Can someone tell a beginner what the minimum hash rate to receive a reward is on KanoPool?

TNX

Its around 500Ghs to be eligible for payout.

I’m going to run the gekkoscience  8 port hub and power brick with 6 newpacs. Should this system be able to run the newpacs at 650 with proper cooling?

Not sure the brick will be enough juice for that. Also im not sure the barrel jack itself is rated for the amperage

Probably an issue with the hub. What hub is it? Mains powered? What port did you plug the second stick into? Right next to the other stick? Could be the ports share power delivery components. Try plugging them in at opposite ends.

So it seems my plucky little R606 is unwell. It stopped around 11:30am (now 6pm) with the error:-

"Gekkoscience detect (1:4) failed to initialise (incorrect device?), resetting"

I have shutdown the Pi4, turned off the R606 power supply (HP server 460w with Gekko Breakout Board) and restarted it twice so far. Turned down the freq to 700m and it starts hashing for a while and getting over 500m quickly. But within 30mins or so the error returns.

Currently while writing this I have switched USB leads and ports on the Pi4 to see if that is the problem.

No lights are flashing to indicate a fault (orange power led on constantly, and white led flashing for shares).

Its been at 800m for months without any issues. There have been no power outages or anything to disturb it today.

Update:-
So it seems it may well have been the port or usb cable that was at fault. It has been running 700m for the past 4 hours with no issues. Just increased it back to 800m. I'll leave it running overnight and see what I wake upto.

Update 2:-
Running at 800m V5 as it was before. Amazing how a cable and/or port can cause issues out the blue.

I had a single 92mm fan blowing directly down onto 6 newpacs on a GekkoHub and ran comfortably at 650m for months. Ambient room temp was 20-23c (not sure what that is in F). So if the cooling is good then you should be able to reach that ok most likely.

If you are using windows then you want to open a new Notepad file. Type in the same as the linux one but start it with “cgminer.exe” instead (I think) and save it as a .bat file. Then you can run the .bat file.

Did you run it direct from your morherboard usb port?

I thought bravo mining pool was closed?

Also we need more info on your setup. What hub, what OS etc etc etc

Got my order confirmation through from Bitshopper.de. Looking forward to getting this up and running as soon as it arrives.

Wrong section. This is the BTC section only. You need to ask this in the "Mining (altcoins)" section. I've asked mods to move it.

The “virus” will be in the control board. Try swapping it for a different one or try a different OS. Braiins OS works well although its not proven to find a block yet. But it hashes and if you get the “Plus” version you can set a power limit and it will auto tune to the best/most efficient settings based on the power limit.
292  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing GekkoScience's new USB stick miner, the aptly-named NewPac on: March 15, 2021, 10:38:30 PM
I don't see anything marked like that.   I see, A, F, N0, N1,  4,8 and 16 as marked items along with one pad circled...
the card is v6.3d

Sorry my mistake. That was the previous generation stick. Not sure where the newpac probe points are. They will be mentioned in this thread somewhere.

The problem is, i don't find clear informations to setup voltage screw!, it's very nebulous... I tryed a freq of 500 MHz but i get lot of errors? Maybe the screw is not setuped correctly (i got the initial screw setup)

The voltage pot should have the flat side set to about 4 - 5 o’clock if the stick is orientated so the heatsink is laying on a surface and the usb connector is closest to you. These shouldnt need voltage adjustment though. I ran mine at stock voltage and got a freq of 650m.

Usually poor performance and errors is due the USB hub you are using.
293  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing GekkoScience's new USB stick miner, the aptly-named NewPac on: March 15, 2021, 10:31:53 AM
There should be pads on the back for testing the voltage with a multimeter. Something like Vcore and GND.

Try using the instructions by mstrozier on page 28. Worked great for me on my Pi4.

Anything over stock freq is not guaranteed and will void and warranty. If you have good active cooling then up the freq as much as you dare. I hit 650m with my 6 sticks and ran for 18months without problems.
296  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing GekkoScience's new USB stick miner, the aptly-named NewPac on: March 12, 2021, 03:46:56 PM
Nice setup. But thats not as far as they can go. I had 6 running 650m for 140Ghs each being cooled by a 92mm fan. Ran like a champ for 18months no problems.

With your setup you should get that no problem.

Put a space between the the cgminer and -o. So "./cgminer -o".

Huh  You said you were mining dogecoin??

P.S. Not sure why the cropped quote I did wasn't right. I only quoted the bit I was referring to  Roll Eyes

if you have put "haha" in your worker password on the pool then that's what it should be on your .bat file. Try changing that first and see what happens.

Also you are aware that Dogecoin is Scrypt and NOT SHA256. Gekkoscience products only mine SHA256 algos.

From what I have just read in the OFFICIAL thread, that is the bad version. Delete it and download it direct from the OFFICIAL THREAD.

One more thing?

I have managed to get them running apart from 2, on both units the fans seem to twitch forward and one has an led (R16) blinks red. Anyone have any experience of this?

Devices are found in Linux but cgminer doesn't recognise them...

Thanks for all the help and input guys much appreciated  Smiley

Probably worthwhile taking the fan off and "servicing" it as best you can. Maybe try it on an external power source to make sure it still works.

I assume you are running cgminer on the linux based machine? If not and its windows then you need to run Zadig and change the USB driver first.

I've managed to find the U3 user manual after a bit of digging on Bitmains website. it may be useful.
