Sorry everyone for the late reaction, I haven't been checking this thread for quite some time now. How can I receive thread notifications, btw? Does anyone know?
Click the "Notify" link at the top or the bottom of the page to get email notifications.

So I can't test a private pool? I set up an ecoinpool instance and wanted to blast it with hash for a little while, but it seems that it can't be approved.
3123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Request for Tor users. Need some help on: May 05, 2012, 02:45:15 PM
Guys, I've done it. Using ofbs-tor added to the list 3 fresh bridges and it connected!  Smiley Smiley Smiley

I see a torrent in the background. I hope for the sake of the network that you aren't running it over Tor. Anyways, glad you got connected.
3124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Request for Tor users. Need some help on: May 05, 2012, 02:00:50 PM
Okay... Did you look here?

https://bridges.torproject.org/

If you can't open it - just send email with the line "get bridges" to bridges@torproject.org.

Surely I did. And sent e-mail too. Several times today. Unfortunately it doesn't work
In order to use the email functionality for getting bridges, you have to send from either a Yahoo or a Gmail account. I went to the http://bridges.torproject.org/ site and got the following bridges - not sure if they will work for you or not:

bridge 83.250.157.143:1337
bridge 80.67.172.115:9001
bridge 107.21.173.96:443

If you have IPv6, you can try [2001:948:7:2::164]:6001
3125  Other / Off-topic / Re: Could Al-Qaeda use Bitcoin ? on: May 05, 2012, 01:54:36 PM
They could be using it for money transfers because it helps them transfer money without being detected.
Only if you are extremely careful. It's difficult to be completely anonymous with bitcoin.

My pyramids are more compact.

But seriously WTF guys STFU.
3127  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB Crow Vending Machine for 40BTC on: May 05, 2012, 02:26:33 AM
The only thing you should be doing with that feeder is blasting the crows in the face with a shotgun. Like Norway rats, they are an invasive species almost everywhere, having followed the filth of humans, and displace native songbirds.
I'm not sure where you are, but I never see too may of them around here. Just enough to remind you that they exist. They are extremely smart; they can be taught many tricks, and are actually able to do some limited vocalization like a parrot. However, they are also extremely vindictive, if you piss one off it will never forgive you.

Quite a nasty sendmail glitch, sorry to hear about this.
Digging up dirt now, eh? That was like 2 months ago, you are late to the party.

Can we pay you obtain the router too? I might like to get one, but I don't feel like shopping around for the right router. Whatever you get, make sure it is very portable and has tons of flash + cpu etc.

I would be willing to find the best router for you, provided I know what your budget is. Give me a budget, I'll search around, probably offer you a couple different routers I found, and leave it up to you to make the choice. However, I currently don't have the cash to front the purchase for one, so you'd have to send payment for the router before I can send you the PirateBox.

Let me know! Smiley

You stolted my business brah!

This is weird how similar we are though...

I'm 16 years old, and got into Bitcoin when I was 15 years old. Granted I've been programming, doing server administration, and the likes for years and years, but I was able to understand the technical aspect of it.

I'm saving money for a new laptop...

Both the same haha.

Ah well, you beat me to posting, so its yours.

Good luck!

Hehe, well, greetings fellow teenager-in-need of laptop. Smiley And thanks. Anyone who wants this can get it from this guy too. Smiley
OK, get me a price on the fastest and most capable pocket sized router. It needs to have at least one Ethernet port and one USB port, and wireless is a plus but not a requirement.

Also, for anyone that wants a laptop, I have a used one of these available: http://www.eurocom.com/products/showroom/specselectnew.cfm?model_id=202
12GB RAM, i7-980X, X58 chipset, nVidia GTX 280M, 17 inch 1920x1200 matte display, number pad, 3 megapixel webcam, 2x 220 watt power supplies, jet-engine fans, etc. The battery lasts 5 minutes, or 10 tops with all the power saving modes enabled. They actually refer to the battery as a UPS system, since that is essentially what it is - it is supposed to keep the thing on when it gets unplugged by accident. Grin $3200 OBO

All clear.

Not at all. I will reply later.
Looks pretty clear to me. Even if the money might be yours (I would say it isn't, but that is beside the point), submitting fake documentation was stupid. You deserve to be blacklisted by any and all exchanges for attempting such as lame stunt, and you don't deserve any compensation of any kind.
This +1.

Don't judge so quick, if this isn't get clear, it could happened to any of us.
Orly? 3 different identities? And they are damn right in not saying how or why they know that it is fake - they sure as hell don't want to help all the trouble making idiots improve their fake identities.

If it isn't fake, you could probably sue to get the money back, and certainly win.

Inspired by this post, I feel like PirateBoxes are probably right up this community's ally.

If you don't know what a PirateBox is, here is a description from PirateBox themselves: "PirateBox is a self-contained mobile communication and file sharing device. Inspired by pirate radio and the free culture movement, PirateBox utilizes Free, Libre and Open Source software (FLOSS) to create mobile wireless file sharing networks where users can anonymously chat and share images, video, audio, documents, and other digital content. "

You can make your own via any of these guides. I am here only to try to make this process more convenient for you.

I'm saving money for a new laptop as I'm currently stuck on a Pentium 3 with one USB 1.0 port, can barely watch Netflix (frequently can't), and can't do much of anything. Any proceeds from this are going pretty much directly into helping me buy a new laptop so I can do more Cool Stuff again.

Basically, as was done in that post, you buy the parts (preferably TP-Link MR3020 or TP-Link TL-WR703N for the router, if you buy another one, I can't guarantee it'll be supported by OpenWrt, so make sure before you choose one): the router that is supported by OpenWrt and a USB drive (will dictate how much storage is on your PirateBox.)

You should have these shipped directly to me for the most cost-effective method. I will send you my address via PM. Please don't be a new or sketchy user on this forum, or I will not be comfortable giving you my address.

Once this has been completed, I will ship you the configured PirateBox (you will pay for this too. Unsure of how much shipping costs as it probably will vary by location. Please keep this in mind.)

Upon receiving your brand new PirateBox and ensuring it works, you will send me 3 BTC.

Please have some sort of reputation or a Bitcoin-OTC account so I know you aren't going to scam me.
Can we pay you obtain the router too? I might like to get one, but I don't feel like shopping around for the right router. Whatever you get, make sure it is very portable and has tons of flash + cpu etc.

Actually I was curious about the cable length.  Smiley
So you had less than 2% voltage drop on it but it couldn't handle what around 6.5 Amps.  Was it poor quality wire?

18AWG should be good for twice than length or more.
Interesting indeed... maybe it wasn't really 20 gauge?

This wire chart seems to indicate that 5 amps on 20 gauge should be able to run 9.5 feet without any trouble.
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o159/ocdropzone/electrical/WireChart.jpg?t=1242308611

That chart.... is for what voltage? It might be correct for 120 volts, but not 12.

Amps are completely independent of voltage though.
There are a large number of factors that affect wire ampacity. Here is a good calculator: http://circuitcalculator.com/wordpress/2007/09/20/wire-parameter-calculator/

You can see from that that it can support about 6 amps on 20 awg for a single wire at 25 degrees C. However, that ampacity is cut in half when the wire is in a bundle.

Received my order today.  Can't say I would recommend.   Undecided
Why, what went wrong?

Efficiency of most regulators varies with output current. At low currents they are usually poor. At high currents they lose some efficiency. That's copper conduction losses mainly. The best place to operate tends to mid capacity e.g. about 6A in out 12A circuit case.
I guess that's why many power supplies have their peak efficiency at 50% load? So you will be having oversized regulators then?

I like how you can completely disable an individual device at the power regulator level without affecting the others. This is something I don't think I have seen on other boards, although it could be the case on BFL's Single. They have what appear to be 2 banks of 8 MOSFETs (One per FPGA).

Will the controller device that interfaces with USB also have the capabilities of running its own operating system? I guess there aren't plans for Ethernet on this board, but that might be something to consider in the future if others want it.

Can you estimate the efficiency of the power subsystem? How would the efficiency compare between 4 small regulators vs. 1 large one?

I did not have sexual intercourse with rjk.
So you have to fuck me in order to NOT be a scammer?

Nope, just making sure everyone realised that your quote wasn't an reference directed at me. 'Oh shit, I'm screwed' by ...

Is there any way I can get in on this action or, so far, lack thereof? I promise to moan out loud, "I'm a scammer! I'm a scammer!" if that sort of thing excites you (not sure which you this is directed towards, butt...).
