1401  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Factors that contribute to form addictive gambling. on: January 04, 2023, 08:45:09 PM
Casinos are setup as mazes to try and keep you in them. They also have women dressed scantily clad and a lack of clocks. These things all contribute to people spending more time in casinos than they might have otherwise. It’s the name of the game… I’m not sure places can be held accountable for these sorts of practices though. It’s pretty commonly known these sorts of things are in play.
Yes. These are just part of the game and strategies of the casino. Even with free alcohol drinks, a lot of casinos are practicing it to attract more customers and make them stay longer to so they can gamble more and even spend money more than their allocated money for gambling. And with all the gorgeous ladies serving the players, I guess that’s more tempting and hard to resist on the part of the gamblers.
1402  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto (Bitcoin) and children personal Finance Education on: January 03, 2023, 09:59:07 PM
OP. Good start. I am a parent myself, and while the child receiving pocket money does not understand its value and spends it on all sorts of crap, as soon as he grows up, I will certainly begin to tell and show materials about Bitcoin. Now that my child has his childhood, I believe that this is its greatest value, and I do not prevent him from enjoying it. In life, everything should come gradually. As he grows up, he will understand, of course with our help, that it is time to think about the future. But I agree with you that parents can help the future of children by starting today to buy bitcoins in a wallet created for them. However, it is reasonable to do this regularly if the family has no other material needs and there is money that can be saved.
Yes. If you have extra money to invest, investing in bitcoin could be a great option and then let your child learn from it through observation and application later on. But of course, I would only do this when my child is already mature enough that can easily understand about investments. Otherwise, forcing him to learn about bitcoin when he’s still in a playtime age, that would make him deprived from his own interests. While financial education is better when taught at an early age, but I also think it also depends on the knowledge level and interest of the child so that he can grasp better understanding from bitcoin investment.
1403  Economy / Economics / Re: Use your money wisely. Invest or Deposit ? on: January 03, 2023, 09:30:12 PM
Now you have $100,000 in your account, pure savings, and you don't need this amount of money to cover your daily expenses. Obviously it's good/free money to use at will. Let's say if you deposit the money into a bank and the annual interst rate is 3%, you will get a steady interest income year by year. If you use this money to buy Bitcoin, let's say the BTC drops to $17,000, you'll buy less than 6 Bitcoins. In the long run, what would you do with this money ? And why ?
The annual interest in banks are too low, it's like you're letting your money sleep without gaining anything. Well, it's good to have savings but that's huge to just entrust to bank, they're the only one benefiting to your money by giving loans to their borrowers. Anyway, if i'm in such situation having $100k savings, I will invest the money in Bitcoin and gold and leave 10% in bank for emergency. Investing is always the wise decision but remember to only invest in things you have knowledge with and you're aware of the function.
I would rather invest my money too than to let the bank alone benefit from my hard-earned money. Maybe I will leave 20% in the bank so that in times I run out of cash for my allowance or for emergency funds, I can easily withdraw some amount. And then the remaining 80% will be used to invest in bitcoin, gold, and establish a local business that will also get high demand from its consumers. But the higher allocation is for bitcoin, as it’s the most profitable one yet the most risky to take. With patience and resilience, success will never be too hard to achieve.
1404  Economy / Economics / Re: The Taste of an Economic Downturn on: January 02, 2023, 09:59:19 PM
I wonder how ordinary people around the world felt the worsening economic situation in their respective countries. I know that although many are very much aware of the soaring inflation, nothing has changed much in their day to day lives. I can observe that in some families. They seem oblivious of how the prices of basic goods and services are rising in double digits.

From my household, however, we can literally taste the economic downturn. It feels odd and sad that we have to sacrifice taste in order to somehow cushion the impact of the economic problems my country is facing. Onion here is already hitting $12.57 a kilo. Depending on the size, that's about $0.63 apiece. Cooking an ordinary dish for a small family requires a bulb or two. During this holiday season especially, we normally need tens of onions. That's not affordable anymore. So we had to greatly reduce the use of onions and try not to care about how the dish would turn out. On ordinary days, onions are even removed from the ingredients.

I had to share this here because it feels like the economic situation has already affected the most basic need of everybody. It seems insignificant because it's only a spice, but I thought that if the economic situation is already affecting everybody's taste buds, it could mean things are getting pretty serious.

I wonder, especially in other countries, how drastic is the change in your daily life that's brought about by this economic downturn?
A lot of changes have been happening since the start of pandemic and until now that the inflation has become uncontrolled already. Yes, even spices here in our country have been consistently increasing its prices too so we just need to adjust our taste buds, otherwise we won’t be adding spices anymore, lol. However, there are certain times too that those prices have been controlled but with the holiday season that we have recently faced, it even boost the rising of prices for all our basic necessities and even in services.
1405  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia on: January 02, 2023, 09:38:30 PM
We are looking at a fight where both fighters have been undefeated and both hold several knockout wins, so everything can happen. This will be a tough fight for both as each fighter will try to keep their status and go forward undefeated. I'm holding my grudge against this one and probably will not bet on this fight.
This fight is will be a record breaking for both of the fighters as they have been undefeated in their individual fights. But I’m also seeing myself not to bet for this one too as it makes me hard to decide on where to favor as both of them have been showing excellent performances when it comes to the ring. I just hope at the end of the day, whoever will stay undefeated, will always remain feet off on the ground as it’s one thing that we would want to see from a world class boxer.
1406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 31, 2022, 03:41:07 PM

Change Topic I have seen the play of the Golden State Warriors right now and for me, they are a complete team now, they got high offensive players that are consistent on the deep, players that have high IQ and defensive-oriented players, and new players of the Warriors I think some are showing their potentials in their games were Stephen Curry is absence, and this is Ty Jerome and Donte DiVincenzo for me these two are a catch for the Warriors, Ty Jerome has a potential to be a great Shooting Guard, While DiVincenzo is an all-rounder that can steal the ball and both have adapted the Warriors way in getting passes and giving great passes incorporate with the play of the Warriors,

They are very impressive on their recent wins at home, without Curry, they still manage to win. Also, there was one game where Thompson rested, they still win, that's really impressive. however, I'm concerned about their road record, because as good as they are at their home, they are playing worst when they are on the road.

Yes, their road record is very disappointing, that's why I'm just happy when they are playing at home as their winning rate is very high.
These are their stats. https://clutchpoints.com/sports/nba/golden-state-warriors/records

Quote
2022-23 RECORD SPLITS
CATEGORY         WINS   LOSSES   WIN %
Home Games   16      2            88.9
Road Games   3      16            15.8

It's almost the opposite of their home record, that's what we don't see. So you are right, they need to fix this problem too.
1407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: December 31, 2022, 02:41:55 PM
I'll be on the Gin kings side this upcoming game 3, I believe that they will show good adjustment to win the game.
Basketball is a game of adjustments.
You lose, you will watch the whole game and then adjust. Right now, it's harder to know who will win in Game 3 TBH. I want to bet on Ginebra on this one, but the Dragons are also capable in defeating them. Ginebra will win if they will help Brownlee on offense because that's their problem in Game 2. No help from others offensively.

Ginebra had a big win in game 1, so there's no need to doubt them in game 3. the series is still tied, regardless on how these teams have won or even the series. Yes, Ginebra could probably win game 3, but if they will lose, they still have game 4 to even the series, so just bet on this team and support them by cheering on them.
There should no be doubt with Ginebra, as they prove a lot of things already but in this finals many are hesitant simply because Ginebra is playing against a better team and that's the biggest challenge so far. Its hard to place a bet in game 3 but I think Bay Area have a better momentum here and probably they will take Game 3 while Ginebra will bounce back in game 4 like they always do, I'm placing some local bet for Bay Area in game 3, let's see if its a good decision or not.
Hesitation is always part of gambling, it's normal. After the game 1 win of the Ginebra, we thought that they will just easily win the series because non only they beat the Bay Area in game 1 but they also beat them during the regular season, so it's 2-0, but after game 2, we are now losing our faith on Ginebra because they are outplayed in game 2, come on guys, it's just one game, the series is still tied.
1408  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 31, 2022, 01:52:14 PM
Casimero made a mistake before but I am sure he wants his title back. Having more fights in a year will not be the solution. He needs a match with higher boxer seeds to gain the rankings.

Title of becoming a champion again, yes of course. However, it will not be an easy journey for him as he hasn't challenged the champion of this new weight class he is in. His first win was a great statement that he still has the power, and with that, I believe he will be a very dangerous challenger, I hope Inoue will also move up.
1409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: December 31, 2022, 12:37:24 PM
My picks for tonight.

Milwaukee Bucks (-6.5) vs Minnesota Timberwolves = Milwaukee Bucks Win 1,83 Odds.

Milwaukee Bucks (-1.5) vs Minnesota Timberwolves = First Quarter Win 1,78 Odds.

Good luck guys.

Milwaukee's first half of the game was bad. My first quarter bet also lost. They returned to the game in the second half and won the game.

Happy New Year Smiley

They manage to win the game and cover the spread, their 3rd quarter big run is just solid, Wolves were not able to have a big run anymore to beat them. I also won this game, I had the Bucks at -6.5, I got it early so the spread was good, congrats to the winners, til tomorrow.

1411  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 30, 2022, 07:36:52 PM
^^ 4 fights per year might be too much for Casimero or any boxer, he is not getting any younger, so he needs to be selective on how he is going to fight next in his new division.

And probably he is not rated because his fight with Akaho is not sanctioned by any boxing organizations, so he is not recognized with that win. So although the fight was turn from NC to KO in his record, it doesn't have any bearing. That's why we said that he need to climb back the hard way again, just like what he did when he become a champion in 118 lbs. He went to title eliminator, Ricardo Franco for the interim belt, defend it against Cesar Ramirez in the Philippines then beat Zolani Tete for the regular belt. So I think he can do it again in super bantamweight.
4 fights?  Grin
That's exhausting and there's not much room for preparation. Maybe 3 fights per year could be done and he needs perfect wins to be eligible for a championship win.
It is also the reason why he badly needs that win against Akaho. Imagine how much frustration was done by that in his camp after the decision made by the judges about the "no contest". But now it's cleared, he won that fight, no doubt, perhaps WBO could prepare him for a good match with a higher-ranking boxer in their weight class. I think he does deserve it too and we want to see how good he is when faced with a stronger fighter.

That's quite funny, you know.

Now, I know that Casimero needed to win some few more fights so that his name will go up in the ladder much faster but having 4 fights in a year? That's quite absurd, I reckon because we only have 12 months per year, so that means that Casimero should fight every 3 months to have 4 bouts in a year. I don't think that any boxer can handle that much stress, the world of boxing is not a joke after that just needed a small time to prepare. And after every fight, a boxer needed a few weeks to rest, so that leaves them more or less 2 months to prepare for the next bout.
1412  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If your friend would tell you this... on: December 30, 2022, 07:08:58 PM
~snip~
That's too risky and for sure that there is no guarantee that you will win, and it is a bit of luck if you ever won. The question is if you are really an experienced gambler and have tactics for winning the game. Also, what if you lose the money? What would be your excuse?

Eventually the person will lose the money, and the friend.

It's a no win situation, I wouldn't do that at all.

Everyone should gamble whatever they want, without involving other people, that's just asking for trouble.
Gambling is all about losing, so we should not expect for our capital to double or triple even if we have the skills in gambling. Gambling offers no guarantee for money making, because it’s always designed for an entertainment, and not the other way around. So if that friend insists to gamble that huge amount, I will always do my best to win but he should also be aware that in gambling there’s always inevitable losses especially if the games are giving high edge to the house.

I bet his friend already knew the consequence and that losses is inevitable when it comes to gambling, but despite knowing those said facts, his friend still chose to trust him and let him play with those 10k bitcoin with the hopes that somehow it will double or tripe at the end of the day, although the chances are just slim but never know, he and his friend might be lucky in that day.

But if it's me, I'd politely decline. Playing with 10k worth of bitcoins is too much for me to handle especially after the fact that those coins are just trusted to me and the friendship is much more important as I'm sure if those 10k BTC lost, then it's safe to assume that our friendship will be too.
1413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Caleb Plant vs David Benavidez on: December 30, 2022, 06:24:02 PM

Canelo will most likely take Plant if he wins. If Benavidez wins and Canelo can't see any weakness then he is likely to move up and take a rematch with Bivol. Although earlier, Canelo already mentioned that a Bivol rematch is his priority. Pretty gutsy but I like it rather than choosing soft oppositions.

I think whoever wins this fight would interest Canelo, that if they will agree to fight him. Another tuneup fight before getting into a rematch on a fighter that has defeated him, and I'm pretty sure that it will happen one day, I'm just not sure if canelo will be able to beat Bivol.
Canelo will take whoever will win if the negotiations between two camps will materialize, it's a good tuneup like what you said before moving up again and chase a rematch from Bivol. We witness how he suffered from bivol, the guy have the speed and the capability to adjust each time Canelo try to box him and dominate.

I like to see Canelo trying his best to beat Bivol, but that would be a big challenge to him. He should take the winner of this upcoming fight before moving back and face Bivol in the upper division.

I'm thinking the opposite thing, Canelo is taking less priority whoever wins between Plant and Benavidez because Canelo has already set his eyes towards Bivol and make a comeback after that defeat that he experienced in the hands of a Russian boxer. And before that rematch, it has been said that Canelo will take a tune-up first because he just came back from a surgery. And I think Canelo is not yet due to a mandatory fight, that's why the winner of this bout will have to wait.
1414  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: December 30, 2022, 05:53:53 PM
Yes this is what he must do for now he find and trained hard for a new strategy to defeat Davis as we all know that Davis once he will have a good time and make those punches for sure he is unstoppable.  And that must be Garcia will look at, but anyways for me Garcia can do that and have a good chance of winning but if he can not find a good angle and a good strategy then it's all for Davis.
Garcia is a very stubborn guy, I like his determination, of course he is still young but in spite of this he has already managed to achieve a lot and he has good speed and a good punch. For him, this fight can be called a chance to declare himself at the highest level, but Tank is too difficult an opponent, and he is a clear favorite in this fight. It will be interesting to watch this fight, but I do not expect a miracle, I think that Tank will knock out Garcia.

Yup, If Ryan will take Tank down, he will climb to the next level of his career, but I doubt Tank will give him that easy access, Tank will do
everything not to give the young fella that chance.

Both are still young, though Tank has the experience fighting quality opponents are compare to Ryan. And that is why he keeps on calling Tank because he knows he will go on the next level if he beats him specially by a knockout.

But we know that inside this sport, upset is always possible. We will expect an entertaining exchange of punches from these two gentlemen,

I'm assuming to see a good KO finished whoever wins. Both deserve to earn the praise for each fan who will support this fight.

Yes, as I have said, knockout will be the best bet for this fight. But has the same devastating power, it's just the matter on who will be the fastest to hit the home run punch.

In my own opinion I think Tank Davis will be the favorite here as I know how tough, how he move, how he manage his opponent inside the ring. Yes they are both young but the experience will matter as I think. But tank Davis will not much very confident as we all know that they have the same goal which is to win this match. So without a doubt Garcia will prepare a lot of strategy and good condition of the body .

Of course experience matters, having that factor is already an advantage towards the opposite camp because Ryan Garcia is not that well experienced compared to Tank. But they shouldn't be complacent about it because even if Ryan doesn't have the experience advantage, he got the height and reach which will give Tank some struggles to give his KO punch. Both of them will prepare heavily, Ryan Garcia already committed that he will pass with his tune-up fight to prepare solely for Tank.

About the sportsbookies, I think Tank Davis will be listed as the favorite, although, his odds is just slightly different from the underdog, Ryan Garcia.
1415  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: December 30, 2022, 03:49:41 PM
bumubulosok nga ang Cavs sa fourth quarter with that 10-0 run para kunin ulit yong kalamangan.

1416  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 30, 2022, 02:58:28 PM
How about the Nets winning 10 straight. That seemed like a pipe dream a few weeks ago. It seems like they’re starting to get it figured out. I’m glad because KD is too good to not get another chance in the Finals. I hope this is his year because I’m not sure what his future will look like. He seems to be setting himself up to be a bit of a journeyman in his final years in the league.
Looks like Uncle Drew is on a mission, when he comeback from the Nets it's like they are an upgraded version and Durant was healthy too along with Simmons. Yeah, more like the years of KD in the league is getting near and before he retires I think getting a ring is a thing for him once again.

Uncle Drew is indeed on a mission and this time he will be doing his best in the name of his daughter, and if I recall it correctly, Kyrie Irving said and promised to his daughter that he will straighten up and will be back much stronger this season. So far, as we can see, it's clear enough that he is playing impressively almost every game. Durant wasn't that loaded because he knows that Irving is also doing his best, and there's Ben Simmons who's also helping them and laying up the table for them.
1417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bloody Year 2022 coming to End on: December 29, 2022, 08:37:56 AM
Well, that's the good thing about this year and it's about to end and we'll just leave all of those fiascos for this year.

But I doubt it that they're the last ones that we'll see, there will be for more and that is just teaching that we should be more careful where we keep our funds.

Overall the lessons are just the same on how we're going to keep it.
Good thing this year will come to an end but I believe there will be a lot more surprises in the coming year ahead, both positive and negative. And despite all the controversies and scandalous events that made this year, one thing made me realized that there’s nowhere safe to invest other than bitcoin. And there’s no reason anymore to trust centralized exchanges, because they are all set to steal and own our funds more than we know. Manage your own coin, and save it in your own hardware wallet as not your key, not your coins.
1418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Responsible gambling on: December 29, 2022, 08:02:24 AM

For me this has been working for quite some time and it was a way I found to prevent me from throwing money that I need away.
Any of you guys uses the responsible gambling feature? If so, what do you think about it? Is it helpful or does it only gives you a sense of control

It's good that you are aware of your being a compulsive gambler and have taken a step to prevent yourself from getting worse others will just ignore it and deny that they are a compulsive gambler when they are spending more than they can, I don't have it yet it's not yet time I can still manage, I've been through a lot and my resolution to think about my losses in the past are the ones that are helping me control my urge to spend more than I can spend.
Those with bad habits of spending a lot should not be shy to have it, it will not make you a weak person by having it.
I know I am not a compulsive gambler too and I only gamble for fun, but admit it or not, there are some instances that we become out of control and just gamble whatever amount we have. So with that, I think responsible gambling feature is still a must for all gamblers since it will guide us and help us avoid unnecessary bets that will put us into more losing. Anyway, thanks OP for the info. I will surely love to hear more about it.
1419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What would be an ideal KYC solution? on: December 29, 2022, 07:28:24 AM
Hey guys,

With all the KYC talk lately I wanted to open up a thread and ask about your opinion.

The side of the user:
- Prefers no KYC
- Prefers anon coins as a payment platform
- If a KYC is triggered, they want to trust the brand with their documents

The side of the casino:
- Regulators are asking them to do KYC, but they need to find a balance on when it's triggered. E.g. to keep a portion of the user happy, they can rise the trigger to a certain amount.
- They are tied to a payment provider, either because of the license or CMS, and can offer only a certain portion of cryptocurrency.
- Users are abusing them if there's absolutely no KYC matrix in the system.

What would, in your opinion, be the best balance here?

Efialtis from BTCGosu mentioned that some of the casino managers make exceptions, and I can imagine how that's possible, but I'm curious in what you would like to see there.

Regarding KYC: Their management confirmed with me personally that they would not enforce KYC. (Same old story, we could of course argue about that just like with any curacao licensed crypto casino) - the good news is when I have personal confirmation of such a statement, then I am putting a "No" and if they break their word at any point of time, I would take action. That is how I have always been handling this topic and how I will continue doing it.

Dude, KYC is simply a way for the godamned government put their hands on whats not theirs. Basically, there are no solutions. Going through the KyC  is a cumbersome process not only for players but also for casinos. IMO, casinos should be tring to find ways of helping customers avoiding the KYC but unfortunately, casinos are stuck with compliance and KYC is a demand to which if they not follow, their business will suffer the consequences
True. If casinos fail from KYC compliance, then they will also be in danger and might lose their license due to non-compliance. So both casinos and players are obligated to do so when it comes to KYC verification as it’s an order coming from the gambling regulatory boards. Just as reputable casinos are seriously asking us for our personal information details, so they can give us a fair play and a safeguarded environment, then we also have to do in return by trusting them that they will not be disclosing and become responsible on keeping our personal information safe and secured.
1420  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Japan fall behind in the crypto industry ? on: December 29, 2022, 07:03:53 AM
They're not too loud doesn't mean they're lagging, as I know japan has been a pretty open country to crypto for a long time but what I don't like about them is the government taxing relatively high who earn in crypto. But you're right about not having too much fuss, a lot of projects come from Korea, but I also hardly see any projects with Japanese developers behind.
Recently, Binance has officially entered the Japanese market with the acquisition of sakura exchange, hoping that binance can promote the crypto industry to become stronger in Japan.
Yes, with the acquisition of Japan’s Sakura exchange, Binance looks to offer blockchain solutions along with crypto exchange services in Japan. Thus, making Japan more crypto based country that will only set to happen if the Japanese government and Bank of Japan will align with Binance programs. But I believed crypto has been already exposed in Japan, as this is a crypto friendly country, but it’s only at the present that blockchain technology will come to conquer Japan.
