321  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gambling kills the fun in these two cases on: April 04, 2024, 02:04:38 AM
Do not make gambling your only source of income or your only means of entertainment, as this will eliminate the first goal of gambling, which is pleasure.
I don't know why a lot of us have to say this as a reminder but it's a sad and weird thing that people still believe that they can make a steady income out of gambling, either they're so delusional that the reality of the situation doesn't seep into them, it's a really weird world we're living in to be doing all of that stupid thing. That's one part of why gambling business is such a lucrative business, because you have these people that want to try their luck if not push it because there's a promise that they're going to make a lot of money but that's not the case, the ratio of winning to losing is just too high to make it reasonable for someone to be making gambling their profession, of course it's a different story if you know how to play and make a profit like if you're a professional or just really good at poker then by all means make it your way of making a consistent money, got to remember though that a big loss is going to be a big loss and it's better if you try and do some kind of safety net.
322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Money vs Bitcoin on: April 03, 2024, 05:12:23 PM
Fiat currency has never been used as a store of value, because it can be manipulated by the government, and the government prints more money when there is low circulation of money. What are store of values are those valuable assets that appreciate over time, which fiat currency is not part of it. We only use it to buy and pay for goods and services, because it is a legal tender made by our government.
Technically you're right but USD and some other prosperous nations have their currencies used as a store of value via using them as reserves of some sort but that's just the end of it. I think everyone here is in agreement that it's bitcoin over fiat but remember that not a lot of us can use our bitcoin if fiat isn't important to, a lot of people still converts their bitcoin or profits in fiat so I'm not really sure that a debate and whatever is important is a valid one, for now, it's a tie between the two because bitcoin's not yet that strong to go against fiat.
323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC profit taking strategies? on: April 03, 2024, 04:09:01 PM
~
I believe as long as you never sell for losses, then your strategy will certainly work. Selling gradually while bitcoin price is on the surge helps you assure that you are making good returns every time you decide to sell. I cannot say it’s totally big but at least you have already taken advantage on the current price.

However, selling in time of bull run is more advisable because even bitcoin experts timing their bitcoin selling when a new all time high is present. But if you are more comfortable of doing that, as long as profits are there, I think that reason alone is good enough to say that you’re not losing but completely gaining good financial returns from your investment.
I'm not even thinking about the profits with my gradual selling and now you've reinforced the fact that I'm going to be getting more than what I've paid for, I just knew that the longer I hodl, that I'd be making more profit since I've got a target price to sell and then the fact that I've been hodling for a long time means I'm guaranteed a profit at the least. I don't even think I'll sell for losses, I've bought about 75% of my bitcoin below 20k USD so I'm not sure I'm going to be losing even if I sell right now. I can never do that bullrun thing though because I'm not good at predictions and concluding that this is the peak, that's why I've set a concrete goal, much better to follow and I know exactly what I want and no doubts about selling when the price is pumping.
324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone here ever visited El Salvador and tried paying with bitcoin there? on: April 03, 2024, 11:18:41 AM
Now this is a thing that I want to check out, it's definitely something that would pique our curiosity especially mine because I'm a bit scared of doing flights, really want to know how is it there? It seems that no one has been to El Salvador in this forum, that would be a really awesome thing if someone would share their travel experience. I haven't even seen yet any people that are from that country too, no one shared their experience yet as an El Salvadorian so it's still a mystery to me and it's weird that we haven't seen any kind of interaction from them in the forum too, by now there should be some people in that country that would stumble across this forum by chance since bitcoin is a big deal there already right?
325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bank - Safely store your bitcoin on: April 03, 2024, 06:52:35 AM
~

Controlling your own keys and wallet(s) is somewhat being your own bank (just without the funky financial products that traditional banks emphasize on). Your keys, your coins, your own vault. Sounds nice to me. Additionally I'd recommend reading the interesting PDF at https://smartcustody.com/, depending on how much coins you want or need to secure, proper risk assessment is crucial.
I didn't mean the self-custody part, that's what I like about bitcoin, I'm talking about the proposal of OP to create a bank so we can store our bitcoins there and I don't believe that it's the right idea for us to be a part of that where we're basically entrusting someone else to store our bitcoin, I don't really like that and with the fact that there's the SBF and Mt. Gox incident, it's unlikely for us to be trying this service.
326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Quantum computing" on: April 03, 2024, 05:35:35 AM
Quantum computers are dangerous because they can generate the private key from a public key which can be seen in the blockchain. Addresses who use p2pk are the most in danger, they say. With quantum computers, millions of bitcoin can be stolen but I don’t see any reason right now why we should panic.

Before quantum computing reach bitcoin, it will most likely find the altcoins first which will give us time to come up with a resistant system to quantum computing.
Either this happens or it won't but I don't see quantum computing being used for that anytime yet, most quantum computers right now are the size of a building and it's literally so unstable that it's environment is strictly controlled so definitely not the time to panic, quantum computers are the next generation of computing but becoming a market ready one, it's going to be 50 years from now and I think that if that's the estimated time that's right then we've got a lot of time in our hands before they can get to our wallets so at the worst case, don't worry about it from happening.
327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT BRAG ABOUT YOUR BITCOIN on: April 03, 2024, 04:43:39 AM
The only time that you should be talking about your bitcoin is if someone starts it and they're also a hodler, even at that point, you still need to be vague or maybe even the best thing to do is not talk about it, that's probably the best thing that you can do. There's this meme that I've seen in my social media feed and it talks about how you're the one that's funding most of the food in the family reunion because you keep bragging about your investments, it's a funny thing to happen but there's times that things can get worse for you and it's something that's preventable. Minding your own business will always be the thing that you'd have to be thinking about.

329  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Tuloy Ang pag Ban Ng Binance Sa Pinas At Posibleng Dahilan. on: April 03, 2024, 03:01:05 AM

~

Hindi naman agad ganun nangyari last time eh, di ba nga umabot ng halos isang taon bago magpump papuntang all-time high yung bitcoin?
331  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Ano nangyari?

332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shitcoin games in exchanges on: April 02, 2024, 04:37:26 PM
Don't bet on them, they're only profitable to those inside the pump and dump circle of that group, you're wasting your money investing in those shitcoins that you're saying because they're not going to go back up again. Most of the time, these shitcoins have only like a few owners and they just create all of this to create the illusion that there's a growth in their "altcoin" when in reality, it's just a get rich quick scheme for them. It's going to a hard life for you OP if you continue to do this, you're probably better off waiting for airdrops, at least in most cases for airdrops, you don't really have to spend money to get their tokens.
333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sam Bankman-Fried, the "Crypto King" jailed for 25 years on: April 02, 2024, 03:56:26 PM
Good, at the least it's a win for us plebs that are getting screwed over by these men in suits daily, I just hoped that a parole isn't going to be a thing for him, I advise that you shouldn't feel bad about this guy no matter how much the media paints it, this man made the lives of their bottom line which are the investors from different walks of life miserable and I think that it's a good thing that this person at the least experiences the misery that he and his associates had inflicted to these people, I just wish that people that are still trying to get their money back from FTX would get what they deserve and more, makes for another reason why we can't trust CEX anymore.

I was just kidding...
My specialty is not pie, but chocolate fondant and strawberry charlotte. But my modest apple tart was still pretty good, I didn't want to add whipped cream, meringue or anything I don't like. If I can't win, I at least want to be able to eat the tart  Grin
Dude, that's even more delectable especially anything that's got a strawberry in it, I'm all for it. I think that's what matter the most, you add only the stuff that you'd want to eat, I don't think that it's even logical to do any kind of extravagance just for the sake of winning and then at the end of the day you'll throw it away because you've added stuff that you don't even want to eat.
336  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Implications of War on Individuals on: March 31, 2024, 09:37:58 AM
- do you have any survival tips during war period?
First of all, this is an insane question, there's no way that this can ever be answered by anyone that has live their whole lives at a relative peace, war is a freak occurrence and it shouldn't ever be a thing that would lead people towards that event, the only survival tip that I can recommend is to get rich, you've got more chances of living if you've got more money since you can just easily hire a smuggler to get you out of the warzone and quickly seek asylum to a different country.
- are there any business that I can do during a period of war so as to sustain my family? Can I still budget, save and earn in Bitcoin?
I don't think that's the first thing that you should think of, in a war, it's going to be almost lawless in the warzone so you first need to survive before you can do anything, when you're in an asylum, you'd be able to think of that thing but others will also be doing the same so make sure that your business is going to be unique. Regards to businesses benefiting from war, there's the weapons dealer as the top career that makes the most money out of it, the more ammo and guns you sell, the more you'll be able to rake in, in terms of cash.
- What is the economic impacts on individuals with families and how do I sustain them during war period.
Again, with my second answer, don't worry about it and make sure that you're all alive and outside of the warzone, the economy in a war is in shambles, you don't have to worry about it as people that should be dealing with it are already dealing with it anyway.
337  Economy / Economics / Re: Lock your bank balance on: March 31, 2024, 08:36:21 AM
I think it's called a time deposit, you store a certain amount of money in the bank and it will never be moved in a certain span of time, it's probably the most awesome way of ensuring that you've got a money at a certain time that it becomes available to be taken out, that's what a lot of rich people in my country do, they put in a time deposit for each of their kids and even themselves so in the case that they ever need money at some point in time, they would have it without any worry. Another benefit of time deposit is that it grows at an annual rate but the rate is too low to matter but then again, most of them store that money for about 10 to 20 years so that growth might be negligible right now but when that 20 years passes, you'd be thankful and wished that you've got more annual rate in that time deposit.
338  Economy / Economics / Re: How does one know and join the right community after a job loss? on: March 31, 2024, 07:56:28 AM
I don't know what you're getting at but I can see your point of trying to use a hobby of yours if you've got any that you would hone so you can earn from it but I got to tell you though, that's not a good way to have a hobby because you're going to be miserable still, don't just suddenly make that hobby your side hustle, learn to ease into it or you'd risk getting burned out, do it little by little and you would know that the right time has come when you finally can use that hobby to get paid. Talk with people that are in your circle, learn what jobs are open, earn connections so in the case that you'd want to pursue turning that hobby into your way of making money then you'd never have a problem with customers because you'd have the support of your friends that you've got because you've forged connections and networks.
339  Local / Pilipinas / Re:Crypto Taxation on: March 31, 2024, 06:35:38 AM
