401  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling on: January 09, 2024, 04:57:59 AM
Many years ago there was an exploit on Primedice in which users were able to access decrypted server seeds and manipulate results. It is possible for these types of vulnerabilities to exist but security is taken more seriously in online casinos today than it was in the early days of Bitcoin. If you found an exploit today you might have trouble withdrawing because casinos will delay your payment for a long time while they're doing KYC background checks and analyzing your betting history for any irregularities.
402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is GRIN still a thing? on: January 09, 2024, 04:26:14 AM
Grin had a lot of promise early on because of its privacy and scalability. Launching it before there was a proper GUI wallet was a mistake. Not having any addresses was confusing and one of the ways in which it could be transferred was by sending it to an IP address. Deanonymizing users via their IP address is completely contrary to what you would expect from a privacy coin. There was a lot of funding behind it. From the start, the supply became centralized because large investors owned most of the hashpower. This excluded average users from mining and made the fair launch aspect meaningless.

After all these early issues I stopped paying attention to it. There are other blockchains working on privacy, either directly onchain or through external protocols, so Grin has lost its early mover advantage and it'll be difficult for it to recover.
403  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 09, 2024, 03:57:26 AM
Francis by KO thats for sure. Francis eating the punch of Fury like its nothing will only make AJs punch less effective.

Good for Francis not waiting for Fury rematch. He didnt fumble the bag this time but Fury for not taking the immediate rematch. Dana goes to the ER again while overdriving AJ shill.

Fury did not really test Ngannou's punch resistance because he fought cautiously after getting dropped and didn't throw many punches. AJ is a more powerful puncher than Fury so he has a better chance of winning by knockout. AJ also gets hurt easier so if he gets hit like Fury did, he might not survive. Both men, Joshua and Ngannou, have devastating power and are capable of changing the course of a fight with a single punch. This unpredictability of the outcome is what makes the fight so intriguing
404  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: January 08, 2024, 07:39:10 AM
Well, you are lucky, for me, I've never won anything about 32 reward points or 32 Satoshis from the freebitco wheel of fortune, though I've not really been constant with playing though, the only wheel of fortune I know I've been constant wit since I discovered it I think in the Q4 of 2023, is the wheel of fortune that comes with the daily mail we get from freebitco everyday , and even with this, together with the ones I bought, I've never gotten past 32 reward points or same number in satoshi.

Personally, I think the wheel of fortune is not completely based on luck as some of us assume it to be, I know this because, there actually have been more than 3 times I would have won the iPhone, but in a split of seconds, they will make it look like the spinner stopped or hanged, and then upon release, the pointer will appear on another prize.
This only makes me believe one thing, and that is that the outcome of every spin is manipulated, but this doesnt bother me though, since, I am not spending money on it.

The odds of winning an iPhone are 0.0000011%. Unless you've spun the wheel hundreds of millions of times, it's impossible to believe anybody could have been cheated out of an iPhone 3 times. Maybe you have the most insane luck in the history of the universe but a far more likely explanation is that it was an optical glitch caused by internet latency, cpu or memory issues. Sometimes our brain tricks us into believing what we expected to see instead of what was actually there.
405  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 08, 2024, 05:33:51 AM
Here is the video of the Ortiz vs Lawson,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaaSIvClFWc

I don't know, but it seems that Tony Weeks has stop this fight early? What are your thoughts?

Obviously, Ortiz has just started to get hot as he was out for the last 17 months and maybe getting a feel of it again. But Weeks for me stop it prematurely, Lawson is not hurt maybe he is but his legs is still there.

There was a lot of controversy surrounding this fight because of the early stoppage. Tony Weeks has had some questionable moments before like when he allowed Andre Ward to low blow Sergey Kovalev multiple times which led to a TKO. He also stepped in too early when Rolly Romero was losing on the scorecards but he was gifted a stoppage win against Ismael Barroso. It can't be a coincidence that all these controversial stoppages always favor the A-side fighter.
406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beterbiev Vs Smith January 13 SATURDAY IBF / WBC / WBO LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT Title on: January 08, 2024, 04:18:13 AM
I do agree but it's boxing politics that really prevented us seeing big names like Bivol vs Beterbiev. Callum Smith might be a decent fighter, but he could still be the next victim of Beterbiev's power. But in any case, if this is a cherry pick fight, then so be it. However, if he wins here, I do hope that Top Rank will have to schedule their man Beterbiev vs Bivol.

There's no way that they can avoid each other, they are the only 2 champions in this division. And with the way fighters are reaching in this generation, they are going at a unification like Inoue, Crawford and Canelo at 168 lbs.

It's not just boxing politics but also global politics. The WBC banned Russian athletes from competing for their title. They have stated that Bivol is not eligible to fight for their belt, although for some reason Beterbiev is still allowed. Other sanctioning organizations have implemented a similarly stupid rule. https://www.badlefthook.com/2022/3/1/22956803/wbc-wbo-ibf-refuse-certify-title-fights-russian-belarusian-fighters-boxing-news-2022

Now that Saudia Arabia seems willing to offer a lot of money to make it happen, perhaps the organizations will do what's best for the sport even if they do it for entirely selfish reasons.
407  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Aqua wallet - Bitcoin, Lightning, Liquid on: January 07, 2024, 09:12:35 AM
According to a review published on Stacker News, they originally had terms which stated that Aqua Wallet had the right to collect KYC information.

Quote
"AQUA may sometimes be required to collect personal information in addition to Identification Information, such as identity documents (including passport, driver's license, national identity card, state ID card, tax ID number, passport number, driver's license details, national identity card details, visa information, etc.), proof of address, source of fund declaration, purposes of fund documents, and source of wealth."

That has since been removed and replaced with the following: ”AQUA Wallet does not collect, process or store any personal information or documents.”

The target audience for this wallet seems to be USDT users on altcoin blockchains and people who want to use Lightning with minimal risk. By the looks of it, Liquid still has a long way to go in convincing users they should adopt it.
408  Other / Meta / Re: (Any Guesses?) Are there many real (unpaid) people still posting here at BCT? on: January 07, 2024, 12:46:23 AM
I didn't wear a signature for most of last year because I wasn't very active and there didn't seem to be many campaigns with low posting quotas available for full members. I somehow got accepted into a well paying mixer campaign and have been involved in a few other campaigns since then, with the only exception being when the Mixy campaign was paused for a while.

Prior to being in a campaign I would talk about crypto and sports on Reddit, Telegram and other forums but since you can make money on Bitcointalk, it made more sense to find a few boards that interest me and dedicate some time to this forum instead.
409  Economy / Speculation / Re: will the btc price reach 100k ? on: January 06, 2024, 06:32:22 AM
Bitcoin went up around 160% in the past year. If we see an increase like that this year then it will surely surpass $100,000. A lot of longer term holders will be looking to sell the higher it goes up so I wouldn't count on it reaching that price anytime soon but it is very plausible that it will hit $100k in the 4 years prior to the 2028 halving. As long as there continues to be the level of demand we are seeing for Bitcoin, it is natural to expect to see a price surge due to the decreasing block reward making it harder for people to acquire it in large sums.
410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beterbiev Vs Smith January 13 SATURDAY IBF / WBC / WBO LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT Title on: January 06, 2024, 05:03:26 AM
And here is the current result of the poll, hmmm it seems nobody's giving Smith a chance to beat Beterbiev, after Beterbiev and Bivol dispose of their respective opponents it is time for them to settle who among the two is the best Russian boxer.

Beterbiev by knockout   - 22 (100%)
Beterbiev by decision   - 0 (0%)
Smith by knock out   - 0 (0%)
Smith by decision   - 0 (0%)
Draw   - 0 (0%)

That is a very lopsided poll. Beterbiev has a perfect knockout record so it makes sense that everyone believes he will win this fight by stoppage. There are many doubts about Callum Smith. His win against John Ryder was questionable and against Canelo he didn't let his hands go and got dominated. The only question about Beterbiev is whether he is starting to decline. At 38, his reflexes might not be the same. Smith will have to show some initiative instead of just absorb punches. He has a better chance than most people anticipate but it depends on whether he can impose his style without getting intimidated by Beterbiev's power.
411  Economy / Gambling discussion / [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 06, 2024, 12:24:05 AM
It has been confirmed that Anthony Joshua will be fighting Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia on March 9th. Deontay Wilder was supposed to be the original opponent but that plan fell apart after Wilder’s upset loss to  Joseph Parker.

Anthony Joshua is coming off his best win since losing his titles to Andy Ruiz. Francis Ngannou’s previous fight was his pro debut against Tyson Fury in which he scored a knockdown against the lineal heavyweight champion.

I doubt Joshua will take this fight lightly so we will see if Ngannou is a real contender or if his performance against Fury was just a fluke.

412  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inoue vs Casimero (possible fight in 2024) Let's discuss! on: January 05, 2024, 06:02:41 AM
This fight is only possible, if Casimero is going to sign with MP Promotion again. As stated in the article, MP promotion through SEAN Gibbons are willing to help Casimero to get a fight with Inoue. And according to the camp if Inoue, Champ's fight was already line up, and will start with Nery (as mandatory challenger) and Murodjon Akhmadaliev, Casimero is currently last in the list, but anything can happen as long as the negotiation is would result to in agreement of both parties.

Read, for more story here/

Gibbons willing to open door for potential Casimero fight with Inoue

A fight with Inoue represents a lot of money, that's why Gibbons is suddenly interested in working with Casimero again. Neither Gibbons, nor MP Promotions, represent Inoue so they have no power to actually make that fight happen. In the past Gibbons has prevented good fights from happening like Loma vs. Salido and Ryan Garcia vs. Pitbull Cruz because he was greedy and wanted too much money. Casimero can get the Inoue fight on his own as long as he can win impressively in his next fights.
413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you care about what people say about you gambling? on: January 05, 2024, 04:49:04 AM
I have always kept my gambling activity private. It's not because I care what others might think, I just value my privacy especially when it comes to financial matters. As long as it is not hurting anybody then there is no reason for people to judge you for being a gambler or anything else you do in your private life. Gambling isn't some evil thing that only degenerates do. It is a normal activity that normal people do for enjoyment.
414  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for January on: January 05, 2024, 04:17:57 AM
It was Jim Cramer. The market dumped on our faces after he declared that bitcoin cannot be killed and it is here to stay heheheeehehe.

Why would that be a reason which caused the price to drop? Most agree that the reason was in the Matrixport report, which says that the ETF will probably not be accepted this month, which consequently caused liquidation about "$500 million worth of positions across derivatives exchanges."

I would also single out the news that Saylor announced that he was selling part of his company's shares, which some may have interpreted as negative news.

I'm sure that was just sarcasm because Jim Cramer is a clown who is known for making really bad predictions. If he says something is a good investment there is a good chance it will dump. Matrixport and Michael Saylor had about as much influence on the price as Jim Cramer, which is none at all. Traditional markets were also down yesterday.

My feeling is that we will have a positive month. By the end of next week the halving will be less than 100 days away. Nothing goes straight up forever, and there could be a few speed bumps before reaching a new ATH, but I don't think a massive selloff is likely in the coming weeks.
415  Economy / Gambling / Re: Freebitco.in - FUN Token Investment Experiment on: January 04, 2024, 06:00:17 AM
I initially invested in this token because I thought it could be a good way to earn more BTC. The premium benefits at the beginning were too good to pass up. In the first several months I was reaching the 100k RP threshold to exchange for BTC frequently. Then they silently started nerfing those premium benefits to a point where it was no longer such a great value for early investors.

I still believe casino tokens can work if their developers have a proper long term plan instead of improvising as they go along after having created a lot of hype to maximize profit. With FunToken at least we are getting some passive benefits for hodling but after nearly 3 years, and a huge drop in price, investors want to see more utility and growth for this token.

So do you think that this token is not worth holding or this FUN token's future is not bright? I got this feeling from your post but maybe i misunderstood it and you have some other point of view.

I guess there are few gambling site tokens in the market and everyone's performance is almost similar, not so good for now. But if we believe that FUN token would not be able to perform well in the future, then i am afraid that all the gambling sites tokens will be a failure. I am saying this as freebitco is the pioneer site running for a long time and a lot of hope is invested in it's Fun token too.

I don't have any clairvoyance to know what will happen in the future. Just from analyzing its past performance I believe it will continue to underperform compared to Bitcoin and other top altcoins. I still like the additional benefits that come with this token, and will continue acquiring it in small amounts, but if you're not an active user on FreeBitco.in this token serves you no purpose and I would recommend a less risky investment. We can usually count on one or two big pumps per year so if you're patient enough there will be an opportunity to make a good profit during these moments or to at least make up for your losses.
416  Economy / Gambling / Re: Freebitco.in - FUN Token Investment Experiment on: January 04, 2024, 05:05:17 AM
and many whales and people who are very well educated in investments will make the mistake of spending money on buying these casino tokens to keep doing hodl when they have bitcoin which is the best investment and the safest, in my opinion I don't see any reason for anyone to casino having a token, is something that does not have a good future for anyone who buys said token.

417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Pacquiao vs. Buakaw - April 20 on: January 04, 2024, 04:25:42 AM
The McGregor fight didn't push and it ended up in a lawsuit for Manny and losing to Paradigm Sports Management and wins $5.1M judgment against Pacquiao.
out of curiosity, what was the reason why their fight didn't push through and why was there a lawsuit filed against Pacquaoi?

McGregor suffered a gruesome leg injury in his fight against Dustin Poirier and has been unable to compete since then. Paradigm tried to then setup a fight with Mikey Garcia but Sean Gibbons steered Pacquiao towards working with PBC and fighting Errol Spence instead. Paradigm then sued Pacquiao to recover the millions of dollars they had already paid him.
418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin Deviated from The Vision of Satoshi? on: January 03, 2024, 06:04:31 AM
How long has it been since Satoshi's mysterious departure? Well over a decade by now. Bitcoin has existed without Satoshi for far longer than the 2 years that he was around. There is no need for a decentralized network to adhere strictly to the vision of a single leader. In his absence, the protocol still needs to continue operating. Changes will be made when bitcoiners as a collective agree to them. At this moment, the community has decided that being able to pay for a cup of coffee with an onchain payment is the not an urgent priority.
419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do with your altcoin holding with low value on: January 03, 2024, 05:37:49 AM
I still have some dust amounts of tokens left in my wallets from when I was doing some yield farming several years ago. Sometimes to boost the APR in their liquidity pools DEXs will incentivize you with extra rewards paid out in their native token. If you don't want to wait long enough to accumulate enough tokens to be able to swap them for something more valuable you will be left with tiny amounts in your wallet once you remove your liquidity. I am just waiting for the moment these tokens see a really large pump to cash out on them but in the meantime I will just leave them sitting in my wallet to collect dust.
420  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's Your Feeling After You Finish Gambling. on: January 02, 2024, 06:38:43 AM
I feel indifferent most of the time. Gambling is just something I do to pass the time, I'm not looking to earn a life altering amount from it. If I lose a big amount by making a stupid bet then I might feel a bit of depression but I will just stop gambling and distract myself with another activity like watching Netflix or playing a video game to get over it quickly.
