1181  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the need to be known a requirement to qualify for a loan(s)? on: October 27, 2023, 10:02:31 AM
If every person on this planet is honest and has integrity, the need to be known wouldn't even be a qualification for loans because if everyone is honest then everyone is going to be paying their loans no matter what but we don't live in that kind of world where if you show a weakness, someone will definitely exploit it. I think that for loans, it's an understandable thing for them to do because they're lending money and they have to have some kind of guarantee that they can get back on their loan after all, no one gave a loan because they're charitable and they really want to help.
1182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin kwoledge is not complete without bitcoin investment on: October 27, 2023, 08:57:39 AM

First off, not everyone can tell relevant from irrelevant information. Its real! An understanding of human nature shows that some people store information without using it. As you noted, knowledge without context is useless. Undiscerning knowledge is like a ship without a compass. While you're right that builders may not gain directly from studying the earth's crust, theres a distinction between superficial and in-depth knowledge. It boils down to knowing your urgent needs. Knowledge and wisdom must be linked. Only then can one efficiently navigate the massive information sea.
That's why I said to acquire some wisdom so they can easily tell the relevant and irrelevant information and easily sift through it, and you can easily gain that by practicing your critical thinking skills, to me, that's the only way that you can gain wisdom or improve your wisdom. Also, I have to disagree with you that not everyone can tell the relevant from the irrelevant, not all information is hidden or needs you to have an in-depth analysis to see what you need and what you don't need, common sense exists in every person so I don't see how it's an excuse.
1183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Startup says it can access $235M in locked bitcoin — but owner says ‘no thanks’ on: October 27, 2023, 07:58:20 AM
I guess my question is, why would someone want to own a device that self destructs like that? More often than not, the only thing its going to cause is a huge inconvenience to the person that owns it. This isn't the first story I've heard like this either.

I think this type of device has gone out of style though but i could be wrong.
That's cause at that time that they bought that device was a trend and probably it looks cool at that time to have that kind of storage device where if you're wrong then it's going to lock you out, I think that's still being used by people that are paranoid about their security today and that kind of security will definitely not go out of style imo. The people that have bought those didn't really knew at the time of the purchase that they're going to losing the password to that device so you really can't blame them, being complacent for too long almost always makes someone shocked when the thing that they're trying to prepare for happens. This is just my suspicion but I feel like the reason Stefan didn't accept the help is probably there are other things there that he don't want that company to see or he just don't want to break promise on the first people that have offered help breaking that lock.
1184  Economy / Economics / Re: World Debt Clock by nations. on: October 26, 2023, 04:20:43 PM
The U.S. is still the world's leading debtor; should the US be happy that they are the world's most indebted country? The question is, can the US pay off such a huge debt of 33 trillion dollars?
Most of their debts are from their own banks so they really don't have to hustle it out to pay those debts and the US government owns the Treasury anyway, I don't think that we're going to see US ever paying those debts.
We should consider that it is growing and that it can quickly snowball into a huge problem, if the country has to go to war. (USA are already funding several wars all over the world)  Roll Eyes
They've considered that a long time ago, I don't think that the debt will go in the trillions if the government knows it's going to be bad for them. Oh, they're not funding those wars, they're selling those arsenals that they've sent there, it's not charity that they're doing in those warzones, the US is doing business there, what they're funding are covert ops or rebellions because they're cheaper compared to a real war, why release all these money when you already have the weapons that you can rent to them.
1185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Maybe I should have taken this risk earlier. on: October 26, 2023, 10:07:40 AM

On the contrary, I don't agree with people who invest in Bitcoin using money that will be used elsewhere, it's quite risky, it's better to invest using unused money, it's safer.
Moreover, within 4 or 5 months the money that will be invested will be used, remember that the price of Bitcoin is very volatile and there is no guarantee that in the next 4 or 5 months the price will increase, that is excessive risk taking.
Learn first about Bitcoin then decide to invest, I'm sure people who want to invest and make profits quickly don't learn about it first, they just hear the news and are interested in getting the profits they see.
That's why I was not on his side when OP said that he plans to invest that college fund into bitcoin because it's a headache for OP's parents and him if the price tanked somewhere between the time that they need that college fund expended. If OP did do it, OP would've followed your advice about learning about bitcoin but the hard way but it didn't happen which is a good thing and hopefully can think clearly now with what to do with all the people that's replying on this thread giving different opinions.
1186  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Pending justice for SBF on: October 26, 2023, 09:13:35 AM
There is no perfect justice system. Every justice system is somehow corrupted. There's always a rotten part. We probably have all heard by now how SBF had been generous to powerful personalities especially politicians. And he was not only generous to the Democrats or the Republicans, he was generous to both. That's enough for us to assume that the soft treatment he's receiving right now despite all his crimes is the fruit of his generosity.
They're only rotten as we allow them to be, if the people that we put in those position are incorruptible then we will probably see a difference, yes there's no perfect justice system but I am sure that every country can create a decent, incorruptible and competent system, it's the people that don't have integrity that exist that's making these system corrupted. I didn't know about the part where SBF has sent gifts to these people of power on both sides, now that I know about it, I am sure that all of this is just a charade until things die down.
1187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the most weird thing you bought with crypto? on: October 26, 2023, 07:56:17 AM
How is buying a plot of land using crypto weird? That should've been a normal thing at the least. I think that weird kind should qualify as something that's not normally bought by a lot of people and when bought would elicit a sort of reaction that you normally show when you're disgusted or repulsed, and in based on my definition of weirdness, I think that you OP haven't bought anything weird yet which is the same for me or almost close to 80% of people that are buying stuff using crypto or bitcoin.
1188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to build a career with bitcoin? on: October 26, 2023, 05:23:26 AM
Blockchain developer would probably suit you if you want to make a career out of bitcoin or you can probably do this thing where you ask the management or the payroll of your company that you're working on to pay you in bitcoins, that technically counts as you building a career with bitcoin since you're getting paid with bitcoin. So to answer your question, yes it's possible to build a career in bitcoin.
1189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Maybe I should have taken this risk earlier. on: October 26, 2023, 03:53:36 AM
If that was your money, I wouldn't disagree with your hindsight that you should've invested in bitcoin but given that it's not yours and it's for your education. I don't think that you did anything wrong and I don't think it's for the best of you to risk it now with the possibility that this pump is short-lived and followed by a big dump in the prices. You're still young and bitcoin will still be here and even if the price floor goes up in the future, the price ceiling will continue to be broken so you still have time to invest in it.
1190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it better to invest or trade Bitcoin? on: October 26, 2023, 02:56:58 AM
I wouldn't say that it depends but I would only recommend you to just invest instead of trading, unlike others who wants to say that it depends, they don't want to take responsibility. And with investing, I think that you're better off doing that compared to trading because it's safe and almost risk-free because you're in the bitcoin game for the long-term which is always a win no matter what happens in the short-term which is always unknown to the people and will always be volatile.
1191  Economy / Economics / Re: What does being rich mean in your perspective? on: October 25, 2023, 03:49:14 PM
Being rich means wealth in terms of having a lot of money and assets. Being able to earn six figures or above in a year, owning multiple businesses, owning cars, and having a big house where you can live comfortably. It also means providing yourself with everything you want, like you can buy everything around you. Every material possession you think brings you happiness.

Always remember, the meaning of being rich depends on the status of a person or how they see life. It may be about having a lot of money, or about having connections with people around you and experiencing the joy, happiness, and fulfillment of your life.
That's not rich, that's already an excess and luxurious albeit that's debatable. I don't know about you but material possession bringing you happiness is probably the saddest there is because what's that gonna fulfill? Pretty sure that you're going to be ending up wanting more material things. I agree with the last part though, we almost have the same definition in regards to that which is nice.

For me though, the definition of rich is being able to afford something without looking at it's price tag and having the ability to do your passion or the things that you want to love without the worry of where to get your next food or how you're going to pay the bill.
1192  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Mining Software Development To Earn Bitcoin on: October 25, 2023, 02:27:12 PM
Your post is just a bunch of neural network -generated word salad, so if you have an actual bitcoin mining product or service which you have already developed, you should share that here if you want to get any contact or business over it. These kind of topics are a waste of time for topic starter and for the people reading it.
I hope you don't mind me stealing that phrase "word salad" I just find it funny and amusing and at the same time delivers the point. Hopefully won't be using it in this forum as I don't plan to be an authority on what to write but I will definitely use it irl when the opportunity presents.
1193  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Are dices for generating seed words fair? on: October 25, 2023, 06:24:07 AM
~

they don't have any affect at all on the randomness apparently. as long as one does the von neuman method it doesn't matter about all of those external factors.  Undecided
just make sure to keep the conditions identical throughout the entire coin flipping process and don't let any of those factors vary. should be a piece of cake.
But if those factors don't affect the flip, wouldn't that mean your second statement should be ignored because it says to keep the conditions identical and those conditions are the factors that I have talked about right? But I guess you're right, it's not like those factors can quickly change unless there's a physical intervention.
1194  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Are dices for generating seed words fair? on: October 24, 2023, 08:12:18 PM
My gut feeling tells me this spring would create the same result every time, because the initial conditions are the same. Unless the spring tension varies, in that case the spring tension becomes your random and you need to make sure there's no bias in it. Or the way you load the coin into the machine.
Just for fun: here's a Machine Flips a Coin 10,000 Times.
Wouldn't the coin itself a factor to this too? Especially if you're not using the same coin to do the same flip on the machine and another factor is the atmosphere of the surrounding area and the hardness of the surface where the coin is going to land, the air resistance is always neglected in theory but in practical application, that's always considered right? And regarding the hardness of the surface, there's also the small grooves if the surface isn't smooth. Am I pedantic over this stuff or those can be considered a factor to the fairness of the flip?

We did that kind of experiment back in my freshmen year in college although it's a programming test where we set the times a coin is flipped and then the computer returns the results of the set times that the coin was flipped.
1195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Latest Game in my Country: Bottle Flip on: October 24, 2023, 07:30:48 PM
So, bottle flipping has resurrected in your nation, and you're enamored by it? Fascinating. It's the simplistic games that have the power to captivate, isn't it? Yet, I must say, intertwining a child's game with betting is a step too far. And adults are leading this parade, exploiting an innocent pastime for financial gain
This topic seems kind of fishy to me, how sure is OP that this bottle flipping craze is all over the country? Because I feel like this game is just too mundane to be a craze in the gambling scene in a country not to mention that it's a pretty simple game that you can easily win if you have the skill to consistently do a flip and besides what you've said, it's a step too far but if we're given more context about this game maybe we will see why this is the thing that's making craze all over OP's country.
1196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reckless gambling starts after a win round. on: October 24, 2023, 06:36:15 PM
Talking about composure, well, it isn't really easy to maintain most especially when you're lossing. I took it from my experience and other people's experiences.
I knew a few people who has been so cool while gambling as if they are in control, not getting frustrated when he losses and not getting excited when he's winning. However, it didn't take long, frustrations got him quite evident to his demeanor, then recklessly emptied his pocket eventually.
When gambling gets into your emotions, it's really hard to contain.
This I can I agree and attest, no matter how composed you are but in your games, you're actually losing big time and not making any progress, it will eventually get to you and leave you frustrated because you know that you've been cool the whole time and you've been calm at strategic changes but the win is still evading you then you can't do a thing about but let your frustrations be vented which isn't undheard of, it's just that some people don't erupt that violently when the outburst starts so people assume that people who can keep their cool is a pretty common thing in gambling but you can see it if you're not focused on your own games.
1197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are no KYC casinos taking risks? on: October 24, 2023, 10:02:38 AM
Do you think your casino can be regulated without the AML policy? The requirements says it's all, so is it possible that those casinos doing their no KYC stuffs are not even registered?
Even if the strictness of AML policy gets even more constricted, I don't think that we're going to see an end to casinos that don't do KYC, like during the time of Prohibition, the alcohol sales didn't really lowered or even the people who drinks alcohol ever go down. The only thing that a stricter AML policy does is make those KYC non-compliant more sneaky. The best thing that they can do in this case would be to get better at tracing or following the money, improving the forensic accounting department is the key to all of this problem.
1198  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling Generally An Illicit Activity? on: October 24, 2023, 09:13:35 AM
Gambling is banned in some countries and concealing money won through it can be considered as money laundering. But in countries where gambling is not banned, it can not be considered as illegal activity.

It is believed that some laundered money are sent to gambling site inorder to conceal it from its origin, but this is not what this thread is about.
That's why money launderers love gambling sites that don't do KYC, they can just easily clean their money in there albeit it's going to take them little by little since they want to be as lowkey as much as possible. I think gambling is mostly illegal in Muslim countries but I've heard that there's lottery in some of those countries so I'm weirded out that other form of gambling is illegal but lottery becomes an exception.
1199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often is your luck in gambling? on: October 24, 2023, 07:17:04 AM
Some people can't easily move out from gambling because they think that this will give them a fortune. I understand why poor people usually fall into this because they believe in luck and once they get it, they become rich instantly. Very unfortunate that they rely on their future on luck, well, maybe they are hopeless not to see any ways to improve their living other than just relying on gambling like buying lottery tickets. Even though they already have limited sources of income, they still spare money for this just to give hope (and then lose).
You don't understand enough dude because you're blaming them for that problem which could've been prevented easily if the education system of that country didn't forsake them, imagine if there's somewhere along the way of their educational journey, they were taught how to save money and why vices like gambling is such a bad decision, maybe you do understand the other part like it's their only hope of getting out of poverty because they don't know that that's how it's designed, to be a false hope for them. If these people knew how to make manage big money or were wise enough to hire a wealth manager, they wouldn't be facing this kind of problem.
1200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixing is NOT money laundering, per se on: October 23, 2023, 09:11:55 AM
If mixers have to fully identify their users before they can use them, then what the hell are they good for?
This notion basically defeated the purpose of having to use a mixer but then again if mixers want to help combat money laundering, I guess it wouldn't be such a bad idea. I guess that we have to find a way where the use of mixers aren't going to lay any suspicious eye on the people that are using bitcoin mixers. Damn, the problem of malicious entities is that they're abusing the freedom that the innocent has to enjoy is such a conundrum.
