1081  Economy / Economics / Re: Being rich = not looking at price tag on: November 14, 2023, 06:32:27 AM
I often read people saying they want to earn enough money so they don't have to look at price tag of product. Imo, even if you are rich you wouldn't want to spend money on things that are not worthy of price being paid.

You wanna look at product and then it's price, if it's worthy of price, you purchase the product.
I'm betting you that once you're so rich, you will definitely not look at the price tag, you are saying that right now because you're not rich or anything like that but once you're there, it's a whole different ball game. You'll probably only worry about the price tags if it costs you a million dollars or probably billion dollars but the hundred thousand levels price tag, you're not going to be worried about those anymore.
1082  Economy / Economics / Re: Agriculture vs oil on: November 14, 2023, 06:10:49 AM
You pose a false dichotomy, especially since agriculture today is highly dependent on oil. Fields are tilled with power tillers or tractors, grass is cleared with weed cutters, many crops are mechanized, like modern olive harvesting which is picked by machine, many fertilizers are derived from oil, etc. Without oil, agriculture would not have even 20% of its current productivity.
Any proof about fertilizers being derived in oil, I am curious about that because I only have heard about fertilizers containing ammonia or nitrates or other organic stuff so I have not heard of that kind of fertilizer. Also, what oil are you talking about because there's a lot of oil out there besides the black oil that this thread is talking about.
Focusing on agriculture should be the first priority but when you have the advantage of having oil you should focus on it equally as it will give you an extra boost for improvement. I won't put them against each other, rather it will be wise to focus both on them and utilize them in a way so that we can take advantage from both of them.
You don't make for a good economic planner because you're dividing your attention to stuff like this when you can just find a way to make this two coexist and at the same time make you more yield in both fields, if your agriculture sector is suffering it will affect the workforce of your country because the food isn't in the best levels to keep everyone fed which makes the prices rise for food and in turn make it so that your workforce have less energy for work and oil fields are pretty intensive when it comes to workforce and you don't want a low-energy workers manning your oil fields right?
1083  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you work toward hodling bitcoin? on: November 14, 2023, 05:38:52 AM
I became an active participant in the bitcoin market back when the price was already at 8k USD or something like that so I don't really have to work too hard on hodling my bitcoin because I know that if I just wait for the right time, I would see myself getting the profit from hodling it for so long, I want to be considered by my friends as someone who has a diamond hands so there's that too and I have a job with a decent pay so I am not worried that I would need to sell my bitcoin this early, taking care of my body and working out regularly helps a lot too so I won't be seeing any problems with my health that might compromise my bitcoin hodling.
1084  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cash out or keep playing? on: November 14, 2023, 05:14:19 AM
I would ideally quit after a jackpot but if I'm still feeling lucky then my strategy is to cash out half of the winnings or more than depending on how much my initial bankroll was. I could lose the remaining or win more but the aim is to keep my capital intact while bringing home some profits. Every gambler has their own style though so let them be aggressive as long as they don't bother you when they lose.
Man, I advice you to not do that, leaving half of your win from the jackpot is a stupid mistake, stick to your budget because using half of what you've won as a fund for your gambling habit will result in change in routine which might make someone go off the rails in their gambling habit which will in turn become much worse. That feeling lucky feeling is a residual emotion you've got after you've won something big I wouldn't dare trying to gamble with that feeling because it's not going to result to anything but just more losses probably or frustration and regret when I could've just cashed out all the wins and not push my luck further.
1085  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you leave gambling if your future wife/husband tells you to do this ? on: November 14, 2023, 04:39:58 AM
~
Well, once you're committed or you have your own family, You should prioritize them rather than your leisures in life. Even if your partner knows that you are into gambling, it's better to minimize or stop it already even if they didn't ask you to do it. Nobody wants a broken family so Dont wait the time that gambling will be the reason for being in that situation. If you knoa that you're going to be addicted into gambling, talk to your partner or seek an advice to the professionals.
Thank you for saying it clearly what I've just said, people are still on the fence on this one issue when there's already a clear answer to all of this which is quitting gambling for good, that's not really a difficult question to be pondering on so I don't know why it's hard for many of these people to quit it. Broken family due to gambling is probably the worst case scenario but most of the time, if the gambling habit isn't that bad then we can probably see just major problems in the household but will escalate if no resolution is reached.
1086  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Andre August - December 15th in Florida on: November 14, 2023, 04:15:42 AM
Is this real? I haven’t heard anything about it, which would be odd for a Jake Paul fight. I’ve never heard of his opponent either. I guess maybe Jake is trying to get another win on his record. Pretty common for fighters to do that sort of thing on their way to a lot of wins, but Jake typically fights known people so this is a little out of character.
I was gonna say you probably haven't heard of this fight because you're not following him on his social media accounts but I've checked his YouTube channel and there's no videos posted about it which is weird given how bombastic and loud Jake Paul is, Jake's doing what Floyd Mayweather do but in a simpler way, Floyd fights great fighters on their twilight years and I think that's how they differ because Jake Paul don't seem to have any plans doing that anytime soon and boxing right now is a corrupt organization so it's easy to pick fighters that you can defeat if you've got the money for bribery.
1087  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your parent disinherit you eventhough you have not proven to be chronic gambler on: November 14, 2023, 03:24:18 AM
~

If I am the child to be disinherited because of gambling, even if I am not really an addicted gambling, I think I would stop gambling for the sake of the inheritance condition unless I am also very rich myself that I don't care anymore even if my parents won't give me any inheritance.

But if I am the brother of the child who won't receive any inheritance, I think I would convince my parents to let my brother or sister change or undergo professional treatment and resolve his problems and give him his inheritance. I think I won't be happy seeing my brother or sister receive nothing out of the vast wealth of my parents.

Off topic: Hey, do you still think Bitcoin won't reach $100,000 in 2024 or 2025? Lol.  Grin
Well, if you can find a way to convince your parents that you've stopped gambling then good for you and there's a possibility of getting back into the will but I assume that this kind of rich family are the kind that wouldn't tolerate gambling or living in a shameful way that will taint the family name so it's unlikely you can get back in it plus you're siblings if you have any in this hypothetical family, I don't think that they're going to be liking the idea of you getting back in too because they want to be in the favor of your parents so they won't risk being taken out of the will. With what you're planning to do, you're an awesome sibling to be had because what you've said about convincing your parents to bring back that person to the will would make you risk your own name being excluded, pretty noble in my opinion.
Off topic: Hey, do you still think Bitcoin won't reach $100,000 in 2024 or 2025? Lol.  Grin
Let me consult my local oracle on that matter. Cheesy
1088  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your parent disinherit you eventhough you have not proven to be chronic gambler on: November 14, 2023, 01:47:26 AM
That's their money anyway and whatever they think you deserve to get, that's their own decision to disinherit you and if this is a true story, I think that someone's lying about being a gambler here, I mean you're calling the worst one as chronic gambler when I am sure it's definitely an addiction. People are also pretty bad at doing self assessment especially on their worst behaviors so I don't think that the person that OP's mentioning is a responsible gambler. Either you convince them that you're not an addict or as you like to call a chronic gambler or you can admit it to them and tell them that you're going to change for the better and prove to them that you're committed to changing your life. If you really wanted to be part of that will, you're going to be doing what it takes to be there right?
I'm not a lawyer but I think you can always challenge this decision in court especially because they have not yet even proven that you're a chronic gambler.
Yes you can contest the ruling on the will but that will only make things worse for you because I am sure that the other people on the will wouldn't want you getting a piece of theirs when they finally got rid of you, either you accept the decision or be truthful that you're not just a chronic gambler but a gambling addict.
1089  Other / Meta / Re: So I had a person send me a pm to beg for merits. on: November 13, 2023, 09:58:41 AM
Nobody is demanding anyone to report a thing here and I would say just ignore him!
If he is farming accounts he will just get a 7-day ban at maximum on that one while spamming the forum with other accounts, is just a whack-a-mole thing at this point.
The best thing that OP can do because of how light the consequence is for the offender or if OP is in a better mood and feeling a bit energetic and thoughtful, maybe help that merit beggar to learn how to earn merit in an honest and deserving way, so as cliche as it sounds since it's been said already in the thread, it's always up to OP.
1090  Other / Meta / Re: A possible solution for broken images on the forum. on: November 13, 2023, 09:20:43 AM
That's why I am forever grateful to TalkImg, even though I don't use it often than I should I still love it because it makes it easier for anyone to share images and you don't even have to sweat it when it comes to adding it to your post because it has the code ready and the only thing that you'll have to worry about is adjusting the minor details like width, height or the position of the image. Regards to broken images, the solving on those issues lies on the people that have posted those images but most of them aren't an active member of the forum so who knows when will that happen.
1091  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk: Error 504: Gateway time-out AGAIN on: November 13, 2023, 08:37:39 AM
It seems like this issue is starting to reoccur, as I can't even remember how many times I have experienced it as a result of being active when it happens or most members complaining and posting about it.

Have the administrators been able to talk about what usually causes this and if there is anyway to get rid of it once and for all, or is it something that we should just get used to for the time being until further notice?

The last one that happened, which lasted for almost an hour, was the longest I have ever experienced. I hope this gets fixed and we don't have such experiences again.
I guess we just have to hope that they're doing their best in regards to this issue, it definitely is an annoying thing but what can we do when we know that this situation is out of our hands, we can't really do a thing about besides talk about it and share our concerns to the administrators. And the problem is most likely a server issue which is a backend problem so let's just hold on to hope that it will eventually be fixed. I hope this isn't something that will happen and that we'd get used to it, I don't like the idea that part of my routine in exploring the forum is waiting for the server to go back up.
1092  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting strategies on: November 13, 2023, 06:05:41 AM
I don't see anything wrong with your approach but upsets at the dying minutes are always a possibility like what happened in the Premier league between the Spurs and the Wolves. It's just one of those "it is what it is" moments that you have to accept and move on.

A lot of my live betting comes from an initial favorite team that's trailing in the first half where the odds of them winning the game increases significantly. They usually comeback stronger in the second but sometimes they don't. It's a higher risk with higher reward strategy.
Even if upsets like that happen, I don't think that it's a cause for OP to discontinue the strategy that OP has employed and with the result of that OP has said, I think that it's an effective strategy but if someone finds this strategy to be lacking due to the potential upsets or comebacks from the underdogs then you can always do arbitrage betting so you can win your bets either way but you can only do that when the odds are pretty big on both sides so you wouldn't be minding losing your bet on the losing side.
1093  Economy / Gambling / Re: QuitGamble.com - Free Help for Problem Gamblers on: November 13, 2023, 05:16:14 AM

and this motivation will attract others to have same initiatives , it is better that there are one
that started the run so others will follow because we knew how many gambling addiction victims around the world and
with how this works there are other Family members,Friend or even Gambling addict themselves) that will take place
in generating same project Helping  others to be (not free gambling) but to be a more responsible gamber.
Exactly, that's what I was trying to say in my last post, this initiative will serve as an inspiration or a spark so other people will try to do the same thing even if there are different cause that they want to be doing it. Like a small spark in a dry grassland, hopefully QuitGamble will be that spark that's going to ignite a wildfire.
1094  Economy / Gambling / Re: QuitGamble.com - Free Help for Problem Gamblers on: November 13, 2023, 04:03:04 AM
It is a great initiative no matter how it goes.I don't know if many people will be able to quit gambling for good through your site but a sure thing is that it is better to have this site than don't have it at all.I don't agree though that addicted people cannot go to responsible gambling first and I speak this from personal experience as I was once heavily addicted and since then I have switched to a preset budget which is the same as responsible gambling, meaning I only play this budget now which is money I can afford to lose and I feel good doing this from some years now.
We don't have to worry how many people are going to quit gambling because of this splendid effort, what matters is that this kind of thing exists and even if they save one, they still save someone from gambling addiction that meant that the efforts put into this wasn't in vain or anything. I don't know about you but I feel like being responsible in your gambling habits, it would mean that you're unlikely to be addicted right? Being a responsible person isn't a habit that someone easily turn off just because they've done something new, it's an innate and something that was learned during your childhood and it's difficult to remove and it's a different talk when you're just starting to learn how to be responsible.
1095  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have your own casino. on: November 13, 2023, 03:33:37 AM
I assume that having your own casino is like owning any other business which can only mean that it's a painstaking process that would take a while for me to reap the fruits of it's labor and at the same time make me exert more effort just to keep it running for days. Not to mention that as a business owner, you will be working 7 days a week and it's even more intense in the first weeks of your opening right? With all the stuff that I've mentioned, I don't think that I can do it even if I try my best. Also, I am not a people person so I don't think running a casino or any business suits me anyway maybe it's a neat dream for other but for me, it's a bother. I guess I just love that I have free time.
1096  Economy / Gambling / Re: - UGA - a Gamblers Union on: November 13, 2023, 03:02:54 AM
I feel like Casinos held each player for replaceable at some point. But Thats not right, thats not in accordance with Responsible Gambling in my opinion. There is so much space, so much can be done individually and from casinos to make it user friendlier. Not beeing scared to ask something to live support, not beeing scared that your account might get closed becaused you just discuss with people, the fact that so many gamblers feel not heard because cs is answering to wrong questions, casinos tend to answer with weeks of delay.
That's how casinos work, they really don't care about their players even if they're high rollers and that's how you should do business, you should never be attached to your customers no matter how long they have played for you and they know that people come and go so they don't experience having to beg for someone to just play for them unless that person is the 0.1% in the high rollers then maybe it's justified that you're going to care for them because that person could be making half of the profit that your casino got, I think that if the players have read the terms and conditions that the casino has given, they wouldn't be so confused, frustrated or mad that the casino has let go of them. I can see where you're coming at when it comes to this but we have to respect that they're running a business, now unless they're treating you unfairly you have no cause to be mad or angry with their decisions, sometimes things happen.
I really believe that Gamblers wich come together and justify on certain aspects have more weight and get heard to a larger audience to make these issues known and visible, without visibility there is no way of change. a Gamblers Union who represents the rights of Gamblers in general would really change a lot of things wich are wrong these days.
A union of players don't sound bad but you need to gather a lot of members and when I mean by a lot, I mean around hundreds of thousands if not millions because a few players is not a loss to this casinos, there's over a million of players worldwide and they can just shrug off the union, if you really need that union to be heard and have a voice, you are better off having that number that I gave you.
1097  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hot take: Your crypto portfolio should have more than just Bitcoin. on: November 12, 2023, 08:48:09 AM
No, I don't think that we're going to be following that hot take and in my opinion, the diversification of crypto portfolio is not the same thing as diversifying your investment portfolio of traditional investments like real estate, stocks and bonds. There's a lot of shitcoins out there that's aimed at gullible investors trying to get in into something that they think is going to have the same success as bitcoin and so they buy these shitcoins with the justification that it's also so they can diversify their crypto portfolio, it's not going to be a good thing to do that and you're better off putting all of your money in bitcoin because bitcoin will guarantee you a profit although it will take a long while before it can do that but that waiting will be worth it. Also, if you are a newbie to crypto then you're better off just buying bitcoin before thinking of venturing into other altcoins, you don't want your first experience in crypto investing to be a bad one, at the least with bitcoin you are going to be fine that is if you can hold out and wait for the price to go up and for you to get a big profit.
1098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcin does not support financial crimes and is not involve in political affairs on: November 12, 2023, 08:00:13 AM
Forget all of these, before guns and bombs were invented, people were already killing people. Before crypto, weren’t people being paid in fiat to do illegal activities. Haven’t politicians been doing all of this before 2008? Now Bitcoin is coming up, there are a lot of fingers pointing at it, countries have banned it as if their politicians don’t use it behind the scene. All Satoshi built was a currency accessible to everyone (just like fiat is), so I don’t see why they keep pointing at Bitcoin. If all of these happened in USD, will people highlight USD as a bad currency?
That's because the trend is to blame it all on something that is considered the low-hanging fruit and in the current case it is going to be bitcoin, with the independent nature of bitcoin and not having any sides I think that it is bound to happen that the free nature of bitcoin will prick up some people and there are those that want to protect their interest because they know that their interests can be a potential scapegoat if they don't do anything about it and so here we are with bitcoin being blamed. The only thing that is going to cure all this sickness of blaming bitcoin for all the ails and corruptions that the government, the society, and the people are experiencing is to cure the ignorance of the people, people that are ignorant and dismiss information entirely without checking it out first and not thinking for themselves is the root cause in all of this because imagine if people were all smart and can think for themselves, fear mongering in news all over the world will not be an effective tool against the people because they can just check it out for themselves, confirm it with other sources and remove any kind of misinformation or disinformation. When will we the normies ever learn to not judge something before all the facts are laid bare before them? We will never know but individual changes helps a lot in this kind of things.
