1261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I took a proposal to my State Governor to accept Bitcoin Technology on: September 15, 2023, 03:58:35 AM
A child in Secondary school is more than qualified to have some information about bitcoins. It can really help them to make decisions earlier. If the state has a young governor who understands the benefits that the knowledge of bitcoins and cryptocurrency will have on the children of the state will not delay in accepting this proposal to have it introduced to secondary school students. I really like it. When I joined this forum, I was inspired to make promotional stickers for bitcoin, it helped a lot of people, this your initiative and plan will help a lot more people and a good thing is that it is from an early age.
I don't know about that, I feel like bitcoin is a pretty specific topic and it's really unlikely that a child would be able to understand it even if we were careful about the terms that we are using for teaching them. Maybe basics in reading and reading comprehension first before putting them into something like this.

It's an outstanding thing to do OP to be able to have a conversation with your governor about this topic, Nigeria is such an excellent country because iirc, it's been active in crypto space and the crypto users in there are steadily growing, I don't have the data to back it up though but a governor supporting bitcoin is a milestone for Nigeria since the influence is state wide.

Anything else I can try here?
I searched your problem and this is one of the link that popped up. It's not the same problem as you got though

1263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will the bitcoiners realize bitcoin is just fiat with enforced tax on: September 09, 2023, 10:00:59 AM
Dude was such a troll, leaving such a controversial topic and then not replying for days and people are still mad about and tries to explain it to OP, as if he/she cares. Don't waste your energy putting scathing comments on this post because it will fall on deaf ears. Besides, it's just words, we know what bitcoin is and what isn't so we should be better Grin.
1264  Economy / Economics / Re: Is space mining creating market differences and on-earth-inflation? on: September 06, 2023, 07:23:59 AM
It will definitely create a difference in the market for a lot of precious metals and resources because we're not limited to our planet to mine these minerals. I don't have much knowledge about mining and helium or gold market but the one thing that I'm sure of is when there's an abundance to a material and there's a lot of demand for it, the price will definitely go down but that's not the absolute result if space mining becomes a thing, take note that we need different sellers/miners in the market so there's competition and people have a choice which one they should buy but if space mining is monopolized or cornered by one company/country then expect no price changes in those minerals.
1265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency restrictions in some countries is a blessing in disguise. on: September 06, 2023, 05:29:36 AM
One of the biggest advantages of Bitcoin is unrestricted cross border transfer of wealth, which is good in countries where there are conflict and where people might have to leave their country in emergencies.
A double edged sword in my opinion, that scheme can be done by people who try to smuggle money out of the country, it's not laundering necessarily as you aren't questioned when you're in a different country where your money came from unless you're a wanted criminal and infamous for stealing large amounts of money.

Regarding bitcoin being banned in a country as a blessing, I do agree with that because I believe that when a product or service is restricted or prohibited in some way and the demand doesn't go down, the price of that banned product or service will go up, I mean look at illegal drugs, the state prohibits and criminalizes the usage but with an increasing demand it's still lucrative for some to risk it.
1266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hope is all I have left on: September 03, 2023, 02:25:00 PM
I don't know what answer you want OP, because you seem like you want the comfort of a lie and I think it's not a good thing because you're going to be facing reality even if you're trying to avoid it. If you can't afford to buy bitcoin, then why not improve on a skills that you can market here like programming, writing, translating and many other stuff, there are different ways to make money and I think we should do something about our worries while we complain about it. You can probably get ideas on what jobs some people in the forum is looking for in Services and Service Discussion board, in fact, explore the whole Marketplace board to see the bigger picture.
1267  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FBI stops Qakbot and seizes crypto in the process on: September 01, 2023, 01:08:23 PM
~
I couldn't agree more, wasn't that clever of them? What the FBI seized was only but a fraction of what they have stolen from people in 2008. If randsomware has been going since 2008 just think of all the crypto in addition to USD funds I mean it's got to be billions and billions we are talking here.
Here's a link to help you wrap your head around how frequent the attacks are and how much damage the analysts predict in the next 8 years, helps you imagine the money that they can get from ransomware attacks.
1268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Irrefutable evidence that mixers alone are unsuitable for money laundering! on: August 31, 2023, 08:38:19 PM
Most of the business which are in money laundering are no longer using these Mixers. They have much better options to use rather using Bitcoin. They can simply buy XMR (Monero) and use that as it's a private blockchain. No transaction can be tracked. And then you can even use Monero to then get it converted into real fiat money. And yes, that's true. Mixers alone are no longer suitable for money laundering.
Mixers are old school, I don't even know why you want to risk tainting your coins in there when Monero does the job for you at a much more efficient way and less hassle because it's pretty straightforward since it's just like any crypto albeit much more private.
Let's say 1 Billion happened via mixing what about the remaining 799 Billions? How long the government can blame the cryptocurrency for the incompetence of AML?
As long as it benefits them, they will blame cryptocurrency or better yet they will continue to use cryptocurrency as a scapegoat for their incompetences because it's that easy to blame it compared to taking responsibility in their incompetence, this shouldn't be any surprise to you since you've been in crypto space for a long time already.
1269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FBI stops Qakbot and seizes crypto in the process on: August 31, 2023, 07:14:12 PM
I think with cloud computing it put an end to most of this. Since companies just reloaded their previous backed up files instead of dealing with these scammers. Good that they were caught.
It didn't put an end to ransomware attacks, the hackers will just create new ways to exploit the current way that their ransomware attacks have been defeated, I am sure that cloud computing isn't anything that's difficult for them, as long as it's got some connection to the company's infrastructure, they're going to find a way to it. It's just that right now they are still perfecting their ways. In regards to the article, that's a pretty cool way to destroy a botnet operation, to have them destroy themselves with just an uninstaller, thank God email stuff isn't that prevalent in my country because if so, a lot of people will be getting these ransomware attacks through emails.
1270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin Helped Create Big Changes In Your Life? on: August 24, 2023, 09:52:33 AM
Bitcoin helped me not depend on my parents for money because I have a hefty amount of bitcoin during my college years, no need to ask for allowance for food and commuting to the school and I can eat whatever and whenever I want because I have the pocket money, my point is that bitcoin helped me learn to become independent and rely on myself for things that was otherwise would've been shouldered by my parents, also taught me how to hustle.
1271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you go about realizing gains? If you opt not to, what is your reason? on: August 24, 2023, 05:28:58 AM
For me who has stopped trading a long time ago, this bearish market is an opportunity for me to convert my USDT and BUSD to bitcoin, it's not everyday that the price of bitcoin goes down to this level so definitely an opportunity worth grabbing and I think everyone should do that too because we all know that bitcoin's going to go back up and you don't want miss another profitable moment because you were hesitant to buy during this time.
1272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has nothing to do with crime on: August 17, 2023, 08:44:58 AM
Bitcoin isn't inherently a privacy coin; rather, it stands as a genuinely decentralized cryptocurrency. Your level of privacy is determined by the measures you take to safeguard it, given that Bitcoin transactions are publicly accessible. If I possess your specific Bitcoin address, I can still trace your activities. Bitcoin's objective is to establish a decentralized payment system, eliminating the need for third-party intermediaries.
That's what makes bitcoin a stand out among the pile of shitcoins and competing cryptocurrency out there, it protects you but at the same time is flexible enough that you can still find the culprit if they use bitcoin as one of their implements to commit a crime. I like the idea of bitcoin being neutral but I also don't want criminals to use this to be able to get away with their crimes, it just seems so unfair and I believe that any crimes should be punished in a just manner but I do agree that it's not bitcoin we should blame because it's not the problem, the real problem is the incompetence of the cybercrime policing around the globe, they should already know that technology is innovating fast so they should never stop learning about the new ways that someone can commit crimes online.
1273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal UK To (Temporally) Halt Bitcoin and Crypto Purchases on: August 16, 2023, 04:34:16 PM
The only thing that I can think of regards to this is who are still using PayPal to purchase bitcoin? Didn't someone in this forum posted about the issues that they've when they used PayPal to buy bitcoin there? And if this is going to be true and that there's a possibility that it might affect the prices, I guess it's a high time for us to accumulate as much USD we have right now because you don't want to miss out when the price of bitcoin plummets.
1274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrong way to accumulate. on: August 16, 2023, 03:37:28 PM
What are your own thoughts on wrong ways you think people follow in  bitcoin accumulation.
It's wrong to set a limit to your bitcoin accumulation especially if you're not a rich person, if you're able to DCA to slowly accumulate your bitcoin, I don't see the point of stopping at some point especially if you can't really reach 1 bitcoin anytime soon, hell even at 1 bitcoin I don't think it's worth to stop accumulating because at this moment, you're racing against time when the next bullrun happens, you don't want to be stopping right now when in the next bullrun, the price floor couldn't ever become this low. Also, don't be spending your bitcoin when you don't have to, and don't buy bitcoin when you know you won't be paying the bills completely or be eating good this month, prioritize self-care over investment in bitcoin.
1275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as good store for value on: August 15, 2023, 03:13:23 PM
Assuming that everyone in this space wants just to make money out of bitcoin although I don't see how it's a bad thing or that it's something that we should frown upon isn't a good idea imo because we live in a world where money makes your life easier so what's the point of not embracing that idea instead of becoming an outcast about that idea. I think that most people in the bitcoin space are smart enough to know that bitcoin's a store of value too and it's kind of dickish of you to remind them of something that they already know.
1276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is 93% mined today, will the future be born into 100% premine like fiat on: August 14, 2023, 11:03:18 AM
OP edited the main post after I made my response, changing the topic entirely lmao. OP pretty much said that everyone — even future children(yes, the unborn) should have fair distribution of bitcoin. Like.. 🤨
Dude's a communist, that's the only explanation. We all know what happened to countries that were once communist. Now that I think about it, man's trying to be the Karl Marx of bitcoin.
1277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Bitcoin Phase are we on: August 12, 2023, 12:30:01 PM
The cryptocurrency market, including Bitcoin, is known for its volatility and cyclicality.  However, predicting with certainty which stage we are in can be a difficult task.
Predicting with certainty isn't difficult, just choose the years that you want to compare, say you want 3 year period for bitcoin then collect the graph for those periods and lay them side by side, if you were to do that, you can probably predict what might happen in the coming years based on the patterns that you've made. It's not difficult, you just need to add some effort and it's going to take some time. At the end of the day, it's just prediction and knowing that anyone can do that.
1278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: think before investing on: August 11, 2023, 10:28:11 AM
If OP's friend had shared that before he sold the property, it wouldn't have turned out this bad. But I doubt newbies won't listen to anyone's advice because they're stubborn and always think they're right. Newbies only accept our advice when they stumble and lose, only then will they learn to listen. Although, OP's friend lost all his assets, but in exchange, he learned a valuable lesson.
That's kind of weird for a newbie to not follow anyone's warning or advice if you ask me, if I was a newbie, I'd be asking a lot of questions about the stuff that I want to know about the stuff I'm getting into, that kind of attitude of leaping in faith is arrogant in my book. I guess OP's friend losing that money is a lesson learned albeit an expensive one but could've went something much better although I can't articulate what should've been done.
1279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think it's a good idea if BTC has smart contract capability? on: August 11, 2023, 06:11:06 AM
I wouldn't agree to the statement which says the smart contact facility will make bitcoin more pricey. I rather think, Bitcoin network will become sluggish and expensive if bitcoin has a smart contract facility. We have already seen a glimpse with the Ordinals. So surely I wouldn't want that kind of madness again.
Not just sluggish, bitcoin technology will have to be changed fundamentally as most smart contracts are pretty intensive in terms of computational power and integration of those complexity to the current simple technology that is bitcoin will have underlying effects. And adding smart contracts will introduce new kinds of vulnerabilities in the security of bitcoin. Plus, there's just a big difference in what we think bitcoin is and what they think bitcoin should be, a lot of us believe that bitcoin should be as it is and the only thing that we should add to it is something that has little to no downside but huge upside. And smart contracts on bitcoin will only help other networks that have smart contracts so they have less burden on their networks, I'm sure that when bitcoin has smart contracts, a lot of projects will definitely try to get in.
1280  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Paano Ka Ba Manghikayat Sa Mga Kababayan Natin on: May 03, 2023, 04:34:22 AM
