1261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 18, 2023, 06:43:42 AM
It's not typical to see the Lakers struggle to make the playoffs as they have been a very dominant team in the past. However, we must accept the current reality and place our trust in LeBron and AD to lead this team to success. After all, they have already proven their greatness by winning a championship together.

This team has some star power with LeBron, who is currently considered the best player in the NBA and a future Hall of Famer. However, if we examine what's happening within the team, we can see that they are already facing challenges, particularly with injuries, especially Anthony Davis, who has a reputation for being injury-prone, whether we like it or not.

Last season was a disappointment for the Lakers, and this year presents an opportunity for them to bounce back. As I previously mentioned, Davis is essential to the team's success, and it's crucial that he stays healthy since he provides the consistency that the Lakers need to perform well.

I didn't watch the NBA Rising Star Challenge live, but I will watch the highlights so that I'm not late on the news. The most anticipated part of the weekend is the real All-Star game, featuring a matchup between Team Giannis and Team LeBron.

Although Team Giannis is the favorite, I think the West has more talent than the East, so I'm leaning towards Team LeBron. However, since it's not a serious game, it's hard to make predictions, so let's just enjoy the game with some friendly bets.

I wll also go with the Bucks -7.5 @1.95, it was reported that DeRozan is out in this game and so is Alex Caruso.
Suns vs Clippers - gonna be a good match up here, ML for Clippers for me, @1.93.

Parlay both my picks @3.71.
Congratulations bro, perfect night.

Finally I hit my picks for tonight's game, I stay away from the Wizards vs Timberwolves game and it was the right decision for me because I can't decide on that game.

Congrats to you as well almost perfect and for those who win tonight. At least we have a win before the All Star Break.

Nice parlay! A 2-game parlay is good enough to hit a decent profit with 3.71 odds. I think choosing the Clippers was the right decision because they were due for a win, and you were correct; they won the game without any problems.

Let's talk about the upcoming All-Star Game. We can check the schedules here.

1264  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: February 17, 2023, 11:16:56 AM
comparing their Boxing record, Donaire seems to have more advantage than Santiago. this will be an interesting match to watch, I'd like to see how Santiago will fair against someone who has more experience and has more advantage than him.
The only advantage Santiago has here is his age, LOL. Donaire is old, but like a fine wine, he still has that timing, and with his power, he can definitely KO his opponent. I have not seen the boxing highlights of Santiago, which is why I'm very confident that Donaire will win, but let's see if it will change my mind.

sorry if this might be a bit off-topic. it looks like they already have someone who is ready to take the fight in case one of the team decides to not continue with the match. from what I've read the reason Moloney's Management Bob Arum of "Top Rank promotions" has a problem with Donaire's Management "Probellum"(check here for the article).
That's the kind of politics that can destroy a potentially great fight. Of course, if both promoters do not agree, the fight is not going to happen.
1265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rejecting odd provider's limit on: February 17, 2023, 10:06:22 AM
Through limiting their user account, it could also mean limiting their bets and I think this is not new anymore  as casinos also set the maximum prize that they can only refund to their bettors. So if a single user has different accounts and all those are winning one after the other, that could really be a problem on part of the casinos. So casinos have to do their part too by looking the patterns on how they bet, aside from monitoring their email add and locate their IP address. That way, it’s possible that those users who have made various accounts will easily be tracked.

I see that even when a user's account is hit by a limit, players will not only be able to make bets with a small value but there are bookmakers who also give different odds to that player compared to odds for other players who don't get any limits, this is quite new for me but before bookmakers implement this they must have done an investigation of the account first, so all limits are made after getting a clear picture of their users' activities
Different odds? Come on, I don't think that happens in sports betting. Odds are the same for everyone, and a specific gambling site would always provide the same odds to avoid being abused through the arbitrage method. A limit is a limit; they can only limit the amount of bet you can make, but they cannot change the odds to give you a disadvantage. That's an obvious way of cheating, which I doubt is happening.
1266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 17, 2023, 09:18:44 AM
Meanwhile, we have TNT versus Meralco playing now, and the first half is over, with TNT already up by 14 points. Will Meralco make a comeback in the second half?

So far, TNT is still leading the game, and this could be a chance for Meralco to mount a comeback, especially now that Pogoy has sprained his ankle. They need to win the 3rd quarter and finish the job in the 4th quarter. TNT has too much offensive power, but what happened to Meralco's defensive prowess? They are known for being a good defensive team.

The Bolts had a little run in the 4th quarter, but they were already out of time. They won't make it this time. Although these teams are sister teams, there will be no "sagip Kapamilya" like what Ginebra did to the Magnolia Hotshots. TNT will continue their good winning streak, and with a good import and contributions from the locals, they will be championship contenders this conference.

Mikey Williams and Calvin Oftana are the two local leaders who scored 25 and 19 points, respectively
1267  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't have high expectations in the crypto world. on: February 16, 2023, 03:38:20 PM
Yeah, sure thing! Some people have made a ton of money with crypto, no doubt about it. But it is also important to remember that crypto can be a wild ride, with prices going up and down in a heartbeat. So if you are a beginner, getting your hopes up too high from the start could be a bad move. My advice is to do your homework and learn as much as you can about the risks and rewards before you invest. And don't treat crypto as a quick way to get rich - it is more of a long-term game. But remember, everything has its risks. No risk, no reward!

I guess having high expectations in crypto especially for beginners is not that bad actually since it can serve as their motivation to gain more knowledge and understanding about crypto, to be more patient and resilient about crypto. The only reason it becomes bad is that when these newbies start to assume that there is always huge profits in crypto, and that the chances of losing is very small. So they end up believing in lies because the fact is crypto has its higher chances of losing especially if you believe it’s a get-quick-rich scheme, and it could be life changing too once you put all your life savings in crypto and lose them all in the process.
1268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: February 16, 2023, 12:34:57 PM
Yes, we are in the majority in favor of Inoue winning by a way of TKO/KO in the late rounds, or if Stephen Fulton wants to engage, it might be an early night for him.
The likelihood of Inoue knocking out Fulton in the early rounds of the fight is higher than in the later rounds. Inoue has won most of his fights that ended in a knockout in less than 6 rounds, so if Fulton can't withstand Inoue's power early on, he may not last. While Fulton is a champion, I have yet to see a fighter who has made Inoue struggle in a fight, and I hope Fulton can provide a challenge in this one.
1269  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: February 16, 2023, 12:03:47 PM
I can see two reasons behind the wheelchair thing, it's either for marketing their match or for his case. I mean, rich people do this kind of stunt to help with the case if I am not mistaken.
That's the Superbowl and he knows that media will be there, why would his camp put him in a wheelchair even if his ankle is aching? As a boxing champion, they knew it will be a big scoop to the media and there will be a lot of speculations about it which means he will be in the trend.
Now, they are proving it doesn't hurt with a dancing clip. His PR might really be good at manipulating the media.  Cheesy Some rich personality should hire him.

Most likely, it's just a marketing stunt. If that's his mentality, I like Davis for wanting to see a sold-out crowd. Both fighters are popular, so it's expected that fans will watch, but he still wants to maximize their income as big fights like this don't happen all the time. It's best to take advantage of these opportunities.

They can do whatever they want, but they have to ensure that this fight will not be postponed or, worse, canceled. Fans have been eagerly waiting for this fight, even if it's still months away, so they better execute their marketing plans properly and have no reason to not make it happen.
1270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Know your limit on: February 16, 2023, 09:50:19 AM
You're not responsible for his actions, nor are you obligated to lend him money. If you do, you may also consider them lost. You warned him against spending all his money and taking a loan, but he chose to ignore you. We've already seen numerous threads asking whether taking a loan to buy Bitcoin is a good idea or not, and I'm pretty sure your friend is not the only one who's gotten themselves into such a mess. Never invest more than you can afford, and never take anything for granted. You may be fired, made redundant, have your salary delayed, or experience anything else that you can't currently imagine.
True. Anyone who decides to invest should take responsibility of his own action and should be ready to face the possible consequences if ever his investment fails. That is why one should only invest at its own risk. But it seems your friend is not aware of the risks that is why he’s struggling right now. However, as a friend, it’s your decision if you will lend him him some money or not, but you should know that if you keep on providing for him, he will never learn his lesson and he will never be responsible of his own decision.
1271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Choosing between your relationship and gambling. on: February 15, 2023, 10:00:04 PM
Why does she care so much? A year sounds like a very quick engagement too but what does she want him to do with the money instead?

If he had no other use for the money, gambling with it might not be too bad a thing if he's got a good paying job anyway. Taking himself away from gambling too would be much healthier than having someone else make him do it.

It sounds like she's in it mostly for the money (that could just be how you've worded it but it does sounds like she's a problem).
Not the type of girl that is a wife material. Although I can understand her because she’s just being overprotective with your cousin, but the way she deal with it is the problem now. I would actually want to advise that staying away from this girl is the best thing to do for your cousin. Otherwise, he will live like hell in the future if he continue his relationship with this girl because obviously, this girl just want to manipulate your cousin’s decision not just into gambling but maybe in a lot of matters in the future.
1272  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chasing losses - Double down bet or Bet twice? on: February 15, 2023, 09:40:20 PM
I always have a dilemma when it comes to chasing losses in gambling. When I’m in the good mood, I preferred betting using the same amount multiple times until I hit a winning streak to recover my lose but when I’m in bad mood, I usually increase my bet size equals to my total lose so that I can recover quickly.

What do you typically do when you are on chasing loss situation?
Well, it depends on my available bankroll amount. If I have some money to spare with, chasing some losses and even betting twice the amount is possible so you can recover your loss quickly, but if you have only small balance available, then it’s better to stay on minimal amount until you recover your losses. But accept the fact that once you continue to bet, you are allowing yourself to lose more and eventually give the edge to the casino house.
1273  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto Currency trading without knowledge on: February 15, 2023, 09:17:46 PM
Regardless of the approach you choose, it's important to understand that there is no guarantee of profit and that investing in cryptocurrencies involves a significant degree of risk. Before making any investment decisions, it's important to conduct thorough research and seek advice from a qualified professional.
When ever we talk about the risk involved in cryptocurrency trading, we sometimes make it look as if crypto is the only arm of investment that carries risk with it.
One thing that is sure is that everything that involves making money carries some level of risk with it, and crypto trading is no different.

No body trades Forex without first learning about the rudiments in trading Forex, like wise it is with crypto trading, like the saying goes, not preparing is preparing to fail, not taking time to learn simply means learning to throw away your money, so it is only foolish to jump into trading without any knowledge of how trading works, is it even possible?
Where is the person going to start from.?.
Trading has its own inevitable risks so if you trade without prior knowledge and skills, then the more that you will lose eventually in the process. Same with investing, once you invest without understanding it in the first place, then it will surely never work out and will only end in failure and losses. Maybe for some beginners in trading, they could get some beginner’s luck but they will never be consistently profitable and expect decent amount of returns when trading. So crypto trading without knowledge and skills is useless.
1274  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto aid for Turkey exceeds $4.5M in one week on: February 15, 2023, 08:50:55 PM
Quote
After three significant earthquakes struck Turkey, a Turkish singer Haluk Levent persuaded the country’s financial watchdog (MASAK) to allow collecting crypto donations, which is currently illegal in the country.

MASAK allowed three crypto wallets to collect donations for a week. Wallets belong to Levent, who publishes all significant contributions and expenses on his Twitter account.
Let's see how it's going to be the approach of the government towards cryptocurrencies once this crisis is solved. The donations might have some impact on the views of government, after all, cryptos are being an useful tool to help turkish citizens and authorities may want to be thankful for that, finally accepting the positive potential they can have in a society, including during crisis times like the one Turkey is suffering right now.
Probably, after this sad event, the government will start taking some research about bitcoin and start consider its positive side, so hopefully the government will be more open about bitcoin and cryptocurrency and consider legalizing it in the future. With the help of crypto in times of calamity, at least they should be thankful that these crypto exist.
1275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Teaching children Bitcoin is not in vain on: February 15, 2023, 08:23:13 PM
I think that Bitcoin is good to be known from youthful age.
maybe it will be better when the child can manage his finances. I mean, when a child is given money with a specific nominal value, he can control how the money is used. that's a good time to teach Bitcoin to kids.
we don't know what the right age is for it. and maybe in countries that have legalized Bitcoin, are there any subjects in certain classes that might touch on discussions related to digital currency?
Once the child is given his own allowance, he should be taught about saving his extra money, and it could be the thought of saving bitcoin can also be introduce. So that when he mature, everything he learned while he was still a child will also be brought and consider when the time that he wants to explore about bitcoin and all it’s possible opportunities. However, he should be knowledgeable about bitcoin before he will try to invest in bitcoin for his own good.
1276  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When to sell bitcoin before the next bear market starts? on: February 15, 2023, 07:58:34 PM
I'm not sure if someone has already reported this thread to move to trading discussion or not, but it should be worth there. [I have reported it].

I don't expect bear market during 2023 and 2024, it should be optimistic to expect bull market to come in these two years to 2025. There are good cycles to get positive trends and it's much more important for me to get lots of bitcoins now instead of thinking about bears that market. It's fine if you and some other users have doubts, but I wouldn't sell it now even if correction could be made.
We can’t really tell exactly as to when is the best time to sell but I have a good sense that this is not going to happen this year or probably next year, but if even bitcoin halving happens, I think then I would take some time to sell or when the price of new ATH has been achieved. For now, I think DCA is the best time to do while the price is still low.
1277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Helped my neighbor to purchase some Bitcoins on: February 14, 2023, 09:40:25 PM
It's great that the op mentioned the high risk of investing in Bitcoin and importance of being ready for long-term holding. It's also good that the money was withdrawn from the exchange, and the new investor now knows the rule of 'not your keys, not your coins'.
I hope the part about risks didn't sound like there's a guarantee that long-term holding will bring profits, though, because there isn't. We can believe that Bitcoin will recover, but history doesn't always repeat itself, and nobody knows what the future really holds.
Op did a great job really by informing his neighbor first about the risks involved when investing into bitcoin. But I think it seems that his neighbor was quite aggressive to invest in bitcoin because he eventually purchased a portion of bitcoin even when he has not made a thorough research about it. I just hope that he won’t blame OP in the future if ever his investment will not work well because we all know bitcoin investment is not all about profits. Sometimes you have to endure some losses at first and when you have overcome all of those, eventually you will learn on how to invest for profits by hodling it long term and never get bothered by price drops.
1278  Economy / Economics / Re: Can one achieve financial independence through crypto currency? on: February 13, 2023, 09:56:46 PM
The popularity of crypto currencies has been on the rise in recent years and many people are drawn to them as a means to achieveing goal of financial freedom.
Additionally, the decentralization and global nature of crypto currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum and others, have made them an attractive option for those who want to take control their financial future and want to avoid traditional banks and financial institutions. They can also provide hedge against inflation and currency devaluation.

Given these factors, the dream of financial freedom can come true by using crypto currency?
Yes, because crypto investment is life changing. But success will never come to those who only enter the crypto market and then leave when they start losing. Of course, no one becomes successful if you quit. However, for those who keep on struggling with crypto investment and tries to be resilient in every unsuccessful days, and continue to venture the crypto market despite of their mistakes and losses, those were the ones who succeeded in the end. So it’s a fact that crypto can achieve financial independence, but not everyone are given the chance and luck to achieve it.
1279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins to HODL on: February 11, 2023, 12:55:52 PM
I still have a lot of USDT in my wallet, I already have ROSE, NFTb, TRX, AXS. My question is any other altcoins that I have missed or should check out?
Holding a lot of USDT is not considered as investment, I presume you will use your USDT to accumulate altcoins, right?

Well, all I can suggest is just focus on the major altcoins, they are down now due to the bearish market in overall, but eventually once the bull market starts and bitcoin breaks its ATH, eventually the altcoins will follow and will also have their own run, and when that happens, the major altcoins will always lead the way.

just check here - https://coinmarketcap.com/
1280  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 11, 2023, 12:10:12 PM
We’ll find out right after the all star break. Most of the analysts seem to agree that it will be Craig. It was nice to see Booker back in action tonight against the Pacers. He helped them get the win with a pretty balanced scoring night from Booker/Ayton/Paul. They might already be making an effort to share the ball more evenly to set an example for when KD hits the court. It’ll be interesting to see the shot distribution.
Regarding the All-Star, have you sniffed some news about what will happen since Kyrie and KD were traded to the West? Will there be changes in the roster or will it just be the same as Lebron and Giannis will pick their own roster? I am just curious.  Cheesy

I guess it will all be an isolation play when they hand KD the ball and Booker will be on the play style with Ayton and CP3. There will be a lot of adjustments that they need to polish as this will be the first they will have two assassins in both mid-range and outside shots. Will be looking forward at seeing them rotating the ball more.

Here's the information about the upcoming all-star game.
https://www.espn.ph/nba/story/_/id/35107493/nba-all-star-game-2023-location-schedule-rosters-news-more

Based on my understanding, there's an Eastern team and a Western team in which Giannis and Lebron are the captains respectively.
So from the name of the teams itself, it's the battle of the best in the West and the East, and since Irving was already transferred to the West, he should play in the West and his slot will be replaced in the East. The same goes with other players that are traded from West to East or vice versa.

Also, Durant will not play because he is recovering from injury.
