621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to avoid a scam project? on: February 03, 2024, 03:08:56 AM
I haven't found any 100% valid rule that could be applied to find out the scam project before it scam. Cause all new project concept is kind of same. That's why to avoid scam project, need to avoid new project first. That is the most common and most suggest strategy for being scam by investing new project but if a new project has good team member or popular person who managing new project or if a new project sig partnership with a well known brand, could be consider for investment but need dyor
How about the "If it's too good to be true then it probably is" rule? I think that will definitely work 100% of the time, they promise you big bonuses or questionably high ROI then you're most likely going to be having doubts about that since that's an unlikely thing for an investment to triple your investment in a short amount of time, another foolproof thing that you can do if you can talk with the people behind the project is to ask them if this is a pyramid or a Ponzi scheme? Depending on how they would react on this question, then you'll be able to measure whether they're a scam project or a legitimate one because a legitimate one would quickly tell you that they're not and will probably present to you their business model and they'd likely laugh it off but the scam project will be defensive and hostile with that question and they won't be able to prove to you or other potential investors that their project isn't a rug pull and a scam.

623  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you take time to read the terms and conditions of casinos before registering? on: February 03, 2024, 02:04:16 AM
It's never a surprise that most gamblers don't even take their time in going through the terms and conditions of the casino they are putting in consideration right before going ahead for their registration, this is not a good habit at all and should be discouraged amidst gamblers, the way we sometimes complained about a gambling platform shows that we don't take time in reading about their requirements as stated on their rules and regulations.
It's because the terms and condition format is boring and it's hard to read that many when that's the only step that's leading to starting your gambling so you just agree with it even though it's really important that you know about it, the reason why they make it like that so the business owners can slip in unfavorable and exploitative clauses that favors them when the possibility happens which is most likely, that's why some scummy gambling websites can just put in there what they want and when the thing that they're anticipating to happen like a player using a VPN or depositing and withdrawing too fast, they can just easily block them out or make it look like they're in the right since the player agreed with the terms and conditions and it's their fault that they agreed to it without reading. Another thing that makes it a bad thing is that you can't really use their website or complete the registration if you're not agreeing to their T&C.
624  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you invest on this kind of offer? on: February 03, 2024, 01:25:47 AM
From what I understand, the investors will pool the money for your bankroll and in the case that it wins, you share the profits right? And in the case that it doesn't you will refund each and everyone that contributed to the bankroll pool right? If what I'm understanding is correct then that means that this is a win-win situation for the investors which means that I do really want to invest if that's what's offered to me, ain't no way you're losing to that anyway because after all you're returning the money anyway when the bankroll goes zero. The only problem with this gambling investment model is that it's really difficult for me to think that you wouldn't just run away or break the promise of returning the investments to the investors so with that kind of risk, it's not advisable to invest in this even if it's a really good offer, maybe it depends on your forum reputation too, are you willing to sacrifice what you've got here after all these years for a small amount that you could easily earn if you work hard and smart?
625  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To what extent have you hated yourself due to your gambling losses? on: February 02, 2024, 09:39:55 AM
I blame myself in a way that tells me to be aware of how much money I'm losing when I'm on a losing streak, I don't necessarily hate myself but shouting curses and telling myself harsh words is one way to go when it comes to making sure that I don't bottle up the anger that I'm feeling when I'm gambling and so it doesn't burst out when I'm not gambling anymore and it saves the people that I'm interacting with that I'm not cranky after gambling. So far I'm doing just fine with that kind of set up in my gambling life, I'm all out of anger after gambling and no one is annoyed with me after gambling so it's win-win for me.
626  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Since 2013 | Longest Running Crypto Casino | 113 BTC Jackpot! on: February 02, 2024, 09:00:05 AM
High rollers from what I have seen are divided, some of them want the VIP system and get treated like some king while others dont care and just want to roll high on a new account created everyday and cash out to come back on a new one. For the second group of players, I dont see the account migration thing being of any use. But the first one might want this to happen in future.

Still I dont see any effect on the staff doing anything of this sort right away, maybe in near future.
There's also the third kind of high roller, the money launderer although it can be argued that it they're also under the umbrella for the second one so I'm not completely sure that they do belong there although I do think so too that they would want that account migration so they're not so similar when it comes to this kind. The reason why they can't just implement this is probably because they don't have enough resources yet to be able to do this or have the money needed to make it into a real thing and from what I understand, they're going to need some kind of planning for this right because they might skew some of the accounts during the process.
627  Economy / Economics / Re: Why does a country borrow money from the world bank even when they can afford it on: February 02, 2024, 08:20:47 AM
It probably has something to do with the budget that a government sets for their whole operation for the year and sometimes those approved budget goes overboard because some projects got unforeseen problems that lead to overspending of the budget and what happens to that project if the fund that's used for it runs out and they can't just pull out money from the annual budget that easy because that would create a cascading effect where you allow one and then you need to allow the others to do the same thing, so you go to the financial institutions that are operating on an international scale to ask for some money because you need to fund those projects so it can continue towards finishing the project, that's how I think the country borrowing money from the world bank works.
628  Economy / Economics / Re: Quitting Smoking Has Two Big Benefits. on: February 02, 2024, 07:18:33 AM
Smoking does not only kill yourself and others through smoke but you are also killing your purse. 😅 Cigarette here in my country is quiet high in price per pack due to huge taxation. Instead of spending you hard earned or extra money on cigarettes it would be better if you save it so you can buy assets in the future like Bitcoin, precious metals, or real estate if it is sufficient enough for those specific investments.
Smokers know about that and they really don't care because they're addicted to the nicotine and they want the feeling that the cigarette gives to them so they still do it even though they know that it's bad for their body and that it's not a good thing for them, the thing that matters the most when it comes to quitting smoking is they themselves wanted to change for the better, it's something that's not influenced by how money they can save when they don't smoke, the reason is mostly personal that it's totally unique for each person and they just don't have any way to perfectly articulate that so they tell you other reasons. Also that money that could've is just a could've when it finally happens, it's a little different because when you're not smoking, you might be using that would be cigarette money for other things and I don't believe that investment is the first thing that will come to someone's mind when it comes to that extra money.
629  Economy / Speculation / Re: ETF accumluation and price impact for bull run on: February 02, 2024, 06:30:20 AM
The hype would gradually die down. Accumulation would slow down. And seeing a big potential for the price to double or even more in the next year or so, investors money could only afford so much. So I guess 500,000 all in all by the end of 2025 is realistic. But for me that includes GBTC already.
Unless they do some marketing with the ETF like how they sell stocks, it's more likely for us to see more accumulation because these companies have been wanting these ETF and I don't think that they're going to lie down and take the L for the hype dying down because they've fought for this to be approved by the SEC for so long so I don't believe they'll let it fizzle out, they might even find ways to manipulate this so they can sell more ETF to their investors. That's a really high number if you ask me, 500k in 2025 seems like a dream but seeing a lot of miracle that bitcoin has showered us before, I don't think it's far fetch to see it go to that price point, the only problem is that there's bound to be a lot of people that's going to take profit when bitcoin reaches 100k and that could be a factor for it to not reach 500k by 2025.
630  Economy / Speculation / Re: Self control cannot be neglected as an early investor on: February 02, 2024, 05:52:00 AM
Don't be too hard on yourself OP, you didn't do anything wrong buying a game, you're allowed to have fun and if the net happiness in buying that game is higher compared to investing it into bitcoin then you've got more out of that game than investing and it's not like you didn't make up for it the next day. It's not also a problem of self-control OP, you being aware that what you did feels wrong is a sign that you've got the control and to be honest, if you really feel bad about buying the game, you would've done a refund or just quickly sold it to the market the next day but you've kept it so you're doing good. You don't have to put all your money in invested, it's a good thing for you to have fun too and enjoy life.
631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Revision of High transaction fee in bitcoin. on: February 02, 2024, 05:08:49 AM
Unfortunately this is one of those issues that polarized the community. There still are a small group of people who refuse to accept that what's known as Ordinals is an attack on Bitcoin, which is why the progress on fixing the exploit this attack is abusing has been very slow and fruitless.

It is going too far to talk about bitcoin prevailing or not, just because of this attack. But you are right that this is affecting the adoption negatively.
The small group that you're talking about are people that are benefiting from all this problem with ordinals and high transaction fees, most likely they're miners and NFT people that don't have anything better to do besides leaving garbage on the network. I don't believe that it's because of this groups refusal that are causing the slow fix for this vulnerability, it's more likely that the devs can do it but they choose not to because they're probably somehow benefiting from this too because the vulnerability is already identified right? So how come they're not fixing it quickly? They probably got a long time already to fix it so what's the hold up right? I do think it affects the adoption negatively but for me, I don't think it's that big of a deal, ordinals are just like an NFT anyway, they'll eventually lose their hype and people will find new ways to get others into crypto.
632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Psychology of Investing in Bitcoin on: February 02, 2024, 04:04:23 AM
I've always said that a sharp rise or (especially) a sharp decline in Bitcoin is such a significant thing that it almost always causes strong emotions among Bitcoin holders. Or even if you are looking from the outside looking in at the growth of Bitcoin, which is happening without you, it is difficult for you to avoid very strong FOMO. Such strong emotions sometimes force a person to make hasty decisions. These are decisions that do not stem from his own trading system and are based, so to speak, on herd mentality or herd reflex. This is what makes a trader break discipline. In this case, it is most difficult for beginners. But over time, we develop some life hacks to look at the price rollercoaster with a calmer eye.
That's why you need to trick yourself into thinking otherwise, if you can find a way to make it so you're not FOMOing like if you're missing out, just lie to yourself that it's going to go down quickly and it will eventually go to a point where everyone will panic sell, just tell the opposite of what you're feeling at that time and you're going to get the relief from that recent panic or better yet if you want to really not feel that constant anxiety of investing in a volatile market like bitcoin, why not just do it my way of hodling: I buy bitcoin, I store it somewhere and then leave it there to be forgotten and not check the prices constantly, delete all the price checking apps and newsletters and only get my bitcoin price news here in the forum and so far I'm constantly chill with my investment no matter what's happening to the market. Also, it's a pretty big help too if you have a concrete price goal for your investment like what price you're going to sell your bitcoin investment or when you want to sell it, that way your only problem with is the temptation to sell which is easily staved off by discipline.
633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Numerology +WTF on: February 02, 2024, 03:14:52 AM
Don't taint the word science on something that doesn't involve something that's remotely scientific, this is basically the same thing as astrology and alchemy, in that there's no basis to the meanings behind the results that the numbers produces, it's a matter of choosing the obvious options and common bias that's exploited by the psychology of the common people that they don't do any kind of research be it a little research or an extensive to prove that something isn't right, basically, numerology is as useful as horoscopes in that regard, people subscribe to them but they don't really affect our lives unless we want it to affect it.
634  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2024-01-31] Time to end Craig Wright's harrasment campaign against Bitcoin devs on: February 02, 2024, 02:29:14 AM
Finally.  The whole bitcoin.org nonsense was a default judgement was meaningless.  CW needs to put up or shut up.  Given he could easily prove it if he were SN, I think it is pretty obvious that he is not.
Would this really shut him up though, I see CW as the kind of guy that wouldn't budge or even shut up until he gets what he wants, you know like a crybaby spoiled brat. Hopefully if this doesn't stop him totally at the least it will keep him out of the hair of the bitcoin developers because they shouldn't even be involved in all this claim anyway, I mean what do they have to do to prove him that he's Satoshi? If he can't even provide the needed things to prove that he is the one and only Satoshi Nakamoto then there's no point going all this way, it's funny that he's still able to go to this length just to do nothing.
635  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2024-01-30] What Lies Ahead for Crypto Now That the Fabled Bitcoin ETF Is Here? on: February 01, 2024, 10:02:26 AM
I think it's just more growth for bitcoin this time because I do believe that with the institution now part of the bitcoin ecosystem, it only means that there's no going back for bitcoin anymore because these financial institutions aren't here just to play the hodling game, they're definitely going to want results and they're going to be demanding that no matter what, I guess that's the price we'll pay for bitcoin having institutional investors mixed into the market, only thing that we can do for now is to see if we as retail investors be able to catch up with them or maybe even get back in the market after we start selling for profit.
636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: At a range of 2years, can a Bitcoin literate invest with a borrowed fund in BTC? on: February 01, 2024, 09:19:12 AM
Investing with borrowed money === Leverage trading. Do not do it because especially with that short of a time frame, you will be liquidated. Except the liquidation does not come from an exchange who takes it out of your balance, it comes from threats, lawsuits, court cases, and so on. Two years is way too short a time frame to make any sort of profit.
Depends, if you're really good at leverage trading then you can easily do this but if you're an amateur that's hit or miss in leverage trading then definitely don't do it because you're going to regret doing that and at the same time you're going to end up having to pay for that borrowed money for a really long time because let's face it, people have a hard time delivering the borrowed money at a promised time and day.

Any possibility to go BTC $50k again within February 2024?
Sure you can believe that it will go there but the problem is that we've already at February 1st and bitcoin is still not going to where you want it to go, are you talking about the last day of the month? If so then there's a possibility that we're going to see it.
637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first Bitcoin on: February 01, 2024, 08:43:31 AM
I recommend you to use a hardware wallet sincerely, it is the best investment you can make to secure your bitcoins, but you must take into account what use you are going to give to the bitcoin, you are going to send currently to other addreses? or just to store bitcoin? in my experience I recommend you to use as hot wallet, Exodus, user-friedly app (remember to save the seed phrase) and in the case of cold wallet, ledger or trezor could be your options but that is based on what you want ,the design, the budget etc... just hope you the best in this btc community brother and remember never ever let your coins rest in exchanges.
Whoa whoa, slow down with your recommendations, let OP breathe a little, as OP have said already, that they're new to bitcoin. I don't think OP needs to secure that fast when there are more cheaper options like a TrustWallet or a Blue Wallet for Android devices, he's already considering Electrum wallet so I don't think that it's necessary for OP to even consider hardware wallets especially those that have a close source. I'd say that OP should take his time and explore bitcoin and the forum to know more about the bitcoin landscape and see how OP will want to approach things in the future.

Welcome to the bitcoin market OP, enjoy your hodling journey and I do hope that you would find a lot of profits from doing that journey. My only advice to you is to learn DCA or Dollar Cost Averaging, pretty good strategy for long term bitcoin accumulation because you don't want to be not maximizing out your investing opportunities if you can help it.
638  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your multi-bet (paroli) strategy? on: February 01, 2024, 07:23:39 AM
Is it Paroli or Parlay? I've been into gambling for a while now but this is my first reading about Paroli. I checked the definition and it's not the same as what you're saying. It's not anything like multi-bet but it's like the opposite of a martingale betting strategy. You double your bet your wager wins.
That's as risky as Martingale strategy, but you're still banking on Gambler's fallacy that you'd be able to win more because you believe that you've got a winning streak and that your chances of losing is close to zero, it's kind of like trying to get more ahead than what you should be but I don't know if it's effective as it is because you're basically pulling out more money out of your pocket to supplement the doubling of the bet from your win which will only get bigger as you continue winning but it will probably end the same way, with you losing more money than you should because you've tempted fate and you thought your win streak is unstoppable. I don't think there's even a strategy in this because it's already a strategy.
639  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there Casinos that offer Birthday Bonuses to their users? on: February 01, 2024, 06:43:26 AM
Unless it's a physical casino, I wouldn't mind it but so far, I haven't seen any online casinos that are a giving that kind of bonus because birthdays are a personal info if I recall and I don't think that it's a really good idea that they know about that kind of information right? Maybe if they do KYC but I don't think that they'll ever care about that kind of bonuses anyway maybe you'd get some sort of bonus spin or gambling credit but that's not going to help you in increasing your chances of winning.
640  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: VPN - Differences between countries where gambling is legal and not on: February 01, 2024, 06:07:12 AM
Example is that gambling is banned in China, but some Chinese are gambling online in foreign countries and also in their country. VPN is used to block the IP used. You will see some gamblers that read the ToS of a gambling site and if VPN is allowed, they might gamble on the site from countries that gambling is not legal. That is just it. This can be common to gambling sites that are not well known and not regulated.
That's also how Chinese still makes money out of gambling by using Macau as a gambling hub for a lot of people. I think that even if the country of origin of the player is from a country that bans gambling, I think that they should still be allowed because they've got the VPN and in argument, they're technically or digitally in their own country gambling so they're technically and digitally allowed to gamble and that they shouldn't be punished at all, it's kind of weird that gambling industry doesn't care about this part when this could potential bring them millions of players from another country that have a strict laws against gambling, some people out there are itching to spend thousands of dollars gambling but they just can't do it because they live in a country that's not in favor of gambling, the online gambling industry is missing out by restricting players that have VPN from playing in their online casinos.
