1041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Estimate halving time with block time and a calculator on: November 19, 2023, 03:53:17 AM
a lot of people are anticipating the halving event and for some they need the estimated date to know when to make the most profit i agree with you though after halving it’s gonna be followed by a rise in the market the most important thing to know is that halving is near and we should all acquire btc as soon as now
I hope that it does but what's in store for the future isn't for us to know and bitcoin has been consistent through the years on growth but the halving isn't the only factor through all these growth, last halving, it took bitcoin about a year after the halving before it reached an all-time high. I can agree with you though about having to accumulate as much bitcoin as possible as soon as possible, you will never know if this is the last time that bitcoin will touch this price for the better and you will end up with regret not having to buy at this price when bitcoin finally has $100k as a price floor.
1042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really too Expensive? Then Buy Satoshis on: November 19, 2023, 03:20:37 AM
This is what everyone should understand especially newbies. It's fortunate to be able to start investing in Bitcoin without the need to have a whole 1 Bitcoin. Most people who heard Bitcoin for the first time and suddenly know its value will immediately say that it's impossible to invest now as the price is too expensive to afford by a normal person. Without knowing they can buy a fraction of it and still be profitable in the long run.

Newbies should know that there's no need to purchase a whole 1 Bitcoin, they can initiate the investment as long as they are interested in investing, can provide a certain amount for their own investment, are willing to learn about the technology, and are patient enough for the investment to grow.
The problem with those people is that when they've heard about the price and say that it's expensive, it's because they didn't do any research that you can buy in fractions or satoshis so they end up saying that to other people that unfortunately asks them about bitcoin which in turn discourages those people that would've been eager to invest in bitcoin if they only knew better but that's misinformation for you, there's no way that we can eradicate that all at once so small steps and make sure that we contribute to the information drive that seeks to properly educate people on bitcoin.
1043  Other / Meta / Re: Save your nice merit records here - LAST UPDATE: 12/07/2023 on: November 19, 2023, 02:58:55 AM
Thank you salad daging!

Indeed one one zero zero is nice  Cheesy
However I am more waiting for 2828 merits (still a long way before having them lol), since it's a special number for me
Hope that you post it yourself when you get to 1111, that would be a pretty cool merit record to watch out too, there's probably a lot of funny number combinations that you will be seeing on your Bitcointalk journey as long you are constantly getting the merit. 1234 or even the year that you were born or 1960 which is arguably the best concerts from the best bands to attend to.

Edit: Should be 1234 XD
1044  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is politics everyone's business? on: November 19, 2023, 02:28:23 AM
The politicians decide the policies that will run the country to prosperity or to destruction so I think that everyone who lives in there has a business as to how the country should be ran but the problem with everyone has a say, there will be bad apples that will try to voice out their opinions that are so stupid and will only benefit the few so my answer to this would be that politics is everyone's business technically but there still should be a level of moral and utilitarian guideline and common sense to consider the opinions of the masses because when people gather, they can't think for themselves so they just let the majority win when it comes to opinions.
1045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme. on: November 18, 2023, 08:48:56 AM
Bitcoin right now probably can't make you rich, but it can help give a good boost to your net worth — obviously due to price appreciation, and depreciation of fiat currencies.

Bitcoin isn't a get rich quick scheme, it's a not-get-poorer scheme.
That's one way to look at bitcoin, probably the belief that it's a get rich quick scheme persisted this long because bitcoin's growth came out of nowhere for many people, bitcoin wasn't in the radar of many people at that time that it was slowly growing so it's surprising for many, also have to include that there are scammers out there that are using bitcoin for their evil schemes and so they sell bitcoin to their victims in a way that you can become an instant millionaire or something like that so they can attract these people into buying whatever scam that they are selling.
1046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Investment, Beyond "Invest What You Can Afford to Lose" on: November 18, 2023, 08:13:01 AM
I hope everyone here knows that this "Invest what you can afford to lose" adage has a limit in terms of amount, now what I mean by that is that those words will not make any sense when the amount goes around million or even a hundred thousand depends on how valuable your currency is but my point is that when you start to invest it's gonna be easy but when you continue, the amount will go up and you really can't say to yourself that you won't mind losing that money anymore.
1047  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you still advised more buy and store? on: November 18, 2023, 07:29:35 AM
It does matter that you have a plan on how you buy your bitcoin be it DCA or having your own buying routine but with all those in mind, I think what matters the most is that you are buying consistently to increase what you are currently hodling because if you aren't consistent then what's the point of those plans that you have? My advise to OP is to be consistent with buying every month no matter how small the amount is as long as you are buying every month then your bitcoin will only just go up no matter what, another advise that I can give you is to buy a lot of bitcoin if you can when the prices are down and when people are anxious about the bitcoin price, that's a good time to buy bitcoin.
1048  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Must Read: Scams disguised as premium signal groups/channel on: November 18, 2023, 06:44:42 AM
I think it's a common sense that no one can predict the market so it should also be a common sense when someone is trying to get you into a signal group and that their calls are accurate to the teeth which most of them tells you so you join in their group. I can tolerate those free signal groups but the ones that are asking to be paid is just deplorable like dude, how can you make this kind of mistake? You should be building a community but then again, money is such an attractive thing so they always go for making their groups a paid one even though the predictions are off or not even that accurate. Unless someone in that signal group is doing insider trading and many other things which I doubt a thing that someone with insider knowledge do which is creating a signal group, with insider trading you should just do what Bernie Madoff did.
1049  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are there any companys offering insurance policys for crypto exchanges ? on: November 18, 2023, 04:37:36 AM
Read "about us" on any exchange. When an operational license is awarded, a centralized exchange is automatically subject to regulation and becomes part of the supervision of the authority where the license was issued. As far as I know, there is no special protection offer for certain customers, you must have legal representation and get your own insurance to cover the risk of loss.
What does this mean though? If the CEX that I use has an operational license in Country A and I live in Country B, I would be part of the asset protection if there is one in the CEX that I use right? Or it's a matter of jurisdiction and like you've said I have to get my own legal representation to have my own crypto insurance? This kind of legal and insurance or asset protection maze that CEX creates is the reason why I don't have my bitcoins in any of them, I'm better off having to lose my bitcoins and crypto out of my own carelessness rather than them having my bitcoins and other crypto on their custody with the possibility of them shutting down and taking everything they have there with them at their departure.
1050  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]: Scam/Phishing Curve Website on: November 18, 2023, 04:05:40 AM
~
First you need to know the domain's registrar/host, you can find it on whois[1].
Usually scammers use namecheap, to report them you can just go to their report page[2] and select "Abuse reports" then you can choose different options together with phishing, scam etc.
If the registrar/host is different, you can just google using this keyword "registrar_name  abuse report" say "godaddy abuse report" or "hostinger abuse report", google with show it's support center or contact page where you can submit and file the report. Usually you only need an email, either its a temp email or not, but using gmail or reputed mail services is recommended then include even a short explanation why the domain is scam.

[1] https://www.whois.com
[2] https://support.namecheap.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit
I guess I'll have to stick with Google reports, I don't think that Namecheap support ticket is for me, I can't really make up an email address and I don't like using my personal email address for this kind of stuff, a big help nonetheless for replying for an answer, maybe the diversity of the report in different support sites is much more helpful to the removal of this scam websites.
1051  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Fake transaction accelerator that requires typing your seed phrase!!! on: November 18, 2023, 03:19:51 AM
Lol, these scammers never rest  Cheesy

Given the recent spike in Bitcoin Transaction fees, they are probably going to create more of this fake bitcoin transaction accelerators to pounce on unsuspecting newbies.
Reported, I haven't included my email address for follow up, but I hope they act on removing the phishing site soon
Think of these scammers as businessmen that sees any events that they witness as an opportunity like how a normal honest and even evil businessmen sees the need to be filled, they want to make sure that if there's a demand for that service that they will be able to capitalize on it and their only difference to a businessmen is that they don't have the skills to do the services and so they lie and cheat for a living. There's going to be a surge in these scams that are like this because like a scum that they are they will always be present. When everyone finally learns to avoid stuff that are too good to be true, maybe we will see these people that don't have a lot of good things to do with their time finally give up scamming people but that part where everyone where they avoid stuff is going to be a hard task and almost an impossible dream. Good catch OP, hope that you have the energy and will to catch more of this because there's more coming with the ever increasing bitcoin transaction fees.
1052  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fake/Phishing Defillama Website on: November 18, 2023, 02:47:51 AM
What is a Homoglyph Attack? Does this attack have something to do with text being similar with the original website since Homo means similar and glyph is similar to text or runes? The resemblance definitely is uncanny but if you are using Defillama, the logo would be a dead giveaway already, I would give them bonus points for making it as similar as possible to the original website. You also should post the original website so other users like me can see the difference since you've said that even the domain name is almost indistinguishable. Good catch OP, hopefully you can catch more and you have reported this to what registry they have registered the domain so it can be taken down.
1053  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should we rely on prediction? on: November 17, 2023, 08:45:35 AM
You can depend on a prediction when you know the ability of the predictor because is not all people that predict bitcoin that knows the analysis of bitcoin sometimes they predict wrongly because they feel to lead people into trouble or make people to lose, so believing prediction it depends on the predictor because not all that predict the price of bitcoin all knows it, both signals givers sometimes they do that to gather firms why they know things, it is good for you to predict on your own with out relying on someone else, so I believe that bitcoin prediction should be something that you should believe fully because alot of predictors make a mistake during their prediction
That's not going to be enough because prediction will still be a prediction, it means that even if they were right the last time, it's not a guarantee that they will be right on their other future market predictions. In fact, it could be only be a coincidence that they were able to be correct about their prediction so be careful about following people that are saying that were right about their predictions last time because they might be wrong this time. Maybe if those predictors are able to give some information that can back up their predictions that is in a way convincing and is plausible to happen but that's going to be one hell of an information to be presented that you will be able to convince people to believe your predictions in my opinion, it's not just some simple stuff like what's currently happening but something that will affect even those outside the market.
1054  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Market Chart November and December 2023!! on: November 17, 2023, 07:38:29 AM
We have touched the price of $37,000, all of which are confirmatory indicators, that we will reach $45,000 before the end of the year, even if I do not exaggerate during the next two weeks.
The price was for a long time below the 30,000 support level, and once it is broken, the price will try to test higher levels before we reach a stability point at $34,000 for the next four months, if the upward trend continues to be 42,000 to 45,000.
$45,000 isn't a bad number but I think that with the way the market moves right now, I think that bitcoin will be able to go to $50,000 before or by the end of the year. If the hype surrounding the ETF spot continues to go much higher, we will probably see bitcoin go more than we expect it to be and it's not an unlikely scenario for bitcoin to do, bitcoin's known for surprising everyone so just hold on to your bitcoins for now and don't sell when the price that you want to sell hasn't appeared yet or you can sell at December 31 if the price is still going strong because January is definitely a bad month for bitcoin so take some profit before the year ends and then get back when January comes to give the bitcoin market some red days.
1055  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price $45k by ending of 2023: AI prediction on: November 17, 2023, 07:01:13 AM
Given how AI and markets both work in similar ways, I’m curious how accurate AI models will be when it comes to Bitcoin. It would make sense to me if AI were able to predict things better than people when it comes to Bitcoin, considering Bitcoin is in my opinion less manipulatable than traditional investments.
Not that accurate although I can't be so sure of that because I don't have the paid version of ChatGPT so my conjecture is incomplete. Bard AI is up to date but I've tried to use it and it's giving me an incomplete and inaccurate data since it's still in it's experimental stage. There's probably other AI that's more suited to trading out there that I don't know so my opinion on AI is incomplete or inaccurate too. When I used these two AI models, it just listed factors that could influence bitcoin price movement and their prediction on it and the factors that the AI has given is pretty much generalized so you can't really get anything out of it.
1056  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Loan defaulted by [Edwardard] on: November 17, 2023, 06:29:11 AM
Earning money is not a charity, you got that wrong.
It would be a charity if he doesn't charge a % fee.
Seeing the amount of customers and the amount of defaults I think it's still a good business. Of course when he loses a high amount it looks really bad but that's the risk of giving these loans unfortunately.
Maybe there should be a harder limit for amounts and not as high as 1000$.

Or if you want to give 1k loan then it should only go to very reputable people in the forum. There are so many Legendary and Hero accounts here, not everybody should have the same limits since some accounts just spam this forum for signature gains ( like most of the accounts promoting stake for example).
It's a charity if the loan was defaulted which is going to be the case in this one. It definitely is a good business and I think that @shasan should be raising his interest rates given that his service is a non-collateral loan which in my opinion is justified. If there's a tally or some spreadsheet to see the money that @shasan has earned and lost in doing this loans, I think that's when we can say that @shasan's loan service is a success but for now, I would take your word with a grain of salt and say that @shasan should either stop doing non-collateral loans or have some adjustments for his requirements to get a loan. Your second statement can't be the absolute truth because there are still scums out there that doesn't care about their reputation and will default a loan even if their rank is so Hero Member and above, being a scum loan defaulter don't really have limits and it can be anyone on any rank.
1057  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How much was the price of Bitcoin when you started trading? on: November 17, 2023, 05:58:15 AM
Bitcoin's playing around the 10k price point when I started to get serious about it and invest. Eventually I dropped it completely after a tumultuous crypto run that literally took everything that I have and more.
If you may, can you describe to everyone what it feels like to have everything that you have taken from you? I assume that it's a devastating thing for you to happen but our assumption of what you've felt after that is different and much more accurate. The time that you've started trading is a pretty rocky time for crypto because that's around pandemic right? So I can probably see what happened to you during that time, a lot of people faced difficulties during that time so in a way a lot shares your problem although it's not the same level since it can never be truly measured.

I can't remember the time that I've started trading or what price it was because it was such a long time and it's an on and off thing since I've done trading even when I was still in college so it's easy for me to forget but maybe I can say I've started even before the pandemic so probably around 5k to 8k. I envy those that have started trading back when bitcoin was still around 100 dollars, imagine if you were trading at around 1 to 5 btc at that time and then you stopped trading then you came back to it.
1058  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and War Crimes? on: November 17, 2023, 02:59:58 AM
War is a complete different situation than the pandemic. A lot of fiat is spent in a war and it does affect the countries participating in that war economically. Bitcoin is not a country specific currency it is a global currency and therefore I feel we won't see much happening in the cryptocurrency market.
That's to be decided, we will never know if bitcoin will be used to buy weapons secretly because that's how a lot of arms dealer or country do their work when it comes to not causing any problem for them but still doing business with those country and bitcoin is in the right position for them to utilize it's pseudonymity. Their only problem now would be how to launder that money so there's really no way that those weapons that they've sold won't be traced to them. If worst comes to worst then I am sure that bitcoin will be a token used in war and there's nothing we can do about it, we just have to bear the burden that there are evil uses for bitcoin while at the same time enjoying the profits of the bitcoin that we're hodling.
I don't think that the ongoing war crimes between Gaza and Israel have an impact on the Bitcoin trend like you think. The crypto market is influenced by a myriad of factors, and predicting its movements can be challenging. We really don't know if geopolitical tensions can contribute to market fluctuations if can they are just one piece of the puzzle. I think it could affect the global financial markets if this conflict escalates and spreads. It will depend on how investors perceive its role in times of crisis.
Just like how the world events can move the stock markets and the global markets, I am sure that bitcoin isn't immune to the influence of that stuff especially with more people that are using bitcoin as the years go by, it is inevitable that with more people knowing about bitcoin, the more people there are that will use it for evil purposes like in this theory of mine that they will use bitcoin to secretly pay for weapons that will be sold to the both sides secretly.
1059  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]: Scam/Phishing Curve Website on: November 17, 2023, 02:35:43 AM
That's true based in my experience of many reports i have submitted to them.
While on the other hand, google ad phishing/scam website on google search page is different which is where most phishing/scam sites can be seen. That's why its good to report the site directly on their hosting service for immediate action.
How can I report on the domain hosts directly? Do I need to create an account there to do a report or is it the same thing as reporting with Google where there is no need to log in to do a report, I like my anonymity kept to some degree when I do this kind of stuff, it's a hassle for me to take the extra step so you have to forgive me on that part.
Site is already down or moved to other server. The domain is quite new and I hope no scam would be done. Hackers will make new sites and we couldn't stop it. he will create 10 more If he success to steal one wallet fund. I used Curve to complete the Layer3 task to get XP and your provided screenshot is totally match with real site and it's very difficult to detect phising in first look. bookmarking real sites is very important to be avoid from getting scam. We should also double check the real site before connecting (usually I do).
That just means that this discussion board will never run out of threads and the scambusters would never lose their jobs although I do get your concern about the scammers just creating more clone of this like the mythical hydra, I just hope that more and more people learn how to identify scams everyday because when there's less gullible people that are falling for these scams then the more it is that scammers will be discouraged to create this websites.
1060  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Are this scam sites or real? I am guessing they are scam sites on: November 17, 2023, 01:44:29 AM
I vouch for BTCNITRO.
Used them YESTERDAY night to accelerate a transaction for me that would otherwise take MANY DAYS to confirm, cuz a son of a bitch sent me with stupid low fees.

And they confirmed my transaction within 9 hours after payment !

So i vouch for their service, they are DEFINITELY not a scam (They also have good reviews on trustpilot, although small, but sure)

here's proof from within my email (Same avatar from my scam report case at casino.guru against BC.GAME site)
so i'm a real experience-based feedback here.
Your red trust in your account although unrelated to this thread, I think is still relevant to your trustworthiness because who exactly are you to be able to vouch for the site alone, maybe if there are multiple accounts that have a reputable users that will also vouch for what you are doing then there's a possibility that this site is trustworthy and this kind of site needs a lot of vouching from different people because accelerators are a pretty useful tool for bitcoin transactions right now so the possibility of scam websites trying to make money from the hype is at an all-time high.
