Can't we all see the wallet before it hits BE? just go to bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin...
Even better: blockchain.info

Is it really against the rules to copy avatars?
I do not believe so. However, if you own the copyright to an avatar, you are free to request that it be taken down. We'll gladly accept just normal requests like that, but if you insist, you can also send us a DMCA request. Either way, if you own the image, we'll remove that user's avatar.

Last update. To date, Astana has reversed over 600sud in btc trades via paypal over the past 3 months and states that he does not know me and that his paypal account was hacked. I will let paypal sort this out and I am not to worried about it. Please submit all the evidence you have on both this deal, as well as the Paypal deals that are now disputed, to me (or the public in this thread) at your earliest convenience. Theymos doesn't like handling these investigations himself.

PM me if he posts another false scam report. I have sent him a warning to stop posting false scam reports.

This attack is useful when, a victim is on an unsafe network such as an open wifi hotspot, and intentionally avoids doing anything important while on the network. The victim goes home, but the attackers modified 3rd party script is still cached, and continues to run arbitrary javascript on any site with the "infected" 3rd party script.
The victim might start to browse different websites that are more sensitive once they are no longer on an untrustworthy network that utilize the 3rd party script.
That's why you configure your browser to delete all cached data when you close it. That's also why no sane developer should be serving sensitive data over HTTP or have HTTP content on a sensitive page, period. HTTPS is *never* cached to disk.

Another thing you can do is post a bond with a trusted member so that you can bootstrap off of their reputation. They then hold onto those funds for a specified period of time, and if you turn out to be a scammer, they can pay out any claims from that fund. Thus, people only need to trust the bond holder, not you. If you're selling to people individually, you can also state that you'll accept using an escrow. One such escrow is http://btcrow.com/

I've just put 0.01 in the wallet to start it out. I won't participate from here on out because I would have insider information being able to see the wallet before the transaction hits blockexplorer.
You might want to re-think this, then, because so can the rest of us.

Hello,
I'm writing a paper for myself in order to understand how bitcoin works. I have a serious problem of understanding the transactions. According to definition of public key cryptography, Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm and Nakamoto's paper, a transaction consists of the previous transaction plus the payee's public key in the hash function, which is signed by payer's private key to confirm the change of owner rights. At least this is what I understand.
The definition of Transactions in bitcoin wiki is a little different than that. It also says that nothing in the network is encrypted. Could someone please explain me how a transaction works? Thanks in advance.
Those definitions don't conflict at all. Transactions involve signing and hashing, but encryption doesn't ever take place (unless you count signing as encryption, which may technically be correct). It seems that you pretty much understand it (other than the whole scripting part, but I'd ignore that until you understand everything else). Honestly, I'd suggest just looking at a few transactions over at Blockexplorer.com and let us know if you still have any questions.

I am newbee to chat also, not only to bitcoin, so, I don't understand how to register and use bitcoin-otc? their userguide is for experienced users, I don't know how to find gribble and how to register to be able to trade? You just have to type /msg gribble command-hereI know how to generate gpg keys and how to upload to some server. but this gribble is problematic for me. and will this gribble show my real IP address? Yes, as will IRC, itself. if yes, how to register with proxy? if gribble is webbased chat or something like that, then I can change proxy settings in my web browser. if it is some software, I hope I will be able to hide IP.
For that, you'd want to look online for a guide that tells you how to connect to freenode with a proxy. If I recall, it requires you to initially have someone register an account for you before freenode will let you connect behind a proxy. I know its been mentioned on the forums here before, too, so there's a good starting point.

Flip Tulipcoin, I understand exactly what you're suggesting. Thus, here's a much more specific question: how would you combat the potential for a sybil attack, without the assumption that every client must be connected to the network at all times?

Thing is, this isn't as bad as you think this is. Sure, they can point Google Analytics to a rouge server, but if they have control of the dns, they could do the same to any other HTTP site as well, regardless of whether or not the site uses Google Analytics. That's why DNSSEC is so important.
If your site involves private personal information at all, every page with said information (or where said information can be entered) MUST be entirely HTTPS (especially any external scripts), at least until DNSSEC is out. With DNSSEC, you can relax that requirement to only require HTTPS when private data is submitted (as in, the login page can be HTTP, but the submission of the login has to be HTTPS) and when private data is displayed.

Does the system include any path to redemption?
Yes, he just has to pay back the people that he scammed. While it won't guarantee that we'll remove the label, it will at least allow us to re-open the case and re-evaluate things.

Unlike most forums, we don't ban scammers. The reasoning for this is really quite simple: a ban is for someone who disrupts the forum in some way. In most cases, scammers aren't disruptive - they just make bad business deals. As such, to warn people, we tag the account appropriately. There's no reason to take away someones ability to be part of discussions for something completely unrelated.

Normally, as a Global Mod, I don't get involved in things like this that are administered by the local mods, but they seem to have neglected this for several days.
I bumped EMC out and replaced it with Yourbtc.net. If I screwed up doing this, let me know.
I mean if anything bump BTCmine. Nothing against them personally, but they don't need to be stickied because I do not think they allow new members. They are also approx. 122 GH/s where EMC is approx. 153 GH/s. BTCmine was at about 180 GH/s at the time I checked it. That being said, since they are now much lower than EMC, I bumped them out and replaced them with EMC.
