2541  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance will be ban in the Philippines? on: July 09, 2022, 10:34:50 AM
Good day to all the members in this forum, maybe I should start our conversation with the questions we will discuss.

First question, is it possible to ban Binance in the Philippines?

According to the BSP (Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas) there is a group or organization called INFRAWATCH PH that issued a letter to the BSP saying that one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world should be banned or suspended. Because it doesn't have a license to operate in our country, and if your gonna take a look at it, they are right. Because in order for you to be an official company related to exchange or virtual assets, you need to have a VASP (Virtual Asset Service Provider) and there are always associated requirements before you can have a license to operate in the Philippines. And some of the licenses here are Coinsph, PDAX and Paymaya which will soon be able to buy and sell crypto.

According to Binance, they have not yet formally received the letter about banning them here in the Philippines. And they are also ready                  to discuss about this matter because they are also ready to get a VASP license or even an E-money license.

And as far as I know, last June the CEO and Founder of Binance visited here and they plan to expand here in our country, and they also plan to provide a scholarship program and eventually the graduates will be able to work in the Binance company.

According to the SEC (Security Exchange Commission), Binance is also not registered but they are monitoring it despite the fact that other investigations are still being conducted not only here but also in other countries such as France and the U.S. That is why because of these events the value of their BNB token was affected.

So far we have not really heard any Final updates on these events, because at the present time now we can still use Binance here in our country whether we want to transfer it via Coinsph, Gcash, or Bank account that we have. And I just hope that Binance will not be banned in our country because there are also many users here in our country.

Referrence:
- https://bitpinas.com/regulation/binance-response-infrawatch-bsp-ban-ph/

Of course it is possible that Binance will be banned in any country. Binance is a centralized exchange. Anything centralized is under the full mercy of regulation.

However I do not think that the Philippines will be introducing any bans on Binance as they could have already done so. Just because there are now people who are calling them out on not running "by the book" in a certain country. We should not panic too early on this matter.

Binance is probably the most careful exchange I know. Even the SEC itself has not raised any alarms yet.

Roomers are Ellon is backing off the 44B deal of Twitter

The rumars are troo.

Everything Elun Mosk does is PR to boost his own giant ego on social media and/or manipulate the market of his own investments. He never intended to buy Twitter for such a huge sum of money, it was just all show. FFS he even named his own child some ridiculous shit for social media clout.

2543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El-salvador bitcoin investment is underwater on: July 08, 2022, 08:07:55 PM
Bitcoin is a long term investment. When an entire government invests into something you can be sure that they have entire teams of the best advisors money can buy making the strategy and doing the research.

So no, El Salvadors investment in Bitcoin is not "underwater". Its a long term investment and anyone who understands Bitcoin knows whether 50k, 60k or 20k, these are good times to buy.

tradingview isn't cool anymore?

 Not. Even. Close.

Tradingview masterrace! You can share your ideas and get likes to boost your ego on Tradingview. You people are just hipsters  Tongue Roll Eyes

Looks like a less developed but more stable version of cryptowatch but does not even seem to have simple Heiken Ashi candlesticks.

4/10. my eyes.

I use worldcoinindex.com for that very reason. Ticker on the top shows current price in BTC/USD, BTC/EUR, BTC/CNY, BtC/GBP, BTC/RUR & Total BTC Volume/Total Alt Volume. Automatically updates every few seconds. It's just simple & handy. Had never heard of Preev.com

Looks like a worse version of coinmarketcap. 1/10

Is preev.com really gone?  How am I going to check bitcoin value every 5 seconds now?!

I can't get it either, that sucks.

2546  Economy / Gambling / Re: Which crypto sportbooks are VPN friendly on: July 08, 2022, 12:53:15 PM
I don't see much difference between paid and free VPN. As for the best speed, maybe it is, but for me personally it is not critical, and the free one gives me the speed I need. And in the best disguise of the country and city from where you access the Internet, as well as the best protection of some of your personal data and their potential theft on paid VPNs, I strongly doubt it. Whatever the devs of these paid VPNs promise, I think they are all somehow controlled by the competent supervisory authorities in each country.
Mere looking at it there is no different between free and paid VPN because everything is still paid when we look at it from another perspective. The free VPN get there money from google ads that is why they still make money even though yiu don't want to paid a dime. The ads that we see using all those free VPN are source of income to the programers/owners. The free VPN sometimes does not allow us to select a region where we want the ip address to be fixed but they are still the same.
Then it's better to choose a paid VPN, when you are gambling, that means you are capable of risking money, so I'm sure a monthly subscription of a VPN for a gambler is not that expensive. At least, with a paid VPN, you can get what you want, the IP country you like and you'll be in a server that are less congested.

I agree. An unpaid VPN aka a free VPN is not only slow and inefficient but you will lose more privacy than you think. I am sure the free VPN services collect and sell your data and do a lot worse things than that. Quite ironic, wanting to protect your privacy and then losing your data to some shady people who you will never know.

Paid VPNs are really worth it. And as previous posters have mentioned, getting a dedicated VPN for a bit of extra cost will really save you a lot of headaches.

Well, up until an online gambling casino or some other platform like a cryptocurrency exchange freezes your account and funds arbitrarily and asks for your KYC, which of course you will have problems with seeing as they will see you used a VPN and then only more problems arise from that... Non custodial is the way to go and is the future!

Holy fuck, Shinzo Abe assassinated

Its ok, the assassin wore a mask. His vaccination status will be checked.

In all seriousness, RIP Abe. Japanese dissatisfaction is no joke.
2548  Economy / Gambling / Re: The History Of Gambling. on: July 07, 2022, 04:46:19 PM
What a great subject! "The History Of Gambling" Grin

I would absolutely love to see proof that our cave-dwelling ancestors had gambling games with rocks, sticks and bones. I doubt there is a way to actually find out the oldest gambling games of humans /early humans though. We cannot even seem to find out what the lost languages, like aramaic or even older ones, were in essence. So something as complex as gambling is definitely lost to time.  Roll Eyes

There is even proof that animals like chimpanzees have a proclivity towards some version of what might resemble gambling. They did experiments with apes in labs and the apes did seem to understand the gambling concept of risky winning. Not sure if one could find something similiar in wild nature.
2549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Top US Energy Company to Explore Bitcoin Mining on: July 07, 2022, 04:24:54 PM
About time an energy company got into the game of improving mining energy problems. I would have thought it would be a bigger issue with more energy companys looking to get onboard...

Although Bitcoin mining energy is not really all that impressive compared to other needs for energy, maybe this will somehow help with the scaling issues or power outtages that happen in some more rural areas?

Would be cool if this resulted in cheaper electricity although I doubt they wouldnt just pocket the difference for more profit.
2550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Something Like This Happen To You on: July 07, 2022, 09:37:24 AM
We experienced unexpected events or moments in gambling like this one, you are calling it off a day in a session then you're suddenly on a winning streak thinking that it's your time to get back what you've lost will you go or will you stop and come back the next day.

I'm sometimes tempted to continue but I know you cannot beat the house, so most of the time I just call it a day and just wished that tomorrow or next time it's my lucky day. What about you what's your take.

Thats a very dangerous mindset to have in gambling, especially if you are in an altered emotional state from having lost money. Thats what most if not all gambling casinos rely on, at the end of the day. They want you to become so disoriented and emotionally unstable that you make a bad decision and give them all you money. Thats basically their business plan.

I think that is why it is utterly important to discipline yourself with hard rules which you have decided on beforehand. Rules like the amount of money you are willing to lose/win before leaving the casino. Or if you feel yourself getting angry, its time to leave for the day. Rules like that.

Follow a strict disciplined gambling style and you will find your losses become a lesser deal.
2551  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The risk of NOT actually owning your mining hardware. on: July 07, 2022, 09:27:42 AM
I think you are completely correct when you say there is risk in not actually owning your mining hardware. But I also think that same principle of risk goes for everything else which you do not completely own. Just look at what happens when you leave your Bitcoin on the wrong exchange and they close up shop and never give you your Bitcoin back. Furthermore when it comes to mining, you are depending on the people who sold you the miners not to have included some kind of malware or spyware in the miners. And that the people who built the miners did not use defective chip parts and so on...

So what can really be said for ownership? Is anything really "ours"? Or do we just decrease risks without ever getting rid of the risks themselves?
2552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was the coupling of Bitcoin to fiat a mistake? on: July 07, 2022, 08:19:17 AM
Ok, let's measure Bitcoin's value in Big Macs. You would still find that yesterday it was 1,000 Big Macs and today it's 700 Big Macs, and tomorrow it's 1100 Big Macs. Bitcoin doesn't crash because people choose to look at its price in USD or any other fiat currency, it crashes because it is a risky, unstable asset with a purely speculative value.

If all governments banned Bitcoin, it would only be a currency for darknet markets, so in some sense it would be closer to the cryptoanarchist utopia, but it would also mean zero chance of mass adoption.

The price manipulation from the governments side is a huge force in the inflation of fiat. A big mac may be worth some amount of money but that price will rise the more the government prints money, making the money already in circulation more worthless. And history shows us that deflation is not in the books when it comes to fiat and the government that controls it. Why? Because it is not profitable. Slowly extorting money out of the people, thats profitable. And if you do it slowly enough nobody asks questions. Of course supply and demand play a huge role even if fiat did not exist, but if we replaced fiat with Bitcoin, that artificial price increase of the Bigmac would not happen.

Im just hoping fiat gets replaced by Bitcoin sooner than later.

Yeah, I keep hearing the same thing from women in my life on an almost daily basis, in a multitude of different ways.

And here I am once again, googling for over half an hour: "how to make women shut up".

2554  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is for big bag holders on: July 06, 2022, 09:14:45 PM

I would recommend everyone to avoid that "strategy" and rather just walk away from gambling for the day when you start noticing that rise in blood pressure and adrenaline. Thats a strategy. Grin

There is no right strategy in gambling, everyone will lose money in the game, sooner or later it will happen, I think all experience the same thing about the Martingale strategy.
Every time we play gambling, there is always adrenaline in us and of course the pressure to continue the game becomes very emotional, plus losing blood pressure will increase emotions uncontrollably and in the end we get out of line that cannot be avoided, but by regulating control we don't know the limit until when, for example, losing or winning still limits must be applied.

That sounds perhaps a bit too pessimistic? No offense. Its important to know where your borders are and the only true way you can find that out is by testing them. Some tests are dangerously risky, some are not. But once you find and define your limits (borders), you should be able to develop your own ways to make gambling a better experience for you. Some strategies can include averaging your losses, setting boundaries for how much you are willing to take home in winnings before you stop gambling and there are many more. They all serve to minimize the risks of continous gambling and of course, eventually losing.

Some of us were lucky to get two. Even nutildah got one, despite being absent for a long time and (AFAIK) not joining the ridicule of nullius' latest sockpuppet.

Uncle nutildah had three before it was cool to have two.

I feel slightly insulted by the copy paste red trust rather than the red trust itself. Noobius did not even bother to write an original sentence but rather keeps parroting his old accusations which he has made against basically every person who truthfully points out to him how much of a jackass he actually is. 2557  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is for big bag holders on: July 06, 2022, 03:39:19 PM
I think we all often use the martingale technique when playing and I've experienced a loss that drained the contents of the savings I collected in one year just to play one game, any strategy if a player can't control himself will end up losing. no matter how much capital he has in the end the bookie wins. this is a fact. I'm not the only one who has lost a lot, I think everyone here who likes gambling has almost the same experience.

I applied the same strategy and also ended up losing my savings which I regret until now. Yes, most of us have the same experience especially when we're overwhelmed and we are not able to control our emotions. Too much excitement and adrenaline rush when playing sometimes leads us to wrong decision of betting too much.

I agree, I myself have not made any successes with the martingale technique and in fact, I would not go as far as to call that an actual strategy. Rather the martingale technique is the result of rage-gambling whenever you lost a lot of money and now become desperate with emotion. Anyone who knows what I am talking about would never call it a strategy rather a consequence of gambling while under great emotional distress.

I would recommend everyone to avoid that "strategy" and rather just walk away from gambling for the day when you start noticing that rise in blood pressure and adrenaline. Thats a strategy. Grin

What is "crypto?"  Does it have some kind of relationship to my lil precious?

crypto-
/ˈkrɪptəʊ/

Definition:

Crypto is the short form for cryptocurrency. Its what the cool kids call Bitcoin because it sounds cooler. Unfortunately this also leads to them buying fake scam coins which are not Bitcoin.

Another amazingly accurate case of what happens when "not your keys, not your coins" is disregarded. I would not be surprised if they just tell everyone "sorry, we're bankrupt. Or maybe they will forego telling everyone how screwed they are and keep denying reality like Luna Terra. "Keep believing in us, because [insert PR slogan]. By the way, I still believe that any of us have the potentiality to mindrust, and surely any of us should hope that if we do end up mindrusting, it would be some relatively small portion (less than 33% perhaps?) of the BTC stash - rather than 100%.. but of course, any panic might cause us to develop way more confidence in the wrong direction than the situation merits.... so for sure, there is frequently some kind of mindrust inclinations in each of us.. even if we believe we have our finances and psychology sufficiently hedged/balanced.

I think Mindrust mindrusted us all into not-mindrusting. After seeing what happened to Mindrust, I am never going to mindrust again. Even if the feeling of mindrusting comes back during a scary dip. Tongue

It seems like we receive various kinds of vague statements from several of these companies that largely seem to come after the public has already found out that they are "in trouble."

So one of the patterns seems to be that the company will amorphously report the matter, while creating the impression that everything is fine, and with the passage of time, we end up finding out more and more and more that everything is quite "far from fine."

Sometimes it appears that the company is really fucked, but they are potentially going to be able to prevent their customers from losing funds, but surely other times it becomes quite clear that the situation is much further gone, and beyond any kind of recovery because they don't even ha enough funds to cover the customers, either.  I would imagine that the ones being assessed by FTX or even by other possibly sufficiently capitalized companies are not going to buy the company unless there is at least enough capital to cover a vast majority of the client/customer deposits, and that can take a bit of time to figure out how bad is bad.
