441  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who is newbie and how long does it take to navigate the forum? on: January 10, 2024, 01:52:59 PM
For example, I was searching about the Bitcoin timelock feature and how it works, and I found a thread where the writer wrote a great tutorial and mentioned that it is just a detailed version of TryNinja's post. https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@daan/how-to-create-time-locked-transactions-with-bitcoin-free-bitcoins-inside I felt proud when I saw that the Bitcointalk post was referenced.
LoyceV has one topic about Bitcoin Timelock too.

Using Locktime for inheritance planning, backups or gifts.

Just like yesterday but that topic is already 5 years old.
442  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: January 09, 2024, 03:15:54 PM
There was a friend of mine who visited me a day after and he was saying gambling every day draws you more closer to winning.
It will result in Gambling addiction and no longer be able to Gamble Responsibly.

Your friend must show his net betting result to prove what he says. He can win in one day, two days but in long term, loss is unavoidable. You don't even need to ask your friend about proof to know the truth.

443  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning] Fake Ledger wallet update email with phishing link. on: January 09, 2024, 03:03:08 PM
I received an email to update Ledger wallet, but basically it is a fake email and the purpose of this email is phishing attack. And the email I received it on is the email I used once on the Ledger wallet website to participate in a promotional event.
Have you ever checked your email address with https://haveibeenpwned.com/ ?

It's possibly that your email will be marked as pwned.

I don't use Ledger wallet and don't know their condition to join Ledger promotional event, it's helpful if you share that is it opened for everyone or is it restricted to Ledger users only.

Because if it is opened for everyone, and you want to join it, you must use your throw away email or not important email to join events. If you use your main email to join events around many platforms, you expose yourself to many potential risk.
444  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: More reason you should protect your privacy and anonymity as a Bitcoin holder. on: January 09, 2024, 12:50:24 AM
Bitcoin physical attacks.

People must hide their identities as much as possible, for privacy, safety of their life and their coins. Unfortunately, in reality they do oppositely. They want to be recognized, want to be famous and they show their faces everywhere. By wanting to be known, they take risk which is not only for their bitcoins but also for their life and even family members's security.
445  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which wallet can i use for my needs on: January 08, 2024, 03:45:53 PM
As a newbie which wallet i can use and will that wallet support bitcoin and other altcoins?
Don't find all in one wallet.

If you have both bitcoin and altcoins, let's use different wallets for them.

One wallet for bitcoin only. Don't mix it by storing bitcoin together with altcoins.
Another wallet for altcoins.

With Bitcoin wallets, you can practice too choose it from https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

I recommend
  • Bitcoin Core if you want to run node (full or prune)
  • Electrum wallet if you don't have big space in your disk. It's available for Android and you can use Lightning Network with it too.
  • Remember to verify your wallets

I know some wallet names like Coinbase Wallet, Trust Wallet, MyEtherWallet but as a newbie which wallet can I use to keep my assets safe.
Generally use non custodial (you own private keys, mnemonic seed), open source (it's reproducible and can be deeply tested) wallets. Read reviews from

446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Effortlessly promoting Bitcoin, raising the curiosity of none bitcoin ethusiast on: January 07, 2024, 08:58:22 AM
In a nutshell, Bitcoin is no longer a baby and it has reached to a period of organic adoption growth. It no longer needs shilling marketing efforts, like we commonly see with alternate cryptocurrencies nowadays, to expand its adoption.

Naturally, every four years, with each Bitcoin halving event, Bitcoin is mentioned more on social media and it will be exposed to new people. Some of them will become new Bitcoiners, new Bitcoin maximalists who will be tested with a consequent bear market. Who are strong enough to stay through one bear market will actually stay here for many years.

The bullish case for Bitcoin.
You can read it on Medium or buy a book from Amazon.
447  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Merit decay on: January 07, 2024, 08:50:17 AM
I've got to find out that there are some profiles that have received whole lots of merits but some of those profiles don't circulate their sendable merits to others profiles thereby allowing the sendable merits to decay and become worthless.
With current merit system, sendable merits stay in that account, forever, before those sMerits are sent to other users or the forum has a big change in merit system, self-destruction of sMerits with a time counter.

Quote
The reason for sendable merits is for a user to send to other profiles in which they find their posts of good qualities and of Meritable standards but I wonder why some users choose to hoard this sendable merits and allowing it to vanish with time.
Some members hoard their sMerits  but it is not big matter for merit system and sMerit circulation because daily and monthly, the forum has new sourced sMerits from theymos, dump to merit sources. theymos has his merit block explorer to observe the circulation and can increase sourced sMerits to merit sources if necessary.

Quote
Is it a good habit to allow one's sendable merits to decay?
No, in my opinion.

I see having a new feature like Demerit is better idea.

448  Other / Meta / Re: Moderator application for Polish local board on: January 07, 2024, 08:42:56 AM
why can't wwzsocki be given the opportunity to prove himself as a moderator on our polish board?
Why not?

He is a kind man and trusted person and I think the main question is just is the Polish local board needs a moderator. If local community needs it, wwzsocki can be one of best candidates. I knew that in a last time, the local board needed and voted for a local moderator, he is also one of the last chosen candidates. Eventually, malevolent took that position.

So why not him, this time?

we should be really happy that someone has agreed to take on this privileged task
i mean the polish board, if you look at the statistics, is very clear (in terms of activity and number of users) so the new moderator would not be overwhelmed with numerous 'assignments' and we could then assess his reliability in his new role and if we were not satisfied with him after all, we would then get in touch
This is an interesting experience of Welsh on how a new moderator will start working. I see it is a normal process like everyone adapts to a new company business.
Quote
4.4. How do you feel about the idea of giving more authority to local moderators (ban of violators, bots, unban appeal)?
I tend to believe its worked for this long, and becoming a moderator you don't go through a course or anything like that. theymos gives asks you, and then there's a few things in the staff forum to guide you. If you're making mistakes or not quite hitting the standards that theymos expects he'll message you, and very casually guide you. So, reducing the permissions of a local moderator reduces any issues that could pop up, in that lack of knowledge stage.

Plus, local moderators can get in contact with the big boys (Globals/admins), and ask them to escalate any cases. So, it's not like we don't communicate. Its not like you'd communicate in a office, but you ping things over to the big boys, and they get to decide the right course of action based on the local moderator's input. The system has worked for many years, and honestly there's not to many issues reported.

I think it's fine how it is.
449  Economy / Gambling / Re: UNREAL!! Sportsbet.io pays out a $42,000,000 USDT Casino WIN!! on: January 06, 2024, 02:11:05 PM

UNREAL!!!

A lucky Sportsbet.io player has won one of the largest slots jackpots in history, turning a $50 spin into an incredible $42 million prize.

The player was placing bets in the USDT cryptocurrency on Alchemy Gaming’s Wheel of Wishes slot when the 42,100,000 USDT jackpot dropped on December 20.
It is just a massssiveeeee win. Congratulations for the super lucky winner!

By the way, I have a curious question, did you have record on biggest winning ever on your platform or more, top 10 biggest winning in your business history?

The list will be a trust mark for your business.

It's not unbelievable mate if you are gambling with the right casino. They have a good reputation to protect so they will not mess up with their gamblers. That's why its important to check the gambling site you are using as you never know, you'll be the next to win a million dollars. Nothing is impossible!
No doubt about reputation of Sportsbet.io because they run their business many years and have proven that they are solid and trustworthy. Their operations and time are very solid evidence for their business reputation.
450  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲 StarBets.io 🎲 || A Crypto-based iGaming Platform 🎲 on: January 06, 2024, 01:33:37 PM
lol I need a pair of good glasses : I read the first words of your reply as "I tried to scam with their Termos of Service..."  Grin

Thanks for spending your time the digging into this by the way.
You are good with trolling but it's funny if my post actually caused you that tiny trouble.  Cheesy

I always had in my mind that the house edge was 2% so slightly higher than the other casinos, but couldn't find it back. Nothing in their whitepaper and the livechat they have is just a bot that couldn't answer the question about this also (you need to send a mail).
You answered the basic correctly but how did you know it, I guess some members asked and the StarBets team answered here in the past?

The house edge for each game is described below:

Dice, Plinko, CoinFlip - 2% House Edge.
Limbo, Mines - 3% House Edge.
Texas Holdem, Keno, and Blackjack depend on players' strategy. The house edge is not fixed.
Thank you. The post clears the doubt from community.

By the way, do your team want to relaunch your signature campaign? If yes, I glad to work with your team.
451  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can two clubs owned by one person participate in the Champions League? on: January 06, 2024, 01:26:26 PM
Please I need a confirmation on the information I recently received regarding two clubs owned by the same person not allowed to both participate in the UEFA Champions League which means that one club must have to participate and the other club not allowed to. Furthermore, I've heard that Girona FC and Manchester City are both owned by the same person. If this is the case, I'd like to know your thoughts on which club you would support in reference of the above information.
According to news a few months ago, it was still not allowed but UEFA are considering to relax their restrictions on it a little bit.

UEFA has their document that says it is not allowed and I believe this idea is still in consideration, not enforced officially yet. They have cumbersome structures so I don't expect this idea will be pratically applied soon.
452  Other / Meta / Re: Moderator application for Polish local board on: January 06, 2024, 12:51:20 PM
I think it was a Global Mod who said it's been a very long time since a new Mod was appointed based on the reports he submitted.
It can be Welsh. He shared his experience on how he became a moderator in his several posts and he was chosen as a moderator in like ICO spam waves in Bitcointalk.

Here is a post of Welsh but he wrote some posts about this in different topics like his interview's answers that has some interesting information about tasks of forum moderators and how they work.

Pretty much, and I've been reporting for years. However,  I really ramped up my daily reports in the last 12 months or so before getting asked if I'd like to be a moderator. I was probably hitting a 1000 on a good day (or bad depending how you see it). At one point I was literally waking up, and putting in a hour before work, and then a few hours before bed. I pretty much made it my unofficial job to clear up all the shit that was getting posted. This was during a time where spam was everywhere you looked because of the popularity of Bitcoin back then. Handling reports takes a lot more time than making reports though, because I didn't really care for accuracy back then, and now I've got to do proper research before handling a report to avoid as many issues as possible, and of course we still make mistakes.

This is a moderator was appointed when a member rank is very low, Halab.
I'll answer you with my example.
Registered in July 2017.
Appointed mod of the french section in July 2018 with the rank of member and 13 or 14 merits.
I wasn't the most active. I am far from having all the knowledge about Bitcoin. I'm not the most fluent in english, I hope I'm just understandable.
So you see the criteria for a local mod are not high. It must be higher for a mod in US section or a Global Mod.

Hello there, I cannot find informations on your site about the house edge of your house games , may you please address me to them?
I tried to scan with their Terms of Service, FAQs and some pages, did not find anything about their house edge.

No information from BTCGOSU review.

The team are right one to answer you about this because it is their business.

If anyone can make a thread like this Overview of Bitcoin Accepting Sportsbooks (with margin/house edge comparisons) but for non sportsbooks, it will be very helpful.

By replying in another thread, I searched around and found some Forum Ex-Staffs as follows. It's interesting to see the author of some famous books like Matering Bitcoin, Mastering Lightning Network, Mastering Ethereum, The Internet of money, namely Andreas Antonopoulos, has an account here. He was a forum moderator too.

Interesting discovery, with me, in early of 2024.

455  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 05, 2024, 07:20:24 AM
Ok would you be willing to take a 10:1 bet that Chelsea won't be relegated into the Championship? If you win, you get 10 mBTC. If I win, I get 1mBTC. I say they won't be relegated under any circumstances. Let me know if that is a bet you would like to accept and we will get someone reputable to quote our conversation and then we can settle it at the end of the season.

Crystal Palance vs. Everton ended in a draw, which is quite unsatisfactory for both as the game must now be repeated and both of them really don't need any additional games for nothing.
Thinking of a relegation for Chelsea is too pessimistic. They are not good as they used to be in previous seasons but they have yet been weak enough to be relegated. Their star players now can not compare to their legendary star players who won many titles for the club with the generation of Drogba, Lampard, Terry, Cole and more but those current players are able to secure a spot in Premier League for Cheslea.

I expect that Chelsea will start to recover in this season and will get a ticket to join either Conference League or Europa League in 2024 - 2025 season. It will be a good transitional achievement for them to become a giant in Premier League one or two seasons later.

Overall, Chelsea has played 1,210 matches in the Premier league and have won a total of 637, lose in 274 with a total goals counted at 2,045 goals and those are some interesting stats to know about the history and current situation of Chelsea in the league.
They can not survive in this season by relying on their record. To survive, they must fight hard and be strong enough to get enough points to stay in the league.

Quote
This season, Chelsea have played in 20 matches already with just 8 wins, 4 draws and another 8 loses that is equal to the matches won and a total point of 28 right now which have kept them in the 10th position of the table. Ordinarily, one would have expected to see Chelsea at the top of the table together with clubs like Arsenal, Aston Villa, West Ham Brighton amongst other clubs but unfortunately, they did not and this seems to be a similar outcome to what we saw in the last season which is going to glad.
The 10th position is not what they want but it is somewhat safe for them, far from relegation zone. Because they are a big club, they have to force themselves to improve and aim at higher position, like top 6 of the league. They must aim at Europa League in the next season and to have chance for playing there, they must play better and get a higher position in Premier League. Appearance of Aston Villa in top four will be a surprising barrier for Chelsea to end this season in top six.
456  Other / Meta / Re: Moderator application for Polish local board on: January 05, 2024, 06:41:47 AM
Let's check past calls of forum admin when there was need for forum moderators. You can read to see how moderators were chosen in the past. Main factors can be personal reports and community support (vote).

It is the case of @mole0815 who was appointed years ago. A latest appointed moderator if I am right.
There will only be one moderator.

Report history is the most important consideration for a moderator candidate. Over the forum's many years, relatively "newbie" members with good report histories have consistently done much better as mods than veteran, well-respected members with poor report histories. That said, not all reports are equal, so a simple report count doesn't tell the whole story. Also, in addition to report histories, it's necessary to consider factors such as the ability of the candidate to be neutral, their trustworthiness, etc. It's also nice to choose a moderator who people generally already trust/respect, but sometimes this is outweighed by other factors.

If a poll is created, I will not completely ignore the results, but I will also not use it as a primary influence. I'm more interested in arguments people have for or against certain candidates.

Here are the top non-bad report counts for the German sections over the last 6 months, along with the German boards which those reports covered (broader coverage being better).

457  Economy / Reputation / Re: What is going on??? on: January 04, 2024, 07:47:30 PM
I think there might be many more though I can't remember and do not know how many people are facing problems like this.
Not sure about two other cases but for case 2, it seems a terrible practice was made (at least it is what the user told us).

Teleporting an account from Bitcointalk to Altcoinstalks, and using a same password. It breaks an important principle, don't reuse password on different platforms.
Quote
I recently teleported my account in altcoinstalks. I was required to put the same username there too. So I used the same password there as well.
No requirement to use the same password for the process!

I don't know it is a reason or just a fake one, used by the user to fool us but let's say, reuse password is bad practice.
I don't believe admin of Altcoinstalks forum plays bad and do something like this with his forum members but who knows. And let's take this case to make a warning, again

Don't reuse password.
Password must be unique, best if randomly generated, and strong.
458  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🐺WOLF.BET - Advanced Dice Game 🎲 Sportsbook 🏟️ Slots 🎰 on: January 04, 2024, 02:28:11 PM
Agreed - I am not a dice enthusiast myself but their dice game really makes a difference - speaking of originals, you all be told that they are "cooking" something... Wink

Wolf.Bet`s consistency is amazing and unlike others, they do not pretend to be the biggest site in the world, yet they keep growing, slowly but surely, and advertising when/where necessary while introducing a very generous affiliate program for serious marketing people. I can only repeat that they are some of my favorite people to work with (for years now). The fact that there are literally no complaints goes to show how much they can be trusted.

Is there anything that you are missing at Wolf?
Wolf.bet joined the forum in 2019 bear market and I remembered they started their business with not too many products for users. They run a signature campaigns a few times and dice was one of games which were built slowly with time by Wolf.bet team.

Then HILO and more games, then sportsbook, it shows professional of the team as well as their dedication to build up a good platform for users.

I am also impressed with Zwei who is still working with the team after many years. She is a designer for their signature sets many times and also their campaign manager too. By the way, has Zwei become a Business Development staff of Wolf.bet, after some years of cooperation?

It's the first signature campaign of Wolf.bet but they actually run it five times so far.
459  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: January 04, 2024, 04:40:42 AM
I didn't compare which player is smarter. I just stated that both are smart players. If we compare which one is smarter, it will be an endless debate. I don't want to debate on it because we are not in the topic about Messi vs Ronaldo.

I know very well about the skills of both players. I already watched them since they are young players. I even already watched Messi since he was a substituted player in Barcelona squad. So, don't think that I am a new football lover, dude!
They are both smart people and players because without smartness, they would have not been two best players in the last 20 years and even in football history. They made different decisions when leaving Europe, decided to join different leagues at different continents but I don't say who is smarter than the others. We don't know their actual reasons for those decisions and maybe their decisions were made not only because of themseves like their career but also because of their family exclusively their children.

Quote
Why? I don't think so. It is about the offer made by Al Ittihad and the plan of SON. If SON still plans to play in Europe, he won't accept the offer although it will be a big offer. Please understand that playing in SPL isn't the same as retire from football career.  Grin
Son is still strong physically and he can play well in Premier League next one or two seasons. If just saying about achievement for an Asian player, Son has gotten a lot of achievements that can be enough with many Asian players. However, he is an ambitious player and his ambition is what makes him to learn, train, improve in Harmburg then moved to Tottenham and make history there. I feel like Son will continue his career in Tottenham and will not leave Premier League soon.

Perhaps he will move to Saudi Professional League after World Cup 2026 when he will satisfy his ambition to play in another World Cup with his national team and also be older enough to seriously consider about his finance when retirement day will come closer.

Thank you! Normally if I bet with high odds it's below $0.50 my bet is, but it was for the Perfect 10 contest, and you should make a bet of $1 minimum, with odds 10.00 or above and with betting on minimum 10 outcomes. And after selecting 10 games I saw that my odds where unnecessary above 50.00, and I thought "Ah, f*ck it, I'll leave it like that!" And I won. Smiley I lost my bets with the odds like 12.00 and 15.00, but I won with 54.46. Smiley
It's a f*** beauty of gambling. Congratulations to you.

Bet with abnormal higher odds than your favorite and with bigger bet value than usual, but at the end you got a lucky win. It's damn stimulating and really increase your dopamine. You are a pro gambler and I really sure you will simply enjoy your win, restructure your balance and capital for gambling and try your luck next times.

A pro gambler is different than newbie gambler by never bet all and never bet with super high multipliers continously.
