insist to take the risk, poker would do but you also have to be the best poker you can be so you have higher chances of winning. Also, I see sportsbetting will also give me higher chances to win since it’s not a luck based game. But I won’t also bet in an event like football since I’m not very particular about it, but most likely on basketball and boxing where I can assure I know the game well.

The ball is in your court, it's certain that the market will go bullish. If you are a hodler keep holding and don't focus completely on the market price. Get busy with other things that can fetch you more bitcoin or altcoins. Though from the negative news on cryptocurrency, the bear market will stay for a longer time, the right move is to accumulate more BTC.
Right. After all, bear market is the best time for accumulation, and bull market is the time to reap what you sow. So no need to worry and panic, as we can always stay calm while silently buying bitcoin and diversify it with potential altcoins. As monitoring the market more often won’t help, just make yourself busy with other hobbies and while you’re enjoying it, you’ll be surprise later on that the crypto market has slowly got into bullish. So maximize your purchase now, and enjoy the huge profits later.
1424  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Licenses and Casino reputation on: December 28, 2022, 06:16:11 AM
I don't know that much about license but the benefit in having a licensed gambling site is that you know that they are operating legally and the chance of running away is a little bit low as you can track and report them to authorities.

Personally I feel comfortable playing on a gambling site that has gambling license but not all gambling site that has license are legitimate, some of them turning out to be a scam so it doesn't mean that it is safe haven for gambling players.
I guess that’s all we want as gamblers, to land in gambling casinos that are operating legally so that we can feel security while gambling. But I believe licensed casinos are not free from having issues and problems that will surely challenge the casinos to stay at edge from other casinos. But as long as casinos have address the problems and resolve them quickly, I think that’s the most important thing so that gamblers will definitely stay on the site.
1425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Very thankful for what bitcoin has done for me. on: December 28, 2022, 05:38:02 AM

Long story short I am able to work remotley and live anywhere and be happy with what I have because I know without bitcoin I would never have this life. Thank you satoshi Smiley

What did bitcoin really do for you or what do you do with bitcoin. Really how is this happening to you? Did you buy 1,000 btc 10 years back and you hodl it long time until the price is $64k last year haha or you trade on bitcoin. Your account is new to profit in campaign posting, so how is the benefit you talk about bitcoin for you .

Bitcoin with the help of the community can help people understand more about personal
finance it helps educate people about the FIAT financial system and how it creates an alternative.

It's up to everyone how much and to what extent they want to embrace Bitcoin.

Personally Bitcoin has taught me how to understand my points above and the long
term goal of being financially independent and escaping as much as possible the
FIAT system.

It's up to everyone to make the most of it for themselves.
It’s true that bitcoin has provided us vast opportunities but it’s certainly up to us how we can manage them, others would run and grab for it while some chose to be reluctant because they believe bitcoin is a big scam. So its always our individual’s choice whether to embrace the potentials of bitcoin or not. And I’m thankful that I chose to trust bitcoin and now it’s making my life more comfortable and financially stable.
1426  Economy / Economics / Re: Hope for cryptocurrency in Nigeria. on: December 26, 2022, 09:29:44 PM
Positive approach from the government. The country that have got good number of cryptocurrency users, and still without proper stand from the government is really a mess. One side the government is showing its interest on making cryptocurrency legal and lift the ban. On the other side through its CBDC launch the government is trying to keep things under control.

Anyhow it is really good to make the best choice to support its economic uplifting. As in the above response, maybe considering it as the alternate could help in retaining the economy as it is the country to have the highest number of cryptocurrency users in the African continent.
But knowing the government is sometimes bias when it comes to cryptocurrency matters, so all they do is  to banned it so that people will stop using it. However, based from OP’s post, I just hope that the Nigerian government will have a balance fair of system when it comes to crypto and CBDC. Now that the ban is now lifted, I hope that the citizens can freely utilize and choose with currency will suit for him and makes him more convenient to use.
1427  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your biggest obstacle to achieving financial freedom ? on: December 24, 2022, 01:58:29 PM
Could be a lot;
 - sources of income
 - capital for investment
 - lifestyle
 - goal

Even if we do the whole day working and earn huge money at the end of the day but it is out of our mind to save some and plan to invest, all of this money will just be lost into our hands too fast without seeing good results. It all goes to expenses.
Some people wanted to invest but have no money or other sources of income to support it which is really difficult and still, it ends up with nothing.

But honestly, it is all about our mindset. We can do better things and better ways if we have the mindset to achieve one thing that most of us don't have, they all have a plan but do nothing.
True. Even if you have all the means to make you financially stable, but your mindset is different, then you will never achieve financial freedom no matter how you tried. That is why proper mindset and goal focus is very much important because it will help you save and manage your money wisely so you can easily achieve financial stability in the end.
1428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: December 24, 2022, 12:44:06 PM

Or maybe he is just focusing on boxing to conquer his depression and other mental problems that will lead him in an unwanted situation, either way, I'm glad that he is looking sharp and back in business to face the heavy names. This maybe his first time but I know that he can do this properly because every champion was once a challenger too, so there's really a first time for everything. I just hope that there would be no problems along the way.

He should not be dealing with a problem about his personal issues, instead, he should focus on finding a strategy on how to beat Davis as we all know how sharp and smart Davis is in the ring. Ryan Garcia has not faced an elite boxer like Davis, so we will see if he really is a world-class boxer if he could beat Davis or at least give a very good challenge.
1429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 24, 2022, 11:58:14 AM
If I am not wrong with the record that I have seen online I think the Philippines is currently just Holding 1 belt, and that is non-other than Quadro Alas John Riel Casimero holding the WBO World Bantamweight Title that is why he badly needed a fight as long as he can still fight inside the ring, for me that Naoya Inoue fight is a risk for John Riel Casimero for now, I think he needs to get easy title fights for him to surely solidify him having multiple title belts,
<...>

Yes, in fact, this is true and the Philippines does not have a representative of their country in the rank of the holder of the boxing champion belt here you can see the current list of current world champions as of December 2022 https://champinon.info/

It was supposed to be Casimero who still hold a belt, unfortunately, because of his carelessness, he lose his belt via disqualification. Last time I remember, Nietes and Magsayo both losses their belt before Casimero losses his, so for now, we have no boxer that is currently a champion. No boxer in the PH that has an achievement close to Pacman, sorry to say that, but that's the reality.

The Philippines has zero world champions at the moment since Nonito Donaire, Johnreil Casimero, Rene Mark Cuarto and Mark Magsayo lost their belts this year. But there are title fights coming up for Filipinos and hopefully, upsets happen. I agree with Oasisman's statement earlier saying the lack of support is a huge factor. Many prospects are forced to travel to opponents' backyards and lost to questionable hometown decisions.

Champinon.info is new to me. And looking at their list, the Philippines has a world champion, Dave Apolinario. Unfortunately, the IBO belt is not a major belt. Many times the IBO has popular champions like GGG and Usyk because they just award their belts in order to promote their organization.

Despite on the lack of support, we still had champions before, so I guess that's not really a big hindrance. It's just that their time is over and IMO, their lose are very convincing, so there's no cheating whatsoever. If they want to be champion again, they need to come back strong next year, especially for Magsayo who is still young and has all the skills to improve to hold a belt again.
1430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Manny Pacquiao vs. DK Yoo on: December 24, 2022, 11:42:30 AM
What is better in the fight of Jake Paul?  He is fighting worn out MMA fighter pass their prime while Mayweather was already fighting  non-boxer opponent while Manny Pacquiao is still beating prime boxer like Thurman.  I wonder why being biased, it is ok for other to fight against non-boxer, or washed out fighter while it isn't for Manny.  It is an exhibition fight so expect things that is out of the regulars.

I agree with you on that, we should not compare the professional to exhibition fights. It's just like a show, if people will watch it either through live or PPV, that means they are supporting the event, and there's no need to criticize it. have you even guys remember when Mayweather fought a Wrestler, that one is for pure entertainment only.

1431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 24, 2022, 09:02:12 AM

Funny to say, but we might see one of them out from the Bulls jersey. I can understand your point with DeRozan as he is old, and he really wanted to have that ring but moving to Lakers?

I'm not sure if how he can help if the trade will be for Davis. Thinking about seeing him,WB and LeBron all
are players who need to hold the ball and create space to make a good basket. I can't see any good chemistry
playing them all together.

That would not help if it will be Davis that will be traded for him, Lakers are struggling without Davis, so you can tell that Davis is really the most important player on the team. If the trade will be on Westbrook, then for sure that will make the Lakers the championship team, and hopefully Westbrook will fit well with the Chicago Bulls.

Confirmed.. If no one will take that available 1k, you can add tha to mine.  Grin

Hey bro, sending you a PM. I will take that 1k of yours and I will put my bet on the Bay Area Dragon to win. This is just for fun, so we will have fun watching the PBA Finals. Also, I think it's better if we have a betting in our local too, like a games and rounds concept, it would be fun if one will host.

We only have two games later, what are your picks on these games?

The home teams are both heavy favorites, here is the betting spread.

Spurs vs Pelicans (-8.5)
Wizards vs Jazz (-7)

I will take the favorites, they are both good at home, so I'm confident that they will win and cover the spread. The pelicans have (12 - 4) home record while Jazz have (11 - 5 ) record. Might as well put a parlay on these two teams, Wizards had just broken their losing streak but it's a back to back game for them, so they might lose again. Also, I have over bet on the total of these two games.

Wow, I'm impressed with your prediction mate, you got the spread correct and also the total. Both are high-scoring games and the home team has covered the spread. So how about the games later, do you have some predictions, if you are on a hot streak, I don't like to miss tailing your picks.

@YuginKadoya, also congratulations on your win.

.....

My picks ;

Blazers ML and +4.5
OKC -2
Toronto ML and _+4.5
Clippers ML and +3.5

This season of NBA is just getting better and better right ? Pelicans finally woke up and got a win after 4 defeats in a row and that was a bit of karma right ? I mean , just stay humble , play your game , score points and let the stats speak for yourself instead of just showing off ( refer to Zion making that 180 wind mill dunk ).

Back to Bulls drama as LaVine wants to leave as quick as possible and tensions on the Bulls squad are heating up very fast in the last 3 days and I do hope the management will find a way to make the players focusing on play-offs and let the drama out of the court when they play basketball but it will be hard as fans are not happy at all. Sad

Now I can see the reason why the Bulls are struggling. They have a good lineup on paper but with this problem inside, it will definitely affect their chemistry as one of the star players are already wanting to leave the team. Well, if he wants to leave, that would not be easy, unless he will get traded which will not happen soon.
1436  Other / Off-topic / Re: Be The Judge... on: December 22, 2022, 09:26:25 PM
For me, it's not clear if this someone you know gambled all away the $198 on that Saturday morning or not, that's what confusing on the story. It could have not been escalated if it was being communicated clearly for both parties, I think both of them are in the wrong situation and I wish they pay the price of what they did on each other. Only at $198, they will end up killing each other, how cheap are those thugs.
Yes, the whole story remains to be unclear. Until the police finish with the investigation and found the truth, whoever that be that is in fault, he should be put in jail. Otherwise, both parties should be put in jail and learn their lesson. Just because of $198, the whole chaos has got even more worst and very damaging. Both have not been thinking well.

Two games only, so there are only a few games to analyze and I don't have to spend more time. So anyway, good luck to us, and hopefully we will have this good win tomorrow.
1438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Manny Pacquiao vs. DK Yoo on: December 22, 2022, 10:32:23 AM
helping poor people is not the only reason why you need to become a politician. there are more things you need to consider when you are in politics because you are guiding the future of your country. but in any case, pacquiao should be totally retiring from professional boxing bouts. great if he will arrange exhibition fights from time to time. but should not think of going active again. enjoy his retirement while he has no health issues.
We're all agreeing that he should retire and I guess these show matches are his words for his retirement. He's not going to take any longer professional fights and that's a sign of his retirement just like Floyd Mayweather.
But, at the same time, he's still making huge money if there will be some exhibition matches that are not for a charity cause. That will surely still him bag a lot of money because he's still that popular and now a living legend.
Making money would be the main target and its true that despite on being retired and on the time that they would be launching up some exhibition fights then they are really still been considered and thats the beauty
of being popular and legend on a certain sport where fans all over the world wouldn't really be forgetting on who you are and on the time that you do have some matches
then people would still simply tend to watch it out and purchase or having those ppv's or tickets on such venue.

That's why we call it an exhibition fight, they would not fight without benefiting from it, and the fact that they entertain the fans, means they are getting paid as well. Making money is just so easy for a popular icon like Manny Pacman, and whoever he fights next, whether he loses or wins, his popularity will still remain.

1440  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are the Whales Control bitcoin price? on: December 21, 2022, 09:58:27 PM
but if the whales owned 51% of bitcoin, can do it?

A "whale" can move the markets to a certain extent, but it doesn't give them overall control over the markets. Take note that even "whales" that attempt to manipulate markets can also lose money.

Also, no "whale" owns 51% of the total supply. Most of the wallets with huge bitcoin holdings(though definitely nothing close to 51%) are exchange cold wallets.

if happen, does decentralization not exist?

Bitcoin is proof of work, not proof of stake. So even if a single person held a huge chunk of Bitcoin, that wouldn't give him special powers over the protocol.

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/proof-stake-pos.asp

I guess that explains everything. Regardless of the amount of their possessions, they will never have the full control over the crypto prices. Everything in the market is still unpredictable so whales still end up with price predictions after all, like any other small investors here in the crypto market.
