1041  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I never use wallet like a bank on: March 30, 2023, 02:19:47 PM
Some people get used wallets like banks (mobile banking) just for tracking or knowing if get received money from someone or payment.
It's necessary for personal finance and I am doubtful if someone are not following their payment (get paid or not) to continue their work.

Quote
But, I don't like them, because we're in a crypto world where don't need to install a bitcoin wallet like mobile banking on your phone if want just to know if received money or payment a week.
Many options to check your wallet balance but why not have your own wallet and check it in your wallet.

Quote
Yes, I did it on explorer, I just put my bitcoin address into explorer and bookmark it on the browser (simple, on chrome android, setting it as a shortcut in hope page phone).
Do you know that explorer can track many things when you enter your address on their explorers? Like IP address.

Quote
If want more detail and receive notifications like mobile banking, you must register in your email on a specific explorer and subscribe.
So if any transaction is on that address, you will receive a notification in your email.
Why do you have to sacrifice your privacy and things you can do on your side by relying on a third-party website (explorer)?

Register a blockchain explorer by email to get notification on my wallet balance changes. It's very bad advice.

If you are worrying about hack on your device, you can simply import your wallet in Watch-only mode. You can see balance, transaction history but nobody can steal your bitcoin.
1042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Difference between crypto and cryptocurrency on: March 30, 2023, 02:00:23 PM
Didn't knew there was a difference between crypto and cryptocurrency.
It can be not correct usage but many people thought and use crypto as abbreviation of cryptocurrency but as said I don't consider it is a right word use.

Quote
My stress is on why are some cryptocurrency called token and others coin?
To differentiate them, first let's check Definition of tokens

My explanations
  • A coin is when it has its own blockchain. Like Ethereum $ETH is a coin because it has its own chain namely ERC-20 chain. All Ethereum transactions are on Ethereum ERC-20 blockchain. Transaction fee will be paid on that coin too.
  • A token does not have its own blockchain. It is like a parasite on an available blockchain. Example: A token runs by smart contract on Ethereum ERC-20 chain. Therefore, if you want to make a transaction with that token, you can not pay transaction fee with that token and you must have a native currency on that chain for transaction fee, this case it is $ETH.
1043  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Paxful Rip off? on: March 30, 2023, 01:46:48 PM
Just report your transaction to the customer support of paxful and let them handle the case.
Two first priorities when you need support to handle your trade:
- File a dispute
- File a report on that trade

Quote
https://paxful.zendesk.com/hc/en-us
They have chat support, the paxbot and you can just chat your message there about this concern which is likely a scam attempt. If you know that the transaction proceeded successfully, there's no need for you to cancel the transaction.
Support ticket can be created through Paxbot and it's their guide on it. How to reach customer support service

That bot is annoying if a new user is not familiar with it but after a few times, it's useful.

All of those: dispute, report, support ticket will take time to be handled.
1044  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: March 29, 2023, 04:48:24 PM
If for example Arsenal and Manchester city are consistent to win in every match going forward, but in the second match or the second meeting between Manchester City v Arsenal and produce a win for Manchester City. But still, Arsenal's position will not be able to be taken over by Manchester City because their point gap is quite wide.
Manchester City have 5 points less than Arsenal and they must play next matches with an assumption that Arsenal will win their matches too. They have to consider a direct match with Arsenal will be like very last chance for them to stop Arsenal, to reduce a gap to only 2 points and they can hope that Arsenal will play worse after that defeat. If Arsenal successfully maintain the 5 points gap after a match with Manchester City, I am sure their sentiment will be too good and they will aim at the trophy strongly.

Quote
..
Unless Arsenal don't have good results for the next few matches, then this could threaten Arsenal's position to be taken over by Manchester City. Anyway, if Arsenal can win every match, then of course Manchester City will not be able to win the Premier League title this season.
I don't think Arsenal can win all rest matches but they must focus on each of those matches. The race between Arsenal and Manchester City will be decided by results from both clubs, not from only Arsenal or Manchester City.

I believe Arsenal have more chances of getting the premier league championship than Manchester City.

What Pep Guardiola is mostly concerned about is the Champions League and that is what his players are trying to get.
Arsenal have more points than Manchester City and they have a better schedule. After were knocked out from Europa League by Sporting Lisbond, they have less competition to fight than Manchester City. Hopefully they won't get any injury on their key players in about 10 more matches and will be able to complete this season with a happy ending for all efforts they spent and good results they have gotten so far.
1045  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Paxfull Rip off? on: March 29, 2023, 04:30:44 PM
This is the official site I think: https://paxful.com/fr.
Official site: https://paxful.com/
Official communities: https://paxful.com/community

The link you shared is correct for Francais language, you can check with the official site and pick that language at the bottom right corner.

Then the seller wants me to cancel the trade to correct the amount which I did not do.
If you did not receive payment, you can start a dispute or cancel the trade. No big deal.

On Paxful, when you trade, you should use video recorder to record process of the trade. Later you might need it as proof for your dispute.

Quote
Is this a rip off?
I don't think it is rip off if you cancel a trade. Just remember if your trade partner tries to create pressure on you to release your coin for him, don't do this. Only release your coins if you receive payments well

If you already made payment, mark it as Paid and wait for your trade partner to complete the trade. Else, start a dispute and wait for moderator to join and handle it for you.
1046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why use Bitcoin mixers? on: March 29, 2023, 12:42:49 PM
I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to Bitcoin mixers, I believe the general idea of using a mixer is to maintain anonymity and privacy.
It is the main idea behind Coinjoin transactions and mixing process. However, people have different reasons and different ways to use mixers, legal or illegal just similar to how they use cash for legal cash flows and for money laundering.

Quote
The way I  understand how mixers work is they mix the Bitcoin through different addresses so the inputs and outputs won't match.
You can use change address and your input, output won't match each other but people can know those addresses belong to a same wallet or same owner. WalletExplorer can help you understand it.

Privacy o-meter for Bitcoin transactions is a tool for you to check transactions of other. You can pick a random transaction in block explorer and check its privacy score. If you want to check your transactions, you have to careful and must use Tor to check it. If not, you will leak your IP address.

Quote
Electrum wallet has a number of unused addresses that one can use. Would I achieve the same result if I were to move the bitcoins through these addresses on my Electrum wallet as opposed to using a mixer?
You can not achieve it with Electrum wallet because a mixing process is more complex than using change address. Electrum wallet does not support Coinjoin transactions and you can not set your anonymity set.

Your website design looks good and welcome you to the forum.

I saw you already bought a Copper Membership but has yet maximized its use cases. I advise you to make a better graphics for your announcement as the current one looks is not professional and attractive enough. In case you want to find someone doing it for you, let's check [Overview] Bitcointalk services from Bitcointalk members like jayce, icalical.

If you want to advertise via a signature campaign, I can help you with my service. Feel free to contact me.

Very good day for my betting ticket combo in Euro qualifications, I had France, Serbia and Poland all to win, and they all did it easily Smiley
Absolute biggest surprise of the day for me was Czech Republic playing goalless draw match with Moldova, but they are still big favorite in this Group E.

Great bets, congrats man!

Quote
We continue tomorrow with more Euro matches and my main bet is on Spain, Norway and I am still thinking what to do with Croatia vs Turkey.
Croatia has an old squad and in World Cup 2022, they depended on Modric for creativeness which is their drawback now. Modric has more problems with his age and in this season, especially the second half after World Cup 2022, he has less and worse contributions for Real Madrid. If Croatia relies on him in their match with Turkey, it's not good for them.

I would avoid to bet on Croatia but on another hand, it's risky to bet on Turkey. So best is skip the match.

Are you representative of ProximaBet on Bitcointalk?

Is “copper member” displayed when someone pays the fee? If so do they retain he title after they have sufficient activity to become a “member”?

Once you have it, you get the choice:

Lastly, ask your designer or hire one to make a good graphics for your announcement.

If you are not not their representative, please ignore my advice.
1050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons why I might consider selling my Bitcoin. on: March 28, 2023, 11:03:46 AM
What can make you sell your bitcoin?
tl;dr

Your post is too long but skimming it, I got your opinion and my point is if you use all your money to invest in Bitcoin, sooner or later you will fall into one of those situations you mentioned, and have to sell your bitcoins at times you never want to sell such in bottom of bear market.

In short, make sure you reserve a bit of money in either fiat currency or stable coin to use in emergency. Because it is for emergency, fiat currency is better. Risk of de-peg from stable coin is another risk factor why you should choose fiat currency.

It is easily to say I have diamond hands and will hold my bitcoins especially in bull market. Assume you spend $10,0 00 in last bull market, buy bitcoin at $60,000 and months later you need money when bitcoin was about $20,000 and you have to sell it.

A simple calculation, you will have to sell your bitcoin at /3 price. Rather than selling a fraction of bitcoin with initial capital at $1000, you will have to sell three-fold of that amount just to get $1,000. Is it a good way to invest and hold your bitcoins? NO

Am I the only one who finds using word "loyal" in this context a bit weird? Shouldn't "lenient" or "forgiving" be more appropriate?
I saw it too.  Cheesy

Maybe Ratimov want to use a hooking word to catch attention of forum admins, my guess and 2 sats.
1052  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Looking a partner on: March 28, 2023, 10:53:56 AM
I hope All are well, am Looking a partner I have about $100,000 I want to invest in digital currencies, And I have no experience in trading. Can I find someone who wants to earn money and work for me in daily, trading method will be at my home.
Perhaps you don't like it after reading but let me give you honest advice (with an assumption that you are not trolling).
  • Your writing goes from invest to trading. It means you are not sure what you will do with your money. Invest or trading, you must decide it first.
  • Trading is more risky than investment. Especially trading with Margin, Leverage and Futures, stay away from them. If you want to trade, trade with Spot only.
  • Invest? Okay, if you want to invest, let's invest in Bitcoin only. If you want to expand it more, let's choose some more like Ethereum (ETH), Binance Coin (BNB), don't choose Play-to-Earn, X-to-Earn tokens.
I am sure that you will receive many PMs from scammers and if your question sounds like you will lose your money very soon.

Invest or trade, read this one Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts

1053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China is the largest bitcoin miner. on: March 28, 2023, 10:43:12 AM
Even though this could be a bit outdated as well, I think this overview well demonstrates how shares in global mining operations shifted between countries:

The article on Cointelegraph also says that it was Kazakhstan to welcome Chinese miners after the government started cracking down on them.
They used data from CBECI with last data point is in January 2022.

I have my topic about it but with different visualization up to August 2021. I perhaps will update it today or tomorrow with data up to January 2022.

However if you read my topic and follow discussions there, you will see their methodology for data collection have some assumptions and potential weakness.

Only the Assumption 1 is enough to tell us about lack of data accuracy
Quote
Assumption 1: IP addresses of mining facility operators are an accurate indicator of hashrate location.

After a few months of China crackdown on mining. Check it out!
1054  Other / Archival / Re: Has the forum become more loyal? on: March 27, 2023, 01:53:38 PM
You mean many users were banned for plagiarism and did not choose to appeal the process?
Even they make their appeals, chance to get a second chance in the past, circa 2018 or 2019, is very slim. Let's see.

if someone is banned and has only one plagiarized post, it's probably because he was banned very early and hasn't had time to leave enough spam yet.
It can be true for most cases but we should not think all cases are the same. Some cases are different than the majority and because a permanent ban is a serious punishment, it will be handled case-by-case.

Everything is case-by-case.

There's been no policy change. redsn0w wasn't permanently banned due to several factors which made me think that permabanning him would be a net negative for the forum. Nobody is banned strictly because of "the rules"; it's always handled case-by-case, but almost always, plagiarists deserve to be permabanned.

If you think that a ban should be ended, make your case in a new topic from a "good for the forum as a whole" perspective.
1055  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microstrategy has repaid Silvergate loan and also bought ~6,455 BTC on: March 27, 2023, 01:16:55 PM
I do not think bitcoin can fall below $15500 again. It may go to $16000 or $17000, but what we look up to now is all-time-high. Bitcoin will be more than $100000 one day. Do you know how profitable institutional like Microstrategy would be by that time.
The market does not rely on your thinking for its movements. In fact the market usually moves oppositely to what is thought by majority of the crowd. I can not say will Bitcoin falls to under $20,000 or $16,000 but you should not exclude that possibility.

At least let's check the chart and price history. Not too far, in the past bear market and shortly before a 2020 bull run, when most of the crowd thought $7,000 is likely a bottom range for Bitcoin and believed from that it will start its bull run after 2020 halving.

What happened? It crashed almost half to below $4,000 as a last massive kill before a V-shaped recovery and started its new bull run.

Will it repeat in 2024? You judge it.  Cheesy
1056  Other / Meta / Re: Why the forum didn't use the latest version? on: March 27, 2023, 01:04:46 PM
That's what I am curious about. I don't know precisely how many Forum admins there are. I see theymos and Cyrus only.
Let's check in List of the forum's admins/ global moderators/ staffs. Moderators come and go so perhaps I missed some outdated cases.

You can check it by Forum search. Tick the option: Search by position. Use the keyword: Staff, Global moderator, admin

Quote
I am not sure if every one of them is an advanced coder (I guess they are). Suppose he thought about the future of this forum. In that case, other admins or whoever going to maintain the forum should already have access to the server because we can't guarantee that we will be safe wherever we are and will have time to hand over things to others.
Guess why the forum has 2 admins and 3 global moderators.  Cheesy
1057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 26, 2023, 03:29:08 PM

With the international break still ongoing and maybe some have forgotten they haven't checked the Bundesliga schedule for next week.
It's a big and decisive match for Bundesliga title. Bayern Munich will have some decisive matches that possibly reasons why they decided to sack Nagelsman and hire Tuchel.  Will Dortmund be able to end that match with a draw to maintain 1-point gap or better win it to expand the gap to four point and increase their chance to win Bundesliga?

Dortmund are usually weak in direct match with Bayern Munich but this season is a good chance for them as they no longer have to chase Bayern Munich in this season. Many seasons since the last time Dortmund don't come to last 10 matches in Bundesliga with little difference against Bayern Munich. Usually they have 2-digit difference less than Bayern.

Even though Bayern changed to a new coach. however, on paper Bayern are still superior to their opponents, namely Dortmund. also, this match will be held at the Allianz Arena, Bayern headquarters. after all, no one doubted Tuchel during his coaching career. So, I'm not going to talk about Bayern.

Right now I'm more interested in how Dortmund will respond, how they will respond to the game against Bayern later.
Bayern Munich are finding some boosters from Tuchel who is a former coach in Dortmund. It's interesting to see Tuchel taking this job and has his first match as Bayern coach in a match against Dortmund, his former club years ago. Bayern Munich won't be weak and let Dortmund easily win the match and Dortmund will have issues like in their match with Chelsea. Hopefully they will be able to exit that match and still keep their first position in Bundesliga.

What are your predictions for today Euro qualification matches guys?
There are eight matches today and on paper this are almost all heavy favorites playing against underdogs, except maybe N. Ireland vs Finland and Slovakia vs BosniaHerzegovina matches.
Founding one surprise could be a big jackpot Wink

https://sportsbet.io/sports/soccer/international/european-championship-qualification/matches
I would pick Malta and Ukraine for one of surprises in today matches. Between them I think Ukraine is better than Malta in chances to make surprises. England won over Italy but Ukraine can make a draw against England in their good match day. Italy even had a lost at Italy by England days ago but I think they will be able to solve Malta and get their first win in Euro 2024 qualification.

If you love big win for underdog, you can pick Malta but if you want to pick a more likely option, choose Ukraine.
1059  Other / Meta / Re: One new topic per month on: March 26, 2023, 01:59:07 PM
For example; Newbies can be limited to 3 topics a month then increases with rank eg, Jr member -6, Member -9, Full member -12, SR Member 15 and this goes on unless this doesn't ractify the problem adjustments can be made.
It's bad to limit newbies. Some newbies are only at newbie rank in the forum but they are actually experts in this space.

Do you want to limit Discoveries of the forum like nullius (a first discovery of forum after the merit system kick-off), bullrun2020, n0nce, PowerGlove etc. I am sure more newbies like them will join the forum in future and they will not like the proposed restrictions against them.

I am against OP and your proposals.

Use this [Unofficial Guide] Reporting effectively when you see bad topics.
1060  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Possible things that gives beginners problems on: March 26, 2023, 12:04:03 PM
I recalled that paraphrasing, spamming, plagiarism and scamming.
Guide threads are most common thread type created by new members. In guide thread type, plagiarism is most favorite topic for new members.

From text spinning, paraphrasing, Google translating (English > Local language and vice versa), AI-generating, lazy members have many ways to steal intellectual idea and contents of others. Generally you can classify paraphrasing, spamming and plagiarism into a same trait type of members with nearly zero-contribution for forum.

Plagiarsism QA topics. I don't think new topics about plagiarism are necessary
