Thats it!! Where are they from?
1122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone using only a server psu with a standalone rig frame/rack? on: November 29, 2017, 08:56:45 AM
Yes, it's possible to run from one server PSU motherboards and all your psu's.  But you need to add 12V Pico Switch:
to your, server PSU be able to power the motherboard.

Yes my rig is running from a pico and its all connected to ONE seever psu. I’m asking if anyone has managed to mount it all to an aluminium frame. Im not asking how to set up a rig with a server psu.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Ive currently got a set of wire shelving (but contemplating building a frame) and hanging gpus from that and its ok but not easy to run cables and keep it neat. Now im only a hobby miner earning a few extra ££ considering the price of electricity here in the UK, but Im intrigued to see how many of you guys run only server psu’s and have everything mounted to a frame with all the cables neat and tidy. So if youve got pictures post them up  Angry

I use just a server psu and breakout board for few of my rigs, works out great especially since there 240v psu's, ya only need a pico psu that's 150watts and a custom cable to power the pico

Thanks for the repy ive already got a pico and custom cable running the 8pin EPS aswell  Wink. Just curious about people server only setups.
1124  Economy / Computer hardware / Gauging Interest/Evaluation of hobby 2pac, Raspi3 setup on: November 28, 2017, 10:30:23 PM
Hey everyone,

Just wondering what my little setup could be worth (USD). It has the following components:-

Raspberry Pi3 running raspbian and cgminer (vh compiled gekko version)
2x “naked” usb hubs with independant power supply
2x Drok Voltage regulators
2020 Aluminium frame with perspex panels
1x Rii I8+ Wireless keyboard and pad.
1x US Green Gekko Compac (single chip)
2x 2Pacs (1x US Green, 1x EU Black)
1x Arctic USB fan

Comes with UK power adaptor for Raspi and UK power adaptors for the USB Hubs.

Its wired so it can run from a 6pin PCIE plug (which it is now) which is connected via a cut 6pin adaptor wired to connector blocks and then split to the regulators. Its a little crude but the wires and connectors are manufactured for 230v so no safety issues. I made it so there is a space under the hubs for a regualr atx psu as originally I had it running from a fanless atx psu via a 24pin breakout board.

Picture:-

1126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote Windows CPU Miner v3.8 on: November 28, 2017, 05:27:48 PM
I'm also getting this "CANNOT ALLOCATE MEMORY" error.

I still have 7Gb free memory tho.

How much does this tool need?

Have you enabled “lock pages in memory” if youre running windows. Google it and enable it. Added a third more hashrate and got rid of the error
1127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain power supply for gpu’s on: November 28, 2017, 07:25:45 AM
No real difference compared to using a server psu and breakout board. Personally id always use a server psu as i dont trust bitmains build quality in psu’s

HagssFIN, I cant believe that you have only just discovered these  Shocked I thought you wouldve been the first to snap one up and give it a go.
1129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore Falsely Reporting Higher Hashrate on: November 27, 2017, 08:55:52 AM
Yes the hashrate may be different but its still one of the only decent mining softwares out there. Also most of us use it on a standalone machine with no other information on. No need to worry about security risk or anything else claymore might be “lying about”.
1130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI GTX 1070TI Ethereum -> Nanopool problems on: November 26, 2017, 05:03:55 PM
You cant run a 1070ti on 60% Power limit. It will struggle. Your clocks are high but feasible. Try increasing your power to 65-70% and see how you get on.
1131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080 Mini vs 1070ti Mini ? on: November 24, 2017, 08:46:02 PM
So how come any profitability calculator I look at says the most profitable coin for the 1070 is ETH/ETC?

Just bought 0.01 from jh0w4n1z. Smooth trade as always.
1134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dark color spots on pcb of GTX1070 on: November 23, 2017, 10:15:31 PM
Fun fact  Wink The first 5 are from the same order/store, the 6th 'bleeding' one was bought a couple of weeks later from another store.

Could it be a “refurbished” card then? Could explain why its just that one as it may have been pulled apart for refurbing and the paste changed.
1135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dark color spots on pcb of GTX1070 on: November 23, 2017, 04:53:48 PM
Could be some sort of oil from the thermal compound thats leeched out from the mating face over time. As wih any oil a little bit can travel a fair distance.
1136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best of GTX 1070s on: November 22, 2017, 05:38:13 PM
Ive got evga 1070ti SC black editions. Dual fan and almost silent at 30% fan speed running a steady 58-60c each. 32.4mh on ETH at 65% power limit (approx 100w). Great cards.
1137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What happens if psu supplies power to a card that isn't running? on: November 22, 2017, 09:26:38 AM
If it was in a normal pc it would have constant power aswell. Mining rigs arent any different really.
1138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What happens if psu supplies power to a card that isn't running? on: November 22, 2017, 08:05:43 AM
Nothing really. It just sits at idle until its told to do something.
1139  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Server PSU-powered GPU rig packages! Pico's, Risers, adapter cables, etc. on: November 19, 2017, 08:33:15 PM
Hi, I am currently. trying to get all those cables together from amazon/ebay to build a rig with server psu. I still struggle with two things:

1. how do I power on the pico PSU from only pcie6pins?
2. how do I power on ssd, fans, etc everything molex-type?

thanks and regards

1. You get an adaptor cable made to suit. I used a 6pin to 8pin eps cable with a pigtail coming out of the 6pin end to power the pico.

2. Buy a 6pin to molex adaptor/splitter and run the fans directly from the psu, not the pico.
