1921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Are all BTC addresses really unique? on: November 15, 2019, 03:40:38 PM
I really don't follow your comment.

I'm sorry if I wasn't able to convince you here.

Not reusing addresses is good for privacy, but it doesn't do anything for your security or protect against your keys being compromised.

Exactly why not? I'm asking this because if even 10s of 1000s of ASICs won't be able to generate even a single address' private key that is already over the network, then considering that we don't reuse an address we have used before in a wallet and choose a different address to receive/send coins, won't it be a different private key that is attached to that new address? Even if the older one gets compromised, how will the new address be hacked and the coins be removed from the same unless the wallet itself gets compromised? What if I use different wallets to use each new address from a different wallet itself at a time?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we don't use more than single address not because we want to prove it that it's ours, but because a used address doesn't get charged higher fees compared to a newly generated one?
The only difference in fee between addresses is if you are using legacy, nested SegWit, or native SegWit. There is no difference in fee whether it's the first transaction from a new address or the ten thousandth transaction from a 10 year old address.

So you mean to say that if I use a new native SegWit over an old native SegWit which already had so many inputs, I'll be charged the same on both the addresses when I try to send a transaction to an address that I keep same in both?
1922  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: A new take on "hardware" wallets? on: November 15, 2019, 03:29:39 PM
There are a lot of things on that blog post which they are painting as an advantage to their wallet which I see as distinct disadvantages. I don't want my seed stored online, even if it is split in to "shards", and I definitely don't want it stored by a third party on my behalf and sent over a likely unencrypted email. This is less secure, not more, as they seem to be suggesting.

Heck, yeah that email part. How did I forget!
I wanted to ask this that why are they making this look like an advantage while sending the second part of that "shard" on our email? No freaking email service is too secure to handle ongoing hacks (not even Gmail, in fact I see Gmail to be worst hit among others) and they didn't find any other way except email to send it to us? That's shit!

Quote
Biometrics are very poorly secure, and shouldn't be used.

Outdated you mean?

Quote
The Yubikey is simply the decryption key. The encrypted and decrypted private keys are still stored on the mobile device, and so are accessible by malware, as opposed to a hardware wallet where the keys never leave the secure element.

Mobility isn't an issue that needed solved like they have made it out to be, since most hardware wallets are mobile compatible.

I believe they are trying to make it look like an issue which isn't the issue at all. They've focused on smartphones but forgot that such things are prone to hacks and malicious softwares take place every now and then considering a long list of highly secured apps (previously considered) which are now removed from Google play store. They want to use the security features given in a smartphone; well, where the hell can I find a smartphone without any problems?

Quote
It says the wallet is linked to an exchange. Do you have to undergo KYC to use it? Massive privacy invasion if you do, and the risk of funds being locked by unannounced KYC requirements if you don't.

Just like you, I'm also not interested in using their exchange because if they are to keep one part of my private key and then just shut down their services, will I ever be able to find my coins if they decide to scam? I don't think they, or anyone here has the right to keep or know even 1/10th of how my address' private key looks.
1923  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: A new take on "hardware" wallets? on: November 15, 2019, 11:25:40 AM
Great article TBH, but one thing is for sure that these guys were endorsing Yubikey more over Evercoin and it means that we surely need Yubikey's hardware in order to keep our funds safe in that wallet.
The website says the Yubikey is actually "optional"... so it seems it is just "added" security on top of whatever the app itself provides? Huh
Hardware Security by YubiKey (optional)

Even if it is optional, don't you think that at core level, their wallet app is truly dependent on Yubikey to be called as one of the safest wallets? Tell me, would you use it without that Yubikey when they're themselves asking us to buy a Yubikey hardware and attach it in their wallet for safety purposes?

Quote
Having no passphrase or seed at all doesn't really makes sense IMHO because that's what we can even keep stored in an offline PC, a piece of paper, can even dig it into a metal and store it somewhere
They do... it's just that "shard" thing... It sounds like it is essentially a 2of2 "Shamir Secret Sharing" type scheme... you get 1 shard, they store the 2nd shard... you need both to be able to restore your wallet.

Gotcha. But is that passphrase just a normal one or a BIP39 security lock? Well, to me, it sounded more to me like multisig or something but it has its own limitations and so I didn't describe that already.
1924  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Spending-bitcoin.com - The biggest directory of webshops accepting Bitcoin! on: November 14, 2019, 03:36:58 PM
--snip--

To celebrate our launch we are giving away a free Ledger Nano S: Whitepaper Limited Edition!

--snip--

The winner will be announced on November 12, 2019.

@SpendingBitcoin,
Did you announce the winner already or is it not decided yet?
The date has already passed and I guess we should have a winner now  Grin

And I would also like to ask one more thing here, as things will come to us through international shipping, won't they be stuck in customs or anything like that? Is there such information given on your or the vendor's website whether they want us to deal with it or they will be sending it in a way that that thing does not get caught in the middle by custom officers?
1925  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Are all BTC addresses really unique? on: November 14, 2019, 03:27:33 PM
Well, my thinking says that those who'd use the same address again and again might have the unnatural fear of getting their address/es compromised at some point, but if we keep changing the receiving addresses every single time, is there any need for this discussion that remains? Are the combinations going to be limited to those billions of addresses already generated even if the whole world accepts BTC and starts using new receiving address for each of their transaction?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we don't use more than single address not because we want to prove it that it's ours, but because a used address doesn't get charged higher fees compared to a newly generated one?
1926  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: A new take on "hardware" wallets? on: November 14, 2019, 02:36:35 PM
Great article TBH, but one thing is for sure that these guys were endorsing Yubikey more over Evercoin and it means that we surely need Yubikey's hardware in order to keep our funds safe in that wallet.

What I wish to know is:

- What would happen if Yubikey is stolen?
They have described the fact that it won't catch any attention from anybody sitting near us when we dig in the Yubikey into our mobile as it may look like a USB being used there. But what if someone tries to steal it and becomes successful? What if both the smartphone and Yubikey gets stolen?

- Is it really good to go for face ID detection with these wallets?
What would happen if you don't really have a very good camera or you may get your face highly bearded? Your camera may not recognize your face and you may get stuck in opening and using your own wallet maybe. I've got OnePlus 7T and this is what I've experienced - high heard and it was not even unlocking the phone after seeing my face. Sounds shit but true.

Having no passphrase or seed at all doesn't really makes sense IMHO because that's what we can even keep stored in an offline PC, a piece of paper, can even dig it into a metal and store it somewhere but this Yubikey thing, if stolen, how will they deal with providing us to enter our wallet ever again? Is there any resolution provided to this already?
1927  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Spending-bitcoin.com - The biggest directory of webshops accepting Bitcoin! on: November 08, 2019, 11:50:28 PM
Interesting website with all the needed stuff to help us get complete information on how and where to spend BTC. Can you do an extra part on my request? As I'm from India, I don't really see any stores or places accepting BTC nearby me or maybe I'm not aware of it. Just to solve this, is it possible for you to classify these websites into which website serves where?

And about the Ledger Nano S Contest,

That whole dilemma of thinking about us making posts just to get a post count hit is shit actually and that's the invention of those mental guys who are challenged to prove us wrong but they know they can't.

Aha, watching your post history, I can give you a tag as a clean Legendary aka a nearly self-made Hero member (I'm yet to reach there hehe). Our journey really teaches us a lot, especially the places where we spend most of our time. Mine is no different than yours and I've too learned a lot on this forum while also earning through that learning and I'd like to thank:

Theymos - for creating such a wonderful place
Signature campaigns - for giving all of us an opportunity to earn while we learn and share our opinions in the form of debates and discussions
Campaign managers - to successfully manage campaigns, pay on time and keep the forum clean from spammers too (esp. for Yahoo and DarkStar_)
My fellow members - including you and everyone whom I've got in touch with till date, you guys have taught me a lot, shared a lot of things between us, corrected me whenever I was wrong. Aww I can't speak more else I'll start crying and everyone will think that this is my last post. Tongue
1929  Economy / Speculation / Aren't we headed towards getting a 10k (or maybe higher) shot again? on: November 07, 2019, 10:52:24 PM
I've witnessed that the wicks (abnormal buys/sells) have already taken place in the form of sell (see 1H chart on Binance) and the flag is still not broken towards any side. What do you believe this to be? A bull flag that's yet to shoot BTC to a much higher price than even 10k? This is what happened the last time when it started forming from 7444 area between June - July, 2019 and was shot up to 13970 forming a pole, but it went sideways (or I'd say range bound) for some time with a few small movements that included those 10% dumps and furthermore. Then it broke down to 7800 and 7300 further even after the bull flag pattern. Do you think it'll be opposite this time taking us to a new high for this year? It's November and based on my calculations, BTC had always risen upwards during the last 2 months of any year. What do you think about this?
1930  Local / India / Re: Ideas and Thoughts for celebrating 10th Bitcointalk Anniversary in Indian board on: November 07, 2019, 05:16:54 AM
I dont know whether the naming order can be rearranged. But, if it is, Any other active member and If anyone of you doesn't need a multisig, comment your support for whom? should be the last two options.

Was it mandatory to post here about our opinion? I'm clear with my decision already over Telegram that I'd only prefer Darkstar_ over any other candidates here.

Quote
Also, voters need to know, how long the poll will remain active. Otherwise, OP can close it at his whim as and when he feels his choices has higher vote than others.

Well, if you're talking about DS (I believe he supports DS as well), he may choose to do it right now as he's got enough votes over any candidate here, but that wouldn't be fair and that's why he even added more candidates like deadley, vennali and newIndia to give equal chance to everyone of them to be decided as an escrow, but I believe that our local community is highly inactive and/or unknown about this as well as very limited in number so we really can't get to a result here (if you want to hire an Indian extremely over a Canadian based on the TG group guy's comments). So it's better to stop this discussion please and leave it in the hands of DS, he's clearly the best of the best amongst any escrow on this forum.
1931  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiat Money is a Bubble on: November 01, 2019, 11:39:23 PM
Since many people try to convince us that Bitcoin is a bubble and how we will lose our money eventually, I wonder if money is not a bubble actually.

Yeah, it is a bubble, but a very sophisticated highly qualified and decent bubble that will not burst for centuries or until a new mode of payment is accepted against whatever we trade in the world.

Quote
There exist economies in which money has a positive value in spite its market fundamental is zero. That means fiat money has zero value.

That's because it is recognized among people whether nationally or globally. It is pegged and has limited fluctuations in comparison to each until some extremely bad conditions occur and make the currency fall badly against the other worldwide currencies.

Quote
Fiat money is a social contrivance. We take money from other people because we know other people will take it from us. In theory and practice the fiat money is a bubble.

Come on, in today's world, it's all about show-off and following what others do. You won't even purchase a detergent or soap or anything high-end or low-end whatsoever till you see someone else doing it and then coming to you telling you that, "Hey, that soap's awesome, ya need to try it out". That's the case with money but, money has got Reserve Banks to save their back and keep their values stable apart from the fluctuations because they've got the right to print them no matter what.
1932  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin adoption: A technical challenge on: November 01, 2019, 11:15:04 PM
All in all, you're speaking about a "currency" and not a cryptographic element (experiment) anymore. The day since we started comparing BTC to other individual Fiat currencies and started adopting because of its value in USD rather than its actual value i.e.; 1 BTC equals 1 BTC always. Since then, the adoption of BTC is being drifted more towards these qualities while the technical part has been left to a smaller set of Devs who were already involved since the beginning. While considering everything what I said:

Decentralization is never going to take place fully in the world of BTC because we (not me and you maybe, but most likely everyone) need something "highly secure to control our funds", I mean we want something to rely upon so badly that we can even compromise it to an Institution that can provide us with the same. We want Governments to get involved to stop criminal activities (yeah, we are relying over them Cheesy) and help us keep the activities clean and as smooth as possible because these authorities have got our back and they're the first to f*ck us as and when we try to save ourselves from disclosing our relations in BTC and paying taxes to them.

While about Scaling, I'm also not in the favor of any forks because forks create diversities in a community which was meant to be unique as well as united forever but that couldn't happen based on the fact that opinions change from person to person. And alts? Kick'em off all of them. They're just doing me one favor - cheaper fees and that's it. Nothing else can they do. Now back to the topic, scaling will also not be easier considering that if you come up with a new idea, the time it'll take to get implemented will already have a lot more traffic involved till then. It's like we try to make the roads bigger and broader from time to time, but during that period, quantity of vehicles won't remain the same and increases to almost double or sometimes even more. I guess scaling is not going to be any easier a topic here to get done till a system to deal with this quantity issue is invented and presented to the community and make them agreed to the same (that will be a different story as LN took a lot of time before everyone understood and adopted it, still it's very complicated).

Until Centralization remains, Privacy is ought to be compromised to various organizations where we will be storing our funds and need to meet their KYC AML obligations before we're able to get a hold on our funds back at many places.
1933  Local / India / Re: Solutions on How to file Tax returns on Bitcoin Income on: November 01, 2019, 12:38:42 PM
Does anyone of you guys know a reliable CA to get my taxes filed? I've got 2 CAs in contact but they don't know shit about BTC and what they know is all negative, so they speak the same - that ye ho jaega and wo ho jaega, jail ho jaegi, chhod do abhi ke abhi band kardo or kuch dusra kaam shuru kardo.

They try to scare people a lot based on what they know aur in CAs (Ch*tie Albelo) ko lagta hai ki ye Bhagwan hi ho gae BTC ke (limited to those 2 I'm talking about, to sab CA Dil pe mat le Lena). It's like these 2 guys - don't have the capacity to even chew popcorns in their mouth and talk like they can break walnuts under their @$$.

I know this is an old topic and was not touched since long, but this information is necessary for me at the moment, so to manage someone to keep my accounts.
1934  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Earning Bitcoin with cheap camera equipment. on: November 01, 2019, 12:25:04 PM
I know it's your idea and you want to keep it as it is - limited to the professional cameras instead of smartphones but I'd also like to add something here just like others. If you open this to smartphones (ah yeah I know you might not support this but still), I've recently bought OnePlus 7T on very small EMIs and I'd like to earn something through it to get its EMI recovered each month through the phone itself at the very least. If I can do photography and help out by any means (if you allow smartphones like OnePlus 7T series, Huawei Mate series and Samsung Galaxy's latest S10 and Note 10 series and few more high end phones based on your choice), please let us know at the earliest and let us showcase our photography and see if we can match those professional camera guys' quality.

I'd not prefer to work on any social medium that pays in crypto after Hyperspace's (formerly Synereo AMP) demise.
1935  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: 0 sat/byte fee ? on: October 31, 2019, 11:45:34 PM
What % of chances are there of a 0 sat/byte fee transaction to get relayed through a node allowing such 0 fee transactions these days if mempool has got a very big amount of transactions stuck at that level? Like if the size is around 5-8 MB, is it likely going to get accepted any sooner than a week or less? I'd like to play with the 0 sat/byte fee but scared about the possibilities of getting it accepted in a block while even 1 sat/byte are not easily getting accepted considering that majority of miners are going for higher fees and some exchanges have started paying higher fees maybe to clog the mempool and spike the fee structure.

@OP, were you successful in getting your node up and running after trying to setup the mintxfee to 0 and taking all the steps told by experienced members?
1936  Economy / Gambling / Re: Can you believe that this dice is real? on: October 31, 2019, 02:07:34 PM
Real players or not  then we can do anything to verify it and yes those are insanely amount of BTC being rolled on.

I believe these values shown are just fake, can't be real at all and even if they are being played for real, then these look like bots set up by Yobit itself in their exchange to show their real users that such big bets are being played and won there, thus encouraging those real users to bet big and "lose" mostly. Because when nothing is defined there, no house edge, no player hash, no secret hash, and not even the provably fair issue that's raised by OP, I believe that you'll just shoot in the dark with no possibilities of reaching target.

Quote
Regarding on dice on yobit,
yes it do has and its already been a while for them to had this game. This would only pop out on their top webpage if you do have
the balance of minimum of 0.01 BTC and if your balance is below to that amount then it wont show off.

Ah well, there you tried to go over smart. It'll show as 0.01 BTC in the right hand side box (I had an account there and I checked all this after watching this thread) and no, you don't need a minimum balance to see the Dice feature in the exchange (I had 0 balance still I was able to visit and check the ongoing bets). But yeah, in the right hand side, you'll see a drop down box with set amounts with minimum bet of 0.001 BTC, but that's not the case if you visit their dice page. You can even play with 1 satoshi after visiting that page.
1937  Economy / Gambling / Re: Private Bustadice + Bustabit Script (.6 BTC/600K Bits per Hour) on: October 31, 2019, 01:48:28 PM
In laymans term, explain how your script will work, and how someone's will earn a .6BTC per hour without a huge mining power.

Are you kidding?
This script is about gambling on Bustadice/Bustabit, so what made you think he's talking about mining? Didn't you read OP carefully?
1938  Economy / Reputation / Re: Cryptotalk 1 BTC Contest Manipulation on: October 30, 2019, 11:58:20 PM
I'm shocked that a forum paying 10 cents per post and giving a 1 BTC prize for most posts would have spam and cheating in it. Unthinkable.

Well, I highly doubt they'll pay it and if they do, I'll go donate my kidneys (yeah, both) for free.  Grin
You're shocked, but I'm ridiculed by their 10 cents per post and people are posting shit there and none of the content is good. I don't think they're trying to create a better forum with healthy discussions over Bitcoins and everything that relates to crypto, but are rather into getting it filled with asses who just want to spam the hell out there while bumping their forum every minute (or even second) to gain those few cents. Can't believe my eyes that people here are advocating that if you just plagiarize your own content and post it there, then that's fine. Wtf? What's the meaning of a new forum when everything is just going to be a copy-paste? Is Cryptotalk fine to be called off as a copycat of Bitcointalk?

Quote
Wouldn't the greatest writers in history rise from their graves to fill that forum with masterpieces?

You've come to the right place - Cryptotalk, a place of ethnic herds having their brains filled with superpowers (oh sorry, such normal gays guys don't have it) to write down some immoral immortal content we may find nowhere in the world.

I’d rather lick a dogs asshole than join that cess pool of a forum.
What about a Fox's? Wink
Don't be ridiculous; it only makes sense to compare that forum to undesirable things. Tongue

Couldn't stop laughing my ass off over that comment. Cheesy

I hired a coder to write this script for me, no one ever had it but me. I am selling it because I am leaving the gambling world. I made 50K USD profit and I'm done gambling. This is the amount that will make me debt free and I'm taking the ticket.

--snip--

Nice try OP at selling your script for 1 full BTC when you can do that for yourself already if you'd have played a bit more on those sites yourself? Or are you scared that your method won't be able to beat the house edge that longer and you stopped?

And where nobody noticed, I would like to ask you something based on what you said. You claimed that you've made $50k in profits (watch carefully everyone), but how come BTC0.63 = $50000? Did BTC reach $100k? Or did it reach there just for you?

So, you claim that we just need 100k Satoshis means 1 mBTC in order to win and get back our 1 BTC that we pay you? And you just want to sell the script because it has got some rules (or in other words, strings attached to it) and you want to ^leave the gambling world, eh^? Trust me dude, you'll immediately deposit this 1 BTC over any other gambling website or even these ones, play back and lose because no gambler can stop gambling based on what I've observed till now, so stop lying here. You registered on bustadice just 13 days ago and wow, you even created a method to ditch them and earn a fortune? That was all your luck my friend, and it changes every moment for everyone.

1 sat/byte is still possible!

I'm trying to get an exact time duration that it will take in order to confirm that transaction (at least an average would do) that if I send 1 sat/byte, how long do I need to wait before I can get it included in a block? Many explorers are now being proven wrong by the miners considering a lot of fluctuations in the minimum fee structure due to the market price volatility.
